Spike The Spinjitzu Master
35: The Invitation
Previous ChapterWe open to a shot on a sunny day within Ninjago once again, the camera pins around to a large island deep within Ninjago. Zooming in more and more until it enters a nearby forest, but as the camera pins into the forest, we see a group of Nindroids guarding the area, looking around for someone.
But as one walks by some flower, an eye blinks as it reveals a familiar ninja hiding within plain sight, and was waiting for his move. The ninja quickly moves and goes behind one Nindroid and knocks him down instantly which got the other Nindroids attention, but a familiar Green Ninja leaped down from the air and kicked more down before throwing multiple shuriken's at another group before roughly taking down one more with one hit.
And just from behind another Ninja, a familiar snake in a new purple suit made for her appears from behind one Nindroid, and takes them down easily with no effort, and as the figures jump back on the ground and lands skillfully, it's revealed to be Lloyd and Allison who were doing an important mission while the other's were no where to be found. And once the area was clear, they both made their way to a nearby cave to find something very important.
The two made their way within the cave and soon came upon a security system of lasers and sensors across the whole room, but using their ninja skills, their able to make short work of it and make it past without much trouble, making it through silently and skillfully.
But just as they reached the end, Allison instantly dodges another laser blast that almost hit her, and she and Lloyd see even more Nindroids just down the hall that had a strange hole with a light coming from it. Lloyd quickly ducks under the lasers coming at him in a familiar style, and Allison jumps over him and tail whips multiple Nindroids off their feet, and using this opportunity, Lloyd assisted her and ran in to take the rest of them down.
"Ninja go!!" Lloyd screamed again as he used Spinjitzu and swooped them all into his Green Tornado, and within seconds, he took all of them down in just a few hits before they all flew out and landed on the ground.
But just as they finished up with the group, the place shakes again and they see a large boulder coming down from behind them, and wasting no time, the two wrapped two ropes around them and quickly made their way to the hall, and just before they were crushed, they both jumped through the hole and soon found themselves within a secure vault.
Just in front of them was the Golden Armor and Spike's own Trident that was now kept under high security after their last battle. Lloyd and Allison tried not to touch the floor as it would set off the alarms, but as they had the weapon and armor in their sight, they tried to move back and forth to get it before being caught.
"Come.. on!!" Allison begged as she tried using her tail to get her father's staff, but it was too far away for both of them to retrieve, and they sighed in defeat knowing they didn't pass this again.
"Alright, that's enough you two." Wu announced from the distance which made them turn around and saw him and Borg were watching them during the test.
"You got closer then I thought you would, I am impressed with how much progress you've made in these last few months Allison." Borg said with a smile while Allison and Lloyd stood up and took off their masks to show their faces again.
"Simulated training really has been helping me get more skilled, I'm very close to learning Spinjitzu, maybe once I do, we'll finally be able to pass that test." Allison said hopefully which made Wu smile seeing how optimistic she is about this.
"You have made excellent progress Allison, even without Spinjitzu, your Anacondrai ability's are certainly being put to good use, and when we soon go on a real mission, you'll be more then ready for it." Wu assured while Lloyd chuckled hearing that from him.
"Yes, but I didn't think you'd both be so rough on my.. Security Droids, although I should've expected this coming from you Allison." Borg said as he motioned over to the really busted up Nindroids they had taken out moments ago.
"If both me and Allison can't steal the Golden Armor, or Spike's Golden Weapon, I don't see how anyone can." Lloyd replied as he helped Borg move around the place as he was in his wheelchair once again after all that chaos months ago.
"Yeah, their really secure just from the simulation, but where is my dad's real Golden Weapon, as well as the Armor?" Allison asked curiously while Borg looked at her to answer.
"Some secrets are best left safe. Spike's weapon is too powerful to be put out in public you know? But if he requires his weapon again, we'll gladly let him use it when he needs it again." Borg replied which she nodded in understanding from.
"Lloyd, Allison, where are Spike and the others? I asked for everyone to take part in this test?" Wu questioned wondering where they were.
"They.. really wanted to be here.. but uh, they all had other plans." Lloyd said nervously while Allison looked down sadly knowing how rough Spike's handled things lately.
"I've rarely seen my dad smile after what happened months ago, he's been extremely depressed after.. what happened.." Allison said sadly as she remembered what happened with Zane..
"Yes.. it is understandable, the loss of Zane's affected us all, I haven't even heard or seen my assistant Pixal since Zane's memorial. It's heartbreaking.." Borg said with guilt for what's happened.
"If we dwell too long on what's missing, we fail to see what has been gained. The absence of Zane will either tear you all apart, or bring you closer together. The choice is yours." Wu instructed while Lloyd thought over all of it.
"Do you think you could go out and find them Lloyd? I know my dad may be harder to find, but do you think you can find him? I.. still have more training to get done for the next week.." Allison asked hopefully which Lloyd hoped he could do too.
"I'll do what I can, but it won't be easy Allison. I'll try to get Spike to help me get the others back." Lloyd assured while Wu hoped he could.
"The greatest lessons never are easy you two." Wu explained again as they went out to take a moment to rest.
Far away from Ninjago, around an hour after that talk together, Spike was currently seen meditating within the Temple of Light, he had been coming here every week since Zane's loss, it was the only other way he thought he can process his grief. This was the place that really gave him the power he has now, when they came here so long ago, it was a life changing moment for him, and now, he just feels lost.
