Rarity looked over a box of assorted gems, and Fluttershy went on with painting flowers and swirls on a few bird houses. Glancing over a few colors, the unicorn levitates a red gem and a blue gem.
“Which do you like?”

Fluttershy looked at one and the other, “I don’t know, which would look better?”

Rarity looked impatient, “Well, that’s why I’m asking you, darling.”

Angel Bunny watched from the table top, gluing the balsa squares together for more houses. After a few moments, there was a knock at the door. Angel looked expectantly at the ponies, but they were too distracted by decorations to notice. The rabbit sighed and dropped to the floor, grumbling as he went.

There was another set of aggressive knocks, up until Angel opened it only a crack. Only hooves at his eye level, he glanced annoyedly up at the face of the visitor. But only a dark shroud with green glowing eyes and fangs met the small creature. Now surprised, as realization struck, Angel slammed the door. He turned and squeaked loudly at the mares, jumping up and down to get their attention.

The solid wood gave to black mass, allowing King Sombra to step through it. Standing up quickly, jaws dropped and Fluttershy’s shriek, Rarity grasped the Pegasus in magic, pulling her aside.
“Get back Fluttershy!”

The dark king blocked the only way out, and he grinned as he watched. “That won’t be necessary, I’m actually here for the both of you.”

Black tentacles shot up from the plank floor, surrounding the ponies.

“This won’t take long.”

The sight of gems, paints, and birdhouses, provided the sense that these ponies were not skilled fighters. Unlike an athlete Pegasus with abnormal speed and a rugged farmer Earth Pony, surely a seamstress and animal sympathizer would be less likely to overpower a sorcerer like himself.

Rarity stood her ground, though shaking and visibly scared. She charged her horn, aiming it at the taller unicorn. An amused Sombra failed to see exactly where the magic was going, and was blinded by a curtain that snapped off the wall, finding it’s way over the king’s face.

Startled, he grunted and stumbled back, his magic projected around the room faded with the distraction. Fluttershy now had an opening to run out the door, holding it for the other element. But Rarity instead of running took the other curtain, and used it to tie together Sombra’s hooves. He fell to the floor, crashing into the table and birdhouses.

Then Rarity chose to run, looking back once to see if the intruder was still down. Laser cut through the fabric, and his head reared back to see the ponies out the door. Sombra charged his horn for another blast, but Angel chucked a birdhouse through the air, smashing it against the stallion’s head.

Rarity and Fluttershy ducked to avoid the off-course laser, and turned to run. Behind them, Sombra fell out the front door, curtains wrapped and shredded around his body, and swatting a hoof at the angered birds swarming his head.

Once freeing himself, the king leaped away each time he could, finally getting far enough from the animals and glitter to see what was happening around him. And looking off at the distance, the two ponies were now going into the town of Ponyville. Thoroughly humiliated and furious, his horn burst with magic, teleporting himself into the cluster of houses.
