The psychotic gentlegriff
C64 Cat’s out of the bag
Previous ChapterNext Chapter“is, she, okay.” He had dropped the bag of baked goods and crushed them under is claws.
Celestia lifted him up in a magical barrier and spun him around to face her. “Please just calm down, if you catch this. You might die and I’m not letting that happen!”
Anubis’s feature softened at the sight of Celestia beginning to tear up but he now inadvertently knew that Silver’s state was dire.
Celestia went to walk off with him but the griff had other plans.
veeeuuuum*
The solar Alicorn froze in shock, Anubis had cut through her barrier and bolted off towards Silver’s room. She was lost on how he had done it, there wasn’t a magical signature or residue left behind.
‘He had just cut magic itself but with what? More importantly he’s nearly at Silver’s door!’
She teleported in front of him but this did very little to even slow Anubis down, the medical staff all jumped out of their skin when a giant griffon and Alicorn bowled through the door.
Anubis shot up and untangled his limbs from Celestia whilst the startled ponies huddled in a corner, fear painted on their muzzles.
Celestia groaned whilst Anubis rushed over to Silver’s bed side, she was wakened by the commotion and looked up at her lover weakly.
With a shaky voice. “Hey Nimrod, you’re going to be fine now that I’m here. I promise….
She was hooked up to a IV drip and oxygen mask but Anubis noticed the tiny specks of blood in the mask, he deduced that she had been coughing it up.
“Anubis…. Please I don’t want you to catch it, I’m begging you please!” The regal mare was now crying as she tried to drag her griff-friend away from their herd member.
Without saying anything he raised his claw and gently placed it on her chest, Silver faintly smiled at the touch. Celestia had seized her attempts to drag him away.
Anubis had his eyes closed and ignited his claw in a sickly green aura, all the ponies looked shocked by the display of magic from a griffon of all creatures whilst Celestia was more than confused. She never remembered him having a green aura and this made her uncomfortable, she had to remind herself that she still knows so little about his specific breed of griffon but two auras is unheard of.
Anubis was in full concentration mode as he located the virus which was attacking Silver’s wings and lungs, he separated and examined a singular viral cell and began to give Silver’s white blood cell the viruses information. Using his magic to speed the process of mitosis up, Silver’s white blood cells rapidly increase in numbers with antibodies designed to attack the invading virus with speed and efficiency.
Once that was taken care of, he began the repair of the inner lining of her lungs. She immediately noticed the difference when her breathing became easier and no longer stung.
“now for the wings.”
He began to heal the skin on her wings but didn’t regrow her feathers because he believed that it’ll be better to just fuel the cells and allow the body to grow them itself.
Celestia watched with her jaw agape, he was healing. And not just a minor cut but fully repairing internal damage right before her eyes. She took a step forward before it clicked, Anubis was a biomancer. This unnerved her but also intrigued the Alicorn, then the pieces all fell together.
“so that’s how you could go for so long in bed….” she whispered out.
Once Anubis finished healing the sickly hen he turned to Celestia, who had a mixed reaction to the demonstration. His eyes were now crimson with a purple outline, she liked it but was uncertain about this new revelation.
“Um C-Celestia?”
“You’re a biomancer…. An actual biomancer but more importantly where did you learn to use it?”
“Ahh um well…. Maybe we should take this elsewhere?” He suggested whilst backing up.
Celestia nodded and teleported both of them to her study, where captain Graceful was waiting to give his morning report.
Upon getting the scare of his life when Anubis and Celestia popped into existence he was even more confused when the princess was scolding the griff.
The captain of the guard decided to make a tactical retreat whilst he was still unnoticed by the Alicorn, Anubis shot him a look that said “help me!”
“Do you have any idea what would have happened if you messed up or something went wrong?!”
“Celestia.”
“Anubis you could have killed her! Not to mention that you’ve been using it on yourself!”
“Celestia.”
“W-what if you had k-killed yourself by sniffle* accident?”
