Our heroes finally arrived in Mossdeep City and right now the girls were in front of the gym.

“This is it” Turquoise said before entering the gym. Unfortunately, the inside was empty as if there was no one there. “Where is everyone?

“Maybe the gym is not open yet?” Aqua said.

“Aqua it’s two in the afternoon of course it should be open,” Turquoise said. Suddenly the gym door opened and a woman with blue hair wearing a light blue Chinese-style outfit.

“What are you kids doing here?” The woman asked.

“I’m looking for the gym leader so I can challenge them,” Turquoise said.

“Well they are not here but you may have better luck at the Mossdeep space center,” The woman said.

“Then let’s go there, “Aqua said. Soon the girls left the gym and were now at the famed Mossdeep Space Center. “I always wanted to see this place.

“Is it that famous? “Fluttershy asked.

“It sure is, have you heard of the Solgaleo moon landing?” Turquoise asked.

“I vaguely recall Twilight mentioning it back home, you should hear how she can talk your ear off for hours about space stuff,” Fluttershy said.

“In any case why don’t we go inside,” Turquoise said. The three of them went inside and it was full of many people looking at the displays and stuff. The girls were also looking around and when they got to the star exhibit Turquoise and Fluttershy were surprised by who was there.

“Twilight?” Fluttershy said in surprise.

“Turquoise, Fluttershy, what a surprise to see you two here, “Twilight said.

“We can say the same about you,” Turquoise said.

“I’m sorry but I'm lost,” Aqua said.

“Twilight this is Aqua, a new trainer we are traveling with,” Turquoise said. “Aqua meet Twilight, an old friend of ours.

“Now that we know each other, what brings you to Hoenn?” Fluttershy asked.

“And what’s with the uniform?” Aqua asked, referring to Twilight's shirt which had a violet emblem that looked like grapes and was paired with a purple tie and matching purple shorts.

“I joined Uva Academy in the Paldea Region, and I am here to observe today’s shuttle launch,” Twilight said.

“Guess that explains why the gym was empty,” Aqua said.

“Now my turn to ask what you girls are doing in Hoenn?” Twilight asked.

“I came to challenge the Hoenn league and the Hoenn Grand Festival,” Turquoise said.

“Oh, and how far along are you?” Twilight asked.

“Just got my fifth ribbon a few days ago,” Turquoise said.

“Oh, and I'll bet it was not easy,” Twilight said.

“Actually, it was a total snoozefest since my opponent was supposed to be some big legend when in fact she was less than impressive,” Turquoise said.

“I am with Turquoise on that, even Rarity’s least flashy performances are more exciting in comparison to Jessilina’s little circus act,” Fluttershy said.

“And how much farther are you to the Hoenn League?” Twilight asked.

“I currently have six badges and we came here to earn my seventh, assuming we can find the gym leader,” Turquoise said.

“I believe you mean gym leaders,” A man with blue hair wearing a Chinese-style outfit similar to the woman from earlier said.

“Aren't you the woman from before? “Aqua asked.

“You must have already met my twin sister Liza, I’m Tate, and together we are the mossdeep city gym leaders,” Tate said.

“So who will I be facing?” Turquoise asked.

“Both of us but we will explain how our gym works later, right now the launch will be starting in five minutes,” Tate said. Everyone gathered by the viewing area and less than five minutes later the countdown began for the launch of Deoxys V.

“10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1, blast off,” the man in the command center said over the loudspeaker as the shuttle took off. Everyone was amazed by seeing it get off the ground. Once the shuttle reached 20000 feet the second stage boosters initiated allowing the shuttle to break through the earth’s atmosphere and take off for its destination.

“Out of curiosity, where is the crew going?” Aqua asked.

“Haven't you been keeping up with the news? The Mossdeep space center is putting together a mission to colonize mars and if the mission is successful then humanity has finally taken their next big step towards the stars,” Twilight explained.

“That’s awesome,” Turquoise said. The girls decided to head back to the gym to see if Tate and Liza were back yet but as soon as they exited the Space Center team Supernova was waiting for them.

“All right Dorkettes you know how this goes,” Isabelle said.

“We do, with us kicking your annoying butts, “Turquoise said, ready to go until Twilight stopped her.

“Allow me to take a crack at these freaks,” Twilight said as she called out her Charizard who was not wearing his plating.

“Like your Charizard will do any good against Mightyena and Houndoom,” Chris said. Suddenly Twilight pulled out a black orb that looked like a pokeball but with a gem-shaped piece where the button was.

