The psychotic gentlegriff

Anubis made his way out the castle and to the gates, greeting everycreature on his way. He was constantly stabbing his left foreleg with his bone scythe, he was slightly paranoid thanks to last night’s dream.

Although he’d denied such a thing if asked, he was making sure that he felt real pain and not the trickery of the mind when it’s in its deepest state of rest.

He was brought out of his thoughts by the sound of precious metal clanging off the cobblestone path. He looked down and admired the ring and decided to push such paranoid to the back of his mind.

‘Zodiac did you notice anything different about me last night when I was sleeping?’

‘Other than your absence from the void no, as far as I could tell you slept soundly.’

‘Mhmmmm interesting.’

The griff looked back to check on Eclipse and sent the sleeping cub a warm smile as he approached the gate and retracted his blade.

“If you two don’t mind waiting a few moments before we depart, I need to finish something quickly.”

“Of course not sir.” Glacier was in her griffish armour and the royal guard aside her was a large earth pony stallion who had a look of indifference.

“Thank you.” Anubis opened a portal and walked through leaving the two guards completely dumbfounded.

“D-did he just use magic? Private Glacier.”

“I believe so….”

Anubis appeared behind Celestia and Silver, they were chatting about what they had been up to over These past days when he spoke.

“Fire Flanks.”

Both of them jumped up and screamed out in shock, this triggered the guards outside the doors to rush in. They were falling over themselves in a manic panic to protect Princess Celestia and Princess Silverfeather form whatever scared them.

The commotion woke Eclipse from her magic induced nap and Anubis immediately activated creation to protect him and his daughter.

“Stand down guards! Sorry for the panic, I was startled…. Nothing more.”

“But p-princess?”

“I gave you your orders, now follow them.”

“Heheheheh, well I wasn’t expecting that…. But I’m sorry for scaring you.”

“Please try not to do that in the future handsome, you scared the living day lights out of me and Celestia.”

“Yeah but the air time you got was impressive…. And without flapping your wings.”

“Okay so what was so important that you had to come back and scare me, Silver and the guards?”

“Oh um last night did you have a weird dream by chance?”

“Um yesss…. Why?”

“Was it about Old Leakon?”

The look on the stunned alicorn’s face said everything Anubis needed to know.

“Um yes…. And you were there with me.”

“Okay that’s strange, did we go through a portal and end up in the underground city?”

“Anubis, you’re scaring me.”

“Mhmmmm so maybe it could have been a shared dream…. Or something similar but what coursed it?”

“Do you think it is anything dangerous because at the end we died but I didn’t wake up until you woke me, I just went into another Dream.”

“No…. Or hopefully not but if it happens again then we will need to document what happens.”

“Yeah…. So you remember the Cat?”

“The Cheshire Cat.”

“Wow….”

“Yep that’s more than a little creepy, I’ll look into it if it happens again but I best not delay myself any longer. See you later.”

“Hey I’m here…. To.” He had already left through the portal he made before Silver could finish her sentence.

Anubis appeared in front of the castle gate and was on high alert, after all he was carrying precious cargo on his back.

Eclipse was sitting calmly on her father’s back as the two guards flanked Anubis, she was taking in her surroundings as they made their way through the city. She was in amazement at the sights around her.

The beautiful buildings and colourful ponies impressed the cub, she wanted to jump off and explore but knew her dad would stop her if she did…. Or so she thought.

“Do you want to walk Eclipse just make sure to stay where I can see you.”

“R-really? I’m allowed.”

“Of course, here you little menace.” Anubis picked her up and put her down, the tiny cub immediately began to venture out into the square.

Eclipse’s POV

Am I dreaming? I’m actually in Equestria, I saw the princess…. But all I remember is being on my deathbed, I was in a losing battle with cancer and now I’m here as the daughter of this massive griffon with big fluffy ears.

Who is he and why does he have a British accent?

Unfortunately I didn’t get to hear what my new dad and princess Celestia were talking about, now that I think about it was that female griffon my mother?