He had been here for years at this point, the last time he had seen Twilight, or his friends was right before he got sucked into that mirror, and was taken away from Equestria. He doesn't know if anything bad's happened in his home or not, he's just had so many overwhelming thoughts on his mind, coming to this place is the only thing to help him right now.
Spike sighed sadly and soon opened his eyes after thinking over all of this, and as he looked up to the murals depicting what they went through when he came here, he saw the image of Twilight, Celestia and Luna, as well as the reset of the main 6, he just felt more sad as he thought about how worried they could be for him, and with all he's went through here, he can't even begin to think of how he can ever get back.
"I miss you guys.. I'm trying my best, but.. I don't know what to do. After Zane's sacrifice, I don't know what to do anymore, even with Lloyd and Allison trying to support me, I just.. wish I could let you all know I'm okay.." Spike said to himself as he looked at the mural, still thinking over all of it.
But as he stayed silent, he felt the wind suddenly move by him in moments, and he had an idea on who was here to see him.
"The team needs you now more then ever Spike." Lloyd announced as he entered the room, and Spike turned around and saw him coming up to him after going to find him.
"How did you even get here Lloyd? Why are you here?" Spike questioned while Lloyd walked up to him as Spike stood up so they can talk about this.
"I have my ways Spike, you doing alright?" Lloyd asked with worry while Spike sighed again, and shook his head hearing that.
"Isn't it obvious Lloyd? I.. can't accept it still, after all we went through with him, all the adventures we had together, because of the Overlord, he's.. gone.. I.. could've done something to save him.. anything.." Spike said with tears while Lloyd put a hand on his shoulder to help him process this.
"I miss him too Spike, we all do. But we can't just let his loss keep us apart, you've barely spent any time with Allison after what happened. She's getting stronger as a Ninja, soon enough she may finally learn Spinjitzu. While she still needs to work on her powers, she's come a long way after what happened, and she's worried for you more then anything." Lloyd reminded which made Spike look down shamefully hearing that.
"I know Lloyd, it's just.. I don't know how to do this without him, I've tried for months to move on, but.. I just can't, he was the first one I really became friends with here before Kai and the others, before I found Allison, and had become a Ninja myself. Even with all the power I have.. I don't know how to do this.. on my own.." Spike said sadly while Lloyd looked down and knew how he felt about it.
"I know the feeling Spike, but you need to remember that we made it through all of those adventures as a team. Zane wouldn't want us to keep grieving his loss, he'd want us to keep moving forward, no matter what happens. You've done so much here Spike, you've been a great and caring father for Allison, she wouldn't be here if you weren't with us. And it isn't just her who needs you Spike, the people of Ninjago still need you, even without Zane, I know he'd be proud to see you keep going." Lloyd encouraged while Spike thought over his words.
"Yeah.. we've all faced those bad guys together, and when you and I defeated the Overlord together, it changed my life completely. And.. I wouldn't have been here without his help, without.. all of you there to help me." Spike said as he looked at Lloyd again who gave him an assuring smile to help.
"And your still standing here today Spike, I know it's been tough, but.. we need to try and move on. The others need our help too, and I didn't want to do this without you. If we get the team back together, I think I have an idea on how we can handle this, you up for it buddy?" Lloyd asked hopefully while Spike stayed silent for a moment, but after he looked back at the murals of his friends, he knew they wouldn't want him to keep grieving like this, Zane wouldn't either, and after looking back on what Lloyd said, he finally felt more confidence to keep going again after all this time.
"I think so Lloyd, if you know where to find the others, I'll gladly come along. Thank you, I know I haven't done.. much in these past few months, but once we're back with the others, I think it'll get better." Spike said thankfully which Lloyd smiled after hearing it.
"Your welcome Spike, come on, I have an idea on where to find the others, let's go." Lloyd advised as he was making his way to the exit, and just before he left, he made one last look at the murals again, and hoped that one day, he'll find a way back home.
"I promise we'll see eachother one day Twilight, no matter how long it takes." Spike said to himself as he turned around and began leaving with Lloyd again, leaving the temple empty once again.
After Lloyd convinced Spike to go with him to find the others, they flew around Ninjago a bit more to find where they could be, they had heard about where they might be, and wasting no time, they went to where they heard Jay was first. He was apparently the host of a show in Ninjago where one goes through an obstacle course, and while the competitor failed this time, she at least had fun while Jay seemed to be having a fun time too.
But as he went into a back room for some thinking, Jay sighed to himself as he looked at a mirror and looked at a picture of him, Spike, Lloyd and the others, after what happened with Zane, he just feels tired of it all, but he feels nothing but regret for the loss of such a close friend.
"Ninja never quit, huh Zane?" Jay asked sadly while he looked at the photo before two voices suddenly could be heard.
"The team needs you now more then ever." Lloyd announced which made Jay look behind him before he screamed with surprise seeing Spike and Lloyd were already here.
"How did you two get in here?!" Jay asked with surprise seeing how he didn't notice them before.
"We're ninja's Jay, you should expect that." Spike replied casually while shrugging his shoulders.
"Not to mention that you, are wearing makeup." Lloyd pointed out seeing how strange his hair looks right now.
"Hey, hey, it's concealer, a time honored tool of the Ninja, but what do you mean team Lloyd? I refuse to fight besides Cole again I will never forgive that girl stealing.. black hearted, rock pounding.." Jay listed out with frustration before the two made him stop.
