Asking her out (in) to dinner

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Fleur is many things to a lot of people; a Model (obviously), a business partner, and even some ponies best friend. However nothing in those experiences could have prepared her for how she would feel after this interaction. She was in her dressing room prepping for a photoshoot when;

Thump Thump Thump

“Fleur are you in there?” She heard Icarus ask from the other side.

“Come in!” Fleur said, trying to contain her happiness. She loved when he stopped by, but this time it gave her quite the scare. Then a question that made her question if she was right in the head.

“Hey uh Fleur, I need your help planning a date,” Icarus asked sheepishly. Fleur dropped the brush she was applying her blush with.

“You need help planning a wha-” She couldn’t even finish her sentence. She thought he was into her. Yet, here he was asking for help planning a, a, a date?! She would have the mare who stole her sweet Icarus foal napped and…what the hay was wrong with her. Icarus saw the look of horror on Fleur's face, and realized what it sounded like he was asking.

“Ah wait, It’s not for me! It's for dad and Princess Luna,” Icarus said, waving his hooves around in a panic. Fleur exhaled a breath she didn’t know she was holding. After a few moments of calming herself she picked up her brush again to finish blending her makeup.

“Mon amour, don’t scare me like that,” Fleur said. Icarus blushed, and rubbed the back of his neck..

“Sorry, that was totally out of left field, but I need your help. Please~” Icarus pleaded, looking up at Fleur with puppy eyes. If cupid was in the room there had to be at least a dozen arrows in her chest as she looked at him. He was just so cute, how was she ever going to say no to him when they started going out? The way his adorable amber eyes and shaggy brown mane looked at her made her weak in the knees. She shook her head and cleared her throat as a blush crept onto her face. There was plenty of time to fawn over him later, her love needed her help now.

“Ahem, well amour. I suppose I could help brainstorm some places for your father to a Princess,” Fleur said, trying to sound aloof. However her facade crumbled the second Icarus ran up and bear hugged her.

“Thank you! Thank you! You’re the best Fleur!” Icarus said, happily squeezing her. It was at that moment that Fleur might have come close to passing on to the next life. She had not seen him this happy or excited ever. No pony was going to disappoint her angel, including her.

“For you Amour, anything. Now we have to get ready for this photoshoot, Starry gets annoying when we’re late,” Fleur said. Icarus let go of Fleur, still smiling brightly.

“Ah yeah right, if you aren’t busy tonight, I was thinking about another dinner?…Together?” Icarus asked.

“Je le jure devant Celestia,” Fleur said, before pulling Icarus into a kiss. He could not have been any cuter. If only she didn’t have to do this shoot. Fleur broke the kiss and licked her lips.

“I-Uh. I mean Wh-” Icarus stammered, unable to form a singular coherent thought. His knees felt unusually weak and face very warm. Fleur giggled, looking at him struggling to pull himself together.

“Work first, we can talk dinner later amour,” Fleur cooed, walking out of her dressing room. Leaving the young stallion a few moments to try and pull his head out from cloud 9.

“ICARUS! Where is my assistant!?” Starry yelled, snapping him from his thoughts. Plenty of time for the frenzy of thoughts swimming in his head.

“C-comin’ Sorry!” Icarus called back, scrambling to his hooves and dashing out of the dressing room.

“Why do you have Lipstick on? Child at least be discreet, no?” Starry said, in a hushed tone, looking at Icarus coming out of Fleurs dressing room. He blushed and disappeared into the bathroom down the hall. What a way to start his week… but at least he was happy.

“Here ya go dad,” Icarus said, holding a piece of paper in his mouth. Sombra sighed, and used his magic to take the paper.

“And this is?” Sombra asked, reading down the list. He saw restaurant names, parks, and floral shops?

“Ideas and places for your date with Princess Luna! Fleur and I brainstormed some ideas and-” Icarus paused. Sombra folded the paper and put it in his bag, and exhaled sharply. He had Completely forgotten that he was supposed to take Luna out sometime next week.

