Celestia’s POV.

I approach Tender who was cleaning up the mess Anubis had made in his office. “Dr Tender, do you know if Anubis is awake? I really need to speak with him about this incident.”

“Evening princess, unfortunately he’s still out cold but I’ve appointed nurse Sweet Tone to check up on him. I’m still shocked at the number of things he had in his room. How did he get 4 spears and 2 swords from the royal armoury, princess I don’t know how you plan to discipline him but I think he should spend a month with Captain Graceful.”

I winced at the tone he used, it was obvious that he was angry. “Tender I don’t believe we need to punish him too severely, he nearly died, isn’t that punishment enough.”

The red unicorn doctor looked up at me and laughed. “No. Princess i honestly doubt that he even knows how close he came to death, he needs to learn self control and discipline. That’s why sending him to be watched by Captain Graceful and even Captain Sky would be a good idea, your highness.” The way Tender said that gave me the impression that he was lying about Anubis not understanding.

“I’ll consider it, I would have to see what Captain Graceful thinks. As for Sky, she still needs to teach Anubis how to fly.”

“Princesse, I think it would be a good thing for him. I mean he’s a griffon, he’s going to need self control to deal with the ponies that’ll treat him unfairly. I know it shouldn’t be that way but not even you can force ponies to think differently.”

“(Sigh) I know but he’s already been through a lot.”

“So help him to prepare for the road ahead, it’s the least you could do. Griffons have a hard enough time looking for work in the capital as it is.”

“But how doctor? I can’t just educate him myself or could I…. I could take a few hours out of the day to teach him.”

“I thought you only tort magic, princess. So does that mean that he’ll stay out of trouble?” Tender asked with a hopeful smile.

“Sorry Tender I can’t promise that, after all this is Anubis were talking about.”

I said goodbye to Dr Tender Care and started on my way to the royal dining room but i couldn’t get that image of Anubis out of my mind, just lying there unresponsive. It rattled my very core and I needed to make sure that he was doing well, even if he’s asleep. I mean a little detour won’t hurt.

When I arrived at the room that Anubis was being held in I used my magic to slowly and gently open the door as to not wake up the sleeping griff. But I quickly noticed that he wasn’t sleeping, he stared at me and he looked surprised as if he wasn’t expecting me to come here. “H-Hello Anubis, how are you feeling?”

He hesitated for a second. “Fine I think…. So um sorry for…. Well you know, injecting myself with that stuff. I.”

“Anubis.” I interrupted him and he fell silent. “Look I can’t let this go unpunished and I don’t want any explanation, I just want you to promise me that you’ll never do anything like that ever again.

“Okay I promise, so you’re not angry at me?” He looked hopeful.

“No, of course not. I’m just disappointed with your lack of self preservation, I need to know why did you have a bunch of spears and swords in your room?”

Anubis gave a nervous grin. “Well I thought they looked cool and they were just laying there on the ground so I thought I could have them.”

“You can’t just take things that look cool. Anubis can I ask you something?”

“Yes, why do you ask? you’re the princess.”

“Because I don’t want to upset you. (Sigh) Anubis…. Did you used to steal when you were in the bunker?” The silence from the griff was haunting, Anubis’s face twisted into a look of shock. I must of hit the nail on the head judging by his reaction. Now I’ve just got to get more information from him. “Please, you can talk about it Anubis, I only want to help you so please let me.”

Anubis snapped at me. “Why does everyone insist that there’s a problem with me? I’m fine, nothing’s wrong with me Celestia okay.”

“Anubis I understand it can get frustrating, being asked the same question all the time. I should know, ponies ask me the same question everyday.” I was trying to lighten up the mood but he didn’t look impressed. “I’ll leave you to get some rest, good night Anubis.”

“Sorry Celestia, I just don’t like talking about my past. I mean it’s not like I can change it.” As I was leaving he called out and said “Good night Celestia.” I gave him a small smile and took my leave.