"Ugh, come on Jay your still hung up over that? It's been months for Celestia's sake." Spike complained while slapping his fist seeing how this is still going.
"Spike, please don't right now alright?" Lloyd asked which made Spike sigh in understanding before he nodded after hearing it.
"Your right.. Jay, she misses you, you know that? She wouldn't want you to be doing this, Allison wouldn't want me to keep grieving Zane's loss like this, neither would Twilight. This isn't the way for you to move on, you know that right?" Spike reminded as they haven't seen eachother ever since Zane's funeral, and Jay soon looked ashamed knowing how she must feel about this.
"You know you don't belong here Jay, your the Master of Lightning, not the Master of Lighting." Lloyd encouraged while Jay sat down at his chair again to think about it.
"You know where we'll be if you change your mind, come on Spike." Lloyd said as he and Spike jumped off screen and vanished which left Jay alone who sighed sadly again. But as he went to put on more make up, once he fully realized he was doing and looked at the mirror, he finally had enough and threw the thing at the mirror out of frustration seeing what he's become.
We cut to a forest where a ton of Lumberjacks were currently working at, Cole was seen chopping down a tree branch with his axe, not noticing Spike and Lloyd were watching him with their skills before they landed on a branch just above him.
"The team needs you now more then ever!" Lloyd repeated while they looked down at him who sighed seeing they were both here.
"I thought I was good with a scythe, turns out, I'm even better with an axe!" Cole shouted back while he delivered multiple chops to the branch he was on before sighing with frustration.
"I'm tired of fighting guys, tired of Serpentine, tired of Nindroids, and tired of.. Jay. Out here, no one expects anything of you." Cole said as he looked around the large construction site around them.
"And where's the excitement in life without that? If you never expect anything of yourself, you'll never realize just how much your capable of! I became a Ninja for reasons like that Cole, to see just how much I can do, and I wouldn't have gotten here today, if it wasn't for the help from all of you." Spike reminded while Cole looked down again hearing that.
"I'm sorry Spike, but sometimes, it's best to just stick to what you can do." Cole replied which Spike shook his head at seeing that's how he feels right now.
"Come on Cole, your the Master of Earth! Your feet are supposed to be on the ground, you can't hide who you are, none of us can." Lloyd encouraged again as they went to a smaller branch just next to them.
"Sorry guys, but this is my life now." Cole replied as he was about to get back to work. But just then, one of the logs that was lowered onto the pile of logs began tumbling over, and the other workers soon realized that it was about to break.
"Oh no! Cracked stem! She's falling hard!!" The worker screamed just as all the logs began to fall and role towards the worker which the three of them noticed, and not wanting to let anyone be harmed, Cole jumped off the tree branch with skill and went to put a stop to it.
"Earth!!" Cole screamed just as he slammed his fist on the ground and shot spiked rocks from the ground which surrounded and stopped all the logs in place, and all the workers looked completely amazed seeing what he just did.
"Who is that?" A worker asked with amazement as Cole took a moment to rest.
"I don't know, but he's definitely not one of us!" Another one said with a grateful smile while all of them cheered for him as Cole was about to leave for now until he saw Lloyd and Spike just on the tree above him again.
"If you change your mind Cole, you'll know where we'll be." Lloyd said once again before the two of them left to find Kai while Cole took some time to think over this.
And lastly, they went to find where Kai currently was, and after hearing news of someone called The Flaming Shogun winning multiple fight clubs, they had an idea on who that was. They went to a fighting club where they could see multiple tougher looking people who were looking for a fight, and after seeing Kai knock easily down Cruncha who sounded off, they waited for the right moment to speak with him while keeping a watch over this.
And once Kai went over to get a drink, correcting himself as the Red Shogun, he only sighed with sadness as he still felt guilt for the loss of Zane.
"You shouldn't drink to much juice, it's filled with more sugar then you realize." Lloyd advised which made Kai look to his side to see Spike and Lloyd were next to him after appearing out of nowhere.
"Oh, it's you two." Kai said with an upset look while looking at the table instead.
"Come on Kai, the team needs you now more then ever." Spike said as he tried to convince him to meet up with him and the others.
"Who says the great and powerful Green Ninja and Master of Crystal needs a team? You both are looking to be just fine as a duo." Kai replied knowing how much more capable they both are then he is right now.
"I get it Kai, you've run out of bad guys to fight, and you gotta come to a place like this, but where is the honor in that? Where's the Master of Fire?" Lloyd asked again while looking at the place around them.
"It's the Red Shogun now guys. Where's the Master of Ice huh? He's gone, but I'm still here. And who cares about honor, it should've been me, not him.. I was the one who..." Kai said just before Lloyd stopped him to try and convince him again.
"You always thought you should've been the one, first it was the Green Ninja, now this. When are you gonna start thinking of someone other then yourself?" Lloyd asked again while he looked extremely ashamed of himself for all of that.
"It takes more then one person to protect others Kai, were all supposed to be a team no matter what, even if Zane's.. gone, he wouldn't want us to be apart like this, he'd want us to keep fighting together, no matter what threatens Ninjago." Spike encouraged with a small smile again while patting his shoulder.
"If you change your mind, you know where me and Spike will be, let's go." Lloyd said to Spike once again before the two of them suddenly vanished just as he turned around, and he sighed again seeing them go.
