Today was the day of Turquoise’s upcoming contest and she was very excited.

“You seem quite excited today?” Aqua said.

“Why wouldn’t I be? This is a real contest and not some exhibition like the last one,” Turquoise said.

“Do you know who you are using, especially since this is a double performance?” Fluttershy asked.

“A double performance?” Aqua asked.

“It’s where coordinators use two pokemon instead of just one, “Turquoise explained. “And as for who i’m using, i’m going with my Meowscarada and my Metang.

“You're using Metang in a contest?” Fluttershy asked.

“Of course,” Turquoise said.

Meanwhile inside team supernova’s base Jessie was getting changed into her Jessilina outfit which brought back memories.

“I wish Isabelle was competing instead of me but she decided to take the safe route. The least I can do is keep her biggest threat from entering the grand festival, “Jessie said. She has been keeping up with the contest news and according to it, there are only three ribbons left and the Lilycove ribbon is one of them. After getting dressed she left for the contest hall.

Sometime later Turquoise was now backstage all dressed and ready to go. Soon Vivian appeared on the screen.

“Welcome everyone to the Lilycove City pokemon Contest, i am your host Vivian, today we have a special treat for you all as this contest will be a double performance. This got the crowd very excited since double performances were usually reserved for the grand festival. “And now let’s introduce the judges, first, we have the head of the pokemon activities committee, mr. Contesta.

“Always good to be here,” Contesta said.

“Next up, the head of the Pokemon Fanclub, Mr. Sukizo,” Vivian said.

“Remarkable,” Sukizo said.

“And finally, lilycove City,s own Nurse Joy, “Vivian said.

“I look forward to seeing these coordinators give it their best, “Nurse Joy said.

“And now let the contest begin, “Vivian said. So many coordinators gave it their all and the average was set at 22.4. Soon it was jessilina’s turn. “And now making her grand return after so long is Jessilina. Jessie took her position and pulled out two pokeballs.

“Seviper and Gourgeist, come on out,” Jessie said as she threw her two pokeballs forward which caused them to unleash black smoke and pink hearts. Once the smoke cleared Seviper and Gourgeist were revealed. The crowd was anticipating what Jessie was gonna do. Suddenly Jessie pulled out an Arbok like flute.

“A flute? What is she planning to do with that?” Aqua asked.

“We are about to see,” Fluttershy said. Suddenly Jessie began playing a snake charming song which got Seviper to start wiggling and Gourgeist to wave her arms. The two joined together which got the crowd really excited. This went on for a bit before she had Seviper leap and form a ring.

“Now Gourgeist use Bullet Seed Gourgeist fired bullet seed at Seviper which resulted in sparkles raining down on Jessie as she held her arm up and Seviper coiled around her. The judges gave her scores of 9.1, 9.3, and 9.2 which gave her a score of 27.6. Jessie was not too thrilled about it since she claimed it would have been a perfect 30 if James allowed her to borrow Carnivine. She returned backstage and several other coordinators went on it was now Turquoise’s turn.

“And now for our next contestant, all the way from Pallet Town in Kanto, give it up for Turquoise, “Vivian said as Turquoise walked onto the stage. Turquoise pulled out her two pokeballs before throwing them.

“Meowscarada and Metang let’s dazzle them,” Turquoise said before the two pokeballs popped open and unleashed pink flower petals and red confetti which surrounded both Meowscarada and Metang as they came out.

“I wonder what turquoise has planned since Metang is not suited for contests,” Aqua said.

“Let’s just watch and see, “Fluttershy said.

“Meowscarada, let's start the show with Flower Trick. Meowscarada snapped her finger as an unbloomed bud appeared in thin air.

“And there is Meowscarada’s signature move in action,” Vivian said.

“Metang use psychic on that bulb and Meowscarada use Dark Pulse. Metang kept the bulb suspended in mid air with Psychic while Meowscarada’s dark pulse surrounded it with black rings. The crowd and the judges were waiting in anticipation for the finale. “Now mantang finish with Flash Cannon. Metang fired a blast of white energy at the bulb which caused it to explode and create a shower of sparkling flower petals. The judges each gave Turquoise 10.0’s which gave her a perfect 30. Vivian then approached the judges for a comment.

“The way Turquoise combined those moves perfectly was amazing,” contesta said

“Very remarkable,” Sukizu said.

“It was like watching a magician and their assistant work together to create a very spectacular magic trick,” Nurse Joy said. As soon as Turquoise returned backstage, she could tell Jessie was not happy to be upstaged by her. The rest of the coordinators went on and once the last one was done it was time to see who made it to the second stage. Of course, Turquoise was not too worried since her perfect score guarantees her the top spot since no one else has come close to Jessie's score. After a few minutes the eight coordinators were chosen with Turquoise in first and Jessie in second.

“You may have beaten me in the appeals stage, but I will trounce you in the battle stage,” Jessie said.

“We shall see about that,” Turquoise said before the cards were shuffled. Both Turquoise and Jessie beat their opponents one by one until it was down to just them.

“And now we are down to our final two coordinators, on my left is Jessilina and on my right is Turquoise, five minutes on the clock, go, “Vivian said.

“Seviper and Gourgeist go,” Jessie said as she sent out her Seviper and Gourgeist.

“Meowscarada and Metang let’s dazzle them,” Turquoise said as she called out Meowscarada and Metang.

