Today our heroes are following the road to Mauville City which currently has them going through the forest.

“How much longer until we reach Mauville City?” Aqua asked.

“Not long, a few more days at the most,” Turquoise said.

“That long, but we left Slateport city two days ago,” Aqua whined.

“Well going places on foot takes time, and besides it’s more fun to see things rather than rush,” Turquoise said. The girls then decided to stop for lunch since they had been walking for hours now.

“Come on out everyone, “All three of them said as they called out their Pokémon.

“Hey Turquoise want to have a battle while we wait for Fluttershy to finish our food?” Aqua asked.

“I don’t see why not,” Turquoise said.

“In that case, Mudkip, are you ready to go?” Aqua asked with Mudkip nodding yes.

“In that case go Sprigatito, “Turquoise said as she called for Sprigatito.

“Mudkip use water gun. Mudkip started with water gun which was heading for Sprigatito fast

“Dodge and use Scratch. Sprigatito leaped out of the way before lunging at Mudkip with her claws out.

“Use Rock smash. Mudkip’s fin glowed orange before she slammed Sprigatito with it and sent her flying back to Turquoise’s side of the battlefield.

“Not bad, you managed to launch a good counterattack,” Turquoise said.

“I learned it from you,” Aqua said.

“But let’s see you handle this, Sprigatito use Bite. Sprigatito lunged at Mudkip again this time with a set of fangs in front of her. Suddenly Mudkip pulled up a rock and then used her tail to throw it and nail Sprigatito for some more damage.

“Was that a new move?” Aqua asked.

“Sure was, that was Rock Throw,” Turquoise said.

“Awesome,” Aqua said.

“Now I'm getting serious, Sprigatito use Magical leaf. Sprigatito unleashed a magical leaf which was heading straight for Mudkip.

“Mudkip use Rock throw. Mudkip threw another rock at the leaves, but the leaves maneuvered around it which resulted in both moves landing and while Sprigatito took minor damage Mudkip took a lot but miraculously survived enough to gain more experience from it. Suddenly Sprigatito was moving fast which Turquoise recognized as a quick attack.

“I admit you did quite well but now let’s end this, Sprigatito use Quick Attack. Sprigatito rushed at Mudkip hoping to deliver the final blow. Suddenly Mudkip created a barrier which stopped the attack.

“Mudkip learned Protect?” Turquoise said.

“I believe so, “Aqua said. Suddenly Fluttershy got their attention.

“Alright you two, the food is ready, so let’s call it a draw, “Fluttershy said.

“Finally, that battle must have worked up an appetite for Mudkip, “Aqua said.

“Us too,” Turquoise said. The girls began eating while talking among themselves.

“So Turquoise shall we have another battle? I noticed Mudkip got stronger whenever she nailed your Sprigatito, “Aqua asked.

“That has to do with the difference in levels,” Fluttershy explained. “Turquoise’s Sprigatito was at a higher level than your Mudkip, so each time she landed a successful attack, she gained experience which allowed her to learn new moves,

“Sweet, so If my Zigzagoon battled Turquoise’s Espeon, do you think he will gain a metric ton of experience from it? “Aqua asked.

“Whoa slow down Aqua, you can’t rush a Pokémon’s growth like that, True strength comes from many days of practice and many battles, if you go too fast, your Pokémon will start to become disobedient and view you as too weak and incompetent for them,” Turquoise said.

“And how do you know that?” Aqua asked.

“From my dad, He told me how his Rockruff started to become disobedient when it evolved into Lycanroc and how it was because they rushed things by challenging a whole army of trainers at once,” Turquoise said.

“What happened to Lycanroc?” Fluttershy asked.

“Like most trainers in this situation, both he and dad had to overcome a major event to regain their bond, “Turquoise said.

“And what event was it they had to face?” Aqua asked.

“Lycanroc became so overconfident he tried to challenge Mewtwo itself,
Naturally like a lot of challengers, he lost and was severely injured. Dad took care of him and once he was better Lycanroc realized he was not strong enough to win on his own,” Turquoise said.

“Your dad actually met the legendary Mewtwo?” Fluttershy asked in surprise.

“He did,” Turquoise said. The girls decided to pack up and continue onward to their destination. As they were walking, Turquoise continued the story. “As I was saying, the battle was intense. Dad's Lycanroc refused to stay down no matter how many times Mewtwo kept beating him. Luckily Mewtwo felt merciful and agreed to spare Lycanroc but in exchange Lycanroc was not allowed to challenge them again until he and dad became stronger, to accomplish this they went on a training journey.

“So where is your dad now?” Aqua asked.

“I have no clue,” Turquoise said as they kept walking.

A few days later they arrived at Mauville City which reminded Aqua of a mall rather than a city.

“Are you sure this is the place? because this looks like a mall, “Aqua asked. Turquoise checked the Pokenav and gave her verdict.