“I appreciate your thoughtfulness, I shall look into these establishments,” Sombra said, pulling Icarus into a hug. He would never forget what Icarus no, his son had done for him.

“No biggie! Plus what I heard from Tia, Luna doesn’t like busy places so there are some hiking spots,” Icarus said. He had a feeling Sombra had forgotten since they’d gotten home last week. Getting drowned in a month's worth of photoshoots, approvals, and tailor appointments can be overwhelming even for a former King.

“I see her purse by the door, where is Ms. de Lis? ” Sombra asked, once Icarus was done explaining the list.

“Oh she’s in the guest room, we’re gonna do movie night! There's; Frankenmares Monster, Black Scorpion, Journey through the badlands.” Icarus said. Sombra smiled and released Icarus before hanging up his work bag.

“I’ll stay out of the way, have fun, but not too much fun,” Sombra said. Icarus rolled his eyes before grabbing popcorn from the pantry.

“Ok dad thanks, dinner is still on the stove, and your bourbon glasses are clean,” Icarus said.

“Oh Icarus~ Movies starting~,” Fleur called from down the hall. Sombra and Icarus locked eyes for a moment and nodded at each other in unison.

“Duty calls,” Icarus said, giving a small salute and jogging off. Sombra laughed to himself, as he watched his son enter the guest room. He remembered when he and Luna were like that. Young, full of energy with plenty of love to give. He knew better than to expect things with Luna to mend themselves quickly. However, there was a spark in his heart that desperately ached to be re-ignited.

“Gah, this will get me nowhere,” Sombra said, scolding himself. Dwelling on the past was something he would have done before he met Icarus. Not now, not when he had some pony that believed he could do anything. Sombra was given the chance of a lifetime and he was going to make the absolute best of it. Going to the stove he levitated a bowl over and filled it up. Taking a whiff his mouth watered. Sitting at the table, Sombra hummed in contentment as he ate.

“You’re adorable, you know that,” Sombra could hear Fleur say. He rolled his eyes and used his magic to close the door. Would he be able to sit with Luna like that? He wondered, as he continued to enjoy his meal. While being slightly envious of his son having company.

Icarus walked into the studio late the next day, he spent all night watching movies with Fleur. He didn’t expect her to stay the entire night, and he was less than prepared mentally to handle that. He didn’t get a lick of sleep, while it looked like Fleur slept like a baby.

“For Celestia’s sake you're late, Icarus, and what happened to your neck?” Starry Lens asked. A little too loud for his liking and drawing the attention of a few coworkers.

“Ah well, ya know…stuff,” He replied, yawning. His cheeks turned a light shade of pink as he looked around to see some of his coworkers crowded around him to examine the marks on his neck.

“Icarus you player! Who’s hair and perfume is this? ,” one of the photographers asked, playfully punching his shoulder. Only causing his blush to deepen.

“Ah no, It’s n-nothing like that,” Icarus mumbled. Then the reason for his current state of being sauntered over.

“Mon ami, what happened to you?,” Fleur asked, smirking at him. Icarus should have expected nothing less of the Pro model. Acting as if she was truly shocked at what she saw. The look on her face was one of an artist admiring their artwork. Trying to see where they could improve for the future. Icarus seemed to be the only one who caught onto that, but that was probably because he was her proverbial canvas. After trying to weasel his way out of answering questions, Starry stomped a hoof.

“Ok zat is enough, every pony into position now. Fleur go get ready, Icarus help with ze cameras,” Starry said, sighing. She figured this was enough healthy public shaming for him. Seriously, when was he going to learn to be discreet with his personal life? He is young but he should be like his father.

“Hmm,” Starry hummed in delight, at the thought of Sombra. She wished he hadn’t called off today. She wouldn’t have the chance to add any pictures to her personal album of him.