“Celestia!” The sniffling mare went silent. “I’ve used it before, in fact I’ve used it on myself so many times that I’ve lost count. To be fair it’s practically second nature for me to use it, I never said anything because I read that it was straight up forbidden.”
She just looked at him and shifted nervously, when Anubis went to give her a hug. She backed up.
“Celestia? A-are you scared of me?”
“I-I’m just….”
“You’re scared. You’re actually scared….”
All she could do is shift from side to side, Anubis couldn’t really blame her. What he was capable of was horrifying as a concept but he had hoped that she’d react a little bit better.
“It’s fine, I understand…. I mean it’s scary to imagine what I can do, so good bye mortal.” And in an instant he spread his wings and took off.
“Wait! no….” Celestia just stood there disappointed with herself but what was she meant to do, how was she meant to act in this situation. But she can’t help but feel guilty, after all he had saved Silver’s life and this is what he gets in return.
Fear, from the pony he loves. But she couldn’t help but wonder if something else was at play here, Anubis had just called her mortal. She contemplated what he meant but drew a blank.
Celestia began to sob and threw herself onto the couch. “You stupid stupid mare! Why didn’t you say anything, I know he’d never hurt me. Argh!!”
Meanwhile Anubis just flew, he didn’t care where just anywhere from her. He hurt like nothing else had ever before, this pain was completely unbearable and the worst part was. He couldn’t just heal it.
He wasn’t watching where he was going and clipped his wing on a building, slamming into the ground he felt something break but didn’t care. Ponies crowded around the downed griff, they tried to help him but he cared not and got up.
Some of the ponies recognised him and rushed to keep him still but he wasn’t having any of it and snapped his wing in place, then shooting off into the air.
Some of the ponies had seen his face and immediately knew that something bad had happened, it was something like a deep collective understanding of empathy that ponies had.
Some guards tried to catch up with him but couldn’t once he went into a dive off the edge of the city.
He didn’t know what to do or where to go but remembered that Sky and Blazing lived somewhere in a place called Cloudsdale, he didn’t want to be alone.
So he shot over to the only place that fit the description. A city of clouds in the distance.
It took him an 3 hours to fly into the floating city but once he landed on a cloud, the giant griff had no idea on where to start looking for Sky. until he saw a street sign held up by a cloud pole.
Not questioning the cloud buildings and everything else he follows the signs that pointed him into the direction of the Wonderbolts training camp. He wondered why mares out numbered stallions by 4 to 1 but shook the thought.
He knew as long as he looked like he knew where he was going, no creature would approach him.
He ended up wondering the city for longer than he anticipated and accidentally bumped into a mare wearing sunglasses, hat and coat. Brushing himself off he apologised and went to leave but the mare grabbed his claw.
“Anubis? W-what’s wrong, you look like shit dude?” Concern in her voice, Anubis recognised Blazing’s voice and went to speak but he was stopped by a hoof in the beak. “Ssshhhh! Follow me, I’m in disguise.”
He nodded and took off, following the mare to her house which was a humble cloud home. It wasn’t small by any measure but it wasn’t the castle that Anubis had grown accustomed to navigating.
“Come on in, Sky’s gonna be surprised.”
“Oh sorry.” He ducked under the door and looked around aimlessly.
“Okay good now make yourself at home, I’ll speak to Sky.” She waggled her eyebrows at him before disappearing up stairs, Anubis decided then that up there was off limits.
His stomach growled and he looked for the kitchen, it didn’t take long for him to start cooking lunch. The scent of good food brought a groggy Sky and bouncy Blazing down stairs, Sky seemed shocked to find Anubis and blazing face-hoofed.
“Whoop, yeah Anubis is here…. Oh and pssssss, he’s a little upset, I think it has something to do with the princess.” The two mares were spooked when Anubis turned to face them.
“My ears are super sensitive…. And you’re right, Celestia is partly the reason I’m here. I didn’t want to be alone right now….”