“No this is the right place,” Turquoise said.

“That aside, let's find the Pokémon center and rest,” Fluttershy said. The girls went to the courtyard area which was the only part of Mauville city that was outside.

“So, what’s the plan for this gym?” Aqua asked.

“From what I gathered, the Mauville gym is an electric-type Gym so I'm going with my Grovyle and Sprigatio for this one,” Turquoise said.

“Good choices since Grass has some resistance to electricity,” Fluttershy said. After asking where the gym was the girls left for it and after knocking on the door it fell forward like a platform which the girls stepped on.

“Well, this is a unique way to greet us, “Turquoise said. Suddenly some railing popped up and the platform began to move. The girls felt like they were on a rollercoaster and as they were approaching the end a robot Raikou appeared and then roared at them. Aqua was about to call out Mudkip until turquoise stopped her. “Wait, I think it’s just a robot. Suddenly an old man with white hair came out to greet them.

“Quite clever of you to notice that young lady,” The man said.

“I’m guessing you are the gym leader?” Turquoise asked.

“You got it, the name is Wattson, and I am eager to see what you can do in battle,” Wattson said before laughing playfully.

“Quite an eccentric old man isn’t he,” Aqua said.

“Very eccentric,” Fluttershy said. The girls followed Wattson to the battlefield where his assistant who was the acting ref for this gym was waiting. Turquoise took her position and so did Wattson.

“The battle between Wattson the gym leader and Turquoise the challenger will now begin, each side will use three Pokémon and the battle will end when all three of one side’s Pokémon are unable to battle, finally, only the challenger will be allowed to substitute Pokémon,” Watt said with both side in agreement. “Let the battle begin.

“Go Magnemite,” Wattson said as he called out his Magnemite.

“Go Espeon,” Turquoise said as she called out Espeon.

“Looks like Turquoise is starting off strong,” Aqua said.

“Most likely because Magnemite is part steel-type and steel has resistance against grass-type moves, “Fluttershy said.

“Magnetmite use Spark. Magnetmite began to build up electricity with its magnets and then sent that electricity flying towards Espeon.

“Espeon use swift. Espeon retaliated with swift which pushed against the spark.

“Is that the best you got, you need to do better than that in order to beat my,” Wattson said before stopping after seeing how easily swift overpowered spark and nailed Magnemite for some critical damage.

“Espeon and I have been traveling for a long time, so our bond is strong, “Turquoise said. Before she could think she won it was revealed Magnetmite was still in the battle. “But how? That was a critical hit.

“What's the matter? Did my Magnetmite’s Sturdy ability take you by surprise?” Wattson asked.

“I should have known,” Turquoise said.

“Now it's our turn, Magnemite use Thunderwave. Magnetmite unleashed waves of electricity. Wattson was expecting Turquoise to dodge it but noticed she did not give such a command. Espeon already knew what Turquoise was thinking and stood still as the ThunderWave bounced off of her and onto Magnetmite. The move was ineffective on Magnetmite which now left both sides at a stalemate.

“Espeon use psybeam. Espeon fired her psybeam which went in a straight line towards Magnetmite.

“Magnetmite use Gyro Ball. Magnetmite spun in place really fast intending to use Psybeam against Espeon but instead got nailed by it and fainted.

“Magnetmite is unable to battle, Espeon is the winner,” Watt said while pointing his right flag at Turquoise.

“What just happened?” Aqua asked.

“You see Aqua, Wattson planned to use gyro ball as a shield to boomerang psybeam back at Espeon but the beam was able to move faster than the rotation thus striking in Magnetmite’s blind spot,” Fluttershy explained.

“Return Magnetmite, “Wattson said as he recalled Magnetmite. “You did good now rest, I must say you are quite strong.

“Thanks, “Turquoise said.

“But can you handle my next Pokémon?” Wattson asked.

“Bring it,” Turquoise said.

“Go Voltorb, “Wattson said as he called out his Voltorb.

“Return Espeon,” Turquoise said as she recalled Espeon.

“What is she doing? Espeon is not even tired,” Aqua asked.

“Turquoise is saving Espeon for the final match, plus voltorb is a pure electric type so her two other choices should have a fair fight now,” Fluttershy said before both of them resumed watching the battle.

“Go Sprigatito,” Turquoise said as she called out her Sprigatito.

“Well, that is a Pokémon I have never seen before,” Wattson said quite intrigued.

Wait till you see her in action,” Turquoise said.

“Voltorb use metal sound. Voltorb began to generate a really loud noise that filled the whole gym. It sounded like metal scraping against metal, and it really affected Sprigatito. “Now use Charge Beam. voltorb took advantage of Sprigatito’s disoriented state and unleashed a beam of electricity which managed to nail Sprigatito for some light damage. Sprigatito was not gonna go down that easily and as soon as she got up she looked ready to go.

