Later that evening Anubis was on a large island just off the coast of the south continent, he was currently speaking with Jernick and just checking on how the situation was there.

To his pleasure, he was not required to help. His brother had stepped up marvellously and had everything under control, the only thing he could offer was technical and medical assistance.

Which he did, building infrastructure was something that had become a pain to do but at least it was something he and his brother were capable of doing quickly.

Anubis was also pleased that Jernick had taken him up on his offer to gift him with longevity, the only thing his brother lacked now was his connection to Zodiacrdanals.

All in all things were going great and the residences loved to see him among them, with the check up, future plans laid out for this place concluded. He had one more thing to do and that was check up on Soft Claws and the new borns.

She had decided to become a doctor under the guidance of Anubis himself, he tort her all she needed to know for now and she conducted research requests on behalf of her mentor regarding the local wildlife.

He and Jernick were walking together on there way to the structure that was referred to as the house of healing, Anubis honestly preferred the name hospital but the others didn’t like it too much so he gave in.

“So brother, have you had any issues with the local wildlife?”

“Not really, we’ve honestly been doing good in terms of hunting and agricultural advancements. We’re currently working on farming vegetables, grain and this delicious new species of wild boar.

That is great to hear because if I’m correct in my assessment, the next few years we’ll probably see a major jump in population growth.”

“You really think so?”

“Yep, I’ll lay out a multi generational plan for this place. All you have to do is follow through with it, it will cover everything from internal security to international trade…. Hopefully one day we’ll be able to populate the main land and restore the great cites to their former glory.”

“Well I have complete faith in your judgment, you have led us astray yet and I doubt you’re going to do so in the future.”

“Well it’ll be rather counterproductive to misguide you, all of you are valuable to me in one way or another.”

“R-really? Because it seems like you’re the only important one, if something happens to you then we’re all done for….”

“That’s not true, you are my back up just in case something does happen.”

“What?! B-but that’s not going to happen, right?”

“We can hope for the best but inevitably plan for the worst.”

“Since when did you become all sage like, giving out wisdom?”

“Oh shut it.”

“Very well brother, I have some matters to attend to so I must bid you farewell.”

“Good bye Jernick, until next time.”

“Until next time Anubis.”

As Anubis walked through the settlement, he was swarmed by the young all climbing over their king. He did not complain or speak, he only continued forward, until one of them asked a question.

“Why can’t we go to the south continent? Um king Grim sir?!”

“No need for the title now, but to answer your question. It is because there are dangers on the south continent and none of you are prepared for them yet.”

“So one day when we are ready, we can go?”

“One day, I would like to have outposts on that land but that is far away from now.”

“Why?”

“Because it is unexplored, not only is the wild life dangerous but the environment and ancient ruins. So it needs to be explored and mapped, who knows what awaits us in the middle of that vast place. Isn’t it truly a wondrous time to be alive?”

The group of cubs all gave a collective gasp followed by a wow, they were all filled with questions about the main land and wanted answers.

Answer that they’d have to discover themselves.

“I’ll bring back some artefacts when I return, for you see I am leaving for the main land tonight.”

“B-be careful King Grim, don’t get hurt please.”

“Don’t be silly, he’s King Anubis Grimgost. He’ll be fine Gusto.”

“Heheheh~ you are all so sweet but I must see the new comers to this world now, please eagerly await my return.”

“Yes King Anubis sir! We will!!”

A collective good bye was called out to Anubis as he continued down his path towards the place known as the house of healing.

“Greetings how may we help…. You…. King Anubis! Is something wrong my lord?! Please wait whilst I retrieve Doctor Soft Claws.”

Anubis cut off the frantic griff and calmed him down. “No! I am well, I’m only here to see the new borns and speak with the doctor.”

“Sigh* thank goodness, I-I’ll get her now.”

“Thank you kindly.”

A few minutes later the griff came back with Doctor Soft Claws, she looked tired but still had a smile on her beak.

“Hello sir, it’s been a busy day but we were blessed with a total of 11 new borns. 5 hens and 6 griffs.”

“That is splendid news but it’s seriously seems that I shouldn’t keep you for too long now, you need rest, you’ve earned it.”

“Thank you King Anubis but if it wouldn’t be a problem, please may I have a cup of your tea sir.”

“Mhmmm I guess the rumours about it have spread, very well then but only because you deserve it. It’s actually quite miraculous that you’ve taken to the craft so well, not many can deal with the reality’s of this role.”

“Thank you so much sir…. So do you have any new medical treatments or medicine for us?”