“Oh Anubis.” Sky began. “What’s the matter, please talk to me.”
“After lunch, I made scrambled eggs, hash browns with a side of toast so eat up.”
“Oh thanks a million stud, don’t mind if I do.”
They swiftly devoured the food and were now laying on their cloud couch whilst Anubis sat on the floor, which was made out of wood. He found it weird but his thoughts were interrupted by a hoof on his shoulder.
“Okay Anubis, what happened?”
“Sigh* it’s complicated….” The two mares looked expectantly. “So Sky you know I can heal myself?”
“Yes….”
“Well I’m a biomancer…. And Celestia made her feelings clear on how she feels about it.” Anubis waited expectantly for the mares to freak out.
But to his surprise, Sky nuzzles behind his ears.
“Oh Anubis I’m sure she was just shocked or something, she’s probably looking for you right now. Do you want to go back and see?”
Anubis just shook his head and melted into Sky’s embrace and began to cry. “Fine you can stay here for the time being but you need to talk to her eventually….”
Blazing decided to change the subject away from the princess. “So what’s biomancy?”
“Sniffle* I can heal myself and others, I can manipulate all the cells in the body and change them. I can even improve and completely alter a pony’s DNA….”
“Soo…. Can you improve physical capabilities like flying?”
“Um I can give you griffon wings or a hybrid of them and Pegasi wings, they’re a lot stronger than Pegasi wings but not as manoeuvrable…. I also can give soul techniques but I don’t remember how I learned to do that?”
“Soul techniques?”
“Yeah, it doesn’t use normal magic. It uses soul magic, it’s really powerful and I can make it hereditary.”
“Mmmmmmm okay give me it and show me how to use it.”
“Blazing!”
“Sure come here.”
“Anubis!” The two just looked at Sky and raised an eyebrow at her.
“I can have stronger wings and this soul technique thing babe.”
“But is it safe?” Sky turned to Anubis.
“Yeah it is and don’t worry about privacy, I only see what i want to…. I can do you after, if you want?”
“Huff* fine…. But will it hurt?”
“No I promise.”
Anubis spent the next hour converting the mares wings into a hybrid of Pegasi and griffon, afterwards Blazing shot out the window and took off whilst Sky didn’t stop fluffing her wing.
“So….”
“Oh Anubis they’re incredible!” She jumped at the griff and tried her best to hug her larger friend. “To think that the princess is scared of this.”
Anubis just blushed before composing himself. “Do you want me to do the soul technique now, since Blazing had clearly forgot about it.”
“Um what can you give me?”
“Um let me just see your cutie mark.”
“Oh so you just wanted to look at my flanks, dirty griff.”
“Sigh* shut up Sky.”
“Ah but you smiled, so we’re making progress.”
“Just show me your cutie mark.” She spun around and Anubis began to think what he could give her and then it clicked.
It didn’t have to do with her mark, so he decided to give her a technique that would allow her to vanish from sight. This would allow Sky to form a fine layer of her soul to allow light to pass through her, making her completely invisible.
He named it soul-lucency.
After teaching Sky how to use it and telling her to keep practicing with it because it can become stronger, he left the house and told Sky that he was just exploring the city and that he’ll do Blazing’s when he returns.
He was wondering around the cloud city aimlessly, trying to clear his head. He still felt like shit and found a bench in what appeared to be a park of clouds. Losing track of time Anubis slowly began to doze off but caught himself and flew back to Sky and Blazing’s house, landing out side he knocked on the door and the response was immediately.
“Anubis! Oh thank Celestia, I was beginning to worry.” She was clearly trying to mask the concern in her voice.
“I’m fine, nearly fell asleep on a bench.”
“Sigh* you silly griff get in here, dinners ready.”
“Oh wow, what we got mum?”
“Shut it stud and get that tail to the table.”
“Yes ma’am.” Anubis lightened up and went Into the kitchen, taking a seat next to Blazing.