“Sprigatito use magical leaf. Sprigatio unleashed magical leaf which was heading straight for Voltorb.

“Dodge that. Voltorb tried to roll out of the way but the magical leaf automatically changed direction and then nailed it for some serious damage.

“Now use quick attack. Sprigatito moved lightning fast and head butted Voltorb with enough force to send it flying and hit the wall behind Wattson before fainting.

“Voltorb is unable to battle, Sprigatito is the winner,” Watt said while pointing his right flag at Turquoise.

“You did it, you won,” Turquoise said with Sprigatito nodding in agreement before glowing.

“Looks like Sprigatito is evolving,” Fluttershy said. Sprigatito began to grow bigger before standing on two legs as her body began to morph. Once the flash died down a green medium-sized anthropomorphic cat with a grass-like poncho, a darker-shade of green in certain places including the leaf marking on her face and a pink flower bud stood where Sprigatito once did. Turquoise pulled out her pokedex for more info.

“Floragoto, The Grass Cat Pokemon and the evolved form of Sprigatito, The hardness of Floragato's fur depends on the Pokémon's mood. When Floragato is prepared to battle, its fur becomes pointed and needle sharp,” The pokedex said.

“So cool,” Turquoise said.

“It’s always good to see a pokemon evolve in the middle of a battle, but can you handle my final pokemon?” Wattson asked.

“I’m o for 2 right now so bring it on,” Turquoise said feeling very confident.

“Go Magneton,” Wattson said as he called out his Magneton.

“I will stick with Floragoto,” Turquoise said.

“So be it, magneton use Electric Terrain magneton unleashed a powerful burst of electricity that electrified the whole battlefield.

“What’s happening? “Aqua asked.

“It’s a terrain field, Electric Terrain changes the terrain into electricity which not only powers up electric-type moves but pokemon on the ground can’t fall asleep either, “Fluttershy explained.

“No matter, we got this, Floragoto use magical leaf. Floragoto pulled out her flower bud which was a yoyo and unleashed a powerful magical leaf.

“Magneton use Thunderbolt. Magneton unleashed a thunderbolt which collided with the magical Leaf and not only vaporized it but inflicted a ton of damage to Floragoto. Wattson was sure that finished her but when the dust cleared Floragoto was still standing but barely. Suddenly she was covered in the same green energy Overgrow gives off which was her ability activating.

“All right Floragoto give this one all you got, Use Seed bomb. Floragoto leaped high and unleashed a barrage of seeds that rained down hard on magneton. While they did some decent damage it was not enough.

“Nice try but now it’s our turn. Magneton use Tri attack while floragoto is still airborne. Magneton unleashed a triangle that nailed Floragoto and caused her to faint.

“Floragoto is unable to battle, Magneton is the winner, “Watt said while pointing his left flag at Wattson.

“Return Floragoto,” Turquoise said as she recalled Floragoto. “You did great, now rest up. Turquoise wasted no time with her next choice. “Go Grovyle. Grovyle landed on the field and was ready for battle. “Grovyle use quick attack. Grovyle charged at Magneton and nailed it for some light damage.

“Not bad but we are not out yet, magneton use Thunderbolt. Magneton unleashed a thunderbolt but this time Turquoise was ready.

“Use Detect. Grovyle skillfully dodged the thunderbolt which was what Wattson was expecting.

“I was expecting that now it’s time for us to strike, magneton use gyro ball. Magneton spun like a disk and struck at Grovyle who was trying to push it back. Suddenly Grovyle was covered in dark energy which was used to push back and damage Magneton.

“No way, Grovyle just learned Assurance,” Fluttershy said. Magneton tried to get back up but it fainted before it could.

“Magneton is unable to battle, Grovyle is the winner, which means the winner is Turquoise,” Watt said while pointing his right flag at Turquoise.

“We did it, “Turquoise said excitedly. Wattson recalled his magneton before approaching Turquoise.

“Turquoise, that was a very good battle with many surprises and as proof of your victory here at the Mauville City Gym I present you with the Dynamo Badge, “Wattson said before giving Turquoise a circular badge that was gold and silver with two lines sticking out.

“Thank you,” Turquoise said while putting the badge in her badge case.

“So have you decided where to go next?” Wattson asked.

“Not yet,” Turquoise said.

“In that case if you're looking for the next gym, Then I recommend Lavaridge Town,” Wattson said. Turquoise looked it up and gave her verdict.

“Looks like a nice place to relax,” Turquoise said.

“Meaning?” Aqua asked.

“Our next stop is Lavaridge Town, “Turquoise declared.

“But first the Pokémon center, “Fluttershy said. The girls decided to call it a day. With three badges under Turquoise’s belt and her team a bit stronger than before things were now looking up. What excitement awaits our heroes next, Stay tuned. As the journey continues.
