The Baby Twily and Mommy Celestia Chronicles
Moonie (Moondancer)
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAuthor's Note
Moondancer won the tiebreaker this time, so she gets to be the character of focus here. Inspiration was partially drawn from her prompt in "Potty Training Tales", which can be viewed here. I also drew a little bit from Something to Rave About 2: Second Night, itself an unofficial sequel to Something to Rave About. There is also a faint refernece to Photoshoot by Nido_King.
Tiber Septim II proposed having Twilight and Moondancer do a clown act to make Celestia laugh, and Scootabom1 proposed having Celestia use a spell to make them go on a storybook adventure (after previously suggesting it be a bedtime story adventure). So I decided to combine them both into a sort of storybook circus, like the expansion of Walt Disney World's Fantasy Land.

"Oh my goodness, Twily!" Princess Celestia exclaimed in only slightly exaggerated fashion, fanning a hoof across her nose to try and ward off the powerful stench that was wafting through the air. This wasn't the first time she'd changed the dirty diaper of her fellow alicorn and princess, but it seemed like this one was especially stinky for some reason. "What did you eat that made you so stinky today?!"
Twilight failed to hide the raging blush on her cheeks as she lay upon the changing table fully exposed, her dirty diaper opened to reveal the extent of her shame. "Sorry, Mommy," She appeared to sincerely apologize. "I didn't think it would be that bad, really. But I didn't feel like using the potty," She whimpered and shrank from the sun princess' gaze. "Please don't be mad at me. I promise I'll try harder to make it to the potty in time the next time I have to go poo poo."
But Celestia simply shook her head and gently reassured Twilight. "I'm not mad at you, Twily. I want you to do whatever makes you comfortable. I shouldn't be trying to put pressure on you to use the potty if you'd rather stick to your diapers. I really don't mind any of this." She proceeded to toss the dirty diaper into a diaper pail, and set to work on wiping the young alicorn's stinky flanks. As she did so, she couldn't help but think. "Twilight's been doing number ones and number twos in her diaper far more often as of late compared to when we started doing this. Luna hasn't voiced any further concerns yet, but is it possible this is starting to negatively affect Twilight in some way? Making her regress and act like more of a foal?"
Unsure of herself, the sun princess just continued the wiping job, all the while continuing to think. "Oh, what am I so worried about? Twilight's using her diapers more often because she feels more comfortable doing so around me. Besides, I've helped her open up to so many of her friends, and they've all accepted this side of her. Even her parents don't seem to mind it. So I'll keep doing it as long as she still wants me to do it. She knows she can stop at any time." Just to be sure, she immediately saw fit to ask her fellow alicorn. "Twilight?"
The recently wiped clean young princess looked up at her fellow alicorn, surprised to be called by her real name instead of her more foalish name. "Yes, Mommy?" She asked in uncertainty, her voice sounding just a touch more... mature for lack of a better word.
The elder alicorn paused in hesitation for a moment, apparently deep in contemplation. Then at last she said. "You do know that we can stop this at any time if you feel uncomfortable, right?"
At that, Twilight let out a playful, foalish giggle and wiggled about on the changing table. "Of course I know that. Why would I want to stop? You're the best mommy ever! I mean it! Only you could care for me no matter how stinky I get or how many messes I make."
That seemed to satisfy Celestia, who breathed a sigh of relief. "Well, as long as you think that way, Twily, I won't force you to stop. But if you ever change your mind, let me know. And remember," She added with a knowing wink. "You can't tell anypony not already in the know. The tabloids would have a field day if they found out you're still in diapers at your age."
"I can't help it if I like my diapees, Mommy!" Twilight giggled some more. "Now come on, put another one on me!" And she lay back down on the changing table in anticipation.
Princess Celestia quickly unfolded a new diaper, taped it to Twilight's rump, and sprinkled in a generous helping of foal powder to ensure there wouldn't be a rash. Then she helped her fellow alicorn down from the table. "There we go, Twily. All nice and clean again."