Probably but as for right now, I’ve been given a chance of a life without sickness and in the worlds of my little pony. This is the greatest thing to ever happen to me!

And if my dad is friends with the princess of the sun then I might meet the main 6…. Wait where was princess luna?

Probably sleeping the day away, yeah that makes sense.

“Gasp! Daddy can we go and get some sweets please.”

“Mhmm I don’t see why not, let’s.”

Now that I was noticing it, my dad was clearly attractive by ponies standards. The give away was the number of mares that stared at him smiling.

Well they smiled until they saw me and then they giggled to one another for some odd reason, I also found it weird that my dad walked around with his wings held up high.

Then a Pegasi flew up to him and began talking.

“Anubis! Buddy, how ya been and who’s the cub? Are you on babysitting duty or something?”

“Sigh* no Razer, that’s my daughter.”

“WHAT!!!!”

He yelled it so loudly that I had to cover my big ears…. I don’t think griffons have ears in my little pony, maybe I’m just a different type? But why did this Razor yell like that?

I instantly got closer to the other griffon, who had pretty icy blue feathers.

“But Anubis, you’re like not even 18 yet bro! How are you a dad? Wait is the griffon princess her mother?”

“Yes princess Silverfeather is and I’m engaged too, here look.”

“Oh fuc-fantastic dude, sorry I forgot about your cub. I’m just…. Wow like just wow, you’re a dad at 17.”

“Okay I get it I’m on the younger side but Silver’s two years older than me and I’m sure I’m mature enough to raise her.” He pointed at me.

“Well you’re gonna have to be.”

“And where’s you mare-friend?”

Ouch, did my dad really just go there but more importantly. He’s only seventeen! I was at least 13 when i died, he’s literally fore years older than I was and I never thought about raising a kid.

“I’m still working on that dude….”

“It can’t be that hard, I mean mares out number us guys and her name is Eclipse Grimgost and she’s currently hiding under Glacier.”

“Eep”

“Hahahahah I won’t deny that she’s adorable.”

“thanks but where are the others?”

“I was just on my way if you want to come, oh and Galeyus has got a special somepony.”

“Really? Wow, so who asked who out first?”

“She did.”

“No surprise there and yeah we’ll come but first I was just taking eclipse to get some sweets.”

“Sure dude I’m down, I could do with a sugar rush if you’re offering.”

“Sigh* I wasn’t but you’re welcome, so is Galeyus’s mare-friend cute?”

“Totally cute and kind, he’s hit the jackpot dude.”

“I’m glad for him, so let’s get some sweets and meet them.”

I continued to stay close to the guard griffon, she would protect me if anything happened but I really wanted to be back on my father’s back.

“Eep!”

“Sorry little one, I didn’t mean to scare you but I believe it is safer up here.” She placed me upon my father’s back and I grabbed onto his feathery mane.

“Thanks Glacier.”

“Not a problem sir, she’s quite adorable.”

“Oh I know, I bet she’ll have 70% of Canterlot under her adorable control if I allowed her to.”

“Heheheheh~ surely you’re kidding.”

“Maybe, maybe not.” We went to the sweet maker’s and my dad brought me and the Pegasus stallion a bag of soft sweets each.

We then went to a cafe that was where I met my dad’s friends and they were a little more than an odd bunch.

I wasn’t too focused on remembering names but the three mares were spoiling me with sugary drinks and tasty pastries so they weren’t that bad.

But the one called Galeyus was so shy and nervous, I thought I was going to scare him off but it seemed that my father knew how to make him more comfortable…. somehow.

I think he was a griffon pony hybrid.

They were chatting about this research project and plans of creating a pharmaceutical company with funding from the princess no less.

I was surprised but after my last life, I didn’t want anything to do with hospitals or medicine. I had a healthy body now, so I wanted to enjoy this life I had been given.

Glacier was the guard griffon that was really kind to me and I think she was my dad’s personal guard too, so she could be trusted but the pony guard stallion didn’t really speak or show much emotion.

So i guess he was just assigned to my father as a show of good will or something like that.