“No but what I do have is a way for you to make and manufacture medicine in house, I’ll quickly explain how and it should be ready for use by next week.”

“That would be a big help, as reliable as you are, it makes sense to start making the stuff here. If for whatever reason you can’t get anything to us, then we are screwed.”

“Yep, as unlikely as that is to happen, I’m not so arrogant as to think that I’m invincible or unstoppable. It’s honestly a humbling feeling.”

“Sir your far to humble in my opinion, your literally a genius.”

“Thank you but you're ability to take in the knowledge I provide is miraculous in itself… and your capable too, it’s really quite remarkable if you ask me.”

“Oh stop it, I’m sure you have somewhere to be.”

“I do but I’m in no rush so let me make you some tea.”

“Thank you again my lord.”

They went into Soft’s living space and Anubis immediately made himself at home, getting to work on making some tea.

He had found it funny that his griffons had began to refer to it as The tea of Anubis, it probably didn’t help that it had actual healing properties or could stay good for an indefinite amount of time.

All he had to do is package it in tea bags and sell it, he could even make a pretty penny in the capital and send the bits here to trade with other nations. But he could just turn coal into the finest of gold ingots and call it a day, creation was a cheat code for jump starting a nation.

But he didn’t mind one bit, just as long as they don’t get carried away with it.

After a 30 minutes of idol chatter, Anubis took his leave and he opened a portal to Old Leakon and went from there.

But as he went to fly up into the air, zodiac took control of his body.

‘Excuse me but why?’

“Because you were about to fly into death, the skies are with Eldridge beasts that not even I am able to scale up to.”

‘So not a good thing then, that’s just marvellous but why can’t I see them?’

“I’m not sure but it’s concerning to say the least.”

‘So we’re going to have to walk it? At this rate we’re not getting anywhere fast.’

“Yes but progress is progress, I’ll get started whilst you just enjoy the ride.”

‘Sure mate, have fun.’

As Zodiac made his way deeper into the jungle he noticed the cosmic beings that resided in the sky were getting closer to the ground, it when from a 1000 meter high dead zone to a 750 meter dead zone.

This change occurred past a thick layer of fog that was localised to that area.

But what surprised Zodiac was the creatures that resided behind the fog, they were wondrous in their appearance and capabilities. Although they couldn’t leave the fog or get past the cosmic horrors that loomed over head, they weren’t being attacked just blocked.

“How odd? Why is that?”

Crash*

ROAR!!!!!!*

“And what are you?”

The beast that Zodiac was gazing at was a wonderful sight to behold, it was every parts fascinating as it was majestic.

“I wonder what mysteries the south continent is hiding, it’s been left to the elements for who knows how long. The Necrovine artefacts might only be scratching the surface of this cosmic iceberg.”

He decided to begin documenting the beasts of this vast jungle, even the trees looked alien to the cosmic creature piloting Anubis’s body.

For what ever reason the jungles within the continental wide wall of fog were enormous jungle trees with pink leaves and dark red trunks.

The ground was rich with snow white flowers, deep green vines scaled up the trees reaching for the heavens above.

Feeding on them was odd bat like reptiles that glided from tree to tree, avoiding the ground beneath them.

It was a complete different world from the Dreamscape and waking world, this was a completely different place but what confused him was the strange structures that littered the jungle.

Gothic style buildings and infrastructure that had been lost to the ever changing world, hidden by this fog. Forgotten and abandoned by its creators.

No skeletons, no destruction, no death just a lack of. Why was that? What caused this? But what ever it was, Zodiac had a suspicion that it had something to do with Anubis’s shared dream about Old Leakon.

“I guess I’m not entirely done with that place…. And I haven’t got much more time. Sigh*”

Zodiac opened a portal and poked his head through, on the other side he was met with a panicked solar princess stuffing her face with cake.

“Gulp* cough* cough* hi um a-Anubis, it’s not what it looks like….” A nervous cake covered smile was on her muzzle.

“You can relax, I’m Zodiacrdanals.”

Celestia slowly took another bite of a slice of pineapple cake and visually relaxed when he said nothing.

“I guess that has its advantages…. Although where are you?”

“Old Leakon…. Going to Old Leakon mortal, don’t worry he’s resting right now and I’m not going to inform him either.”

“Gulp* t-thanks…. But be safe.”

And with that he pulled his head back through the portal and closed it, then opening another one and repeating the motion.

However this time it led to his chosen destination, the old church of Old Leakon’s under city.

