The psychotic gentlegriff

Celestia and Anubis were wondering aimlessly in the under-city of Old Leakon, they hadn’t crossed any other squid-griffons.

To be frank they didn’t want to find more, the alabaster Alicorn was on edge due to the possibility of being attacked by something she couldn’t see. She had faith in her griff but the slightest possibility of him missing one or being taken off guard, scared her.

“Celestia, dead ahead. Can you see it?”

“Yes but what is it?”

“Don’t know but if it’s hostile, then it’s in for a bad day.”

“Agreed.”

They approached it with a steady pace and once they got within wings reached, the large cat like beast spun around and let out a manic laugh before disappearing. Leaving behind a playing card with its face on it, wearing a large Cheshire grin.

“A Cheshire Cat….” Anubis hissed out.

“And I’m meant to know what that means?”

Pop*

“Oh no no no. You are a confusing one aren’t you?” The large cat appeared behind them and was staring at the cat bird hybrid.

Celestia jumped in between them with her sword raised, that’s when she noticed that the cat smiled at her but not at Anubis.

“What do you want!?” She demanded with a confident tone.

“Heheheheheheheheh~ quite a feisty one but I only what to give knowledge.”

“Cheshire cat, we don’t want trouble or trickery. We only seek an exit from this place, can or will you guide us?”

“Mmmmmmmmmmmmaybe? Leeeeeeeeeeet me think really hard about this Necrovine, should I help you or not? Sigh* very well, I shall.”

“Thank you but what do you mean Necrovine?”

“A Necrovine is an ascended one of you’re kind.” After the cat said that, Celestia noticed that it was grinning at Anubis.

“Would you look at that, you know something I don’t. Well that’s an interesting name for my kind…. Anyway, we need to leave this place. Can you show us where the exit is?”

“Oh I know where it is but it’s guarded by a creature of fear, a beast so old that it was here before the city and if I show you it. That thing would want nothing more than to make you two loyal followers of its name.”

“Just great, so how do we kill it?”

“Not a clue, well I have one…. But it’s a gamble, so are you feeling lucky?”

“Well Swan neck? Do you want to believe this cat?”

“What choice do we really have….”

“Oh splendid! Oh but I’d recommend that you two collect a few bits and bobs before i show you, I mean if you would like the best chance of survival.”

“So what do we need?”

Pop*

The cat had disappeared and in its place was a list of items, some familiar and some not so much.

“Sigh* well it looks like we’re playing this cat’s game, hey Zodiac are we being played?”

‘Probably Anubis but I’m sure you and your mate could defeat that crazy feline.’

“Hopefully it doesn’t have to come to that.”

“Anubis. What is a Cheshire Cat?” Her patience was running low at this point.

“Oh sorry, a Cheshire Cat is a grinning cat that has an endless supply of knowledge but takes great pleasure in tricking and deceiving others.”

“So why are we trusting this cat?”

“Because we don’t have much of a choice right now but if we have to fight it then we’ll just have to out smart it somehow….”

“Well I’d like to think that we’re both smart enough…. Right?”

“Celestia this isn’t a battle of wits in the traditional sense, it would be in reality braking knowledge or cosmic knowledge of the great ones…. Speaking of which, is a Cheshire Cat a.” Zodiac cut him off.

‘No the feline isn’t one and yes I have far more eons of experience then that thing, it wasn’t made naturally by any means. It was made through the mad experiments of a long dead cat person by the name Gulsaw the deranged.’

“Gulsaw the deranged?”

Celestia perked up and looked over to Anubis. “Why did you say Gulsaw the deranged?”

“You know of him?”

“Her. And yes I do, she was apparently a crazy lunatic that experimented on her own children. I think her books claimed that she was trying to ascend one of them.”

“Well it seems like she managed to successfully ascend one of them and he seems just as mad.”

“but it says that her experiments happened over 4000 years ago!! That’s not possible!”

“Oh it is…. I mean I managed it, come on don’t act like you haven’t be a little uncomfortable with my magic lately. It’s a natural response to a potential threat.”

“Sigh* this is a fever dream, it has to be….”

“Cough* cough* no it’s not fire flanks.”

“Can we just take a moment please, this is a lot to process and this is just a concern but….” Her hesitant made Anubis uneasy. “Are you going to go mad? I mean because you just know things that don’t make sense, you’ve just ascended as you say and it’s getting harder not to be worried about Zodiacrdanals.”

The confident griff just looked at her with a look of indifference. “Look Celestia, I’m definitely going through some changes but I’m not going crazy anytime soon, well I’m going crazy for you and Silver…. But I know this stuff because my mind has access to zodiac’s memories as does he to mine.”