I was allowed to wonder around the cafe but as long as I didn’t go too far, I found it odd that he was so relaxed about me doing my own thing and exploring. I’d bet if my mum was here I wouldn’t be able to leave my seat.

I was looking out the front window when a mare in an overly frilly dress walked in, she looked at me and scoffed before going to the counter.

“Rude….” Was the only thing to escape my beak before I overheard her say something so unbelievably vile about me!

“Oh isn’t it dreadful, that her highness allows such hybrids to stay in the castle. It seems like they’re multiplying too, simply revolting.”

My beak was hanging wide open and the whole cafe fell silent, even the barista looked shocked at the snobby mare’s words and then she had the audacity to make her order.

I quickly ran over to my dad but stopped upon seeing a cold emotionless expression on his face, he did not seem fazed by her words but just stared at her.

“D-daddy?” I spoke up with a shaky voice.

And upon turning to look at me, there was no sign of that cold expression. Instead it was replaced with a picture perfect fatherly smile, a smile that was too perfect if you asked me.

“Why yes sweetie?”

“Why did she c-call us hybrids.”

“Because she’s so detached from reality that she doesn’t know better, a truly sad existence if you ask me….” Then he look over his shoulder with that heartless expression. “But It almost makes one wonder if the Canterlot Carver is a bad pony, it’s not like any of the victims are good or innocent by any stretch of the word.”

Holy fuck! What ever my dad said must have been terrible because the mare just left in a panicked state…. But what’s the Canterlot Carver?”

“Anubis…. That was a bit far even for you, I mean saying something like that…. Is messed up, especially when the whole city is on high alert.”

“Yeah, I have to agree. Everypony is scared of that maniac, going around and carving up the nobles. I dislike them as much as the next pony but nopony deserves that….”

“Yeah, it’s just scary. I mean 5 dead and no leads, I wonder who will be next?”

Sigh* as entertaining as the line of thought is, I regrettably have to ask that we don’t speak of it in front of my daughter.”

They all broke eye contact and apologised before continuing with something a little more light hearted.

But now I had some context, what my father had said was beyond messed up. Although she was a total bitch I still felt bad.

Ding* Ding*

I looked to the door and…. T-the Wonderbolt’s! There was two ponies in Wonderbolt uniform and they were here.

“Yo stud, word is you got a cub?”

“Oh hey captain, yeah she’s right here.” My dad picked me up and threw me at the mare.

“Eep!”

“Wow, look at you. Just like your dad, didn’t even try to open your wings. So you want me to teach her how to fly?”

“Nah not yet, wait until she’s a little older and then teach her.”

“Fair enough but how old is she, i mean you are one for secrets.”

“Mhmmm well I could.”

“Anubis….”

“Fine, she’s like a few months old?”

“What? But she’s already talking! Don’t tell me?”

“Well what can I say but good genetics.”

“Yeah….” The mare had a raised eyebrow.

“So what brings you here?”

“You. obviously, we have a request but it’s a private matter.”

“Oh okay sure, Eclipse sweetheart. I’ll be back soon but in the meantime stay with Glacier.”

That’s when it crossed my mind, my dad called her the Captain but isn’t Spitfire the Captain?

“Okay daddy but where are you going.”

“Just to have a conversation with Captain Sky okay, I’ll be back soon.”

I nodded in understanding and he gave me a kiss on the forehead, I heard everyone in the cafe simultaneously let out a awwwww and I blushed from embarrassment.

He left with the Wonderbolts and I was left under the safe guardianship of Glacier and guard pony one.

At least I have three doting mares that are suffocating me in love and affection, they were beyond affectionate towards me and I was helpless against them.

“Awwwwww she’s just too soft, just like her daddy!”

“I know right, the griffon princess is really lucky…. But have you heard about the scandalous rumour going around?”

“No?”

“Oh I have, ponies believe that sir Anubis and princess Celestia are in love.” I let out a loud scoff at the absurd notion.

“Oh sorry little Eclipse but it’s just a silly rumour.”

“Mhmmm I don’t know, I saw first hoof how territorial her highness was of him….”