After jumping through the portal he began walking down the twisty cobblestone path towards the crumbling church, there was only one biological reading of life inside the building.

Zodiac had a hunch what or who it could be and strutted right in there.

And there was the individual who Zodiac wanted, Nebula Bloodmoon. When he entered the building, the starved vampony unicorn immediately turned around and hid behind the altar.

“Nebula fear not, I come in peace. Now show yourself to me, I need information.”

“Wha!? B-but how do you know my name?”

“That’s not important, what is important is the information about the wall of fog that circles around the continent. Of course I’ll reward you for the information.”

“Gulp* Wh-what sort of re-reward?”

Zodiac could tell that Nebula was terrified, everything from his body language to his shaky voice and jittery jaw.

“You are a vampony, Correct?”

“Ye-yes.”

“Then how about some blood, good blood, my blood.”

“R-really?”

“Why of course, so do you know what the fog is?”

“Gulp* the fog has always been there, it’s a barrier between the different environments on this land…. If I recall correctly, there are 9 barriers the closer to the centre you go and each one presents a different and unique effect on those who try to leave them. You can go in easily but returning becomes harder and harder the closer to the centre you go, no one’s ever even returned from the 7th barrier just notes, artefacts and information…. But that was so so very long ago, so…. Can I have some b-blood please?”

“I’m a being of my word, here, take your fill.”

Zodiac tilted his head and exposed his neck for the vampony to see, almost immediately Nebula began to salivate. No longer was he nervous, now he was fixated on a single point. Zodiac’s neck.

“A-as much as I want?”

“As much as you require, please help yourself.”

The starved unicorn vampony wasted no time and lunged at zodiac, sinking both fangs into his neck. The cosmic entity could feel the blood sucker hungrily drinking.

Until he eventually pulled himself off, leaving a whining Nebula with blood dripping down his maw.

“T-thank you so so so much Zodiac, i…. Don’t remember the last time I had a good drink like that, it’s been so long…. Too long.”

“I’m glad, well then I’m going to take my leave then.”

“WAIT! Wait please, c-can I come with you. I have nothing really left here, I don’t want to stay here.”

“I could use a loyal servant…. Or Anubis would use you for a lab assistant, no probably a test subject.”

“I can be loyal! I’ll do it just take me with you please.”

“Very well then, follow me.”

Zodiac open a portal and walked through, Nebula Bloodmoon was unsure at first but decided to jump through.

Upon landing on the other side, he skidded into the wall and smacked his muzzle against it.

“Ow….”

“I’m glad you didn’t get scared by the portal Bloodmoon.”

“Yeah.”

“Anyway this will be you’re room, I’ll give you the base necessities and some extra stuff for decoration. We’ll work out the details later, as for now you can entertain yourself with those books or you can tinker with the scrap materials. Good night Nebula.”

“Thank you again and good night Zodiac.”

Once Zodiac fix some basic accommodation for Nebula Bloodmoon, he then went to the castle and made his way to his room. Upon entering he heard scurrying and immediately pulled the bed sheets off, exposing a sheepish looking Eclipse.

In her claws was a collection of baked cookies, she gingerly offered him a cookie as the sun began to rise behind her and Zodiac decided to gently take the sugary treat.

“Sigh* did you get any sleep little one?”

“Nope…. S-sorry.”

“It’s fine don’t be, so how did you get the cookies?”

“Mommy Celestia.”

“Well come here, we’ll go visit your mothers but first let me use the bathroom.”

“Mhmmmm mhmm okay.”

Zodiac went in and immediately switched places with Anubis but because he was in a state of unconsciousness, he instantly flopped to the floor and took the sink with him.

A load crash rang out and Eclipse jumped out of her skin, rapidly rushing to the bathroom door.

“Squawk* daddy! Daddy!? Are you okay?!”

On the other side of that door Anubis was getting up.

“Gah~ ouch…. Fffffuck um okay I can fix that…. And…. Pow, all fixed.”

He went to settle down his worried daughter but didn’t notice that he was drenched in water, so when he opened the door Eclipse freaked out and ran front him.

“Ahhhh yucky, you’re covered in wee. Messy daddy had an accident! Get away!”

“It’s not wee….”

His deadpan tone didn’t help calm her down.

“How did you wee on yourself!?! Get in the bath before you get wee on me!”

“Sigh* I’ll be a minute….”

Whilst Anubis got cleaned up, little Eclipse waited patiently outside for her dad. That’s when Anubis’s new maid came in, she found the cute cub just sitting right in front of the door to the bathroom.