"Thank you, Mommy!" The diapered princess gave Celestia a big hug, then waddled over to where she had left Smarty Pants lying on the floor. She picked up the old doll and said to it. "Sorry that took so long, Smarty Pants. But now I'm back, we can play again."
"Playtime with you is always a blast, Twily." Smarty Pants said in reply.
Yet it was then that Princess Celestia clapped her hooves, drawing Twilight's attention. "Now Twily, you should wait. There's a certain somepony who I'm sure would love to play with you and Smarty Pants."
Twilight became all excited, her eyes going wide! "Really?! Who is it this time, Mommy?! Do I know them?!"
The sun princess nodded as a big smile crept across her face. "Oh, I'm sure you do. The two of you go way back, back to when you were just little ponies. Maybe even before then. Heck, you two are so alike you could probably pass for twin sisters if I didn't know better."
Almost immediately, a picture of the pony Celestia was talking about formed in the padded alicorn's mind. She let out an excited gasp, bouncing up and down in anticipation! "You mean it's...!"
Before Twilight could finish her sentence, the door to her bedroom turned. In trotted a familiar looking cream coated unicorn mare with glasses. She had shed the black sweater she usually wore, and had taken the liberty of styling her mane and tail to look exactly like Twilight's. Around her flanks was wrapped a thick, white, very poofy diaper that pushed her legs apart. Yet she trotted about in it no problem despite the waddle it gave her movements.
The unicorn waddled right up to Twilight and giggled, swishing her tail and showing off her padded posture with pride. "Hi, Twilight... I mean, Twily," She corrected herself, pushing her glasses into place. "Sorry, still getting used to that."
Twilight felt her wings poof outward in excitement! She immediately pulled the unicorn in for a big hug! "Moondancer! Oh, I can't believe it's you!"
Princess Celestia watched the scene unfold with a smile of her own.
When the hug ended, Moondancer blushed. "I'm actually kind of surprised that you of all ponies are into this: Wearing diapers and acting like a big foal. I thought I was the only one among our friends who wanted to go back to diapers: Wearing and using."
"Why would you think I wouldn't be into this?" Twilight questioned her new playmate. "With how close we were when we were younger, why would you think you'd be the only one wanting to go back to diapers full time? Or at least, as close to full time as possible?"
Moondancer appeared to frown, her eyes narrowing a bit and her tone of voice taking on one of resentment. "Don't tell me you've forgotten. We were the first among our peers to be potty trained, only Lyra ever got a leg up on us because she was already using the toilet when we were stuck with training potties. And on your third birthday, you demonstrated quite clearly that your decision to hold off on starting the training until then was wise. You didn't have a single accident after you started, whereas I had several."
At that, the padded alicorn seemed to remember and recall memories long since passed! "Oh!" She exclaimed in realization. "I remember now," She then giggled a bit. "And at your next birthday party, your parents made you sit on the big potty for hours with everypony watching. I know some of our friends who didn't know better were wondering if you were gonna go down the drain."
"Is it bad if I wished I could've, just to be able to get away from everypony?" Moondancer lamented. "It was so embarrassing to sit there in front of everypony. I was never good at using the potty in front of others. Demonstrating it was always harder than when I just did it. You didn't seem to have that problem, and neither did Lyra. Even Minuette, once she finally started potty training, could do it no problem. I was always the shy one who couldn't do number one or number two for anypony other than my parents or my big sister."
Twilight blushed, levitating over Smarty Pants. "Well, I could only really do it because Smarty Pants helped me. She'd always sing to me whenever I was on the potty, even the big potty. If it wasn't for her, I couldn't have tinkled a drop, let alone do anything else. Isn't that right, Smarty Pants?"
Much to Moondancer's shock and surprise, the doll spoke. Of course, she knew it was really Twilight speaking through the doll, but it still surprised her all the same. "It's true. Twily just needed a distraction, because otherwise she'd start thinking about why she hadn't gone, and that made it harder for her to go pee pee or poo poo. I'm guessing you never had anypony do that for you."