Looking at the plate of roasted vegetables he took a fork and dug in, they were nice but a far cry from the castle chefs or Celestia’s. Now that he thought about it, flying off like that wasn’t a smart move.
He’d go back soon but also wanted to take some time to himself, no experiments, no projects, no near death experiences and to his dismay no Celestia or Silver. Now that he thought about it, would Celestia even want to see him again.
Looking back to how he was before dying, it scared him. He now had those he cared about, there were consequences that scared him and for once he was stumped on how to proceed.
He had love, something he swore never to let into his heart and yet it did, he let out a low chuckle and the two mares looked at him unsure why he was chuckling to himself.
“Ummm Anubis what’s so funny?” They were beginning to question the griffon’s mental state.
“Sorry, I’m just laughing at my situation and how stupid I’m being. I mean what good am I doing feeling sorry for myself and sulking about it.”
“I mean I don’t understand why her highness would be against such an ability, I mean you can cure illnesses right?”
“Yeah but the potential is far more dangerous, especially if you take into consideration my history.”
“Oh….”
“yeah, big oh but I just hope she doesn’t lock me up or something.”
Blazing scoffed at the notion. “Like she’ll do that, I mean she loves you, you’re not going to die on her and you treat her like a mare and not some all mighty goddess.”
“Yeah I’m practically immortal but doesn’t every mare want to be treated like that?”
“Fuck no! Dude I don’t know if you’ve noticed because most stallions you’ve been around are in the guard but it’s like super difficult to find a stallion that’s strong willed and masculine.” Sky nodded in agreement with her other half.
“Oh…. Well consider my horizons expanded, so what would happen if I was to walk around with my wings on display like I normally do?”
“Do not do that, do you hear me?”
“Okay okay I won’t! But why?”
Blazing gave a hearty laugh at the thought. “Could you Imagine what would happen if he did that in Los Pegasus, we’d have to pull the mares and even some stallions off him! Hahahahahah!”
“Yeah…. It wouldn’t be as bad here but the response would still be bad, I wouldn’t be surprised if some tried to get it on there and then.”
“S-so Celestia wasn’t pulling my tail with that then, I can never consistently tell with that mare.”
“Yeah she’s got a bit of a reputation with messing with ponies, apparently she used to be a prankster but that’s just speculation.”
“I’ll have to investigate that?”
“I just feel bad for Graceful, her highness probably has the entire guard mobilised looking for you.”
“Huff* he deserves it, that traitor.”
“So…. Anubis?”
“Yes….”
“Can you make a mare into a stallion?”
“Cough!* Blazing! What the fuck!?!”
“I probably could.”
“Okay enough you two! Shut up and eat…. I’m going bed after this, you can share the couch with Anubis for that.”
“What!? But why? I was just curious, honey don’t be like that.”
“I said shut up!”
“Eep….”
They finished their dinner in silence and Sky dragged herself upstairs to bed, leaving Anubis and Blazing down stairs.
“So what’s wrong with her, she seems stressed out?”
“Sigh* she’s just uncertain about the future…. She wants a foal but no stallions meet her standards.”
“Oh that sucks…. I remember she asked if I’d give her a foal once but she was clearly joking about.”
“Gasp* really! Oh my gosh, well she goes into heat around about mid summer.”
“What?”
“Yeah! Typically mares have heat week and then they have their own individual heat cycle that lasts a few days and isn’t as intense. if her highness objects it doesn’t matter, she’s not allowed. It’s a law, a mare isn’t allowed to prevent her stallion from studing. You just have to get registered.”
“I-I don’t know what to make of that?” Rubbing his temples Anubis just laid a on the floor and curled up into a ball of feathers with a blush on his face. “Good night Blazing, you can wait until tomorrow to get your soul technique.”
“Awww fine…. Night Anubis.”
In the hallway a certain Pegasus mare appeared from fin air with a blush on her muzzle.
