Equestria girls: before the reset

The announcement of the friendship games worked out better than principal Celestia imagened. Though she had gotten everyone a little too riled up for the upcoming games.

At crystal prep

“So any new readings girls?” someone asked

“Yes there have been a lot of sightings of the new energy” one of the girls said

“From our rival school in the friendship games that are coming up soon” the other finished

“Good, let's use our prototype over there to get some and study it.”

“Yes master summer” both girls say monotonous while one slightly flinches at saying his name.

“We will find out what this energy is and if we can harness it. Maroon, winter go ahead with it” he said while looking at them as they nod.

Crystal prep is normally very competitive and makes use of it by putting the students against each other constantly but it gets worse with the friendship games come around.

Summer found the two girls alone and extended a hand out for help. No one else extended their hands out to them and would have never met otherwise. Maroon was kept back while he went into the games and collected the energy to study but just in case they made two more if one wasn't enough. Which allowed them to more accurately gain information on the new energy they discovered.

Maroon signed up for the games so that the other two could do their thing. Which did help them out now more than ever.

At canterlot high

“So what are the friendship games about because this is the first i have heard of them” sunrise said actually interested in them

“Its multiple activities kind of like our own version of the olympics, at least that's what i know it as…” crimson said before continuing “i haven't actually tried to do them as canterlot high has a losing streak with our rival cristal high.” as they made their way over to the portal to hang out, sunrise was prepared to show her daughter their home but something happened as the portal had stopped working. Then they see a person with a strange device around their neck trying to get away from the scene of the crime only for them to run after the new person but a thought entered Sunrise’s head,

‘Wait if there is a copy of my friends over in Equestria maybe maroon has one here as we only know her pony self. Could she-’ before she thought the question she noticed that the one they were chasing was this world's version of maroon causing her to ask “Maroon?” that caused the person's head to look at her directly but it certainly was shocking. The rest of the group was shocked and Fluttershy could tell that this wasn't the maroon that they knew. Which actually shocked them enough to stop even the person they were chasing stopped to fully look at them.

“How do you know my name?” The girl said confused

“I just guessed” was the reply, though she was scared she strangely felt at ease with the one looking at her with a strange expression only to be found by two new people.

“What's taking so long, Maroon?” a male voice asked.

“Some people started following me before one said my name,” she said as two people walked around the corner. One was male and the other was female. The male wore the crystal prep uniform like the other two but he had a soft yellow skin color while his hair was a bit of a mess yet it was a purple color. The female’s hair and skin were a snow blue and a slight darker variation, her hair was in a ponytail. She looked scared of something along with maroon and the group got curious but then one recognised him.

“Summer?” the one said and all looked at her only to see it was sunset who said it.

“Wait, hold on, Sunset, is that you?” he asked, shocked.

“Yeah it's me, it's been a while since we last saw each other.” she said, confusing the rest.

Applejack waved her hands back and forth as crimson’s eyes widened “wait hold’ up let's wait till tomorrow for this as it's pretty late so how about we meet up at the park somewhere.” she said while pointing at the sky. The rest looked around before agreeing it was for the best.

The next day was the weekend, thankfully. The two groups met at the park in between the two schools that was considered neutral ground by the students. The two groups found each other there and made their way to a spot to not be disturbed. It was the first time in a while that some students from crystal prep were there and going to meet the ones who saved them twice. After a while the people from canterlot high looked at them causing the girls to get a little scared of the stares. When the two groups sat down summer asked “why were the others staring at us? Isn’t this neutral ground?”

“Yes it is but crystal prep is rare to be seen here anyway but we always kept it open for them in case they do.” Twilight explained which interested them in what other places they have done that for. “Anyway, how did you two meet?” she asked interested.

“Well it was back before I met you and trixie but we were the ones that were left behind at the orphanage. I was already there when he came in a year later. That’s how we ended up meeting.” Sunset started with a far look on her face. Her friends wondered about what was said as he nodded to them.

“Yeah though we didn’t stay there for long after that and ended up on the streets.” he sighed “the reason we couldn’t meet up was because-” “it was my fathers fault but since i never agreed with them on their views I left them as a runaway while taking summer to the hospital before leaving” Crimson interrupted causing the rest to look at him confused.

“Windigo wasn’t a part of me then but after getting out of that house I noticed that I was blacking out with no memory of what happened and I never noticed.” crimson said as they looked at him worried. “I guess that’s when windigo started coming out to play. I don’t know when the other stuff happened. I worked with Thomas sense then and he was always that odd. Anyway things worked out for me but I always wondered what happened to the boy I saved.” He looked at the rest ashamed but they understood.

Summer’s eyes widened, “Wait, that was you?” he asked Crimson, who nodded while looking at some of his peers playing different sports to prepare for the games. “Thanks man” he said with a smile while the two next to him relaxed more and more. They sat down on either side of summer when he asked “say sunset how did you end up here?”

“Oh it's thanks to twilight and trixie here” sunset said while looking at her found family. “A bit after you disappeared on me I ended up getting taken into the foster care system. It was harsh for the first few homes till I was taken in by cadence chrysalis and shining armor after a tragedy happened to them the month before…” she trailed off before looking at the two who were holding their arms as tears welled up in their eyes ``they lost some important people then. When I met them we had a rocky start… but we worked through it and here I am. I couldn’t be happier then I am now” sunset said before Rarity noticed what they were wearing.

“What are those pendants for?” she asked, bringing the attention to her.

“Oh these?” Maroon asked, showing hers with Rarity nodding after seeing it. “We made them ourselves.” Maroon said with a smile.

After a few weeks things were amping up as people were selected to play in the upcoming games. It happened to be the group that saved them from the dangerous magic that now are their friends. The dazzlings wanted to give a song to welcome the other school with the help of other musicians. It was accepted and they sent Princess Maroon a message on what happened on their end but got no answer only for the book to destroy itself in a burning fashion. Over the next few days things were worrying them but they had their own problems to deal with at the moment.

After a while and a few of the games along with the party welcoming them to the school. Things went awry fast as magic was revealed to the rest and close to the end cinch had Maroon use it to have them win and she initially refused as Summer and Winter came to her aid. Cinch grabbed Maroon's pendant and threw it at the ground below the three as winter and summer chucked theirs to the ones who could save them. The two pendants landed in the hands of Sunrise and Crimson as the three changed into twisted versions of themselves. The realm was going to fall apart while the three wanted to understand more about their new abilities.

Sunrise and Crimson worked together with the help of their friends to calm down the three only for something from below to shoot into them and everything went white as everything fell apart for something new to come.
