Diablo 3: Hell's Eclipse
Heaven: The Prime Evil
Previous ChapterNext ChapterLuna wasted no time in flying though the air of the High Heavens, focusing less on the demons that were running around as her mind focused on the single target that she was after, the Prime Evil himself, and in the end she located the Crystal Arch, the core that powered all of Heaven. She ignored the angels that were guarding the Arch and flew above them, landing in the center of the area as she waited, where Luna could sense the dark power that was coming her way and braced herself, since this was an important battle, for both herself and for Sanctuary. All she cared about was destroying Diablo, the rest of the demons she was leaving to Valla and the others, and once she was done here she would go finish off Adria, if she hadn't bled out while her master was assaulting the Heavens. Fortunately Luna didn't have to wait too long as demonic energy tore right through the defenders and knocked them backwards, sending the angels flying in every which direction, and Diablo, in all his dark glory, stepped up the elegant stairs as he approached the Arch.
She couldn't tell if he was annoyed she was alive, disappointed in Adria, or amused that she dared to come back after what happened when he took over Leah's body, but at the same time she found that she didn't care in the slightest, as she was going to crush him no matter what happened.
"It would seem that you have a death wish, fool." Diablo remarked, showing Luna that he didn't even consider her enough of a threat to even speak her name, especially since he had forced her to the side previously, before her awakening, though his focus was on the floor that she was standing on, because if he focused his demonic power into the Arch he would begin to damage the Heavens.
"No, Diablo, all I seek is your death." Luna replied, glaring at the Prime Evil as he stepped up onto the portion of the Arch that she was standing on, as it was a good thing that he was underestimating her power since it meant she could surprise him in the next few minutes when the battle finally started, before she shifted her stance a little bit, "Come, Prime Evil, and meet your doom."
Diablo let out a dark chuckle for a moment as he activated his power, vanishing without a trace for a few seconds before he reappeared behind her, she could feel his heat clashing with her chilly aura, where she turned around as she swung both of her weapons, the blades catching his fist before it could hit her again. As he understood that his attack had been halted, but before he could react, she thrust them backwards and opened a hole in his defenses as she let go of the smaller blade and punched the Prime Evil in the chest, the force sending him into the wall behind him. In that instant, as she caught the smaller blade, Diablo seemed to realize that she wasn't weak anymore and responded accordingly, releasing his power as the area around him appeared to heat up, which Luna wasn't even surprised by since he was a demon. Luna made the next move as she used her magic to warp both of them into one of the lower reaches of the Heavens, where there were plenty of pillars and walkways, mostly it was to get Diablo away from his target and keep the Crystal Arch safe.
Following that Diablo got up and rushed her, where Luna raised her blades and parried the incoming attacks from Diablo's arm blades, which caused the air around them to shake and vibrate as bursts of it were pushed outwards, so if anyone was watching them they would be pushed away. Since there was no one else in the area the two simply engaged each other yet again, blades swinging at each other as Luna's icy aura clashed with Diablo's fiery aura, causing a surge of energy that simply caused this portion of Heaven to shake and shudder as they attacked each other. The Prime Evil threw a punch to knock her backwards and Luna parried it with the Ashbringer, though she did move herself backwards and allowed Diablo to focus on chasing her, because now that she was on par with his power he knew she needed to die before he made his move on the Crystal Arch. She was fine with that, because it meant that his focus was entirely on her and no one else, and it lead to her knocking her foe into the air before rushing after him, allowing them to clash with each other and dance around the air for a time before the force of their blows knocked both of them backwards.
This caused them to crash into two different pillars and shatter them as the pair burst off of the stone structures, breaking them in the process as Luna and Diablo clashed once more, causing the pillars near them to shatter under the weight of their power, and a few moments later they landed on the walkway.
"I don't know how you did it, but you are far stronger than you were when I took possession of Leah's body." Diablo stated, as it was a true fact, his foe was stronger than the Archangel of Valor since he had bested his old enemy in no time, and he was pleased with this discovery, because it meant he had the opportunity to test out the powers of the Prime Evil before he destroyed the Heavens at long last.
"If you say so." Luna remarked, where she briefly shifted her stance before she rushed forward once more, this time her icy aura started to chill everything that was around her as she clashed with Diablo, forcing him backwards as he realized that she wasn't backing down in the slightest.