“B-but what if you lose yourself?!”

“Then make me remember, i mean worst case scenario I have to fall in love with you all over again.”

“Heheheheh~ I don’t know if I like or hate that you have an answer for everything, so shouldn’t we be moving now?”

“Yep we bloody well should, let’s go.”

They had wondered around the undercity for what felt like hours now, encountering and killing a large number and all sorts of freakishly experiments. Anubis didn’t really feel disgusted by them but Celestia was completely revolted by the things, she made it very clear the things that had gone on here did not sit well with her.

They had explored two main areas, the first was a tightly packed city that they both immediately went to the library which had all sorts of forbidden spell books that the regal Alicorn couldn’t read.

Anubis was actually thinking that the fact his portals had brought them here was a good thing, otherwise all this forgotten knowledge would have been lost. He was going to translate the books so Celestia could read them or just read them to her.

Then there was the diseased forest of bioluminescent flowers, Celestia found it to be beautiful but Anubis didn’t care for the look. He wanted to know the medicinal properties of them, he had been documenting old Leakon in a journal.

Evan in this less than enjoyable area Celestia was making the most of it, she had made a glowing flower crown for both her and her mate.
She used her magic to put it on his head whilst he scanned the area for threats and writ what he could see, smell and feel.

He went cross eyed and Celestia laughed at the cute expression he made, before putting on her own flower crown and giving him a kiss.

“Prince Anubis has a ring to it, wouldn’t you agree?”

“Nah I’m not a crown guy, I much prefer lord of grim or Doctor Grimgost.”

“Heheheheheheheh~ oh doctor~ I need a check up, please help me and I might reward you.”

He adorned a smug smile and walked past her, flicking her with his tail. “I’m terribly sorry but I’m spoken for my dear and I’d like to keep this professional too please.”

“Wha?! But I’m your mare?”

“Exactly, a mare. I’ve been warned about you mares, truly deceitful creatures.”

She glared at him before it softened. “Sigh* that took me a little longer to get then I’m proud to say, but good griff.”

“Dirty mare~ I can smell you from here, I thought her highness had self control?”

“I do!”

“Mmmmmm yeah sure.”

“I really do!”

“I really believe you.”

“Huff* suck your own dick after this because I’m not.”

“It’s fine, that just means more for Silver.”

The playful little argument was about to be interrupted by a large flower covered spider that was three times bigger than Celestia.

The arachnid pulled back and exposed its fangs, shining with venom.

Anubis noticed and screamed like a little filly before pushing Celestia out of the way.

Crash*

“Gasp* gasp* no! Fuck that!!”

“Anubis! What was that for…. Oh my gosh, that thing’s huge.”

She looked back to find Anubis trembling in terror, that’s went it hit her. Anubis has arachnophobia.

She spun around and charged her horn with a lightning spear and fired it, the electric spear hit the spider’s fangs and arched throughout it entire body killing it.

The charred remains fell down and twitch as it curled up in a ball, the grinning Alicorn turned to Anubis and trotted up to him.

“So~ you’re scared of spiders?”

“Fuck off…. I just don’t like them, they’re just wrong in every way possible.”

“You actually have arachnophobia? I’m surprised…. I mean it’s just…. Wow, spiders scare you.” She went to stroke him but upon contact he jumped up and took a few steps back.

“Anubis?”

“Sorry, I just…. I’m a little shaken up is all give us a minute.”

She went to his side and nuzzled up to him, trying to calm him down.

“O-okay I’m terrified of spiders….”

“That’s fine, I myself don’t particularly like them either.”

“Inhale* sigh* yeah I can see why…. Anyway let’s get going, I want to get you out of here.”

She helped him up and they continued on their way, they followed a path down to a little fishing village that was at a lake that was a deep crimson red.

At the shore was a washed up dead aquatic creature that resembled a large silver slug, the residences of the lake side village were all squid-griffon abominations.

They both checked their weapons and continued down the road towards an old crumbling church like building, Celestia was on edge and Anubis could tell just by looking at her.

The alabaster Alicorn had her wings raised ready for flight and her mane wasn’t flowing in a non-existent wind.

“Swan neck, wait before you go in. I need to ask you something, when we get home and get the ball rolling with the medical research team.”

“Yes?”

“Would it be possible to get some fresh corpses, to conduct and test new medicines and treatments?”

“What?!?!”

“I mean it’s better than doing it on living subjects.”

“…it is but…. Anubis…. I can’t promise anything but if it’s going to advance health care for Equestrian citizens then I’ll try to work something out.”

