The psychotic gentlegriff

For the past 4 and a half months now Celestia had snuck into the room that Anubis had been recovering in, she had always made sure that he was asleep before dropping her invisibility spell.

But tonight was different because in the morning Anubis would be discharged. Celestia just stood there at his bedside, watching him sleep. She wanted to get in and cuddle him but stopped herself, she had been fighting this battle for the past 4 and a half months now.

Her own sleep schedule had been tossed out the window but it was a sacrifice she could make, it wasn’t that she didn’t trust her guards or Captains but it made her feel a bit better to watch over him herself.

Anubis opened his eyes and locked eyes with the surprised Alicorn, she went to fly out of the window but he reached out to her and she couldn’t bring herself to run.

She could see that he had a warm smile under all the wraps. “C-Celestia don’t go, stay here…. Please.”

“But Anubis…. Aren’t you scared of me?”

“For how long lived you are, you’re kind of stupid. Of course I’m not and stop looking so guilty, it was my own fault.”

Celestia began to tear up and gently nuzzled his cheek. “Oh b-but I nearly k-killed you Anubis, I even knew that you would do something like that and-and I still panicked….”

“Celestia! Stop blaming yourself, it was an accident. That I caused okay, it’s what I get for scaring a fucking Alicorn.”

“B-but.”

“NO! No buts, it wasn’t your fault and don’t you dare say otherwise.”

“Sigh* I’m still sorry….”

“So am I, but we need to move past this. Anyway I survived and I get to skip my moulting.”

“Heheheh that’s not how that works…. so you’re not mad at me?” She gave a weak smile.

“Do you really have to ask that? Of course I’m not mad at you so stop being silly, it’s weird. Especially watching me sleep, that’s just creepy.”

“Wha? How did you know?”

“That doesn’t matter, what matters is helping me get up and out of these bandages.”

“No not yet, Dr Tender is going to take care of that in the morning so go back to sleep…. And I love you Anubis.”

“Aaaaaw I love me too.” Celestia snorted softly followed up by a giggle. “And I love you too, Celestia…. So why didn’t you visit me when I was awake?”

“I-I was scared….”

“Of what?”

“Of you…. I was scared of you not wanting to see me, not wanting me anywhere near you and…. H-hating me….”

“Really? That’s your reason, sigh* look Swan neck it’s going to take a lot more than being shot by the sun on accident to make me hate you. I mean I’ve had a lot worse done to me and it’s my own fault for flying too close to the sun, might have to change my name to Icarus?”

“Icarus? Never mind, look I still shouldn’t have freaked out like that Anubis.”

“Nope shut up, I don’t want to hear you rant about how you could have done this or that better. Celestia it’s called the past for a reason, you can’t change it and even if you could you shouldn’t.”

“B-but I should have….”

“Sigh* just come here and give me a hug, you clearly need it.” She leaned down and he wrapped his claws around her.

“T-thanks Anubis…. I want to tell you something….”

“Of course, go right ahead.”

“A long time again…. I had a S-Sis-Sniffle* ….just forget that i said anything.”

“please, you can tell me.”

“N-No it’s fine I’ll tell you later, let just stay like this for a little bit longer…. Please?”

“Yeah, that’s fine.” Celestia climbed into the bed and they spent the rest of the night just cuddling.

When Dr Tender Care and nurse Sweet Tone went to check on Anubis, they found princess Celestia at the window raising the sun.

“Oh! Good morning your highness, I wasn’t expecting you to be here so early.” Dr Tender and Sweet Tone both bowed.

“Please rise, as for why I’m here so early. That is because I’m just checking on Anubis here.”

“So this is why you’ve been struggling to stay awake during the day.”

“Dr Tender what ever do you mean?”

“Sigh* princess, I take it that you’ve been checking on him every night for the past four months.”

“Awwww that’s so sweet your highness, Anubis is lucky to have a special-somepony that cares so much.”

“You really think so nurse Sweet Tone?” Celestia blushed and shied away from the two smirking ponies.

“Oh of course, so how’s the griff? Is he up?” Sweet asked.

“Um no he fell back asleep but he said he was feeling good when we spoke.”

“That’s good to hear, see Captain Sky was right. He isn’t going to hate you or be fearful of you princess, it was an accident and I’m sure he said the same thing.”

“H-he did, now that I think about it. I was worrying over nothing.”

“I’m glad to hear that.” The nurse walked up to Anubis and pulled the IV needle out of his foreleg, she gently began to wake him and he slowly opened his eyes.

“Good morning sleepy head, time for your final check up.”

“Mmmmm no, give me ten more minutes.” Celestia giggled and Sweet Tone just shook her head.

Dr Tender walked up to the bed. “Anubis get up, I’m sure you’re eager to be discharged.” At the Doctors words he opened his eyes and went to get up but Celestia stopped him with a hoof.

“About time doc, I was getting bored. Just sitting here, with nothing to entertain me…. So? What are you waiting for? Unwrap me like a present on your birthday.”

