Fluttershy's Nature Show, Season Two
Episode Ten: Bear, Part One
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Oh, yeah. I went to see her today, and she was just fine."
Fluttershy sighs. "Oh, good. I'm glad she's recovering. I hope she's not too mad at me."
"Don't be ridiculous," snorts Twilight. "Rainbow Dash is already ready to forgive you. After all, you brought the ponies that saved her, and the whole reason she fought the hydra to begin with was to save you. That's just who she is. You don't have to worry about her."
"Yes, I do," gulps Fluttershy. "That's just who I am. I can't pretend that I'm not the sort of pony who wouldn't worry about an injured friend. Of course I'm worried about her."
"Trust me, she's fine. Rainbow's been through worse scrapes than that."
"Okay..." Fluttershy takes a deep breath. "At least we're doing something safe today."
"Oh, right. I forgot to look at the schedule. What animal are we looking at today?"
"A grizzly bear."
The camera stops moving through the trees and Fluttershy takes several steps before turning around. "Twilight?"
Twilight clears her throat. "A grizzly bear?"
"Yeah."
"That's what you call "safe?""
Fluttershy sighs. "Twilight, Harry's a good friend of mine. You spotted him at my last critter picnic. He was the one serving tea, remember?"
"I do not."
Fluttershy scoffs. "He and Rainbow went to the beach in May. He was there to play seashells and collect volleyballs."
"I think you're mixing up the details..."
Fluttershy thinks for a moment, then smiles as realisation washes over her. "You're right, forgive me. He went to the beach with me, and Rainbow Dash was already there."
"No, I mean... Nevermind."
"Relax, Twilight," smiles Fluttershy, trekking back to put a hand on Twilight's shoulder. The camera tilts down to between Fluttershy's breasts as she comes closer. "Harry is one of the nicest bears around. He doesn't even eat ponies like us."
Twilight sighs. "Okay. I'll take your word for it."
"Oh, you don't have to do that. You'll see how pleasant he is when you meet him. Again."
Before too long, they come across a cave. Or at least, it looks like one until they step inside. There are miniature skylights, big, open chambers that have little holes in the walls that are decorated with little things, and even a makeshift bed.
"This feels more like a house than a cave," notes Twilight.
"Harry's a very classy guy. He's fixed the place up to the best of his abilities, and it even looks like he cleaned up for our visit. Last time, that carving was covered in dust."
Twilight turns to the roots that line one of the walls that have been woven to resemble shelving. There are some wooden carvings, some of which are discernable as actual carvings of creatures. Most of them are fish, but it's pretty clear that he can tell the difference between salmon and bass. Or if he can't, he can at least put all of the details of a bass to one block of wood, and all of the salmon details to another. Clearly, these are different fish. Then there are other carvings, like a cat, a squirrel, and a flat-ish plank that kind of looks like Fluttershy's face. It definitely has her hairstyle, though her nose is too high, and her eyes are slightly lopsided.
"He carved these himself?"
"Most of them," confirms Fluttershy. "He's a real patron of the arts. And if you think that's a good one, you should see the one he's currently working on. Of course, you'll have to turn off the camera for that. He doesn't want to show it off until it's ready."
"And you're sure he's friendly?"
Fluttershy shook her head. "Twilight, he's fine. He's not going to hurt us."
As if in response to Fluttershy's claim, a very large, very angry bear roars at them from behind the camera. Twilight turns around and can't help but shake the camera as she points it at the massive brown beast before her.
"Excuse me?" growls Fluttershy back at him. "That language is not for civil tongues, mister!"
The bear growls again, then lowers down to the floor.
"That's better. Here, let me help you with that."
Fluttershy straddles the bear's back, showing off her mint green panties as she grabs ahold of his left shoulder and starts yanking, bending and twisting, causing the bear to yelp out a few times, then start cooing as she finds the right spot to knead with her elbows.
"I'll bet it does. What were you doing that damaged your shoulder so badly?"
He growls and vocalises a bit, but it's not very loud.
"Oh, how thoughtful!"
He then lets out a soft roar, followed by a snort.
"How awful!"
"Care to clue me in?" asks Twilight.
"Oh, sorry," bows Fluttershy. "Harry found some baby birds just sitting on the ground. He found the nest just up above, and lifted the chicks back up to safety. But then the branch he was holding onto snapped, and he fell and hit his shoulder on a rock. See how it's all swollen?"
The camera looks a bit closer, but the swelling is invisible through all of the thick fur. What is visible is that the fur is not knotted or tangled, but still a bit whipped, crimped and dirty. Like a shaggy dog that had a bath and had its coat brushed and dried, then went outside a few hours later to roll around in the autumn leaves. For how soiled his coat could be, it's actually very clean, and even shiny in some places, as if he had run a brush through it this very morning.
"You know, I can kind of buy that this particular bear would come to a tea party, now."
Harry tilts his head to the side, letting out a confused croon.
"She is. I tried to tell her you've met before, but she wasn't so convinced. She was at that critter picnic, too."
"Okay, okay," waved Twilight. "I'm big enough to admit that I was wrong. I'm mature enough to acknowledge that I'm capable of forgetting things."
"We forgive you," smiles Fluttershy.
Harry looks up at Fluttershy, furrowing his brow.
"Yes, you do. Or I could stop massaging your shoulder, and we can go on now?"
He lowers his head and snorts in acceptance that he's ready to accept Twilight's apology, whether he likes it or not.