“Eep! Who are you?”

“Heheheh~ oh calm down sweetie, I’m your daddy’s personal maid and I’m here to clean up his room…. So what might you be waiting for?”

“Toilet.”

“What’s taking you daddy so long?”

“He peed on himself, so he’s having a bath.”

Cloudy had a look of horror and mild confusion on her face.

“Sigh* I guess some things are universal….”

“Yep…. Boys are gross.”

At that moment Anubis opened the door to the bathroom and walked out, his coat was glossy and feathers soft.

But Eclipse didn’t care, she just ran past him and went for the toilet. She didn’t even close the door, so Anubis pushed it closed with his tail.

“Morning Cloudy.”

He went to pat her on the head but the bat pony in disguise jumped away.

“Um okay, what’s the matter?”

“You sure that you cleaned up all the wee off of yourself?”

“For fuck sakes, yes because it wasn’t pee.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes…. And don’t even think about telling anycreature.”

“I won’t sir but your daughter, she’s going to tell the entire world.”

“Sigh* yep she will.”

“AND DONE! Let’s find mommys!”

“Did you wash your claws?”

“…yes?” Her nervous smile said otherwise.

“Go wash them now Eclipse.”

“Okay….”

“Good girl, I’ll be waiting outside for you. See you later Cloudy, have fun.”

“Thank you sir and good day.”

“WAIT FOR ME!!”

The little cub ran between Cloudy’s legs as she chased her father, the sight was adorable. For every one step Anubis took, she had to make eight.

“Awwwwww~ she’s so adorable…. And definitely a daddy’s girl too.”

Once the duo left, Cloudy began to tidy up the room.

“Hey!!! Slow down!”

“Come here, get on.”

“No! You peed on yourself.”

The guards near by giggled but quickly put back on their stoic masks when Anubis glared at them.

“For the last time I didn’t wee on myself.”

“Huff* your lies don’t fool me daddy, wait until mommy and step mommy hear about it.”

“Sigh* okay then, you’ll just have to keep up with me. Come on.”

“Ahh! No wait! Slow down!”

“Never. Just try and keep up.”

Eclipse took that personally and jumped onto her dad’s tail, now she was being dragged along effortlessly. To her surprise, her daddy’s tail feathers were super soft and long.

She looked back at her own tail and compered her tail feathers to her fathers, the tiny cub instantly noticed that her dad’s feathers were far more prominent and colourful whilst her own were a dull solid blue.

Then it hit her, her memory of biology class from school. They were griffons and she was a female whilst her dad was a male, remembering that male birds in nature typically had bright and vibrant colours to impress females.

This meant that the chances of her growing beautiful vibrant feathers was not likely, this made Eclipse quite sad.

Walking down the hallway until he got to his mates room, at this point Silver had completely moved in. Anubis turned to his daughter to fine that she wasn’t herself, so he picked her up and cradled her in his forelegs.

“What’s wrong you little menace?”

“N-nothing….”

“Really?”

He raised one eyebrow and began to tickle her, illicit a flurry of giggles from Eclipse.

“Heheheh…. Huff* it’s not fair.”

“What isn’t?”

“I’m not going to have pretty feathers like you!”

“Why not?”

“Well because I’m a girl….”

“Mhmmmm oh I see but that shouldn’t stop you from being a beautiful Lady when you grow up.”

“Y-you promise?”

“I mean look at your mother.”

“Yep! she is pretty but she doesn’t have your feathers.”

“But you might.”

“I might?”

“Yep so turn that frown upside down and remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”

“What does that mean?”

“You’ll understand one day sweetheart, now let’s attack your mothers.”

“Yeah!!!!”

Anubis covered her beak.

“Ssshhhh. Don’t give away our position, this is a surprise attack.”

“Okay…. Why don’t we sleep in the same room as mommy and step mommy?”

“Because….” He scratched the back of his ear and thought about it for a moment. “Because they are too cuddly and might squish you in their sleep.”

“Oh that makes sense, don’t want to be squished. Now let’s scare them.”

The two guards tried to not get distracted by the cuteness but Glacier had already crumbled at the father daughter duo, Iron Cross only had a slightly warmer look to his face:

But before Anubis executed his sneak attack, he stop to speak with Glacier.

“Come to my room later today around noon, I have some good news for you.”

“Wha? Um okay?”

“Good…. Now Eclipse are you ready?”

She gave a little salute and Anubis slid the doors open, allowing them to sneak into the large room.