And after that, he went around Ninjago City to think to himself, going to the park where Zane's statue was to think over it, and as he went up to it which had become a bit dirtier overtime due to nature, as he looked up at it, he finally realized that Zane wouldn't want this from them, and he rubbed the statue a bit before finally deciding to meet up with the others.
He soon went to a different part of the city, to a popular restaurant that he and the others often met up at, while he still is a bit hesitant on this, if it helps him figure out what to do, it'll be worth it.
"There's only one, Master Chen's! Ninjago's number one noodle house!" The Voice of Chen said over a speaker and large sign that was holding some noodles as Kai looked up at it curiously before going into the place himself.
Kai went into the place and tried looking around for them, but he didn't see anything but a conveyer of different foods for them to eat, but just then, a hand was raised into the air to get his attention.
"Kai! Over here!" Lloyd called out which made him go up to the table he was at, but once he saw that Jay and Cole were also here with him and Spike, he figured out just what this was.
"Jay? Cole? Is that you guys?" Kai asked with surprise while Cole looked at him while still looking upset after staring at the food passing by.
"Huh, so they got you two huh?" Cole asked as he looked back at the food next to them.
"The runts tricked us all!'" Jay said with an upset look seeing he has to sit near Cole once again.
"Hey it was obvious you and Cole wouldn't come if either if you knew you were coming, we had to keep things a secret." Spike said in defense while Kai sat next to Cole and was about to reach out for some food before Lloyd stopped his hand.
"Hold on, talk first, then we'll eat." Lloyd instructed which frustrated Cole.
"Trust me Kai, do you know what kind of restrain I've had to just stare at all of this noodle goodness? Your late!" Cole complained while looking back at him before Lloyd tried to get this talk going.
"Alright guys, I know without Zane, things have been different. But we need to move on, the reason I brought you all here is because.. maybe we should add, someone new to our team?" Lloyd suggested which no one thought was a good idea.
"A new Ninja?!" Kai asked with an upset tone hearing that.
"Are you crazy?!" Jay shouted with anger not liking that idea at all.
"You can't be serious!" Spike argued back as even he didn't know this was what Lloyd wanted.
"Come on! Zane's irreplicable!" Cole complained again while Lloyd looked upset at the mention of him again.
"I care for him too but, now it's time to care about this team." Lloyd argued back while Spike crossed his arms.
"What about Allison? Hasn't she been training with you ever since we last saw eachother?" Spike suggested thinking she could handle things better then him at the moment.
"Allison's still got a lot of training to finish Spike, she still doesn't even know Spinjitzu, and she can barely use her powers still, until she's fully able to use them, she's wanting to keep up her training till then, sorry Spike." Lloyd explained which he groaned at after hearing it.
"Then maybe without Zane, there is no team. No one can ever replace him." Kai argued back while he looked away from the others who thought over it. But just as they tried thinking about what to do, the door to the restaurant opened up again, and Jay gasped with surprise as he saw a bunch of tough looking thugs coming in to rob the place.
"Don't look now guys, but we got trouble!" Jay warned as they looked ahead and saw the thugs were stealing money from the register, and when the cashier didn't have anything to give them, they began rudely shoving him on the conveyer which was blocking the food from reaching them, giving Cole a reason to deal with them.
"Alright, now their our problem!" Cole declared while they all stood up and approached the thugs who had strange snake tattoos on their faces.
"Excuse me, it's not polite to touch someone else's food!" Cole warned while he had chopsticks in his hands as the others were right behind him.
"You don't want this fight punks, it's five against three!" Spike warned while he clutched his claws ready for a fight. And not taking the warning, one of the thugs tried punching Spike which resulted in Spike catching his fist and twisting it painfully which made a loud crack, and the guy screamed before Spike grabbed his shoulders and threw him over the conveyer's which made a loud crash as a result.
The other thugs growled with anger before they tried to attack the others, Cole was able to block one of them with his chopsticks by catching him just as he almost hit him, and Kai jumped on the conveyer before he started kicking the rest of the food in their faces as it was starting to speed up.
"Alright, I admit it! We make a good team!" Kai shouted as Spike flipped behind one of the thugs before grabbing his head and shoving it right into a plate of food as payback for the cashier.
"Best thing about this job, we get to kick plenty of bad guy butt!" Spike shouted again before he used his tail and whipped the guy he threw down before just as he was getting up again. And as Cole was fighting against one of the thugs while food was flying everywhere, he decided to grab and eat a bit of the food since he didn't want them to go to waste.
"Everything's better on a full stomach!" Cole said to the others who were all punching the other thugs, but before he could get another shrimp, the thug he was fighting knocked it away which really upset him.
"Hey! I was gonna eat that!" Cole shouted with anger before he grabbed his shoulders and threw him into a place of noodles on the conveyer in response to that.
Kai quickly ran back from one of the thugs who tried attacking him once again, but after Kai delivered a hard kick to his chest, it knocked him back and made him role across the conveyer into the other thugs before he jumped off them and landed back on the ground next to the others, looking very proud of teaching them a lesson.
"How can you walk away from this?" Lloyd asked with a smile while the others were starting to see what he means.
But as the thugs were dragged across the conveyer, a child screamed with fear upon seeing them which made the mother really angry seeing them, and she began repeatedly hitting one of them with a plate which finally made them begin escaping to a back door just nearby, and what looked to be the leader glared back at them one more time before heading out too which got their attention.
"Hey! Let's get em guys!" Cole shouted as they all ran after the thugs into an alley just next to the place.
