Nightmares

Moonlight shined through the Everfree's canopy, decorating the forest floor with its light. A bunny hopped into view to nibble on a small blade of grass that was popping out of the grass. Suddenly, it was pinned down by a huge clawed foot. The bunny squealed but was quickly silenced as the owner of the foot clamped its jaws down on the bunny's head. The jaws were revealed to have belonged to a Dilophosaurus.

The Dilophosaurus was a medium-sized theropod from the Early Jurassic Period. It could grow up to 6 feet tall and was 20 feet long. Dilophosaurus was clearly a carnivore and possibly hunted down other dinosaurs in packs. It is mostly known for its two large crests on the top of its head. Scientists believe that the crests were most likely used to identify other Dilophosauruses and to attract mates. Despite what many people believe, Dilophosaurus didn't actually have the ability to spit venom, nor did it have a neck frill. However, despite the absences of these skills, it didn't make the Dilophosaurus any less ferocious.

The Dilophosaurus quickly swallowed what remained of the bunny. However, hearing its stomach grumble, it continued to look for more prey. While it sniffed the air, it suddenly picked up a scent. Hungry for more food, the Dilophosaurus followed the scent trail until it reached the forest's edge. Scanning the clearing, it noticed an odd cave-like structure made of wood and other things. What was most notable was that it was home to dozens of small animals. The Dilophosaurus quickly sprinted towards the structure, ready to eat.

Fluttershy was sleeping quietly in her bed, covered by blanket. But she wasn't only one sleeping there. Right next to her was her loyal animal companion, Angel. He was a bit mischievous but was regardless, a loyal pet and friend to Fluttershy. Suddenly, a loud noise coming from the front yard woke the two up.

"Huh? What was that?!" Fluttershy exclaimed.
Angel just shrugged before pulling the blanket back over his head and going back to sleep. Suddenly, Fluttershy heard another noise, this one being of an animal screeching in pain. The pegasus quickly got out of the bed, flew down the stairs, and opened the door. As Fluttershy walked onto her front yard, she was disturbed at what she saw. Or really, what she didn't see.

It could've been that it was too dark outside but no matter where she looked, she couldn't find any of her animal friends.

Suddenly, she heard rustling noises coming from under her bridge where her ferrets usually slept. Fluttershy carefully crept over the bridge and looked down. What she saw turned her pale white.

What remained of one of her ferrets was strewn across the ground in gorey mess of fur and blood which was currently being swarmed by flies. Fluttershy covered her mouth as tears began to fall from her eyes.

"W-What could've done this to you?" Fluttershy whimpered, trying to hold back her tears. But while the poor mare was distracted, a figure was looming behind her.

As Fluttershy wiped away her tears, she noticed that her shadow was getting...bigger. As Fluttershy tilted her head in confusion, she suddenly heard weird growling coming from behind her.

"Harry? I-Is that you?" Fluttershy whimpered, thinking it was just bear friend. The pegasus slowly turned around and was greeted by the face of a Dilophosaurus, its mouth dripping with ferret blood.

The Dilophosaurus quickly snapped at Fluttershy but backed away just in time. This unfortunately caused her to fall of the bridge.

Fluttershy screamed as she found herself next to the remains of one of her ferrets. She quickly stood back up as the Dilophsaurus rushed towards her from under the bridge.

Thinking quickly, she tried to use her Stare on the dinosaur but it had no effect on it at all as it kept approaching. The Dilophosaurus quickly pinned the pegasus down with its foot and prepared to finish the job. Fluttershy screamed and threw some loose dirt into the dinosaur's face, temporarily blinding it. The Dilophosaurus roared in pain and accidentally loosened its hold on Fluttershy. The pegasus quickly flew out from under the Dilophosaurus' feet and quickly sprinted to her house.

"Sorry for doing that, Mr. Dinosaur!" Fluttershy apologetically yelled, before quickly slamming the door.

Fluttershy panted heavily as she leaned against the door.

tap, tap

Fluttershy shrieked at the sudden sound of tapping but calmed down once she realized it was only Angel, who was tapping his foot in frustration after being woken up from his beauty sleep.

"Angel, help me hold down the door!" Fluttershy exclaimed.

Angel simply tilted his eyebrow in a questioning look.

"There's a dinosaur outside!" Fluttershy exclaimed. Just as she said this, the Dilophosaurus slammed against the door, slightly cracking it.

Angel quickly ran to the door and tried to help Fluttershy keep it shut. The Dilophosaurus kept ramming the door, over and over, and the two were barely holding on.

Finally, the door stopped moving and all went quiet. Fluttershy sighed with relief as she slowly fell to the floor. But her relief didn't last as the Dilophosaurus burst through the door, knocking Fluttershy against the opposite side of the living room. Before the pegasus could get back up, the Dilophosaurus slapped her with its tail, knocking her out.

