Today was the day of the Verdanturf contest and Turquoise and her Vulpix was doing some last minute practice before it started.

“Vulpix use ice beam. Vulpix unleashed ice beam at full power and was now able to control it “That was perfect, now remember to do it just like that.

“Have you worked out the kinks with ice beam?” Fluttershy asked.

“I believe we have,” Turquoise said.

“I’m sorry but is now a good time to be working on that?” Aqua asked.

“It is if I don’t want the judges to deduct points from our performance,” Turquoise said.

“You see, part of a judge’s score is based on how well pokemon can control their moves,” Fluttershy said.

“Like that’s gonna make much of a difference,” Someone said. Suddenly the voice was revealed to be Harley.

“Aren't you that creepy guy Turquoise beat back in Foothill town?” Aqua asked which really struck a nerve with Harley.

“That was just a fluke, but now we are on my stage and your friend will not beat me this time,” Harley said boastfully. Before the exchange could continue an announcement played.

“Will all registered coordinators please report backstage, the contest will begin in ten minutes, “the announcement said.

“Well see you in the second round, or not, “Harley said as he left while laughing. Ten minutes later all the coordinators including Turquoise and Harley were ready and just waiting for the opening intro.

“Welcome everyone to the Verdanturf pokemon contest, i am your host Vivian, and here are today’s panal of judges, First up, the head of the pokemon activities committee Mr.Contesta, “Vivian said while everyone focused on him.

“A pleasure to be here once again, “Contesta said.

“Next up, the head of the Pokemon Fanclub, Mr. Sukizo,” Vivian said.

“Remarkable,” Sukizo said.

“And finally, Verdanturf town,s own nurse joy, “Vivian said.

“I look forward to seeing what our coordinators have in store for us today,” Nurse Joy said.

“And now let the contest begin, “Vivian said. Many coordinators went up one by one and currently the bar was set at 24.3. Soon it was Harley's turn. And now our next coordinator is an old face we have not seen in quite some time, give it up for Harley. Harley walked onto the stage dressed as normal.

“Go Cacturne, " Harley said as he threw his pokeball which popped open and unleashed a bunch of black smoke which cacturned came out of.

“What is that thing? “Aqua asked as she pulled out her pokedex.

“Cacturne, The Scarecrow pokemon, Packs of them follow travelers through the desert until the travelers can no longer move,” Aqua’s pokedex said.

“Let’s go with a classic, cacturne use Bullet seed. Cacturne began running around the stage while shooting at the ground. From above the seeds were creating a skull and crossbones. The judges gave him a score of 26.4 which was slightly higher than the others. More coordinators went up and did not come close to harley’s score until it was Turquoise’s turn.

“And now for our last coordinator, give it up for Turquoise, “Vivian said as turquoise came out.

“Vulpix, Let’s dazzle them,” Turquoise said before throwing her pokeball which popped open and unleashed a bunch of snowflakes which had Vulpix somersaulting in the center of them before landing on the stage with them coming down around him. “Let’s start with ice beam while spinning. Vulpix leaped into the air before using ice beam on the stage while rotating which created a hollow sphere of ice with an opening on the top which got the crowd curious as to what they will do next. “Now use MoonBlast. Vulpix unleashed a blast of pink energy that went inside the sphere which caused the ice to sparkle and shine. “Now wrap this up with icy wind. Vulpix used icy wind to slow his fall while also sealing the top of the sphere as he landed on it as it shined from the refractive properties of the ice. The judges loved it so much they gave her a perfect 30.

“And Turquoise wraps this round up with a perfect 30, Judges care to tell the crowd what you thought about that performance.

“The way Turquoise and Vulpix used the refractive properties of the ice in combination with that Moonblast to create a dazzling work of art was amazing, " contesta said.

“Very Remarkable,” Sukizo said.

“It was a great way to demonstrate both the cuteness and power of an Alolan Vulpix, “Nurse Joy said. In the back Harley was not so impressed and down right angry.