The glasses wearing unicorn's frown only slightly lessened as she replied. "No, never. I never would've believed Twilight of all ponies would need that kind of help. My parents seemed to think that if my big sister could be fully trained and out of diapers by the time she was four, there was no reason why the same couldn't be true for me. And if my big sister hadn't been so willing to teach me how she did it, I probably wouldn't have graduated from diapers until I was in magic kindergarten."
"Well, at least we still had our little secret club between ourselves and Lyra," Twilight giggled. "Even if it wasn't much of a secret. We only got to maintain it for about a year before all our friends started potty training too. I know we were all shocked when Minuette finally got out of diapers. She was still wearing them when she was in magic kindergarten, not that it seemed to bother her."
Moondancer sighed anew. "Yeah, and I wouldn't be surprised if I found out she wanted to go back to diapers. As far as I know, she hasn't. But maybe she's like you and she's really good about keeping it a secret," She looked back to her own well taped diaper. "I thought once I finally worked up the courage to try wearing diapers again, that all my fears and worries would just disappear. They didn't. I even went to this special club just for ponies like me who like to wear diapers. But all I did was draw more unwanted attention to myself," She shuddered. "If the club DJ hadn't intervened when she did, I probably would've died. At least she was understanding, she was just as insecure about diapers as I was. But I haven't mustered up the courage to go back there yet."
Twilight trotted over and nuzzled Moondancer in the side. "Well, your secret's safe with me, Moondancer."
"Just call me Moonie instead," Moondancer insisted in a somewhat upset tone of voice. "After all, you call yourself Twily and call Princess Celestia your mommy," She turned to the sun princess. "Do I have to call you Mommy too?"
"Only if you want to, Moonie," Princess Celestia replied in a motherly tone. "Just like with Twily, I want you to do whatever makes you feel comfortable and cared for. The only rule I enforce is that you can't change your own diapers. After all, foals don't know how to do it. That's why they have mommies and daddies to do it for them. Don't worry, I'm used to changing diapers. Anything you do in them won't surprise me," She playfully added. "I just hope you're not as big a stinker as Twily is."
"Mommy!" Twilight playfully whined.
Smarty Pants just added. "It's true though, Twily. You can be really stinky sometimes."
"Smarty Pants! I thought you were on my side!" Twilight remarked as her blush returned with a vengance.
Moondancer, however, sympathetically replied to her fellow padded pony. "Hey, you can't help it if you're stinky. It's what foals do," She was quick to add. "I've never had somepony change my diaper, so I'm curious to see what it will feel like if it has to happen."
"Oh, it's the best feeling ever, Moonie!" Twilight happily exclaimed! "I'm sure you'll get to love it as much as I do if you get the chance to experience it!"
The glasses wearing unicorn simply sat down on her padded plot, making it crinkle. "Guess we'll just wait and see what happens. After all, I bought the thickest, most absorbent diaper brand I could find. It seems a shame not to test it out."
Twilight quickly moved to sit down next to Moondancer, showing support and solidarity for her fellow padded pony. The two big foals sat there for a bit, blinking their eyes whilst saying nothing to one another.
Of course, the spell of silence didn't last long. And Moondancer was soon asking. "So, what should we do, Twily? I assume you know more than I do what kind of fun big foals like us can have."
As if in response to the glasses wearing unicorn's question, both padded ponies heard their stomachs emit audible gurgles.
Celestia smiled and cooed. "Well, it sounds to me like we should have meal time first," Ushering her diapered charges to either side of her, she gestured. "Come, my little ponies. Let's go down to the royal dining room and get you fed." Then, she lit up her horn and teleported herself and her foals away.
The three reappeared in the empty dining room a moment later, Twilight and Moondancer both gasping as their mouths left gaping in awe at what they saw! Two large, elegantly detailed highchairs had been placed side by side at one of the long table, and both had their bars currently unlatched. It was quite obvious who they were meant for.
"Mommy, how were you able to get highchairs to fit us?" Twilight questioned as she and Moondancer were led before the highchairs and then floated into them via the sun princess' magic.