“You're right, on his own he might not do much, but we learned a couple new tricks since joining uva Academy,” Twilight said as she activated the orb. “Charizard time to show them our power. Twilight threw the orb which caused Charizard to be encased in crystals before its body became all sparkly and crystal-like but what was most noticeable was the dragon-like hat he had on his head.

“What is that?” Aqua asked.

“We are about to see,” Turquoise said.

“Houndoom use Thunder Fang. Houndoom unleashed thunder fang on Charizard but it did not do as much damage as it would normally. “That should have been a powerful hit since Charizard is part flying-type.

“Normally that would be the case, but Charizard is neither Fire or Flying-type right now,,” Twilight said.

“What do you mean? You can’t change a Pokémon’s type like that, you must be cheating, “Isabelle said.

“It’s called Terastalization and it’s legit, “Twilight said. “This technique changes a Pokémon’s type to a single type and right now my Charizard is a pure dragon-type but that’s not the only trick we learned. Charizard use Tera blast. Charizard unleashed a blast of bluish green energy that completely overpowered both Mightyena and Houndoom while also sending team supernova flying.

“What was that technique, and can you teach it to me?” Aqua asked.

“It’s a technique unique to the Paldea region called Terastalization which changes a Pokémon’s type to a single one, and if you wish to learn it then you must take a special class to learn it, “Twilight explained.

“And I’m going to assume that Tera blast move is connected to this new technique. “Turquoise asked.

“Quite observant of you Turquoise, yes, it is connected, Tera blast is a powerful move whose type is dependent on the Tera-type of the one using it, in Charizard’s case, it’s a dragon-type move,” Twilight said.

“It was nice seeing you again Twilight, but I believe Turquoise wants to reach the gym before the day's end, “Fluttershy said.

“May I watch your gym battle?” Twilight asked.

“Sure, “Turquoise said. The girls returned to the gym and this time Tate and Liza were waiting for Turquoise.

“So how did you enjoy the launch?” Tate asked.

“It was amazing, but not as amazing as this gym battle will be, “Turquoise said.

“Then allow us to explain how we do things,” Liza said. “Our gym’s specialty is a modified double battle which means while Tate and I will each be using one Pokémon you will be using two Pokémon which means there are no substitutions in this battle.

“And before we continue, take a good look at the battlefield,” Tate said, which caused Turquoise to look around and notice all of the planets above them as well as the rocky surface of the field itself. “As you may pick up on, those planets above are also a part of the battlefield and we like to battle in three dimensions.

“Three dimensions? “Aqua asked, quite confused.

“It means Tate and Liza are taking the area around them into account, not just the ground itself,” Twilight explained. Soon a woman who was older than Tate and Liza took the ref spot.

“The battle between Tate and Liza the gym leaders and Turquoise the challenger will now begin, this will be a modified double battle with no substitutions allowed.” The woman said.

“Got it,” Turquoise said.

“Sure, thing mom,” Tate and Liza said in unison.

“Now trainers call out your Pokémon, “The ref said.

“Go Lunatone,” Liza said as she called out a rock creature with a magenta eye that was shaped like a crescent moon with a beak.

“Go Solrock,” Tate said as he called out an orange and yellow rock creature that looked like the sun but with squinted black eyes with red irises. Turquoise pulled out her pokedex for more info.

“Lunatone, The Meteorite Pokémon, The phase of the moon apparently has some effect on its power. It's active on the night of a full moon, “The pokedex said before Turquoise shifted its focus on solrock. “Solrock, the meteorite Pokémon, Solar energy is the source of its power, so it is strong during the daytime. When it spins, its body shines,”

“Both are Rock and psychic-types, so this is a no brainer,” turquoise said in her mind before making her two choices. “Go Meowscarada and Samurott. Both of them came out and were raring to go.

“I did not know Turquoise had a Meowscarada,” Twilight said in surprise.

“She had it since it was just a Sprigatito, and throughout the course of this journey she grew stronger just to battle alongside Turquoise in contests,” Fluttershy said.

“We knew you would pick those two,” Tate said.

“We hope you realized there is more to a battle than just type advantage,” Liza said.

“Oh, I know,” Turquoise said.

“Let the battle commence,” The ref said.

“Lunatone use moonblast on Meowscarada. Lunatone fired a blast of pink energy.

“Solrock use sunny day. Solrock unleashed a sunny day which covered the field in bright sunlight.