Something lightly tickled Fluttershy's nose. It was Angel who was desperately trying to wake his owner up.

"A-Angel?" Fluttershy muttered, half-awake. The pegasus slowly pulled herself up. She suddenly winced as she felt an immense shot of pain coming from her left leg. When she looked back to check on it, she realized that a substantial bite mark had been left in it. Despite that, she tried to stand up tall to look at her surroundings.

As she took another step, something snapped beneath her hoof. As she looked down to see what it was, she was horrified to find out she was standing on a pile of animal bones.

Fluttershy immediately fell back down and screamed, only for her scream to be muffled as Angel put his paw over his owner's mouth.

Seeing Fluttershy's confused look, Angel pointed over to a corner of the cave where their kidnapper was lurking. The Dilophosaurus was picking off the flesh from a deer carcass.

Angel made a 'shushing' gesture to Fluttershy before pointing to the entrance of the cave. Fluttershy nodded her head in agreement, understanding what Angel was trying to tell her. The two carefully crept towards the entrance of the cave, making sure not to make any noises. As they got closer, Fluttershy could hear the sound of rain hitting the ground outside.

Angel was the first to get out of the cave. Fluttershy was about to follow behind when-

CRACK!

Both Angel and Fluttershy immediately froze at the sudden sound. As Angel looked back, his pupils shrank in terror. Fluttershy was confused by this but quickly got her answer when she felt something breathing on the back of her neck.

Sweat slowly rolled down her face as Fluttershy slowly turned around. As she turned, more and more the Dilophosaurus was revealed.

The creature towered over her, its teeth still red with blood. For a brief second, both Fluttershy and her assailant made direct eye contact with each other. A large raindrop suddenly fell from the sky and landed right in the pegasus' eye, causing her to blink profusely in order to get the water out.

Once her vision was restored, the Dilophosaurus was nowhere to be seen. Both she and Angel quickly searched around, desperately looking for their kidnapper.

Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, Fluttershy saw the dinosaur rushing towards Angel from behind.

The pegasus quickly scooped her bunny up and took flight just as the Dilophosaurus snapped at her. The dinosaur quickly changed direction and chased after its fleeing prey.

Thoughts quickly rushed through Fluttershy's head. She had no idea where she was or where she was going. All that mattered was getting away from that thing. Fluttershy could feel Angel shivering and pulled him closer to her chest. The poor thing was probably traumatized from this whole ordeal.

"It's okay, Angel. Everything's gonna be fine. Everything will be fi-AAH!"

Fluttershy was suddenly cut off as the Dilophosaurus clamped its jaws down on one her wings. The dinosaur quickly slammed Fluttershy to the ground tossing her to the side.

When the pegasus quickly tried to get back up, she winced in pain when she realized her wing was broken.

Wait, where's Angel?

Fluttershy quickly scoured the ground looking for her furry companion but while she was distracted the Dilophosaurus shoved her aside and pinned her down.

The Dilophosaurus's clawed feet pushed down on the poor pegasus' fragile chest, causing her to scream in pain.

The dinosaur's saliva fell onto Fluttershy's face as its maw got closer and closer. All the pegasus could do was accept her fate. She shut her eyes and awaited her death.

But it never came.

When Fluttershy opened her eyes again, she saw Angel gripping onto the Dilophosaurus' head crests while pulling on its eyelids.

Angel finally let go of the creature's eyelids, causing the Dilophosaurus to shut its eyes in pain.

Fluttershy cheered her bunny on from a distance but quickly realized they were both approaching a deep slope in the ground.

"Angel, watch out!" Fluttershy yelled, reaching for her bunny friend.

But it was too late.

The Dilophosaurus lost its gripping and tumbled down the slope, taking Angel with it.

"ANGEL!!" Fluttershy yelled, quickly running after the bunny. She then heard several following crashes before one final one at the bottom of the slope.

Fluttershy quickly rushed towards the site.

Please be alright! Please be alright! Please be alright!

When Fluttershy finally reached the crash site, she gasped at the gorey sight before her.

The Dilophosaurus had fallen headfirst onto a hard rock, cracking its skull. Its body laid there, bloody and motionless.

Fluttershy quickly searched around the body, hoping Angel survived the fall. But as she continued to search, she began to lose hope.

"Angel...no." The pegasus whimpered after finding no trace of her rabbit friend. Fluttershy began to cry until she felt something poking at her leg.

When she opened her eyes again, it was Angel! He was a bit beat up from the fall but was still alive.

"Angel!" Fluttershy exclaimed in relief. She quickly picked up her animal friend and squeezed him tightly. Angel grimaced at the pain but smiled and hugged Fluttershy back.

"Come on, let's get out of here." Fluttershy said, gently placing Angel on her back.