Princess Celestia happily explained whilst levitating both padded ponies into place. "Let's just say that when Luna went shopping after we learned Cadence was pregnant, she didn't quite know what size an alicorn foal would be. Cadence was too embarrassed to return all the supplies after she had Flurry Heart, so she asked me to hang onto them."
The younger alicorn giggled, kicking about in her pampers as the bar of her highchair was latched shut after she was placed into the seat. "Knowing Cadence, she probably diapered my brother and used Luna's supplies for parenting classes while she was pregnant! B.B.B.F.F. always did tend to act like a big foal, which I guess isn't surprising given what I now know about his foalhood."
The glasses wearing unicorn sitting in the other highchair could only lament. "I wish my big sister was as fun and loving as your brother was, Twilight. Aside from demonstrating how big ponies go potty during my training, or helping me with my homework sometimes when I was a little older, she and I mostly kept to ourselves. And I can't imagine she'd be very proud of me if she saw me like this."
Twilight leaned over in her highchair to talk to her fellow padded pony. "Hey, who cares if your first foalhood wasn't so great? That's all the more reason why you should enjoy your second one and be free. Do whatever you feel like doing, not what other ponies tell you you have to do. If I could learn how to live without books, you can totally learn to do the same. After all, there aren't really books on being a big foal."
Moondancer adjusted her glasses and briefly fiddled with her mane a bit. "Yeah, I know. Aside from a psychology book that briefly touched on them, there wasn't a lot of subject material. All the other books I could find on foals had to do with foalcare and raising foals."
Celestia then approached the two diaper wearing mares as they sat in their highchairs, levitating several jars of different flavored foal food, complete with bright red colored plastic spoons. "It is time for num-nums, little ones," She turned to Moondancer. "I hope you aren't a picky or fussy eater, Moonie. These foods are some of Twily's favorites. So if she likes them, you should like them too."
"Couldn't I have something yummier?" The glasses wearing unicorn questioned. From the way she spoke, it was hard to tell whether it was an act or if she was being sincere.
The sun princess replied with a knowing wink. "Well, if you and Twily both behave, I believe there's some ice cream in the kitchen. But you need your nutrition first. After all, Moonie, I assume you want to grow up big and strong, just like Twily." And to prove her point, she fed her fellow alicorn first.
Moondancer watched in silence as jar after jar was unscrewed, and Twilight happily devoured the various colored goops as the plastic spoon was dipped into them. It was all done with practiced precision, which wasn't surprising given how close the two princesses seemed to be. They had settled quite comfortably into their assigned roles. Whereas Moondancer was still uncertain of just how far she wanted to go. She wanted to let go, to be as carefree as Twilight. But a small part of her brain kept nagging at her, telling her that this sort of behavior was wrong.
At last, Princess Celestia had finished spoon feeding Twilight. She proceeded to pat the younger alicorn's back a few times, causing Twilight to playfully let out a loud belch. The elder alicorn wasn't bothered in the slightest, and simply cooed. "Good girl, Twily. Let it all out," She then turned her attention to the other padded pony in her presence. "Okay, Moonie. Now it's your turn," Dipping a different plastic spoon into one of the jars, she soon brought it to the unicorn's mouth as she instructed. "Come on. Open up. Be a good little pony."
The padded unicorn reluctantly obeyed, opening her mouth as wide as she could. She swallowed hard when the spoon's contents were deposited onto her tongue. That's when the taste hit her! It was almost overwhelming! "Whoa!" She exclaimed as she leaned back in her highchair. "I can't remember the last time I tasted something so sweet!"
Celestia smiled. "Well well, seems like you're a pretty good foal when it comes to spoon feeding, Moonie." And she proceeded to repeat the process several times over.
By the time the spoon feeding was done, Moondancer was beginning to feel nice and full. She didn't even mind the fact that she'd gotten trace amounts of different flavors of foal food all over her face. She just licked her lips, cleaning her face as best she could. It seemed she was slowly but surely settling into the mentality of an adult foal, just a little.
The alicorn mare with a majestic white coat stood up soon afterward, declaring. "A deal's a deal, my little ponies. Stay right here while I go get the ice cream." She returned shortly with the aforementioned sweet treat.