But to their surprise, the thugs were all gone as soon as they came out, and it left them confused on where they went.
"What?! Are you serious?! How did they..?!" Spike asked with shock as they looked around to find them, but as they looked around, to their shock, they saw what looked to be a picture of Zane right in front of an alter that had candles and fortune cookies layed out for all of them.
"What's this?" Lloyd asked with surprise as they came closer to the picture, and looked surprised seeing Zane on it.
"It's... Zane.." Kai said with shock while Lloyd grabbed the poster to read it as it had something written on it.
"What does it say?" Cole asked as Lloyd looked extremely shocked seeing what the poster is saying.
"It says.. he's alive." Lloyd revealed which made everyone gasp with complete shock hearing that.
"What?!" Spike shouted with shock as he looked at the poster himself, and couldn't believe what it's saying, and Zane.. really could be still alive..
"I don't think those thugs were delivering a message to the noodle house, I think they were delivering a message to us!" Kai declared while they all looked at the poster to process this.
The very idea that Zane could be alive astonished them to no end, given they saw him literally explode to defeat the Overlord, leaving no traces of him left, it seemed impossible, and yet.. knowing Zane, he.. could've found a way to save himself, at the very last second.
"What do you mean it says.. he's alive?" Jay asked wanting to make sure this wasn't a sick prank.
"Hey I'm just telling you all what it says." Lloyd replied while looking at it again.
"Why would those thugs lead us here?" Kai questioned while looking at Spike who didn't know either.
"Maybe this was just so we could find this ourselves, without anyone else knowing it.." Spike suggested which could be true.
"That might be the case Spike..." Kai replied while he put his hand on his chin to think over this revelation.
"This has to be some sort of cruel joke, and I'm not laughing!" Cole replied not wanting to believe a possible lie like this.
"Look, I think these were meant for us too." Lloyd said as they looked at the cookies just in front of them.
"Fortune cookies?" Jay asked with confusion while they all took them, but Cole just ate his completely without even considering why their called that.
"Uh.. you do know there's a fortune inside them right?" Kai asked as he opened his up and Cole gulped as he saw the paper was in them.
"Oh, so that's why their called that." Cole joked which Spike chuckled at as he took the paper out before eating the cookie part of it like how it should be.
"Next time, just try to take things slower alright Cole?" Spike asked with a smile while Cole nodded in agreement as he and he others started to read what theirs said.
"Listen to this guys, Master Chen has personally invited you to participate in his Tournament of Elements." Lloyd read out loud which made Cole realize something important.
"Wait a minute, are you saying that Mr. Chen, the same guy filling my belly with delicious goodness, is actually Master Chen?!" Cole asked with shock while Spike raised an eye hearing it.
"They have the exact same name Cole, I thought that might be obvious."" Spike replied which Cole shrugged at.
"There are plenty of people named Chen in Ninjago, how was I suppose to know?" Cole asked again which Spike could see.
"Fair point." Spike replied casually as they kept reading what the fortunes said.
"This Tournament will be the gathering of Elemental Masters just like you who have been keeping themselves hidden all this time, if you wish to see more just like you, then this Tournament will be determine which one of you, is the strongest one of them all." Spike read out loud which fascinated the others hearing it.
"Secrecy is of the utmost importance, tell no one or suffer the consequences." Kai read with a warning tone while Jay finished up his fortune.
"If you ever want to see your friend again, meet on the peer at midnight, and leave your weapons behind." Jay finished which concerned the rest of them.
But at that moment, Jay's fortune suddenly exploded into a bunch of smoke which surprised them all, followed by everyone else's that vanished as soon as they finished reading them.. including Cole's which exploded in his stomach which made him scream with surprise before he made a loud burp since one was likely in the one he had too.
"At least I know I was invited!" Cole joked again which the others laughed at for a bit before getting back to the topic.
"A Tournament of other Elemental Masters? Could that really be possible? I haven't even heard of other possible Elemental Masters like us ever since I came here." Spike pointed out as this sounded too good to be true.
"You guys don't think..?" Lloyd asked again while he looked at Kai who got a similar feeling.
"It could be a trap." Kai declared not liking where this is going.
"But what if it's not? What if Zane really is alive?" Jay asked again while Lloyd looked at the poster to think over it again.
"The Tournament of Elements.. I'm starting to think that Master Chen makes more then just noodles." Lloyd replied which seemed to be the case with this.
"You can forget bringing in a new Ninja Lloyd, let's go see about an old one." Kai declared while they looked at the poster again, and hoped that this wasn't a sick joke.
As we cut to Garmadon's monastery on the next day where Lloyd was currently preparing to meet up with the others at the peer, Garmadon was walking into the center room where Wu, Nya and Allison were currently planning out something important.
"Hmm, are you all planning on fixing the Bounty?" Garmadon asked as they put some blueprints down that showed it's new design.
"It's been a few years since the thing was brought down, with the free time we've had, we thought it was best to finally rebuild it after so long." Allison replied while she tried using her own powers to lift some of the papers up, but she only barely managed to lift them up in the air before they fell back down, leaving her a bit upset she can't fully use them still.
"Don't worry Allison, your getting better with using them, all of this will take time, but we will find a way to help you learn to use your powers, don't give up hope." Wu advised which she hoped for.
"Maybe dad could give me some advise on what I can do.. if he was here still.." Allison said with worry for where he is as she's still not heard from him in quite a while.
