Today our heroes are crossing a desert on the road to Lavaridge Town. The girls looked tired from heat exhaustion.

“Do we have any water left?” Aqua asked feeling tired.

“We drank it all,” Fluttershy said as the canteen unleashed nothing.

“We can’t keep going like this,” Turquoise said.

“Wait I see something ahead,” Aqua said

“What is it?” Fluttershy said before the three of them approached a house. Suddenly an old lady greeted them.

“Welcome travelers,” The old lady said joyfully. She invited the girls inside and poured them some water which they drank quickly.

“Thank you,” All three of them said in unison.

“So where are you girls off to?” A man who was revealed to be the old lady’s son asked.

“To Lavaridge Town to find the next gym or Contest,” Aqua said.

“I see, well if it's a contest you're looking for, then you should stop by Fallarbor Town first since they are having a contest in a few weeks,” A woman who was the man’s wife said.

“Fallarbor Town?” Turquoise asked.

“It’s not that far from Lavaridge Town,” The old lady said.

“Well thanks for the water, and thank you for the suggestion, “Turquoise said as the three of them were about to leave. Suddenly the old lady stopped them.

“Hold it youngsters, I can tell you three are Pokémon trainers,” The old lady said.

“We are,” Aqua said. Suddenly the three of them had glint in their eyes before speaking again.

“I am Grandma Vicky, the matriarch of the family, “Vicky said while posing dramatically.

“And I'm her son, Victor,” The man said before doing the same.

“And I'm his wife Victoria, “Victoria said before the three of them did a really cool pose.

“And together we are the winstraight family, “All three of them shouted.

“So, what do you girls say, want to battle?” Vicky asked.

“Sure,” Turquoise said.

“Great, then it will be three on three,” Vicky said.

“Sounds good to us,” Aqua said. Vicky showed them to the battlefield while also agreeing to act as the judge for now.

“Since we are the home team, I will send my Pokémon out first,” Victor said.

“Find with me,” Fluttershy said.

“The first battle shall now begin, the rules are simple, each side will use one Pokémon with no time limit. it’s Victor for the home team vs Fluttershy for the visitors, begin,” Vicky said.

“Right, here we go, I chose, Linoone,” Victor said as he sent out a creature that looked like a white mongoose with brown spots. Aqua pulled out her pokedex for this one.

“Linoone, The Rushing Pokemon and the evolved form of Zigzagoon, it charges prey at speeds over 60 mph. However, because it can only run straight, it often fails,” The Pokedex said.

“So that’s what Zigzagoon evolves into? Pretty neat,” Aqua said.

“In that case, go Cinderace,” Fluttershy said as she called out Cinderace. “Use Pyro ball. Cinderace kept dribbling a stone with its feet until it formed a fireball which was kicked towards linoone who dodged it in a blink of an eye.

“It dodged that fast?” Aqua asked in disbelief.

“Guess it’s not called the rushing Pokémon for nothing,” Turquoise said.

“Linoone, let's use Thunderbolt. Linoone unleashed a thunderbolt which took Aqua by surprise since she was not expecting Linoone to know that move. As for Cinderace he too instinctively dodged.

“Cinderace use Flame Charge. Cinderace cloaked itself in orange fire as it charged at linoone while gaining speed in the process.

“Use Extreme Speed. Linoone managed to charge at Cinderace faster and push him back.

“Linoone can use Extreme Speed?” Fluttershy asked, quite shocked.

“My linoone was quite the speed demon even while it was still a Zigzagoon,” Victor said before resuming the battle. “But back to the battle, Linoone use Slash. Linoone charged at Cinderace with long claws.

“Dodge and use Double kick. Cinderace waited for the right moment and then kicked Linoone into the air before leaping and bringing his foot down on his back hard which sent him hurtling towards the ground hard. Once the dust settled Linoone was revealed to have fainted.

Linoone is unable to battle, Cinderace is the winner, that’s one win for the visitors,” Vicky said while pointing her right arm at Fluttershy. Victor recalled linoone before returning to the bench.

“You did your best honey,” Victoria said.

“I know,” Victor said before sitting down. Fluttershy also returned to the bench of their side.

“Go get them Aqua,” Fluttershy said.

“You know I will, “Aqua said as she took her side of the battlefield.

“You got this dear,” Victor said as Victoria stood up and walked towards the battlefield.

“The second battle, Victoria and Aqua, Let the match begin,” Vicky said. Before Aqua called her Pokémon out first.

“Mudkip, I chose you,” Aqua said as she called out her Mudkip.

“Go, Roserade,” Victoria said as she called out her Roserade. Aqua pulled out her Pokedex for info on it.

“Roserade, The Bouquet Pokemon, With the movements of a dancer, it strikes with whips that are densely lined with poison thorns,” The pokedex said.

“Roserade, let's start with Solar Beam. Roserade began charging up energy from its flower-like hands and the buildup was a lot faster than normal. “Now fire. Roserade unleashed Solar Beam quicker than normal.

“How can that be? Solar Beam takes more time than that to charge up,” Turquoise asked. Suddenly Fluttershy had the answer.

“The sun, it’s this intense sunlight, it mimics the effect of Sunny day, so Roserade does not require time to power up,” Fluttershy said.

“Mudkip use protect. Mudkip created a barrier that managed to block the solar beam. “Now use Rock Throw. Mudkip dug up a big rock and threw it at Roserade.

“Roserade use magical leaf. Roserade fired off Magical Leaf. Both moves hit and while Mudkip took a lot of damage it held on. Suddenly she began to glow.

“Looks like Mudkip is evolving,” Fluttershy said. Mudkip began to grow bigger before standing up and changing shape. Once the light died down a medium-sized anthropomorphic fish creature stood where Mudkip was. Aqua pulled out her Pokedex for more.