“Okay okay I understand that you want out but we got to make sure you’re all good to go Anubis. And you’re going to have to wear bandages for a few weeks, so I expect you at my office at 8PM to have clean ones put on everyday.”

“Sigh* okay but I think I’m healed up just fine, i mean my fur is starting to grow back and my feathers as well.”

“Yes but they haven’t grown back completely, so your skin is exposed in some places.”

“You know that they would have all grown back already if you didn’t shave it all off.”

“Yeah well that had to be done unfortunately, fortunately for you. You still have to moult, so at least you’ll be able to fly again.”

“Huff* for all we know, my kind might just grow back primary feathers. I mean you literally have no idea what I am.” The room fell silent.

“A-Anubis, we understand that your different from other griffons but we can get an understanding of your body by looking at theirs.”

“Sigh* Look I’m not getting at anything, so don’t try and sugar coat it Celestia…. It just that I’m similar but so much more different.”

“He has a point your highness, we have no idea how his body works. I mean he’s recovered miraculously, just look at him.” At this point, dr Tender was unraveling the bandages that covered Anubis.

Celestia winced upon seeing patches of exposed skin spread out all over his body. Nurse Sweet Tone then began applying clean bandages, after half an hour later Anubis was re-wrapped.

Once he was discharged from the medical wing, Celestia took him to get some breakfast. They were walking to the dining room.

“Heheheheheheheh.”

“Celestia stop laughing at me.”

“B-but, heheheh y-you have a nice Nightmare night costume.”

“Nightmare night?”

“Yes this years Nightmare night is just round the corner.”

“Okay but what is Nightmare night?”

“It’s a holiday that has lost it’s original meaning over the centuries but now it an holiday for foal to get dressed up in costumes and get free candy.”

“Oh so it’s Halloween basically.”

“Is that a similar holiday you had back home…. Sorry I forgot Anubis.”

“That’s fine and yes it is, a really good one too from what I remember…. I didn’t get to celebrate that often.”

“Well we could celebrate it if you want to?”

“….so I’m allowed to go out in Canterlot at night?”

“Yes but we will be accompanied by guards.”

“Okay thanks but I’m a bit old for that stuff, so I’ll pass.”

“What?”

“I just wanted to see if you’d let me out.”

“Oh…. Wait you were testing me?” Celestia stop and stared at him.

“Yep.”

“What?!”

“So are you just going to stand there or are you coming.” Celestia quickly trotted up to walk along side Anubis and they continued to the dining room.

When they got to the dining room, they found Silver all ready eating breakfast. She was devouring a plate of pancakes topped with chocolate syrup and an assortment of fruit.

“Morning Silver, you know all that is just going to go straight to your hips.”

“A-Anubis you, what!?! What are You doing up and about?”

“I’ve been discharged and you need to lay off the pancakes, so I’m going to tax you two pancakes.”

“What no!”

“Ah but my dear, it’s for your own good and not to mention that 3 is more than enough for you.”

B-But I thought you loved me?” Silver pouted at him.

“I do but that’s why I’m saving you from the extra calories, so surrender two of your five pancakes or I’ll just have to take them all.”

“Fine…. But only because your hot.” She passed him two pancakes and went right back to eating but with a displeased look on her face.

“Thank you and you’re right, I’m so hot I caught fire.” Both Celestia and Silver fell into an awkward silence. “Oh come on that was a good one…. Fine! I guess it was in poor taste, my bad.”

“Anubis you shouldn’t joke about that, you nearly died.”

“I agree with Silverfeather on that one, I thought I killed you.”

“Okay okay I won’t…. Anyway Silver how’s walking feeling, does it still hurt?”

“Um well it hurts a bit but not too much…. Anymore.”

“Well you only have yourself to blame for that, so was it worth it?”

“Mhmmmmyeah!”

“Don’t speak with your mouth full Silver, it unladylike.”

“Gulp* sorry Celestia, I forgot…. Again.”

“Please do try to remember, I am trying to prepare you for when you take control of the throne. After all that is what you mother asked of me.”

“But it’s not like that’s going to happen for…. Like 50 years at the minimum and what if I don’t want to have all that responsibility just thrusted upon me.”

“Sigh* I understand but it is your duty, all those griffons that look to your mother and father for help, hope and guidance will one day look to you.”

“Celestia’s got a point, it may not be today and it might not be in the next 30 years but one day it will happen and you will need to be ready.”

“B-But it terrifies me, it makes me feel s-so sick just thinking about it. Why! Why did I have to be the successor?”

“Silver come here.” Anubis wrapped his claws around her and gently began to rock her back and forth. “Listen, we don’t get to choose how we’re born but that’s why we need to enjoy the good times because the bad times will suck they will suck so so much. So please don’t waste your time crying or moaning about how unfair life is because you’ll never enjoy what you got now, the freedom you have now.”

“Sniffle* I-I guess you’re right but I never thought you’d ever say something like that, it made sense but sounds weird coming from you.”