The glasses wearing unicorn excitedly rocked back and forth on her pampers when she saw the flavor of ice cream! "It's my favorite flavor: Cookies 'n cream!"
"No way! That's my favorite flavor too!" Twilight declared. Whether she meant it or was just playing along was hard to tell.
Princess Celestia flashed a motherly smile. "Well, I guess it's a good thing there's still half a carton of it left. That should be plenty between you two both." She proceeded to deposit a large scoop of the ice cream into large bowls, which she then presented to both diapered mares still sitting in their highchairs.
Twilight and Moondancer polished off the ice cream in no time at all. And neither of them protested when their faces were wiped clean with a rag afterwards.
"My my, what messy foals I have today." Celestia cooed as she wiped off the stained cheeks of both her charges.
Twilight just giggled, as did Moondancer. They didn't seem to care in the least.
Once Princess Celestia was satisfied that she'd gotten all the stains removed, she levitated the wet rag away and unlatched the bars on both highchairs, watching as the two big foals tumbled out and onto their padded rears. They seemed to be having fun together. It really was like they were sisters it seemed.
The padded ponies and the princess returned soon afterward to the royal bedroom Twilight was staying in, Twilight immediately trotting over to Smarty Pants to pick her up, whilst taking notice of the fact that the doll's arms were folded over. "Sorry, Smarty Pants," She apologized. "I didn't think you'd like watching Moonie and I eat since you can't do the same."
"Oh, Twily, I'm not mad," Smarty Pants insisted. "Even so, I don't like it when you leave me alone for so long. You know we do everything together, even sleep together."
"Yeah, I know," Twilight nodded back to the doll. "And I promise, from now on I won't leave your side. You can join in the fun with Moonie and I."
Smarty Pants seemed to smile. "I'd like that very much, Twily. I know we're gonna have lots of fun together, just like we always do with your playmates!"
Moondancer then asked her fellow padded pony. "So, now that we've been fed, what should we do next? Any ideas, Twily?"
The padded alicorn started to think, when she was suddenly distracted by the sound of loud music. Curious to see where it was coming from, she waddled over to a nearby window to have a look, and Moondancer followed after her.
Looking off into the distance, the two big foals could see what looked like a rather large circus tent that had been set up within the very heart of Canterlot. Various vendors were selling things like carrot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, cotton candy, and other treats. Performers of all types trotted to and fro, getting everything ready for the show to take place under the big top. And the source of the loud music revealed itself in the form of a large pipe organ.
Twilight turned away from the window and excitedly jumped up and down as she asked Princess Celestia! "Can we go to the circus, Mommy? Please?" She adopted the best pleading face she could muster up.
"Yeah? Can we go? It sounds like fun." Moondancer commented as she joined Twilight in pleading.
Princess Celestia wasn't persuaded for a second. "And let everypony in Canterlot see you two in diapers? I think not," She sought to reassure the two. "There'll be plenty of opportunities to see the circus some other time. I'm sure it will be back in Canterlot before long. Or perhaps we can wait until it comes to Ponyville and visit it then. The ponies of Ponyville are far less judging than the ponies of Canterlot, especially since a good number of them already know about Twily's secret." She delivered the last line with a knowing wink.
Moondancer then proposed while looking to her padded plot. "What if we agreed to use the potty before and after we went to the circus? Then we wouldn't have to wear diapers, and nopony would know about our secret."
"Circus shows are rather long," Celestia pointed out. "And it looks like the show is about to begin. I'm not sure I could secure tickets for the three of us on short notice. As tempted as I am by your offer, Moonie, I'm not sure I can trust you and Twily to behave yourselves, especially since you'd both have to use the potty right now while I go get the tickets."
"Why can't we just use the potty at the circus?" Twilight questioned. "They have potties there, right, Mommy? We could go right before the show starts, or during a break."
The sun princess protested. "Absolutely not! The circus' bathrooms are filthy! I will not have you both getting sick on my watch!" She then apologized. "I'm sorry, my little ponies, but we will not be going to the circus today. Maybe if you two behave for the rest of the day, we can visit it tomorrow before they leave Canterlot."