"Don't worry Allison, once we're done fixing the Bounty, we'll try to find where he is. But we could use the extra help." Nya said to Garmadon who nodded in response and went to get Lloyd who was in his room, listening to the Weekend Whip once again as he was packing some stuff up for a long trip.
But before he went to get his supply of weapons, he remembered that they can't bring any of them along for this, and went back to packing things up just before Garmadon opened the door to inform him of what's happening.
"I was just on my way to help Nya, Wu and Allison restore the Bounty, care to join? Guess you can say it's all hands on deck?" Garmadon offered which Lloyd had to refuse for now.
"Sorry dad, the guys and I are going fishing, team building exercise!" Lloyd lied while pretending he was holding a rod which Garmadon believed since it sounded true to him.
"Glad to hear the teams back together, please tell Spike the next time you see him to come over, Allison is still needing help to master her own powers." Garmadon requested just he was about to leave before Lloyd came up to him to ask something.
"Dad? Uh.. our Elemental Powers, are there others out there with powers like us?" Lloyd asked which made Garmadon a bit suspicious hearing that.
"Why would you ask that?" Garmadon questioned finding it a bit off for him to ask that.
"No reason, it's just on my mind." Lloyd replied while pretending to think about it, but as Garmadon looked in his room, he saw a familiar noodle box that had a symbol of someone he knew all too well..
"Well, see ya! Early bird catches the worm!" Lloyd said as he took a bag of his stuff and began to leave while Garmadon looked back at the box, and realized just who could've given him that idea.
"Chen!" Garmadon said with an upset tone as he had an idea on what he was trying to do..
At midnight that night, Spike and the others all met up together with their own supplies, each wearing different suits they had worn previously, Spike wore the suit he had gotten from the Temple of Light with the others, and despite the heavy fog around the area, with the sound of boat horns being heard, they could see dozens of other people that looked pretty strange, likely being the other people who were invited just like them.
"Ugh, I told you we shouldn't have warn them!" Kai said with frustration while they took off their masks seeing that the other people here were waiting around just like them.
"The Tournament of Elements. You think all of them have powers like us?" Kai questioned thinking this could be possible.
"If they were asked to come here like us, it's very likely." Spike replied while crossing his arms, feeling unmotorable about this whole thing.
"When I asked my dad about that, he got really suspicious, like there's something he's keeping from me." Lloyd explained to the others who were curious about that too.
"The Fortune Cookies said, tell no one or suffer the consequences." Cole reminded which Lloyd easily brushed off.
"Relax, we're cool." Lloyd assured while they looked to the end of the dock ahead of them.
And they soon saw a large boat was coming up to them with room large enough for all of them to get on, as it stopped right at the dock, two familiar looking thugs placed a plank down to let a strangely dressed figure who looked to have dark powers of his own, walk up to the other masters who were all ready to get going.
"We don't know yet if it's a trap, wherever they take us, we have to stick together." Lloyd advised which the others understood while they looked ahead of them.
"Watch your step, madam." The figure advised just as the woman looked back at them, and the moment he saw her, Kai immediately felt something the moment he saw her, and sighed with a smile which Lloyd was able to notice.
"We can't let anything distract us, remember?" Lloyd reminded which shook him out of his thoughts again.
"Uh.. uh yeah. Whatever you say." Kai replied while Spike shook his head seeing this.
"Oh boy, here we go again." Spike whispered to himself as he and the others were about to get on with the others.
"Master Jay, Master Chen will be charmed to see you've accepted his offer. A Master of Spinjitzu should fair favorably in his tournament. " The figure said to Jay who felt uncomfortable being around him.
"Hey, we're not here to fight, we're here to save a friend!" Jay replied while the figure knew he was hiding something in his bag.
"Don't be so petty Master Jay, everyone here has something to fight for." He said as he reached in his bag and pulled out a pair of nunchucks he secretly tried bringing with him.
"Chopsticks.. I'm a big eater.. heh..." Jay said nervously which he didn't believe, and he only threw the nunchucks into the water to show they won't mess around if he breaks a rule like that, and Jay gulped nervously as he proceeded to get onto the ship himself.
"Ah, Master Spike. The only talking Dragon in Ninjago, and the Master of Crystal, with a competitor like you, you may just last long enough to see the tournament to the end." The figure said to Spike who glared at him upon seeing how strange he looks.
"Don't get any funny ideas with me or my friends." Spike warned as he simply moved past him with the others just before Lloyd was gonna get on too.
"Lloyd! Wait! If you get on that boat, you may never return!" Garmadon warned which shocked Lloyd seeing he followed him here.
"What are you doing here dad?" Lloyd asked with shock as he came up to try and stop him.
"Master Chen is a dangerous man, who should never be trusted! Whatever he told you, do not believe him!" Garmadon warned while the figure looked back at him and instantly recognized who he was.
"Lord Garmadon, it's been a while. But it's Sensei now, correct?" He asked mockingly while Garmadon recognized him too.
"Clouse. I see Master Chen still has you running his errands. " Garmadon countered before Lloyd turned to him seeing just how important this is.
"I have to go dad, this is about Zane, it's about family. If we're ever gonna be whole again, I have to get on that ship!" Lloyd argued again just as Clouse was ready to leave, either with or without him.
"Last call, are you in, or out?" Clouse asked one more time which made Lloyd turn around to get on the ship, but Garmadon didn't want to risk losing him or the others.
"I can't stop you, but I can join you!" Garmadon declared as he was about to get on before Clouse tried to stop him.