“That’s a weird way of saying thank you but you’re welcome.”

“Heheheheheheh, you two are just adorable.”

“I will bite you.”

“Maybe I want to be bitten.”

“I’m trying to eat breakfast and not have a meltdown over the daunting task of taking over an empire over here.”

“And your emotional support griff is right here, so how about after I’ve had breakfast we go and read a book together. Celestia you are invited to but I’d imagine that you have day-court to attend.”

“Sigh* unfortunately I do but it must be done, I mean who else is going to listen to the woes of my little ponies.”

“Tis a shame but I understand and as much as I would love to see you afterwards, you need to catch up on some sleep.”

“That does sound like a pleasant idea but only if you’ll join me.”

“But if I’m there you won’t get any sleep.”

“Of course I will.”

“Okay deal my dear.” Celestia giggled and their breakfast was brought out.

The butlers swiftly placed the platters and jugs on the table, Anubis went to plate up what he wanted whilst Celestia levitated a whole cake over to her. Silver and Anubis just looked at each other, Celestia was distracted by the double layer chocolate sponge with vanilla icing.

“I need to find out what her training schedule is….”

“Silver dear don’t ever try, it’s unrealistic for you to think that you can eat like that and still look that good at the same time.”

“But maybe I.”

“No, she’s an Alicorn.”

“Mhmmmmmmmm what are you two whispering about?”

“How much I would love to eat more of your icing.” Silver looked at him in shock and Celestia choked on her orange juice, the princess of the sun’s cheeks turned a deep red.

“Um well…. I mean later if you want b-but not right now Anubis.”

“Anubis!?! Where did that come from?”

“I think the heart or the head…. Not this one tho.” He poked the side of his skull. “Hey if it makes you feel better, we could always mix the flavours.” It was Silver’s turn to blush now.

They finished their breakfast, to the relief of the poor guards that had to endure the damn near dirty talk coming from that lucky ass griff.

Celestia left Silver and Anubis to tend to day-court, Silver practically dragged Anubis to go get a surprise as she called it. He didn’t like the sound of it one bit but she seemed super excited to show him.

She had took him to the castle seamstress, who somehow already had his measurements. Silverfeather was prancing in front of him and he thought that it was kinda cute seeing a griffon prance.

“Is it ready?”

“Yes your highness, the special orders you made are.”

“Oh Anubis you going to love this!” The elderly unicorn mare levitated a pile of clothes over to Anubis and he took them.

“T-thanks…. Can I try them on?”

“Sure, we’ll give you the room.”

They both left and he began to look through the pile of formal attire, they were excellently made but he gravitated toward a soft black and red three piece. He immediately got into it and began posing in front of the mirror, Silver peeped in and fell through the door at what she saw. It fit so perfectly that she had to rush over there and give him a good look over…. 4 times.

“So is this a good look for me or what? Silver you’re drooling.”

“Wha?! Yeah yes you look great…. But I can’t wait to see you wearing it once you’re fully healed and all of you fur and feathers grow back.”

“Easy girl we’re not alone and try to keep you tail down, you wouldn’t want anycreature else catching a glimpse now.” Silver blushed and grabbed her tail.

“I-it's a normal response to seeing such a handsome griff, my griff.”

“Okay keep it under control dear, wait until we get back to my room.”

“Heheheheheheh! Okay Anubis, I’ll try.”

“That doesn’t sound promising, anyway let’s go to the library and grab a few books, I need something to read.”

“Huff* okay but I want to give you another surprise…. Once we get to your room, Celestia also had a new bed put in there and the door is repaired.”

“Mhmmm well you’re gonna have to wait because I’m still in recovery sorry…. Hey Silver do me a favour and take these to my room please, I have to do something.”

“Um sure okay.” She took the clothes and took off.

Anubis turned left and continued walking towards a dead end, he placed his claws on the wall and it opened up. He went in and it closed behind him.

Celestia’s POV

The nobles were passing a bill that elevated blood’s family from just nobles to royalty but I had managed to insure that they gained no real power or influence. They would be royalty in title alone, I could see that this angered sir Upper Class and Lady Silver blood but I would have over ruled the vote if it gave them any real power.

It didn’t help that a noble mare was trying to blackmail me about Anubis, not only had she found out that we were a thing but that I accidentally put him in critical condition.

This was going to be a stressful day….

Celestia didn’t know it but Anubis had seen the mare who was trying to back her up into a corner. He was going to remove that mare from the mortal realm with something he had been cooking up over the last four months.

“Oh I’m going to enjoy killing you….”

It had drained him completely but it was worth it for he now had secret passages going all through out the castle, so all he needed was for her to be all alone and then he’d grab her.

He looked over his shoulder and grinned with glee at the thought of his very first test subject on his newly constructed operating table.

He had already soundproofed the walls, so only he could hear her screams…. Anubis shook his head and took a step back before brushing it off and following his target from within the walls.