“Yeah but that could just be a maternal instinct, she did take him in after the raid on that abandoned hospital.”

The raid of the abandoned hospital? What happened and the princess took him in?

“What happened to daddy?” I gave the gossiping mares my best puppy dog eyes but they wouldn’t budge.

All I got was a volley of pained looks and a single cryptic answer.

“Your daddy didn’t have the best foal-hood….”

What happened to my dad? Was he okay? I hope it was just bad parents and nothing worse….

I could feel myself tearing up at the thought of the griffon I now called dad’s pain, had I really became that attached to him? It hadn’t even been a day and I love him so much, that the thought of him hurting hurts me….

Although I do miss my human mom and dad, I have excepted and made peace with the fact that I won’t ever see them again.

But I haven’t met my mother yet, I hope she’s nice…. I could go see her, I just have to cry out for her and I’m sure someone will take me to her.

“Sniffle* I-i want mommy!” All three mares immediately got up and Glacier picked me up and put me on her back.

Galeyus and Razor stayed to tell my dad where I had been taken whilst me and my escort of ponies and Glacier went to the castle.

I felt bad but the unknown mom I had was killing me, I just had to make sure that she was loving.

When we made it back to the castle, the guards immediately let us in without any checks. I was taken to a large oak door with a golden plated sun on it.

That’s when I heard her angelic voice, the soft motherly voice of princess Celestia. “Please come in.”

The two guards opened the doors and allowed our little group to enter, inside was the princess of the sun. I only got to see her for a brief moment when I was just gaining my bearings after waking up here.

But her coat is whiter than snow and her smile as warm as a summer day, she was just breath taking in person but then I saw what could only be my mom.

The give away was that she immediately swooped out of nowhere and buried me in a bed of feathers, although they were soft…. They weren’t my dad’s feathers by any means but they’ll just have to do for now.

That’s when I noticed that the other ponies and griffon was bowing to the princess, I was shocked but it was also pretty funny.

I turned to the griffon that was clearly my mom and examined her, she was pretty and had a very nice colour scheme. From what I could tell, she looked like a normal griffon from the show.

“Mommy?”

Her attention snapped to me and she gave a caring smile. “Yes Eclipse?”

“Why is daddy so much bigger than you?”

“Because he’s a freak of nature.”

“Sigh* Silverfeather, you can’t say that to a child.”

“Wait I can’t? But it’s not wrong, although Anubis is the last of his kind…. Well one of the last now.” She lifted me up into the air and placed me atop of Princess Celestia’s head.

I was sitting behind her horn and I noticed a lack of golden regalia on her, guess she doesn’t wear it in private.

“E-excuse me p-princess but what is that around your neck?”

I noticed Celestia poke at it with her hoof and to my surprise she stammered her words, then she lifted me up and cradles me in her warm, soft wings.

“Cough* it’s a gift from a dear friend…. I really shouldn’t say anything more and I must ask of you to not speak of it to others.”

A load flurry of agreements came from the mares but my attention was fixated on the collar around the princess’s neck and on it was her name?

“Celestia?” Escaped from my beak.

“Aaaaaaawwwww~ that’s right I’m Celestia, Princess Celestia and you are?”

“Eclipse! Heheheheheh!” She was tickling my tummy with her feathers now.

“That’s right, yes you are eclipse. The cutest little cub I’ve ever seen.” It was weird being given baby talk by the princess of the sun but in all fairness I was a baby.

When the princess brought me back into her wings I went to look at her collar but it was gone now, then the she brought me into her chest and my vision was blocked by white fur that smelled familiar to my father.

I guess they must just use the same shampoo or conditioning but despite my thoughts, I felt myself drifting off to sleep.

Curse you pretty soft princess, I won’t lose to sleep….

“Yawn*” a chorus of aaaaawwwwws rang out from all the ponies and griffons in here and I felt only slightly embarrassed.

Where’s my dad, he wouldn’t stand for this treatment.

Meanwhile under Canterlot in the facility that Anubis had constructed beneath the city sewers.

Anubis, Sky and Blazing were discussing a private request that the Captain had of the large griff.