"Sorry, no more.. room on the ship." Clouse lied as the thugs tried pulling the plank away which gave Garmadon an idea on how to join in.
"No room?" Garmadon asked again before he suddenly jumped on the plank which hit one of the thugs in the face and knocked him off balance, and as Garmadon flipped onto the ship, he kicked the thug off of the ship which to prove him wrong.
"Hmm, I stand corrected, there's room now." Clouse said with a smirk while Garmadon went up to the others.
"Don't worry, I'm not here to compete, only to look out for my interests." Garmadon said as Clouse started walking around the ship as it began to move.
"Let's ship out!" Clouse announced which made the boat begin to slowly set sail for a place far beyond Ninjago, and Spike and the others braced themselves as they were heading into parts unknown once again.
As the moon shone down over the sea at night, Spike and the others took their time to see what these other masters can do, and they really did have powers of their own, consisting of many different things that showed just how much these masters can do, leaving Spike and everyone else amazed as they saw they really weren't the only Elemental Masters around here.
"You know him, you said his name is Clouse." Lloyd said as they saw Clouse walking by with some groups who all had strange snake tattoos on their bodies which was extremely strange.
"Don't be fooled by his attire, He is Master of Dark Arts, and Chen's number two." Garmadon warned while staying next to them for protection.
"Huh, I thought Chen's number two was an Egg Role and Fried Rice?" Cole joked while Kai was still confused on why they haven't heard about these guys before.
"Why haven't you or Wu told us there were others with powers like us?" Kai questioned while looking at Garmadon again.
"Because there are some things we don't want you to know, you were lead to believe you you are special. Yet you never questioned where your powers came from." Garmadon explained which Jay found confusing still.
"Uh, are you saying I'm not special?" Jay asked with worry hearing that.
"Everyone on this ship is a descendant of an Elemental Master." Garmadon explained again while they looked around the ship that was still sailing through the foggy sea.
"Elemental Master? Who were they?" Lloyd questioned again.
"They were the First Spinjitzu Masters Guardians, each endowed with an Elemental Power that's been passed through generations." Garmadon explained while he looked at the one who was lifting things with his mind that was almost like Allison's own powers in a way.
"If that's true, then so is my sister Nya, but she can't do what I can." Kai suggested which could be a possibility too.
"Can't she? Powers lie within each of you, and only need to be awoken, the fighters here so no master, and have managed to unlock their own True Potential." Garmadon explained while Spike thought of something that could be important.
"Wait.. if I'm the Master of Crystal, does that mean there was a previous Master that had powers like me? I got them from the Temple of Light sure, but if I'm a descendant of another Elemental Master.. who could it be?" Spike questioned finding that the most concerning to him.
"These powers have been passed through generations Spike, if you have the power of Crystal, then it's likely someone had it before you, even a relative perhaps. You don't even know who your birth parents were, so who's to say one of them didn't have powers like you?" Garmadon asked again which shocked Spike as that could be very possible.
"But.. how could that.. even be possible? We never even knew how my egg ended up alone before it was found." Spike asked again while looking at him.
"Like I said, perhaps there are secrets that are best left kept, and if one of them is because you were a descendant of an Elemental Master, who had the powers of Crystal like you, I can only imagine what else there is we don't know." Garmadon replied which made Spike try thinking over this as he never considered it..
"Look around you all, see the other Masters who've found their own potential. For instance, that pale man over there is a distant relative to the Master of Light, watch closely, and you'll see how he he stayed hidden all these years." Garmadon instructed as they saw a man with no face in some clothing and sunglasses, vanishing before them which amazed them all just as someone zoomed past them at fast speeds.
"Then there's Griffin Turner. Grandson to the Master of Speed." Garmadon introduced as they saw Turner speed around the whole ship without any effort at all.
"Haha! You can't lay a hand on me, I'm faster then fast!" Turner said confidently as he sped across the ship before stopping on top of a higher ledge while looking proud of himself.
"Swifter then swift!" Turner said with a smile while Spike laughed seeing how fast he moves.
"I'd definitely pay for a race between him and Rainbow Dash for sure!" Spike said with a smile seeing how fast he was able to go.
"Come on Spike, the Master of Speed? That's not an Element." Jay complained while they kept walking around the ship.
"So asks the Master of Lightning." Garmadon joked which everyone laughed at once they heard it.
"Oooh snap! He got you there Jay!" Cole laughed while they kept walking around the place, and Kai soon saw that girl in the orange cloak again which made him curious about her own power.
"Then who's she?" Kai asked with a smile while looking at her.
"I don't know, some of these people I haven't seen before. But they will all be gunning for you in the Tournament. You are Ninja, you serve with honor. And here, that means very little." Garmadon instructed again just as they saw a large guy with metal gauntlets and a helmet march up to the woman and tap her shoulder before he grabbed her arm and tried taking her cloak.
"Well, maybe honor means something to me!" Kai said with anger while he marched up to him to make him stop this before the woman saw he was coming up to stop them.
"It's okay, I can handle myself." The woman assured while the large man towered over Kai with a threatening look.
"This none of his business! Karlof cold! Karlof just wants her cloak!" Karlof said as he clutched his fists which Kai found funny seeing this.
"You look like you got enough with those mittens, why not leave the gal alone?" Kai countered which surprised the woman, but made Karlof more upset seeing he won't back down.
"These not mittens! These crush Ninja!" Karlof threatened while they were getting in their faces.