Both padded ponies let out whines and sighs of disappointment. It seemed they had both been looking forward to the idea of going to the circus (even considering Twilight had been to a carnival and an arcade).
Smarty Pants then made the suggestion. "Hey, if we can't go to the circus, why don't we bring the circus here? We can make our own circus together!"
"With just the three of us?" Moondancer pondered.
"Why not? All we need is our imaginations," Smarty Pants encouraged. "Anything's possible when you use your imagination. And Twily certainly has an active imagination. Just ask her."
Twilight giggled, poking at her pampers. "It's true. I even thought the potty was a monster, until B.B.F.F.F. helped me realize it wasn't. With an imagination like that, we could easily make our own circus."
However, Princess Celestia spoke up. "Actually, who says the circus has to be pretend? What if there was a way for you to not only go to the circus, but be part of the circus?"
"What do you mean, Mommy?" The padded alicorn pondered.
But the glasses wearing unicorn seemed to know what the sun princess was suggesting. "You're thinking of Hayscartes' method, aren't you? I've been studying that, but I've never even come close to pulling it off."
Celestia gave a firm nod. "Well, perhaps it would be best if I attempted the spell then. As it just so happens, I have a storybook about the circus that's just right for foals of all ages. And if you run into any trouble or danger, I can poof us all back out of the book no problem."
Twilight's face began to light up like stars in the night sky! "That would be great, Mommy! Let's do it!"
The elder alicorn grinned, trotting away. "Alright then, it's settled. We'll go into the storybook circus together, and my foals will be part of the show. We'll get to go on an adventure from the safety of this room."
It wasn't long before Princess Celestia returned, holding aloft a rather large and brightly colored picture book with her magic. She placed it on the ground, letting her charges see the title that read: Let's Go to the Circus in large and foalish letters.
"Now, before we begin," The sun princess declared as she eyed the two padded ponies. "Does anypony need to go potty or have their diaper changed? Once we enter into the book, there'll be no opportunities for potty breaks or diaper changes until we come out of it."
Twilight swished her tail and innocently replied. "I'm good, Mommy. I don't have to go."
Moondancer chimed in. "I guess if Twily doesn't have to go, then I don't either." In the back of her mind, she was thinking. "I'm sure I can hold it until we get done with the story. Besides, Twilight apparently goes potty in her diapers all the time. If she can do it and not be bothered, then I can do it too if I have to."
Satisfied with the response, Celestia took the liberty of lighting up her horn. The magic quickly flowed out from her horn, enveloping herself, Twilight, Moondancer, and Smarty Pants. Then it turned to the book, shrinking down the ponies and doll as they were pulled into the book's large pages.
Following a bright flash, all found themselves within the pages of the storybook. Its surroundings slowly but surely came to life: A large circus tent that could fit hundreds of ponies appeared, filled up with cardboard cutouts and paper ponies that sat on benches on all sides facing three large rings.
Princess Celestia herself happened to be sitting in the audience, looking on as Twilight and Moondancer stood within the three rings. Even though the show had yet to begin, she clapped and cheered to show her approval of anything they would do.
"We are here at the circus," A high pitched, childish voice spoke up as the circus took shape. "It is inside of a very large tent that is called a big top. Ponies of all ages come from far and wide to see the show today."
Suddenly, Smarty Pants emerged in one of the rings with a large mane around its neck. The doll let out a ferocious roar! And just as suddenly, Twilight and Moondancer found themselves facing the roaring doll with whips. The voice from before declared. "There are all kinds of acts to see. The lion tamers and other animal trainers command all kinds of large animals to perform tricks for the crowd."
Twilight took the lead in doing what the narration had said. Cracking the whip, she uttered the command. "Smarty Pants, jump!" And the doll obeyed without question.
Moondancer quickly did the same, bringing up a large hoop as she shouted! "Smarty Pants, I command you to jump through this ring!" Sure enough, that's what Smarty Pants did.