“How dare that girl outshine me like that,” Harley said. Turquoise returned backstage very confident in her victory since a perfect 30 was a guaranteed spot in the second round. “You may have beaten me in appeals but i will cream you in the next round.

“Keep telling yourself that,” Turquoise said. Soon vivian appeared on the monitor.

“Sorry for the wait, without further ado, here are the eight coordinators moving on to round two,” Vivian said as eight profile pics appeared with Turquoise in first and Harley in second. The eight pics were shuffled and once the matchups were made the battle round began. Turquoise and harley swept their way through their opponents and made it to the final round. “And now we are down to just two coordinators, on my left is Harley and on my right is Turquoise, five minutes on the clock, Go

“Go, Cacturne, “Harley said as he called out Cacturne.

“Vulpix, let’s dazzle them,” Turquoise said as she called out Vulpix who suddenly caused snow to fall inside the building.

“And Vulpix sets the stage once again with it’s snow warning ability,” Vivian said.

“Do you honestly think a little snow will stop my Cacturne?” Harley asked, not impressed.

“No, that’s just Vulpix’s snow warning, Ability, the real battle starts now, Vulpix use icy wind. Vulpix unleashed icy wind which combined with the falling snow to create a bigger blast.

“Cacturne use spiky shield. Cacturne slammed its arms together before extending its spikes which formed a defensive shield which blocked the attack and cost Turquoise some points.

Turquoise: 90%

“Now use Pin Missile, Cacturne fired a bunch of pins at Vulpix which turquoise was prepared. Fore.

“Use extrasensory on the missiles. Vulpix used Extrasensory to redirect the pin missile back at Cacturne which resulted in harley losing many points.

Harley: 65%

“Why you little, “Harley said as Cacturne got back up.

“Now Vulpix use ice Beam on the field. Vulpix unleashed Ice beam on the stage which not only covered it in a thick sheet of ice but also erected ice pillars around Cacturne.

“Ha, like that will beat us, " Harley said.

“Oh we are not done yet, Vulpix use moon blast. Vulpix unleashed moon blast which started bouncing off the pillars and gained momentum before hitting Cacturne. Once the dust settled Cacturne looked undamaged.

“Surprise, we used Spike shield to nerf your little attempt to finish us,” Harley said as Turquosie’s points went down more.

Turquoise: 70%

“Now it’s our turn, Cacturne use Energy ball. Cacturne fired a ball of green energy and attempted to use Turquoise’s pillars against her.

“Vulpix use Icy wind. Vulpix unleashed icy wind in hopes of slowing the Energy ball down but no such luck as the attack struck Vulpix and inflicted a lot of damage as Turquoise points went down towards the three-minute mark.

Turquoise:50%

“You can’t possibly hope to win, " Harley said boastfully.

“It’s not over yet,” Turquoise said.

“Then lets end this, Cacturne use energy Ball again. Cacturned fired another Energy ball but this time it went straight for Vulpix.

“Vulpix use ice beam. Vulpix fired Ice beam and not only did it overpower cacturne’s Energy ball it also scored a direct hit which resulted in a knockout and the judges hitting their buzzers.

“And that’s all she wrote ladies and gentlemen, the winner of the Verdanturf Ribbon is Turquoise, “Vivian said as Turquoise’s picture appeared on the big screen.

“Return Cacturne,” Harley said as he recalled Cacturne. “Looks like our contest days truly are numbered. Soon everyone gathered for the award ceremony.

“And now mr. contesta will award Turquoise the Verdanturf ribbon,” Vivian said.

“A splendid battle and a splendid performance,” Contesta said as he gave Turquoise the ribbon. Once the contest was declared over Turquoise returned backstage to change. Once she was dressed and ready to get back on the road harley approached them.

“Well Turquoise, I concede to you, this was my last contest,” Harley said.

“Is this because I beat you twice now?” Turquoise asked.

“No, it’s because I am no match for these new talented trainers, including yourself, so I'm retiring from contests,” Harley said.