"Huh, I'd like to see you try." Kai countered just as Garmadon went in to try and stop this from getting worse.
"Save it for the Tournament, Kai. " Garmadon warned while Karlof was raising his fist at Kai.
"Don't think Karlof afraid of you." Karlof threatened which Kai smirked at once again.
"You don't think much at all, do you?" Kai mocked again which made Karlof grab him by the neck and begin lifting him into the air.
"Feel free to jump in when you feel like it guys!" Kai shouted to the others who were about to try and stop this from getting worse.
"You say Karlof is not smart?!" Karlof asked with anger while Spike and the others were marching up to him seeing this.
"I'd say Karlof is plenty smart not to start something he can't finish!" Lloyd warned which only made Karlof punch Kai far away to the wall in response to mock them.
"Oops, guess Karlof, not smart." Karlof mocked again which Spike growled at.
"Alright meat head, you asked for it!" Spike shouted as he was a bout to shoot a Crystal blast at him before Garmadon put a hand in front of him to stop it.
"Spike, don't. Kai started this, so let him finish it." Garmadon advised which made the others back off as Kai was left to face him by himself.
Kai got back up and got into a fighting pose as he stood against Karlof who was ready to fight him too, and Kai soon lit his hands on fire and got ready to teach him a lesson.
"Fire!" Kai screamed as he began shooting multiple blasts at Karlof who easily deflected them with his Metal Fists, he then smashed his fists together which turned his body into Metal to show off his power which caught Kai off guard. Karlof then charged at Kai and smashed his fists on the ground which Kai barely avoided before Karlof suddenly moved towards him and threw him to the wall while Spike and the others watched, hoping he could beat Karlof.
Karlof then punched Kai up to a higher platform to another part of the ship, and Kai quickly recovered and rolled out of the way before Karlof smashed his fists on him again just as he was brought to the ledge. And Kai made a taunt which made Karlof try to lunge at him again, but it resulted in him falling off it which made Kai laugh thinking he won as he was about to leave.
But Karlof's fist suddenly broke through the ground he was on and grabbed his leg which made Kai scream as he was dragged down to another part of the ship below, and Kai quickly broke free by rapidly punching him in the chest before kicking him to the railings nearby to give him some time.
Kai then lit his fists on fire and began punching Karlof even harder to the point he punched him onto the moving wheel that was moving the ship, and he soon jumped on it and began striking at him again as they were trying to keep their balance on a moving platform. They then jumped in the air and punched at eachother's fists before Karlof got the advantage and punched him to the ground. And just before he was about to finish Kai off, Clouse finally came in to stop them after seeing the commotion they were causing.
"Enough!" Clouse shouted to both of them just as the sun was starting to rise over the horizon, and it finally made Karlof back off and leave him alone while he was still trying to recover.
"I'm sorry if I was cold to you earlier." The woman apologized as she walked up to him and offered him a hand up, which Kai gladly took. But as he did, a small part of his power was seemingly absorbed into her when he didn't notice it. And Kai smiled nervously as the woman started to turn around to see the island as they were finally arriving to it.
"We're here, welcome, to Chen's Island." Clouse announced as Spike and the others all went to the ledge to see the view, and they could see an enormous island in the distance which is where the Tournament was being held at. But as the other masters went to see the sight, Clouse went back and took out a radio to get in contact with his master.
"Master Chen, Garmadon has returned, he says he'll be looking out for his.. interests.." Clouse informed as we cut to the room that Chen was in, while his face wasn't shown yet, he was currently sitting on his own throne within a large room.
"Interesting. You worry too much Clouse, everything will work out, just wait and see." Chen assured before he turned the thing off, leaving Clouse to just do his job while everyone else was waiting for their arrival.
"I swore to never come back here.." Garmadon said with an upset look seeing this island once again.
"You know, you should never swear, it's a sign of weak verbal skills." Jay advised which Spike agreed with.
"I'd listen to him if I were you." Spike replied with a shrug as Lloyd looked at the island ahead, and hoped they could find their friend.
"If Zane's on that island, we'll find him. We have to." Lloyd declared as the camera begins zooming into the island far ahead of them. And as it moves into it, it soon stops at what looks like a dungeon underneath the island, and Chen was seen walking up to the cell door, looking at a certain prisoner he was holding captive.
"I hold all the cards!" Chen said mockingly before he began laughing like a maniac as he was walking away, and as the camera moves into the cell... the prisoner was revealed to be none other then Zane who was completely made of metal now, who had opened his eyes upon hearing it, showing that he really was alive..
Author's Note
Thanks for reading this everyone! So we're now onto Season 4 finally! I hope I did well with this set up given that this Tournament will be one of the Ninja's most interesting adventure yet. I know some people wanted Allison to come along with them for this, but I couldn't really find ways to have her be apart of this considering that she still can barely use her powers, and doesn't know Spinjitzu yet, and she likely wouldn't have done much given she's still learning things on her own.
But I'll try having her sneak into the island with Nya and Darreth later on, I'm just wanting to have her developing her own powers feel earned and not forced or rushed. But I hope Spike being in this Tournament will be interesting for you all. I'm thinking that in Versus, the best opponent for him will be Mr Pale, because even if he can turn invisible, I'm sure Spike could find ways to work around that to beat him, I don't want it to make him feel like he's just here for the sake of it.
But I hope that this start is interesting so far, thanks so much for reading this, and have a good day!