“Marshtomp, The Mudfish Pokémon and the evolved form of Mudkip, It is at its best when on muddy ground that offers poor footing. It quickly overwhelms opponents that are bogged down and unable to move.

“No matter, we still got this, Roserade use poison sting. Roserade fired poison needles from its flowers which were heading for Marshtomp.

“Marshtomp use Mud shot. Marshtomp fired a stream of mud which canceled out the poison sting and nail Roserade for some decent damage.

“Not bad but it’s time to end this, Roserade use Magical Leaf. Roserade fired another Magical leaf but this time Aqua was ready.

“Marshtomp use Water Gun. Marshtomp fired her Water Gun which the magical leaf went around and then nailed Marshtomp for the final blow.

“Marshtomp is unable to battle, Roserade is the winner, that’s one point for the home team which now has both sides tied at one a piece,” Vicky said.

“Return Marshtomp,” Aqua said before returning to the bench in defeat.

“I finally did it, I won,” Victoria said cheerfully.

“You're up next Turquoise, win this one for us,” Fluttershy said.

“Right,” Turquoise said as she approached the battlefield where Vicky was waiting, and Victor was now the ref.

“I, Grandma Winstraight, Matriarch of the Winstraight clan, and grandmother to Vito Pokemon champion and Vivi, top Coordinator shall be victorious today,” Vicky said while tying her headband on.

“Quite spirited, But I Turquoise Dusk, winner of two Pokémon leagues and two grand festivals shall not lose, “Turquoise said, equally full of spirit. Little did they know two people were watching them from a distance.

“Looks like grandma found some strong opponents to battle,” A man with green hair said.

“You said it Vito, and seeing mom finally win a battle is also a surprise,” A woman with red hair said.

“Let’s see if grandma still has it, Vivi,” Vito said.

“Let’s begin the match, Go Camerupt,” Vicky said as she sent in a big orange camel-like creature with blue rings and humps that looked like mini volcanoes who shook the ground upon landing. Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex since this was her first time seeing a Camerupt.

“Camerupt, The Eruption Pokemon, it lives in the crater of a volcano. It is well known that the humps on its back erupt every 10 years,” The pokedex said.

“In that case I chose Oshawott,” Turquoise said as she called out Oshawott.

“This is the final battle, whoever wins this one determines the winner, begin, “Victor said.

“Camerupt use Sandstorm. Camerupt suddenly unleashed a powerful nostril gust that whipped up a powerful sandstorm.

“I can’t see anything,” Aqua said as the Sandstrom blew at her and Fluttershy too.

“That is one powerful sandstorm, “Fluttershy said.

“Oshawott use water gun and spin. Oshawott unleashed water gun and used the countershield technique to disperse the sandstorm.

“Impressive, No one has ever dispersed sandstorm like that,” Vicky said.

“Oh, the countershield can do more than that,” Turquoise said.

“We shall see, Camerupt use Eruption. Camerupt unleashed two powerful pillars of fire from it’s humps which then rained down fire from above.

“Oshawott use Focus Energy. Oshawott closed his eyes and listened for the sound of the fire coming down before dodging each one. “Now use Razor Shell. Oshawott drew his scalchop and formed his blade of water before charging at Camerupt.

“Going on the offensive now, not a smart move. Camerupt use Stomping Tantrum. Camerupt began stomping violently which caused the ground to shake as it charged at Oshawott. Oshawott leaped at Camerupt and suddenly appeared a good distance behind it while doing his signature samurai pose. Once the razor shell faded camerupt fell and when the dust cloud around it settled it was revealed to have fainted.

“Camerupt is unable to battle, Oshawott is the winner, which means the visitors win two to one,” Victor said while pointing his right arm at Turquoise. Suddenly Oshawott began to glow which meant it was now his turn to evolve. He began to grow bigger as his shape began to change. Once the light died down a blue medium sized otter-like creature with whiskers and two scalchops, one on each side, stood where Oshawott did with a stoic expression. Turquoise, eager to learn more, pulled out her pokedex.

“Dewott, The Discipline Pokemon and the evolved form of Oshawott, it's said that people modeled swordplay after the way Dewott's movements flow like water while it's wielding its two scalchops,” The pokedex said.

“Return Camerupt,” Vicky said as she recalled Camerupt and approached the girls. “I must say you three are quite strong.

“You three were not too bad yourselves,” Fluttershy said.

“But let me tell you my grandkids, Vito and Vivi won’t be so easy to beat, “Vicky said. The two that were watching from afar suddenly had looks of shock on their faces.

“Grandma is at it again,” Vito said.

“That’s our grandma for you, she never loses faith in us,” Vivi said.

“So shall we go join them?” Vito asked.

“Not yet, I’m heading to Fallarbor Town, I have an interest in the one called Turquoise,” Vivi said before leaving.

“Wait for me sis,” Vito said as he chased after her. Back with the girls after healing their Pokémon they decided to continue on the road.

“Well Vicky, Victor, and Victoria, those were some good battles and now we must be on our way,” Turquoise said.

“To Lavaridge Town?” Vicky asked.

“Actually, we are making a slight change of plans, we are now heading to Fallarbor Town, you said there was a contest coming up there, “Turquoise said.

“Well, we wish you girls the best of luck, but first a proper send off, “Vicky said before the three of them donned hardhats as she called out Camerupt. “Camerupt lets send them off with an Eruption. Camerupt suddenly unleashed an even more powerful eruption than it did in the battle which had the girls running. And so Turquoise and Aqua’s teams just got a whole lot stronger with their newly evolved Marshtomp and Dewott. What challenges await our heroes next. Stay tuned. As the journey continues.