“Thanks…. It means a lot to me that you’re even humouring mine and Galeyus’s passion project.”

“Don’t mention it, I’m happy to help you help others anyway I can.”

“Okay now no more stalling, let’s go and fuck shit up.”

“You’re enjoying this?”

“You’re not?”

“Okay maybe a little bit.”

“See good stress relief.”

They went into the decrepit building and Celestia immediately shot toward the small zombie standing behind the altar.

“Ahhhhhhhhh! No please! I beg you please!”

She stopped her blade inches away from the…. Pony’s neck?

“A pony but how?”

“Ah um oh so this is…. Wow, a pony really ascended. So I was right it is possible!”

“Anubis come here please.”

“Mhmmmm a unicorn…. With fangs?”

“A bat-pony but i thought all the bat-pony unicorns were hunted down by the solar radical group.”

“Solar radical group?”

“A bunch of idiots that appeared after my sister’s banishment, they were nothing more than a cult that worship me.”

“So I take it you disbanded them.”

“Yes and it was quite a violent disbandment, especially after I found out that they were murdering innocent bat-ponies.”

“Yeah but I don’t think this is a normal bat-pony.”

“Um hello, I’m down here. Eep! Sorry.” Celestia had shot him a glare. “Okay look I’m not a normal bat-pony as you call them, I’m actually a Vampony and I’ve been here since before the blood began to drive every creature mad.”

“So you can give us a little history lesson then?”

“I can but I ask for a drop of blood please, I mean good blood of course.” Anubis raised an eyebrow. I haven’t had any since it went bad and poisoned the griffons.”

“Fine you can have a drop.” Celestia interrupted.

“Um could I have a drop of his, please….”

“Very well….” She moved away and lowered her sword. “A vampony? I thought they were just a myth.”

“Well all myths are based in some form of truth my love.” Anubis slit his wrist and put the wound up to the rotting unicorn vampony. “Now drink.”

“I-I um you’re giving me more than just a drop?” Tears began to well up in his hollow eyes as the vampony bit down and began to drink Anubis’s blood.

“Mmmmmmmmmmm oh mmmmmmmmmmm gasp!!!* oh wow, the quality is incredible. Oh and the purity is unlike anything I’ve ever had before, oh by the blood gods you’re a treat.”

Celestia was eyeing the vampony with a look of jealousy, she was now wondering if Anubis’s blood tasted that good and if so she needed it. She knew that Anubis like to lick her wounds but was it because of instinct or a fondness for her blood, he did have fangs and they were large so….

Meanwhile the vampony was looking a lot more alive and healthier that a moment ago, he was half the size of Anubis and coat as dark as coal with a mane that was a dark midnight purple.

His cutie mark was a crescent crimson moon with a purple nebula behind it.

“So what’s your name?”

“Hiccup* heheheh oh it’s Nebula Bloodmoon.”

“Nice name, mine’s Anubis Grimgost and this sexy Alicorn is my mate Celestia…. I don’t even know your last name and we’ve been together since mid autumn.”

“And you won’t ever know it, not to mention I’ll be taking your name soon.”

“Wow, I can see that you like a challenge mister Grimgost. She’s got some attitude.”

“Excuse me? I most definitely don’t have an attitude.”

“In all honesty, it’s not that bad….”

“Hush you.”

“Yes dear.”

“Wow…. Now that I think about it, I don’t really remember the last time I spoke to anycreature, that’s not insane.”

“Well I’m sorry to hear that but I have a question, why did you come here? To the south continent.”

“Because ponies were still somewhat primitive…. I mean unicorns lived in caves, Earth ponies had thatch huts and didn’t really know how to properly farm and Pegasi were just attacking everything.”

“So you left?”

“Yeah, I mean this place was so ahead of its time and it was at least a few thousand years old when I made my voyage…. It’s just a shame that they learnt things that they shouldn’t have and went crazy.”

“So what are some of the advancement that this place has?” Anubis asked.

“Oh the city wide auto translator, without it we wouldn’t be able to speak. I’m pretty sure it was the only city to have it, I had to learn the language before going further inland.”

“So what were they studying here that went bad?”

“The blood of the lake, the griffons here really liked blood. To the point where it had sentimental value between partners and of course that’s why I came here too.”

“For blood?”

“Yes to study it but when the lead researchers saw things they shouldn’t have, they went crazy and poisoned the lake as well as summoned the unholy gods.”

CRASH*

Slash*

Thud*

“Celestia!!!” Anubis spun around to face the attacker and froze when he saw himself with his bone blades extended.

The counterpart swung at the griff and everything went dark.