They made their way to the bedside but just as they were about to attack.

Fwomp*

A pillow hit Anubis in the beak followed by Silverfeather tackling him to the ground.

“Aghhhh! Run Eclipse! It’s an ambush, retreat!!”

“Ahhhh!!!!”

Celestia jumped from behind the bed and began chasing Eclipse with a pillow, she was purposefully missing whilst the little cub ran around in circles.

“Noooo!!!! Please don’t pillow me!!!”

“Come here you, I’m going to smother you with love! Muhahahahahah!!”

“Save me daddy!! Daddy?”

When Eclipse looked at her dad, she was horrified to find that he was being smooched by her mom. That meant she had no hope of escaping from her other mother, Celestia chose this time to capture the distracted cub.

“Raaaaahhhh!!”

“Aahhhhhhhh!”

“I have the child!”

“Noooooo get off me!!”

“Nom* nom* nom*”

“Hehahahahahhhh! No p-haha please help daaahahahahahaddy!”

“Sorry but smooch* gasp* I need help Eclipse, your mum is trying to suffocate me.”

“Nooooo! Daddy we’re losing!”

Eclipse tried her hardest to brake free from Celestia’s grip but her attempts were unsuccessful.

Anubis on the other claw, was already pinned down. He could easily pick Silver up but he quite enjoyed having her kissing him relentlessly.

“Mhmmmm~ I think we should help your mother Eclipse, there’s too much of Anubis for just her to kiss.”

“Yeah!!!! Um actually no….”

“Why?”

“Daddy peed on himself earlier.”

Silverfeather’s eyes widened and she jumped off him whilst Celestia gave him a questioning look.

“Nubie that’s gross!! Cough* cough* honey how?”

“It wasn’t wee! It was water, I bloody swear!”

“Gasp* he’s lying.”

“Anubis?”

“Don’t give me that Celestia! I did not piss on myself, do I make myself clear.”

“You’re a terrible liar dear but if it makes you feel better, I still love you even if your covered in wee.”

“Thanks Silver…. But that’s just gross.”

“Wha!?! No don’t turn this around on me, you’re the one who peed themselves!”

“Ppfffahahahahahahah!!! Oh my…. Mommy likes wee!”

“Heheheheh now now Eclipse, let’s not speak of such things, it’s inappropriate and gross.”

“I agree, enough of that stuff. Let’s get breakfast and afterwards Eclipse, you'll spend the day with mummy Celestia.”

“Why?”

“Because today is the first official day of work for me, the first day of Unit 8.”

“But later today Eclipse has a doctor’s appointment with Tender Care?”

“Yes and I have given him that time to attend the appointment my love, so relax.”

Celestia shook her head in disbelief.

“Sigh* I’m not even surprised you already knew about that and planned around it…. Well let’s get some breakfast.”

Celestia picked up the adorable cub by the scruff of her neck and went for the doors, Anubis followed but Silver just reached out to them.

“Huff* Nubie can you carry me, I’m not ready to use my legs yet.”

“Lazy nimrod.” And he walked off with a smirk. “So Swan neck, any increase in the Dream spirits appearances?”

“Yes unfortunately but now that the guard is better equipped to deal with them, they aren’t getting out of hoof any time soon…. Thank you for the support by the way.”

“Don’t mention it but that’s still concerning to hear.”

“Um about that, my mum and dad have been sending me letters expressing their concerns about the dream spirits but I’ve told them that everything is under control.”

“Have you told them that we have a cub?”

“Or that you are engaged?”

“No and no…. But I’m planning on visiting them soon and I need you to come with me honey.”

“So what’s your plan?”

“Still in the planning phase but I’ve got it under wraps, don’t worry.”

“I’m worried already.”

“Well good luck Anubis, Silver please don’t give your dad a heart attack…. He’s far more tolerable than your late grandpa.”

“I won’t but we still need to decide on who’s getting Anubis for the upcoming gala.”

“I get daddy!! Dibs!”

Both Celestia and Silver eyes widened and said “what?!?”

“Heheheheheh mine!!”

“Well you two heard her, I’ve been taken ladies.”

“That’s not how that works.”

“Yeah Anubis, Silver’s right.”

“Sorry but Eclipse gets first dance.”

“Yay!”

“Dibs on second dance!”

“Gasp* Celestia you traitor! I don’t believe it, fine I have my own dad. Huff*”

They all look at Silver and bust out laughing, Silver began to laugh with them. She then climbed onto Anubis’s back and got comfortable on her perch.