The two of them continued their dance around the pillars that were in this area, the collision of their energies causing many of them to crack and a few to break in the process, but Luna paid little attention to what was happening around her as she danced around where she had brought them. She was able to confirm that Diablo's power and speed was stronger than the other Evils she had fought so far, it was befitting his existence as the Prime Evil, and she found that he still had the power to slip attacks through her defenses, even though she made sure not to give him an edge after each one. When Diablo planted such a punch in her chest she found herself being thrown backwards, smashing through several of the stone pillars that were in the way, and she came to rest right in the center of one of the thicker pillars, one that stopped her in her tracks as all of the other ones collapsed. Diablo, seeing that happen, burst into the air as he delivered a powerful kick down on where she had ended up, but Luna stopped the attack with the edge of Ashbringer, allowing the power of the attack to be transferred into the pillar around her, breaking it under the strain of their energies.
Luna turned the tables on Diablo as she forced him into the air and followed after him, the two of them continuing to fight as their energies tore a hole in the ceiling, allowing them to fight and tear through the material that went into making this place, and it wasn't long before they reached the roof of the structure.
In the following moment Diablo landed nearby and brought his hands together, gathering his power into a single point that looked like he was preparing a beam of fiery energy, where Luna landed nearby, spun around, and loosed a wave of energy at the Prime Evil. The crescent wave collided with the beam of energy without delay, the two attacks struggling against each other in the process, and Luna found that her foe tried to extend his power onto where she was standing, trying to trap her in a shadowy realm that represented all things terrifying, a realm of terror. Luna wasted no time in expanding her magic in response, shattering the temporary realm in an instant as the two attacks finally shattered, blasting a hole in the roof of the structure and forced both of them away from each other, allowing them to put more distance between them. She rushed at Diablo a few seconds later and kicked him in the chest with the side of his leg, where she pushed him out into the open air, forcing him to float in the air as he considered his next move, since she was holding her own and this meant he needed to do something else to bring her down.
As Luna thought about that Diablo held his hand out as twenty crackling pillars of energy formed around her, the very move Leah had used against her during their training, and sure enough she found that the magic formed red demonic bows that were pointing their arrows in her direction.
"You might have gained new power, but not even you can hope to avoid all of these attacks." Diablo stated, where he stared at Luna for a moment and let the arrows fly, as he knew that there was no way for her to block all twenty of them, he felt that at least five of them would pierce Luna's body and deal some devastating wounds to her body, 'Now die and return to darkness, fool."
Instead of responding Luna simply closed her eyes and steadied her breathing, as the moment the arrows were loosed she spun around, where Diablo watched the impossible happen, she struck each and every bit of magic that was coming at her, scattering the magic like it was nothing, and as he realized that fact he noticed that Luna's eyes were open again.
"My turn: Heavenly Shocking..." Luna replied, where she righted herself so she was standing with both hooves on the roof of the structure, allowing her to swing her smaller blade from her left side to her right side, creating a shimmering crescent of energy in front of her, this one containing a lot more power than she had used against Leah in her training, and as she did that Diablo made his next move.
"Demonic Sanctuary." Diablo said, his energy rushing out of him to form a magical circle around him, emblazoned with the demonic runes that were common with the cults that worshiped him and the other Evils, which had seven pillars that were around the outer edge and connected that circle to the one above him, creating a magical barrier of sorts that was likely the best defense that the Prime Evil could create with his newfound power.
"...Cross Slash." Luna finished, bringing Ashbringer down, from the area that was in front of her head down to the area that her knees were in, creating a second shimmering crescent wave on top of the first one, both containing the same icy color as the rest of her attacks, showing her foe that she wasn't done with him yet.
In the following moment the cross enlarged itself, becoming at least three times the size as Luna herself, before it rushed through the air like a powerful arrow that was loosed from a bow, the air was giving way to her attack, and slammed right into the face of the barrier, blasting the entire structure apart and sent the Prime Evil flying into one of the other buildings with a number of cuts all over his body. Luna stood there for a moment, staring at the destruction she had caused, before realizing something important about that exchange, that being Diablo's actions in creating a barrier to stop her attack in it's tracks, when he could have dodged it much easier. Instead of following through with her next attack, however, Luna reached out with her magic and tapped into the seal she had placed on the Black Soulstone, which she could still feel inside Diablo's body, because there was no reason for Diablo to do what he did. With that in mind Luna came to the decision that there was someone else behind that split second decision, someone the Prime Evil likely thought he and Adria had destroyed, who she had thought was dead before this point in time, and yet, despite that fact, her magic was telling her something else.