“Gasp* Ce…. Celestia? Oh thank fuck…. It was just a dream, a bloody nightmare.” He had awoken to find himself holding the mare he loved in his claws.

He felt tears dampen his fur and feathers but did not care, he was to grateful to have been dreaming but surely Zodiacrdanals should have been there to tell him?

Oddly enough his heart was pounding and his blood surged through his veins with a fever like feeling, sweat covered him beak to tail and he had a wildly smile on his face witched slowly turned to confusion.

He was holding his journal and it had the details and crude drawings of Old Leakon’s under city.

His thoughts were, what, how and was it just a dream?

As he looked around him, he figured that he had feel into a deep slumber whilst Celestia was preening him.

“Is this what real fear feels like? It’s so liberating….”

“Mmmmmmm Anubis?”

“Hush now fire flanks, sorry I woke you.”

“Mhmmmmm don’t be, good night my love.” She nuzzled up to him and drifted back to sleep.

“I love you too.” He held her tighter and tried to fall back to sleep but just couldn’t, he was rattled by his dream.

He felt like it was real and not a dream but he wasn’t going to risk it with Celestia, he’ll just have to explore the underground city another time.

The next morning, him and Princess Celestia had eaten an oddly delicious breakfast and spoke about getting the paper work signed of for his research project before he opened a portal to Canterlot Castle.

“Wait here, if I don’t come back don’t come looking for me.”

“But?”

“Promise!”

“I promise….”

“Thank you, smooch* love you.” He jumped in and a few seconds passed with no response.

Some more time passed before the large griff Jumped back through the portal and he immediately began to transporting all the belongings and ancient objects Celestia had collected through.

Anubis then lifted the alabaster Alicorn up onto his back, she snuggled into the feathery mane of him as he walked through the portal.

“And! We’re home!”

When Celestia’s eyes adjusted she realised that she was in her room, she climbed off him and began to dump all her old and new belongings into a chest at the far side of her room.

“That’s useful but where’s Silver?”

“No clue but I’m sure she already eating breakfast.”

“Oh well I guess it’s my turn.” Anubis’s eyes widened as Celestia’s horn lit up and pop.

Pop*

“Ouch….” Anubis was stumbling around trying to regain his balance whilst the alabaster Alicorn was fixated on something in her seat.

“Um Anubis? There somecreature in my seat.”

“Gasp* oh you two are back! Oh um wait Nubie close your eyes!”

“What!?! Why?”

Silver quickly ran out of the dining hall and happily trotted back in holding something with her wing.

“Silver, who is the little.”

“Shut!” The hen in Alicorn’s clothing silenced the regal mare and got in front of Anubis, she then knelt down on her front hooves and pulled out a small box.

“Oh my goodness….” Celestia breathlessly whispered.

“You can open your eyes Nubie.” He did so and found an ornate engagement band in front of him, the main jewel was a beautiful flat white rose ruby.

“Oh! Oh wow, Silver…. Dear god it’s incredible….”

“S-So….”

“Yes. I’d be happy to, yes of course….” He trailed off as his gaze fell on a tiny cub sitting at the table eating pancakes, Silver began to worry until Anubis placed his claws on top of her head and returned her to herself. “Why and how is Eclipse here? And Celestia I will explain everything shortly….”

“Anubis…. She doesn’t smell like you and Silver, just you…. And some creature else….”

“I’ll explain. But first spill the beans Nimrod.”

“Eep, um but it’s still a yes?”

“Sigh* yes, put it on me…. Wow, you even got my size. So mind explaining?”

“Gulp* um well I thought that she might have been lonely, so I went to the Everfree Mansion and got her….”

Celestia spun around with the cub in her mouth by the scruff of her neck. “Mansion? Anubis?”

“Shit….”

“Gasp* daddy said a bad word! Oh no!”

“Argh!!! Okay, everycreature quite whilst I just rearrange my thoughts.” The large griffon was now rubbing his temples whilst his two mates waited for an answer. “So I made a Mansion in the Everfree and Eclipse here is my daughter but….”

Anubis casted a sound bubble around her before continuing.

“But she isn’t biologically mine, I may have used necromancy and genetically altered her to be mine. Still following?”

Celestia just nodded and Anubis took the cub from her grasp.

“And now you’re turn to explain what had happened whilst we’re were gone.”

Silver gulped but spoke up with a slight smile. “I managed to govern your ponies with ease and we only had a few small attacks from dream spirits, as for Eclipse, I just made her legally our daughter and Celestia is her stepmother too but I’m down as her biological mother.”