“Dodge that,” Meowscarada leaped towards one of the planets which allowed her to successfully dodge. “Now use Flower trick on Lunatone. Meowscarada used her flower trick in an attempt to score a hit, but Tate reacted.

“Solrock use Light Screen. Solrock erected a Light screen around both itself and Lunatone which lessened the damage.

“Nice save Brother, now Lunatone use Ice Beam on Meowscarada. Lunatone unleashed an ice beam that made a straight line past the planets. Suddenly Turquoise smiled as if she was hoping Liza would use ice beam.

“Samurott use Aqua jet on lunatone. Samurott moved swiftly while covered in water. Before the ice beam froze that water Samurott drew on of his swords and pointed it forward as the ice AquaJet made contact with lunatone which resulted in decent damage but not a lot thanks to Light screen. Once the ice broke, Samurott awaited Turquoise’s next command.

“Not bad but we are not done yet. Solrock use solar beam on Samurott. Thanks to the sunny day, the solar beam charged instantly. And was fired instantly. Samurott could not move as nimbly as it used to due to his bigger body.

“Meowscarada use dark pulse on Solrock. Meowscarada attacked from behind and managed to nail a powerful hit that made it through the Light screen.

“All right she managed to land a powerful blow,” Aqua said.

“That’s because light screen is designed to reduce damage from physical attacks, dark pulse is a special attack,” Twilight explained.

“But will it be enough?” Aqua asked.

“Let’s watch and find out,” Fluttershy said. Unfortunately, Solrock was still floating, and Solar beam was still going which meant Samurott was still taking damage. Samurott was hit for a ton of damage but used his resolve and willpower to endure the hit which activated his torrent ability.

“We must admit,” Liza said.

“Your skill and tenacity are impressive,” Tate said.

“Thanks,” Turquoise said.

“But” Tate said.

“We won’t lose that easily either, “Liza said. “Lunatone use Reflect. Lunatone’s eye glowed blue before another barrier formed around both Lunatone and Solrock.

“Now our defense is iron clad,” Tate said.

“How will you get through this? “Liza asked.

“Samurott use razor shell full power on Lunatone and meowscarada use Slash on Solrock. Samurott drew his blade and came at lunatone with all he had as his blade made contact with the Berrier. As for meowscarada her slash looked different as indicated by the black energy.

“Is that slash?” Aqua asked.

“No, that's Night slash, “Twilight said. Both moves pushed against the Berrier with all they had until eventually they broke through and dealt enough damage to cause both Lunatone and Solrock to crash into each other before hitting the ground and forming a dust cloud. Once the dust settled it was revealed that Lunatone and Solrock both fainted.

“Both Lunatone and Solrock are unable to battle, Meowscarada and Samurott are the winners which means victory goes to Turquoise, “The ref said while pointing her right flag at Turquoise.

“We did it, we won,” Turquoise said with joy. After recalling their Pokémon Tate and liza approached Turquoise.

“That was a really good battle,” Tate said.

“The way you used my ice beam to your advantage took me off guard, “Liza said before the two of them joined hands and held them out to Turquoise with something in them.

“As proof of your victory here at the Mossdeep Gym we present you with the Mind Badge,” Tate and Liza said in unison before giving Turquoise a pink heart-shaped badge.

“Thank you,” Turquoise said before adding it to her badge case.

“So where are you girls off to next?” Tate asked.

“To the next gym I guess,” Turquoise said.

“In that case we recommend the Sootopolis gym in Sootopolis City,” Liza said. Turquoise looked it up on her pokenav and was surprised to see how far it was.

“Looks like in order to get there we need to cross Izabi island, “Turquoise said.

“And that’s all? “Aqua asked.

“Actually, Izabi Island is one of the largest islands in Hoenn, home to a multitude of different environments,” Tate said.

“Sounds like an exciting adventure,” Turquoise said.

“I wish I had time to tag along but the class trip ends in two days, and I need to be back at the airport in Lilycove to return to Uva Academy,” Twilight said.

The next day the girls and twilight were at the docks where their respective ferries were waiting for them.

“Well Twilight, it was nice seeing you again,” Turquoise said.

“I wish you luck on both the Hoenn league and the Grand festival, “Twilight said before boarding the ferry back to Lilycove City. Turquoise, Fluttershy, and aqua boarded their ferry to Izabi island. Both went in two directions signifying the departure of two friends, what exciting adventures await our heroes next? Stay tuned as the journey continues.
