Prologue : the fallen creator

That day in the past.

'Every obstacle has been cleared out, my liege.' the black pegasus said.

A party of 14 members stood on the meadow in front of a giant castle. Some of them where slightly injured.

The sounds of the battle, that raged for hours, had finally died away. In comparison to the maelstrom of screams and clashing steel, it almost felt as if the planet itself stopped spinning. There was no wind nor a voice to be heard. Even the birds in the forest behind the group stopped their singing.

This brief period of silence was broken by a most beautiful voice. 'You have done well, Nether. All of you for that matter.' The brilliant white alicorn, replied.

Excitement rushed through the group.

'But for now', she continued, silencing the others , 'you can return to your posts. I thank you all for your courage in the battle. The next challenge however, is one I have to face alone.'

'But lady Coatlicue...' Nether started, ' you can't possibly think of taking on The Trinity all by yourself! Let us, your commanders, join you in battle.'

'Your concern is flattering, but unnecessary'. the snow white figure said with a smile.

Nether opened his mouth to argue once more, but Coatlicue waved away his objections. 'I will be fine', she added,' I am the Alpha, the creator, they will not be able to hurt me. I will go alone and that's final.'

With a sigh Nether gave in. 'If this is your wish I shall return to our palace in Equestria and await your return there.'

With that said every member of the group bowed to their leader before they left. Nether was the last one to leave. With last concerned look he took of in the cloudless blue sky. 'Be careful and please return safe', he thought.

When the black dot that was Nether, her most loyal commander, vanished in the blue, Coatlicue turned her attention to the task ahead.

She dreamt of this day for a long time: finally she could get rid of those dreaded bringers of chaos and create her paradise of order. 'Only a few more moments and then it will all be over.' she thought as she made her way towards the castle.

The once mighty castle was reduced to a ruin. The corner towers where smashed to ruble and all the flags where torn. The remains of the front gates hang piteous in their hinges.

As the white alicorn passed through the remains of the gate into the courtyard, the impact of the battle became clear. Dozens of body's laid scattered across the courtyard; pegasi, unicorns, dragons, lupaers and a variety of other races were present.

As she walked through the courtyard she paid no mind to the bodies at all.
'Pathetic' was the only word the Creator could think of. ' Why did they all commit themselves to the chaos'. She felt little pity for those who had fallen during the battle. The ones who fought for The Trinity where fools that deserved no other fate. And she was sure that the ones who fought for her ideals would gladly die a thousand deaths for their glorious leader.

She started to feel excited as she walked through the giant gates into the main building. Her horn began to tingle by the high concentration of magic in the atmosphere. The feeling lead her to the throne room of the bastion. The trinity had to be there, she could feel their power.

A staircase, a long hallway and yet another staircase. With each step the tingling feeling in her horn increased.

After what might have been the longest few minutes of her eternal life she stood in front of the gilded doors of the throne room.

'This is it, their reign of chaos will end today', she thought as she passed to the door.

In contrast to the rest of the piteous castle the throne room was well preserved. The giant stained-glass windows, which told stories about times long gone, were intact. The room was decorated with a vast amount of golden items. Red velvet draperies covered the walls. A giant chandelier hang in the middle of the room. Right below the chandelier was a platform on which were three gilded thrones. In the thrones sat three figures in high-quality robes. The left one was a dragon dressed in blue, the right one a griffin in purple and in the middle throne, which was just a bit taller then the others, was an alicorn dressed in black.

Slowly Coatlicue walked towards the platform. With each step her smile became wider and more confident. A few foot in front of the platform she held still.

With a grim face the so called 'Trinity' watched their arch enemy approach.

'So you finally did it', the alicorn said with a giant amount of hate in her voice, 'an all-out assault'.

'It was needed', Coatlicue replied, 'I could no longer bare the fact that you wreak havoc across the lands. All I wish for is peace.'

'That is not peace, that is slavery.' The dragon said. ' Every soul is entitled to their own thoughts, ideals and dreams'.

'That's foolish.' Coatlicue snapped back. 'They cannot be trusted with that kind of responsibility'. She raised her voice with every word she said.

'What happened ?' The griffin asked defeated. 'You are one of us.'

'No I am most certainly not,' The white alicorn replied, 'I am far superior to the likes of you. And the answer to the question; you betrayed me. I was close to creating paradise. But then you decided to team up against me. You have turned your backs on me. At first I thought you disliked me, but then it came clear, you fear me. Where I am able to create, you can only mutate or destroy. Therefore I have decided that today your chaos will end.'

During her speech a white aura formed around her. White sparks came off of it. When she finished speaking the sparks gathered above her and formed a cloud. In the ethereal cloud a steel spear was created. Even though the spear was far from perfect it still seemed a deadly weapon. Without any form of warning the spear was launched at the Trinity-alicorn.

The dragon jumped from his throne. With a mighty roar he snatched the spear out of the air.

'You are going to regret that.' His words held a promise.

In his claw the spear began to change shape. Blue sparks melted the spear and the liquid metal became solid again in a new form. Soon the spear had reformed itself into a barbed whip.

He lashed the whip towards Coatlicue. Just before it hit her she jumped aside. The whip tore a scar across the marble floor.

The now flying creator flew towards the platform. While she was closing in her white aura grew larger again, this time an armour of a metal of some sort materialized around her.

A flash of purple lit up the room. The charging alicorn was stopped in her tracks by a flock of purple clocks. It seemed as if the time was running slower between the semi-transparent clocks. The griffin was now standing, with her right claw was pointed towards her opponent. Purple sparks were still flashing around it.

This time was used by the last member of the Trinity. The alicorn in black was now standing as well. Around her a black aura began to form. A stream of black energy was launched towards Coatlicue. The energy became a cage around her.

'You know this level of attack will not stop me?' Coatlicue asked contemptuously.

'I do.' The other alicorn replied. 'It will, however hold you for long enough. We know we cannot defeat you. Therefore we have decided to disable you.'

'And where do you think to get the power to do that ?' The white one asked mockingly.

'You know, life is another form of eather.'

Her confidence made place for fear. 'You would not do that.' she shouted.

'Just watch.' the dragon replied.

Suddenly a strong wind swept across the room. The draperies were blown off the walls revealing the patterns behind them. A stream of light connected the patterns.

'We cannot destroy you...' the dragon said.

'... we can however bind you...' the griffin added.

'...for the rest of eternity.' the alicorn finished.

Darkness filled the room. Only the patterns on the wall and the Trinity were glowing. Their bodies began to dissolve. After a few seconds they turned completely to sparks. The patterns on the walls absorbed the sparks and the glow became more bright. When the last sparks where absorbed the glow died away.

Coatlicue was now completely alone in the room. The fear she felt petrified her. She knew it was over, there was nowhere to escape to. With a loud roaring sound a flash of light was released from the walls.

From the heart of the castle a bright light spread outwards. In a flash the whole castle was bathing in eye-blinding light. When the light faded the castle was no longer visible, instead a crystal sphere was now on that very spot.

The Trinity had given their lives for the sake of this world.

Now over a thousand years later the world has recovered from the war between Coatlicue and the Trinity. Nations have formed and peace reigned. The story of Coatlicue is all but a legend, a distant memory.

However, after this long a time some cracks start to appear in the crystal sphere