Princess Celestia watched the performance with brief looks of concern, concern that melted away when she saw Twilight and Moondancer handle the doll turned lion with ease. Yet her worries returned when the doll disappeared and a new display appeared in a ring, Twilight and Moondancer popping up inside of said ring.
In this ring was a large tightrope that rose up towards the ceiling of the big top. There was a net beneath it for safety, but the net seemed a ways down. The tightrope, meanwhile, stretched across the entire length of the ring it was in, Twilight and Moondancer standing on opposite ends.
The voice continued. "Tightrope walkers and acrobats walk across a large rope, performing all sorts of incredible tricks. They are protected from harm by a large net that will catch them if they should happen to fall." And as soon as it finished, the two padded ponies were doing things like riding a unicycle across the tightrope, or holding a large pole for balance as they walked back and forth on the tightrope. The rope occasionally swayed, but did not break.
From there, the attention switched to the third and final ring as Twilight and Moondancer were brought safely back down to the ground. Suddenly, their bodies changed. Their faces were covered with a white powder that looked almost like a mask, and were heavy with make-up and eyeshadow. They wore bright yellow jackets and gleaming red suspenders that were comically oversized. Most noticeable of all, their noses became big and red, almost like bouncing balls.
Princess Celestia couldn't stop herself from laughing hysterically as she watched the two padded ponies run around the ring, performing all sorts of funny acts both separate and together. And it seemed she wasn't the only one who found the performance of the padded ponies to be absolutely ridiculous (in a good way, mind you). The many cardboard cutouts and paper ponies could be heard laughing too. Their joyous cries echoed throughout the whole big top.
Despite this, the voice from before could be heard clear as day as it said. "A very popular act in the circus is the clowns. They dress up in funny clothes and funny costumes, and wear lots of make-up in order to make ponies laugh. Some clowns are sad clowns that have sad faces, while others are happy clowns that have smiling faces. And they often travel around in tiny little cars that are much too small for them. Yet they manage to fit into them with the greatest of ease."
Sure enough, a tiny sized bright yellow car with a windup key appeared before the two big foals, and from it emerged Smarty Pants all dressed up to look just like Twilight and Moondancer. The doll proceeded to chase after the two with a big, rubber bat, and the padded ponies pretended to be scared, running this way and that.
Page after page went by, with Twilight, Moondancer, and Smarty Pants all changing as needed to fit the roles described by the book. The final act saw Twilight bravely climb into the barrel of a large cannon with only a helmet for protection, before Moondancer brandished a matchstick and used it to light a fuse. The flame traveled along the length of the fuse until it reached the cannon, which shot Twilight out with a loud "Boom!" She flew across the big top as the audience watched, many emitting gasps (Princess Celestia included)!
Fortunately, the padded alicorn landed safely within a large net at the other end of the big top. The audience burst into thunderous applause, with ponies clapping, cheering, and even whistling in approval.
From there, Twilight was magically brought back to the center ring with Moondancer and Smarty Pants, all of them now displaying costumes from their many different roles. And they all bowed as the audience tossed roses to them from their seats. The voice concluded by saying. "When the show is over, all the circus performers return to the center ring and bow to the audience. The audience may sometimes show their appreciation by tossing roses to the performers. The circus is a truly wonderful place to visit."
Just like that, the story was over. And with a poof, Twilight, Moondancer, Smarty Pants, and of course Princess Celestia all returned to normal as they exited the large picture book. The book then folded of its own free will, closing its pages until next time.
Princess Celestia had to quickly summon up a handkerchief to use in order to wipe the tears from her eyes. She had been laughing and crying with delight so hard. "Oh, I say, that was truly a magnificent performance! You were very brave little foals to do all those scary circus acts."
"Did we make you proud, Mommy?" Twilight hopefully asked.
The sun princess nodded back. "You most certainly did, Twily. You and Moonie were simply fantastic!"
Moondancer beamed with pride. "Well, Hayscartes' method did most of the work for us. We just had to play along with the story. As long as we did that, we were fine," She then excitedly exclaimed. "I can't wait to try that with other books!"