“Please Anubis, I’ll even pay you double for a custom one.”

“Sigh* looks as much as I want to, I against you even having that let alone me making you a custom one.”

“But my soul technique is perfect for it.”

“Yeah but the magic-tech rifle was made for a last resort.”

“So? It is useful and affective in long, medium and close range combat. The ammunition is magical energy that anycreature has! So please I’m begging you.”

“Argh* fine but only before I owe you one, but you better take care of it cause I’m gonna make bloody well sure that this can last a few lifetimes.”

“Yay!!! Oh thank you stud, I know you were my favourite griff.”

“Yeah yeah now give me a day and I’ll have it modified to your liking, what time is it anyway because I have a daughter to tend to.”

“Don’t use her as an excuse, I bet she’s already self sufficient thanks to your bio-cheating.”

“It’s not cheating, it’s called playing your cards right dumb dumb.”

“Well anyway, we’d best be going and don’t forget about the longer knife at the end. That’s important! Bye Anubis!”

“See ya tomorrow….! Sigh* well at least she’ll wait, now to go back to my Eclipse…. Although I need to pay Jernick a visit and get him settled in on that island.”

So Anubis opened a portal and jumped through, winding up right in front of his brother.

“Gaaaaaaaahhhhhh! Anubis? Oh by the grace of life itself, don’t do that!”

“Okay anyway I have found our true home! And I’m here to take you and the others there as well as drop some medical and basic supplies off.”

“Oh really? Um I’ll gather everygriffon then and get ready, what time do you want us prepared for?”

“11 o’clock, just before lunch time that gives me an hour to build the foundation of a village for you oh and I got you some more gothic architecture books. I personally like the style.”

“Really!? Oh yes…. I mean thank you brother.” Jernick looked behind Anubis and the larger griff followed his gaze.

It was only the guards that were equipped with a magic-tech battle axes, their armour was not to Anubis’s liking though and now that he looked at it. He was going to equip them with magic-tech S2 Carbines for Jernick’s protection.

“Stand down, it’s only me.”

“Our apologies king Anubis, we thought you were an intruder. Please we didn’t mean any offence or disrespect.”

“None taken, now rise and return back to your posts.”

“Of course our lord.”

“Okay so I’ll return at 11 and expect everything and creature ready to move.”

“Don’t worry brother, I’ll have them ready in time.”

“Good, now I must leave before they get suspicious of my absence.”

“Good bye Anubis, see you at 11.”

“See you then, bye.” And with that Anubis trotted through a portal he created which took him to the cafe.

When he entered the cafe he only saw Razor and Galeyus, the girls and guards were gone along with his daughter.

So he interrogated the two at the table, his psychotic grin unnerving them. After telling Anubis where the others when with his daughter, both Galeyus and Razor felt like they had betrayed the girls.

Whilst the large griff took off into the sky, heading towards the castle or more specifically Celestia’s private study.

Just before he landed on the balcony, Anubis turned all his cells in his body transparent enough to the point of complete invisibility. Then he snuck in and got behind Silver.

All of a sudden Princess Silverfeather’s wings shot up and she lets out a loud moan.

“Oh my, it seems your body is now requiring attention from your mate. If you would like me to, I’d be more than happy to watch over Eclipse?”

“R-Really?”

“Of course.”

“T-Thank you Celestia, you the best.”

“Oh but I have one question, do your parents know about your daughter?”

Silverfeather’s mind froze and this was apparent by the look on her face. “n-no….”

“Would you like me to send a letter?”

“No. I’ll tell them next month when me and Anubis go to the capital.”

Celestia didn’t think this was a smart idea and by the faces of the others, they didn’t think so either.

Then she stiffened up, this however was so subtle that the other occupants of the room didn’t notice. She felt a large claw firmly grasp her flanks and immediately realised what had gotten Silver excited.

She smirked softly and flicked her tail in his general direction but hit nothing.

Anubis suppressed a giggle and sneaked out the window, he glided down to an empty alleyway before reverting back to normal and walking out with a slight bounce in his step towards the castle gate.