“”Seviper use poison tail on Meowscarada. Seviper came at meowscarada with poison tail only for Turquoise to react.

“Block that Metang. Metang intercepted the poison tail and took head on without feeling a thing which cost Jessie some points.

Jessilina: 85%

“What just happened?” Aqua asked.

“You see, Aqua poison-type moves are ineffective against steel-types, which was why Turquoise had Metang act as a shield.

“I get it, she knew Jessilina would try to eliminate meowscarada first,” Aqua said.

“But that’s not the only reason,” Fluttershy said.

“Now Metang Use Psychic on Seviper and meowscarada use dark pulse on Gourgeist. Metang levitated Seviper off the ground while Meowscarada had a clear shot of Gourgeist that is until Jessie reacted.

“Gourgeist use Phantom Force. Gourgeist suddenly dove into a shadow which caused dark pulse to miss and cost Turquoise some points.

Turquoise: 85%

“Seviper use Flamethrower. Seviper unleashed Flamethrower which took Turquoise by surprise for a bit.

“Metang slam Seviper. Metang slammed Seviper onto the stage which caused Flamethrower to miss Metang but head straight for Meowscarada who was about to be attacked from behind with Gourgeist coming out of the shadows. “Dodge it Meowscarada leaped out of the way and landed on top of Metang as flamethrower not only nailed Gourgeist but finished it off which caused the judges to hit their buzzers.

“And that failed two prong attack cost Jessilina a mountain of points,” Vivian said as jessie’s points went down severely.

Jessilina: 15%

Jessie looked furious as Turquoise just tricked her into wiping out her favorite pokemon.

“You're going to pay for that, Seviper use flamethrower on the twerpette’s Meowscarada. Seviper unleashed another Flamethrower which was heading straight for Meowscarada.

“Split up. Meowscarada leaped off of Metang as Metang went low which caused flamethrower to miss again.

Jessilina: 5%

“Meowscarada use flower trick and end this. Just like before meowscarada summoned an unbloomed bulb but once it made contact with Seviper it bloomed and then exploded. While it was not enough to wipe out Seviper it was enough to take away the last of Jessie’s points.

Jessilina: 0%

“And that’s all she wrote folks, After taking away all of jessilina’s points, the winner is turquoise,” Vivian said as the crowd cheered.

“No how can this be, I upgraded our attacks for this contest,” Jessie said in disbelief that she lost so easily.

“Let me give you some advice, it’s not the strength of an attack that matters, it’s how you use it,” Turquoise said. Jessie recalled Seviper and ran out of the arena furiously. Some time later all of the coordinators who competed gathered to see turquoise accept her ribbon.

“And now mr. contesta will award turquoise the lilycove Ribbon, “Vivian said.

“I believe this now makes five ribbons and we look forward to seeing you in Slateport city in two months,” Contesta said as Turquoise accepted her ribbon. With the contest now over after Turquoise changed back into her regular clothes it was time to decide what to do next.

“Congrats on making it to the Grand Festival,” Fluttershy said before noticing Turquoise was not as excited about it as she should be.

“What’s wrong Turquoise?, you don’t seem too thrilled about it, Aqua asked.

“ No I am glad to be going to the grand festival, but this battle, was a big let down, my final battles before the grand festival back in Kanto and Johto were big and exciting, but Jessilina was nothing more than a disappointment, beating her was as easy as beating Team Supernova,” Turquoise said.

“I think I see what you mean,” Fluttershy said.

“Well I don’t,” Aqua said.

“Think about it Aqua, when you're close to the goal the final obstacle is meant to be considered your toughest challenge yet, but Jessilina was something like that,” Fluttershy said.

“Exactly, where was that unique style of hers that many coordinators talked about,” Turquoise said.

“Well either way, you won, so no more dwelling on it, “Aqua said.

“You're right,” Turquoise said.

Meanwhile back at team Supernova’s HQ Jessie was having a meltdown which scared James and all team supernova grunts present.

“I CAN’T BELIEVE I LOST TO THE TWERPETTE SO EASILY, IT MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL,” Jessie shouted. Suddenly a female grunt came in nervously.

“Um, Miss Jessie?” the grunt said which caused Jessie to stare daggers at her.

“WHAT, CAN’T YOU SEE I AM VENTING MY FRUSTRATION RIGHT NOW,” Jessie shouted.

“You will want to see this,” the female grunt said while nervously showing her a broadcast of a contest that was two days ago and showed Isabelle winning. Jessie suddenly calmed down after seeing that Isabelle made it to the grand festival.

“Looks like it’s up to Isabelle to beat the Twerpette since I am not up to the task anymore, " Jessie said.

The next day the girls were now on board the ferry to Mossdeep Island. While they were sailing the girls were sitting together having a discussion.

“So why is the grand festival a long way away when all the contests have concluded?” Aqua asked.

“Not all, the last one is in Pacifidlog Town and due to the upcoming hurricane, that was postponed and rescheduled so as a consequence the date for the grand festival was also pushed back,” Turquoise explained.

“And how do you know that?” Aqua asked.

“It said so on the Pokenav, it also doubles as a miniature TV with news channels and stuff,” Turquoise said.

“Well luckily we should have enough time for your next two gym battles,” Fluttershy said. And so our heroes are now on their way to the next stop in their journey. What kind of adventure awaits them next. Stay tuned. As the journey continues.
