Well, This Is Unexpected
Chapter XXIV
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI stretched out on Lightnings couch as I faintly listened to her talking to the pizza delivery boy. Indigo sat to my left, watching some random YouTube video on her phone with her legs crossed.
“Hawaiian pizza with sausage for Indy, Italian and black olives for Sunset, pepperoni and sausage for me,”Lightning announced as she kicked the door shut with her boots. “Got some pops too.”
“Bet,” Indigo tossed her phone onto the other couch. “Thanks. Thank the pizza gods for Domino’s.”
I agreed with that as I accepted my own box and Lightning sat between us.
“So them Red Wings,” Lightning smirked at the two of us as our eyes lit up. I’ve never seen anything like hockey till I came here. It’s easily the best sport humans have ever made. “Pretty damn good game.”
“Absolutely. The Bruins didn’t stand a chance,” Indigo grinned and I nodded along. “I wouldn’t mind being a professional player one day. That’d be cool.”
“I was the exact same,” Lightning chuckled and she glanced at me. “Do you know a Sandalwood at all, Sunny?”
I set back down my pizza slice and hummed to myself. The name did sound familiar. Probably someone from school, in all honesty.
“I think so. Did he have green hair?” I inquired and she nodded as I chewed on my lip anxiously. “Yeah, I know him. He’s an eco kid at CHS. Nice guy. Very outspoken about keeping the planet green I think is how he puts it?”
“We got a few like that at CPA,” Indigo snorted with a shrug. “Garden Grove and Ginger Owlseye. They’re weird. And then there’s Twilight Sparkle.”
I choked on my pizza and my eyes widened as Indigo slammed her fist onto my back.
“I’m sorry, who?” I coughed into my elbow. “Twilight Sparkle?”
“She’s this really shy girl who never leaves her little lab in school. She’s Cinch’s golden girl for the school and is apparently related to Dean Cadence? Heard the wedding was wild. Apparently some girl from Cadence’s middle school was always jealous of her and tried to dress up as her, hair color and all. Shining Armor allegedly saw right through it with Twilight. I don’t really know much about Twilight. You know her or something?”
I didn’t really know how to answer that. The truth is naturally unbelievable for anyone who wasn’t there. And these two don’t really deserve to have their lives fucked up because of my mistakes. Lord knows I’m good at fucking up my own.
“Somewhat. We’ve uh ran into each other a few times.”
Technically not a lie. I have ran into a Twilight. Just not that Twilight. Should be enough of the truth to not have Applejack up my ass about it.
“Huh. Small world,” Indigo shrugged and I watched her turn the TV on. “Twilight is okay, I guess. She mainly hangs out with by herself. But there’s this other geek who hangs out with her. And someone from the Astronomy club, the baking club and music club. Moondancer, Twinkleshine, Lemon Hearts and Minuette I think their names were?”
Wow, she was right. This is a small world. I knew those ponies from back in Equestria, but I never really was nice to them. In my defense, I was warranted in being rude to Minuette. I was going to talk to her in class and she teleported to sit next to Twinkleshine instead. Bastard. Now that I think about it, that really started everything. Me being a bitch and everything.
No. Bad Sunset. Don’t blame Minuette for your mistakes. Even though that small voice in the back of my head is urging me to. I will admit, it did kinda hurt. I don’t even want to imagine what I’d have done to the human Minuette if I knew her.
You’d have only done what she deserved, that same stupid demon me voice whispered in the back of my head.
Shut up. I didn’t ask for your damned opinion. Stupid voice.
“You okay?” Lightning asked and I jumped. “Normally you’re tearing your pizza apart. It’s getting cold.”
“Yeah sorry. Just thinking and arguing with myself,” I answered and glanced outside the living room window at a crown vic police car. “Why is a cop sitting outside? That crown vic was following us all day.”
The other two glanced outside curiously as the headlights turned on and the car started moving.
I rubbed my eyes and stared. I could have sworn there was no one driving, but now there was a tan person in the driver seat.
“Did you both see that?” I asked and they each nodded.
“It’s like a guy just appeared in the driver seat. Weird. The plate is PRWL911. I have a friend in the police department, I’ll ask around and see what’s up,” Lightning answered and sat back down. “Weird. I didn’t know they used Vics anymore.”
“Same. I only see the Taurus, Charger and Explorer. Probably just a lack of sleep. Cars don’t drive themselves, especially not police cars,” Indigo mused and tapped a finger against her thigh. “Oh well. Back to the movie. You really gotta sleep more, Sunny. Lack of sleep is unhealthy.”
“I know. Just uh lots of gaming and school work going on, you know?” I laughed nervously as they both gazed at me suspiciously. Good lord, the two had a scary good way of making you wanna tell them everything. I swear, Lightning had that facial expression ingrained into Indigo. No wonder it was hard for me to keep anything a secret from those two.
“Okay,” Indigo leaned back into a much more comfortable looking pose. “Felt that. School work for CPA is nuts. All to boost the schools reputation I guess. Swear it should be illegal to assign that much homework.”
Lightning smirked at me behind her glass and I rolled my eyes. I could relate. Exams were next month and I should be studying and doing work but it’s hard to focus.
“You care if I ride the couch tonight? Don’t feel like making you drive me home,” I commented and took a bite of my pizza. Eugh, she was right. It was getting cold.
“Of course. Mi casa su casa or whatever they say,” Lightning waved a hand lazily and I snickered.
I have no words for whatever that was.