When I arrived at the dining hall I was already a few minutes late, I knew that Blackfeather wouldn’t mind waiting but I didn’t know if her husband was as patient as she was. From my initial impression I found him to be a vast improvement from the last king, not to bad mouth Blackfeather’s late father. But I still have yet to get a better picture of his personality.

I trotted through the doors and was met with a most peculiar site, Blackfeather was being told off by Silverbeak? I had to suppress a giggle, the silver and gray king had a bottle of wine in his talons and was going through the reasons why Blackfeather couldn’t have any of it. The look on Blackfeather’s face was priceless.

“Sorry to interrupt your fun Blackfeather, I was just taking care of business.”

“Ahh Celestia, just the mare I need, now tell my husband to surrender that bottle of wine, he’s being overly paranoid.”

“Sweetie, you’re pregnant.” Silverbeak deadpanned to his wife.

“So a tiny bit of wine won’t hurt the cub. Even the doctor said that a small amount wouldn’t cause any complications, Celestia talk some sense into this fool.”

“You know you can’t get enough of this fool.”

I couldn’t tell if they were even arguing anymore, love is a confusing thing. “Hahahah, sorry. I’ve got to side with Silverbeak on this one, how about I make you a cup of tea Blackfeather?”

She huffed begrudgingly. “Fine I’ll have some tea. I don’t know why you’re looking so happy Silverbeak, you’re getting it tonight.”

“It? What’s it, wait I don’t like the sound of that my dear.” Blackfeather gave her husband a sultry look and whispered something I couldn’t hear to him. The gray cheeks of Silverbeak went red and I started to think that I was overstaying my welcome.

Then the silver and gray king spoke in a seductive tone. “Ooh I like the sound of that, I’ll be looking forward to it tonight.” And he gave Blackfeather a kiss on her beak. I thought now was a good time to remind them that they weren’t alone. “(Cough) (Cough) excuse me but please do try not to get touchy whilst I’m here.” They both looked at me and blushed, then the food was brought out and we all took a seat.

“So king Silverbeak how’s the throne been treating you?”

“Princess Celestia it’s been good for the most part but we’ve been having some issues with a small faction of griffon supremacists that don’t like the relations between our nations.”

“Oh that’s not good but I’m sure that you two will be able to sort that out. What about the economic climate of the griffon kingdom?” They both looked at me with a nervous smile.

“Well we’re slowly recovering from the economic crisis and we’ve made plans to help build infrastructure and more easily accessible education for griffons but these things take time.”

“You two know that Equestria could help, with financial aid.”

“Sorry princess, but the general public wouldn’t except that and we’d face backlash. The kingdom is already in a delicate state as it is, if we accepted help from Equestria it might kick start a civil war and that’s the last thing we need. I mean we had enough problems with telling the public that we were going on a diplomatic trip to Equestria to secure trade routes.”

“Oh my I didn’t realise that it was that bad Silverbeak, Blackfeather.”

“Yes unfortunately my father had ran our country into the dirt but me and Silverbeak have been working hard to make the standard of living better for the masses. That also brings up another reason why we’re here Celestia, I ask that you teach my daughter how to lead a nation. We don’t have the time to teach her, we barely even get enough family time with all the work we’re doing. So would you, Celestia?

“Of course I’ll help teach her how to govern a country but I can’t promise that it’s going to prepare her for it. But I’ll have to fit here into my busy schedule, I’m also going to be tutoring Anubis. So how long do you believe Silverfeather should stay with me for?”

“In all honesty Celestia, we can’t say…. Maybe until she’s ready. If she’s confident in her ability and what you’ve taught her then she’ll have a better chance at being a good queen.”

“I’ll help her along the way, you two don’t have to worry one bit.”

“Thank you Celestia.”

“That’s fine with me Blackfeather, we’ll decide on trade routes tomorrow it’s getting late. Good night you too.”

“Yes that will be good to get out of the way, me and Silverbeak best retire early for the night. You know.” She wiggled her eyebrows and grabbed her husband’s talon, they quickly made their way out of the dining room. “Night Celestia!!!”

I shook my head in amusement at them. “I guess I should lower the sun and raise the moon. It’s about that time now anyway.”