With that discovery made Luna withdrew the crystalline daggers Kulle had given her and rushed at Diablo, though as her foe got up she switched the smaller blade for one of the reforged shards of the Worldstone, driving it down into her opponent's chest, the tip touching where the Black Soulstone was resting.
Sure enough she found that the power of the shard responded to her desire and it surged into the seventh portion of her seal, into the soul that was resting in the place that Diablo's soul had been imprisoned in when she used her magic on the stone, and when she pulled the handle out the crystal was like ash. Of course Diablo attacked her again, but this time around he found that something was going on with his body, it felt weaker, slower, making him wonder what in the world was going on since Luna's sudden power up, as it seemed like her icy aura was now affecting him somewhat. Luna wasted no time in continuing with her series of attacks, using either of her blades and her magic to block incoming attacks, and whenever she spotted an opening in Diablo's defenses she stabbed him with one of the remaining crystalline daggers, targeting the same area of the seal. Each time she did that the Prime Evil found his own power weaken, even though she could tell that her foe had no idea what was going on since Luna was making sure Diablo couldn't see what she was doing and struck him from all sorts of angles, and when he really slowed down she made her move.
What she meant by that was that she grabbed her opponent by the head and rushed through the air, slamming him down into the ground of the Crystal Arch, planting him between the core and the stairs leading to this area, and she landed right in front of the core, while the others finally caught up as they ascended the flight of stairs.
"What... What have you done?!" Diablo asked, as now he could feel that something was wrong with his body, it was like his control over the powers of the other six Evils had been severed in some manner, like Luna had enforced her will upon that cursed seal that was resting on the Black Soulstone, one that Adria had messed with a little to ensure he was able to make himself the Prime Evil.
"Me? Plenty." Luna replied, not bothering to go into detail about what was going on right now, though in the next moment a scaly hand burst out of Diablo's chest, like someone had stabbed him from behind, yet as the Prime Evil growled in pain the group could see that no one was behind her opponent, rather the hand and arm came from inside his form, "But you should be more focused on what she's doing."
Diablo growled in pain as a second hand joined the first, followed by arms as he realized that a portal or something had been opened in his core, before both hands moved and started pushing on the sides of the hole they had opened, like they were tearing him open from the inside out. It was like someone had been trapped inside his personal realm or something and was breaking his way out of his body, where the gaping hole was forced even wider than before as he discovered that he was right, something or someone was entering this world. In that moment his worst fears were realized, Luna had been able to damage the seal she put on the Black Soulstone, it was like the Evils were tearing their way out of his body, and in the next moment a head emerged from the gaping hole that had been opened in his body. It was a dragon head, he recognized it based on what little information Luna had shared with Leah, yet feminine at the same time, and in the following moments the figure fully emerged from him, where Diablo's life was snuffed out as someone forced his soul back into Luna's seal.
Luna let a smile appear on her face for a moment, as the new figure was a humanoid dragon, red scaled with elegant black horns that mimicked the crown of the Prime Evil while fitting her smaller frame, they were definitely smaller than Diablo's had been, and she had digitigrade legs, a powerful slender scaly tail, and elegant wings that were just like a dragon's.
"I... I'm alive?!" the figure asked, where Tyrael and the others paused for a moment as they recognized it, as it was Leah's, to which the figure looked down at herself for a moment, because while her body looked similar to what Diablo's had been when he was the Prime Evil, in terms of form, Leah looked like an anthro dragon, "Luna... what did you do?"
"I realized that Adria had forced your soul into Diablo's portion of my seal, an exchange of sorts, so I gave you the power to seize control over the other Evils." Luna replied, where she set aside her weapons as Kulle realized what she had used the shards of the Worldstone for, she had channeled their power into Leah's soul to empower her, allowing them to launch a pincer attack on Diablo without Diablo realizing what was going on, and it ended with Luna embracing Leah, "Welcome back to the land of the living, Leah."
Kulle knew that this wasn't what he had been expecting when he gave the crystalline daggers to Luna, he had been thinking she'd use them to empower herself to destroy Diablo, and he guessed she did that in her own way, before he and the others left Luna and Leah alone for the time being, as now they had to deal with the angels, and Imperius, before facing whatever the future held in store for them and Sanctuary.