Celestia just walked over to the window and looked out at the city below, smiling at the lack of chaos. “Well I have some good news to…. There is a good chance I’ll become pregnant within the coming months, so I guess this calls for a celebration. Oh and I need to fill out the paperwork for your medical research team as well as your noble status.”

“Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee oh my gosh!!!! Really? Oh wow Celestia, was this planned? I mean you did agree quite early.”

“Mhmmmm I’m starting to have my suspicions now…. What do you think Eclipse? Was dad tricked by the evil mare?”

“No! You too smart…. Right?”

“Awwwww of course I am.”

“Heheheheheheh~ she just the cutest little thing but Anubis…. Necromancy? Why with keeping secrets?” Celestia whispered that last part. “Sigh* we’ll speak later stud, I have some forms to fill out and potential damage control.”

“So~ Nubie can we do the thing you promised?”

“Not now, I have a cub to watch over…. It’s funny how you manage to coc. I mean foil your own plans, he heh hehaa….”

“B-but!”

“Don’t worry I’ll keep my end of the bargain, I did promise after all.”

“Oh okay….” Silver’s ears were pinned to her head, Anubis noticed this and brought her into a kiss.

Little Eclipse tried to give her mummy a kiss as well, the adorable cub was mimicking her father’s actions in an attempt to cheer her mum up.

“Heheheheheh, how cute but I think I’m going to take this little monster out around the City.”

“Well take some guards and Glacier.”

“Okay fine but only one royal guard and Glacier, tell them to meet me down at the front gate.”

“Thank you.” She gave Eclipse a kiss on the forehead and pranced out, the cub happily giggled.

“So let’s give you a soul and get ready, then hit the town.”

“Yay!”

“Canterlot isn’t ready for your cuteness…. Sugar, I’m still seventeen and with a daughter. So how do I explain this, sigh* well at least we get to enjoy my classmates reactions to you.”

“Class-mates?”

“Yep friends and acquaintances.”

Anubis put her down and she immediately began bouncing towards the large doors.

“Let’s go! Let’s go!”

“Slow down now you little menace. I need to give you a soul.”

“Why?”

“Because you need one.”

“Oh okay….”

Anubis levitated her up and blue mist began to whirl around her as sweat began to form on his brow, this was taking a lot more than he had expected. But the griff persevered and even the mist formed into a soft blue flame that flowed into the little cub’s beak as she fell asleep.

“Gasp* Woow that was intense…. Okay now to see Celestia quickly and explain the Necromancy, I hope she doesn’t have anything against the magic type…. But at least you have a soul my little floppy eared menace.”

Anubis placed his cub on his back and walked towards Celestia’s private study.

Upon entering the study he was met with a sight most unexpected, Silver and Celestia were celebrating with sweet treats and party streamers strung around the room.

“Mhmmmmm yes, important paperwork and royal duties?”

“Anubis?!” They both said simultaneously with a hint of shock.

“In the flesh and with Eclipse, who is resting.”

“Heheheheheh~ sorry honey….”

“So you wanted to speak with me about my necromancy, honestly I’m surprised you didn’t make the connection. I mean it’s just a branch of advanced biomancy and soul manipulation in some cases.”

“Yes but that’s the problem, it’s extremely dangerous in the wrong hooves and isn’t the most ethical type of magic in the world…. Not that dark magic is ethical in any way.”

“Sigh* relax swan neck, look at eclipse and tell me she’s unethical.” Anubis turned to his side and put the sleeping cub on display for Celestia.

“Awwwwwwww come on Celestia, look at her sleeping so soundly. Necromancy can’t be that bad if Anubis uses it to give her another chance.”

“I uh look just don’t use it no more, it’s far too unpredictable and dangerous Anubis….”

“Look I won’t unless I have no choice okay.”

Celestia made her way to him and guided his head into a kiss before licking his ear. “Thank you and your escort of guards is waiting by the gate, be safe.”

He went to leave but Silver spoke up.

“Oh Anubis before you go, may I ask what’s so special about your butt feathers?”

“Heheheheh~ so she told you about them.”

“Hey I was only sharing valuable information with her.”

“She did.”

“Hello? I’m talking.” Celestia was getting frustrated with being ignored by her two mates.

“Well let’s just say that I had never slept like that ever before in my life.”

“Oh was it that good? I can’t wait to see~ but i think I’ll save it for our deal.”

“If you want to then I won’t stop you but let’s not speak of such acts in the presents of a child.”

“Right…. But she’s asleep?”

“Doesn’t matter.”

“Fine….”

“Good, love you both and see you at dinner. I need to find the rag-tag team of fool I call friends, bye bye.” And with that Anubis left the two females to continue their celebrating.