“Well then I guess all I can say is good luck with the future,” Turquoise said before Harley left.

“Well girls shall we get going too?” Fluttershy asked.

“We will set out tomorrow, right now Vulpix needs to recover from that battle,” Turquoise said. The girls went to the pokemon center for the day and after Vulpix was healed aqua asked turquoise a serious question.

“Listen, I'm not going to force you to do this, but is it time for your Vulpix to evolve now? I mean he beat a strong opponent so he is ready, “ Aqua asked.

“I think he is but that is up to Vulpix, “Turquoise said. She pulled out the Ice stone from her bag and set it in front of her Vulpix. “So Vulpix are you ready because once you evolve there's no going back? Vulpix gave it some thought and then touched the stone which resulted in his body glowing as he began to grow bigger and his tails grew longer before splitting into nine separate tails. Once the flash died down, An Alolan Ninetails now stood where Vulpix was. Turquoise checked her pokedex and saw that icy wind was replaced with Dazzling Gleam.

“Alright girls let's call it a night,” Fluttershy said. The girls turned in for the night after such an eventful contest.

The next day the girls were all packed and ready to set out. They were now in front of the Rusturf Tunnel.

“And you are certain this tunnel leads back to Rustboro City?” Aqua asked.

“According to the Pokenav it does,” Turquoise said. The girls entered and noticed how the inside of the tunnel was man made.

“Do you think they drilled this tunnel?” Aqua asked.

“Not likely, look at the marks,” Turquoise said referring to the pickaxe marks on some of the rock.

“Whoever dug this tunnel must have done so the hard way, “Fluttershy said.

“Now that i remember, the pokenav mentioned how this tunnel was dug by a man who was driven to meet his girlfriend from Rustboro city so much that he slowly chipped away at the rock to dig this tunnel while at the same time a construction crew from Rustboro City also had the same idea but stopped short of hitting each other which left a wall in between them,” Turquoise said.

“So who broke the wall?” Aqua asked.

“Neither side, a traveler passing through, used Rock smash to break it thus completing the Rusturf Tunnel, “Turquoise said as they reached the center of the tunnel where the wall was. They kept going and soon were on the other side which led to route 116 which was on the outskirts of Rustboro City. “See, we made good time.

“You were right, this was faster,” Aqua said.

“Now let’s keep going,” Fluttershy said. The girls kept going and soon made it to Rustboro City. As soon as they got there another familiar face was waiting for them.

“Hey Turquoise, long time no see,” This person said.

“May? What brings you here?” Turquoise asked.

“Just catching up with someone, You?” May asked.

“We are on our way to Petalburg City to face Max,” Turquoise said.

“Is that so? Well, I was going to head back there soon, you three should come with me,” May said.

“Sure, “Turquoise said.

A couple of days later the girls were now back in Petalburg City.

“All right, finally made it, now to challenge Max, “Turquoise said before Aqua stopped her.

“Hold it, before we visit him, there is someone else we must see,” Aqua said.

“Oh and who might that be?” Fluttershy asked.

“My mom of course,” Aqua said.

“Fine,” Turquoise said. The girls arrived at aqua’s house and once her mom answered the door she invited them in.

“So good to see you girls again? Who is your new friend?” Aqua’s mom asked.

“This is Fluttershy, a traveling companion of Turquoise’s,” Aqua said.

“Pleasure to meet you,” Fluttershy said.

“So how is your journey going so far?” Aqua’s Mom asked.

“Pretty good,” Aqua said before showing her mom her team.

“Nice lineup, and I see your Mudkip Evolved all the way into a Swampert, “Aqua’s mom said.

“Well, it was nice seeing you again, but I have a gym leader to beat,” Turquoise said.

“I’m afraid Max is not accepting any more challengers today, but you can challenge him tomorrow,” Aqua’s mom said.

“Very well,” Turquoise said. And so the girls finally reached their destination. What kind of challenge awaits turquoise? Stay tuned, As the journey continues.