"Ooh! Ooh!" Twilight bounced up and down as she got an idea. "We should do a book on the big potty, then we can see what happens when you go down the drain! That way we can satisfy our curiosity without getting hurt."
"No, no," Celestia playfully protested. "I'm sure you two don't really want to find out. And there are safer ways to get the answers."
Smarty Pants shuddered. "I would never want to go down the hole! It sounds scary! If that happens, it sounds like you could never come back! You'd disappear forever!"
The elder alicorn then changed the subject. "Now, we've all had a very exciting experience. And I think it's time for all good little ponies to take their naps. But first," She lit up her horn, levitating both Twilight and Moondancer towards her as she exclaimed in overly dramatic fashion. "I have two very stinky fillies who are in desperate need of a change! You two really did a number on your diapers, didn't you?"
"Huh? What do you mean?" Moondancer questioned, only to feel her diaper squish as she sniffed the air. To her surprise, the stench that greeted her nostrils wasn't as unpleasant as she thought it would be.
Twilight just looked ashamed. "Oh, I did it again, didn't I? I even promised I'd try to make it to the potty."
Moondancer couldn't help teasing. "Well, that's what you get for trying to act like the big pony you aren't. Besides, who needs the potty when you're already wearing your bathroom?"
Celestia just giggled in playfulness as she levitated the two dirty diaper ponies to the changing table, opting to change both of their very wet and messy diapers at once. "Now girls, there's no need to make a competition out of it. Everypony has accidents from time to time, even big ponies. What matters most is being honest about them so you can get changed."
Moondancer thoroughly enjoyed the rest of her day spent under Princess Celestia's loving care. She found it so easy to slip more and more into her "little" mindset as time went by. By the end of the day, she no longer cared about whether she used her diaper or not. In fact, using it seemed to become almost second nature to her, as if her years of potty training didn't matter at all.
Of course, the day couldn't last forever. And Moondancer was a little disappointed when it had to end. Now she had to go back to being her boring grown-up self, the pony who had grown-up not according to her own wishes but to the wishes of her parents and her big sister.
Well, maybe that could change with another trip to The Fountain of Youth in Manehattan. But that would have to wait for at least another day.
However, when the glasses wearing unicorn woke up the next morning and changed out of her diaper (she was equal parts relieved and disappointed that it was clean), she was surprised to see a scroll sitting near her nightstand. Attached to it was a note. She picked up the scroll and unfurled the note. It read as follows:
Dear Moondancer,
Thank you so much for agreeing to be Twily's playmate and helping her come out of her shell more. I really do want her to feel comfortable in her role, and anything that helps her do that is always appreciated.
Of course, I'm sure I don't need to tell you that you mustn't tell anypony about Twilight's secret without consulting me first. Only certain other ponies know about this, for good reason.
As a reward for your efforts, I've attached something that should interest you. Twilight told me just how fascinated you are with Hayscartes' method, and how hard you've been working to learn how to cast it. I hope this scroll from the Starswirl the Bearded section of the Canterlot Archives helps you out. Starswirl learned a lot from studying Hayscartes, after all.
Sincerely,
Princess Celestia
Moondancer could barely keep her horn from betraying her as she started trembling with excitement! Unfolding the scroll, she saw that indeed it contained detailed notes on Hayscartes' method and how to perform it. This was just the sort of help she needed.
Now if she could just find time in her schedule to fit in, along with her planned girls' night with Minuette, Twinkleshine, and Lemon Hearts. Not to mention her hopeful return to The Fountain of Youth (assuming the DJ there hadn't quit).
As the glasses wearing unicorn began making her plans, she was unaware until too late that her bladder needed to be emptied. Oh well, no big deal. Her diaper soaked up her "accident" just fine, and she had plenty of diapers to spare. She just used her horn to grab all the necessary changing supplies. And to occupy herself while the change was being done, she decided to grab a special magazine she had just begun reading. It was one that specifically catered to big foals like her.
Little did Moondancer know she was going to be in for a shock upon seeing a very familiar (to her) pony on the magazine's cover.
