Arctic was at the lake with Glacious. The Element bearers were all away with Spike at Appleloosa to visit Applejack’s extended family, so the two were on their own.

“I must say, my child, I’m amazed you were able to pull off Water Warping. And on your first try.” Glacious said.

“I had seen you use it in battle once before. I figured I could try it to see if it would work.” Arctic sheepishly rubbed the back of his head.

Arctic had told Glacious about the fight with Barite. When he had gotten to telling her about the Water Warp attack he had pulled, she was astonished.

Water Warping. It is a technique that Glacious had created long ago. She wanted to find a way to teleport without the obvious loud pop and crackle of typical teleportation. With her cunning and creativity, she gave rise to Water Warping, though it is exceptionally difficult compared to normal teleportation.

It allows you to warp anywhere, so long as there’s a big enough body of water, or substance that contains water, and said substance or water is within eyesight.

Arctic, now, was showing Glacious the Water Warp he used, demonstrating with a stick and two puddles of water.

“You’ve learned it, although at a small scale. Performing this technique takes a lot of energy. You must build up more energy to do this at a larger scale.” Glacious explained.

“Yes ma’am. It’s so taxing, I’m amazed I can even still stand after doing it.” Arctic said with labored breaths.

“Do not fret, my child. You will get better with time.” Glacious said as she pulled Arctic into a hug with her wing.

As the two hugged, a loud yell sounded. The two looked for the source and spotted it. The CMC. Falling from the sky. In a hot air balloon. Arctic was about to jump in and catch them, when Glacious stopped him.

In a quick flash, Glacious dropped her Pegasus disguise. In her mid point form, her horn lit up. Grabbing the water, she created a large disk of water above the lake and a disk of water above the ground. The hot air balloon and the cmc shot through the disk over the water and popped out to one over the ground. The basket landed with a thud and the balloon flopped to the ground.

Glacious transformed back into her Pegasus disguise and winked at Arctic, a smile plastered across her muzzle. He just rolled his eyes and walked up to the basket.

“I told you, we needed more fuel.” Sweetie Belle said.

“I thought it was enough. I didn’t think we needed more!” Scootaloo said.

“Of course we did. If yer payin’ more attention next time, we might be able to get our Cutiemarks!” Retorted Apple Bloom.

“You should‘ve blown into it, Scootaloo. Your head is already full of hot air.” Sweetie Belle said.

“Now that wasn’t very nice.”

The three jumped and looked up. Arctic was just watching them with a smile on his face as he struggled not to laugh.

“Arctic!” Apple Bloom said as she and then the others jumped into my arms.

“What were you three young ones doing? Using that Hot Air Balloon without an adult. You could’ve been hurt.” Glacious said as she walked up.

“Well, we wanted to get our cutie marks in piloting a Hot Air Balloon. But we kinda didn’t fuel it enough.” Sweetie Belle said.

“And we kinda ran into some birds.” Scootaloo reluctantly added.

“Well, at least you three are safe now.” Arctic said as he hugged the three of them.

“Hey Arctic? What are you and yah Ma doing out here? Are you going swimming?” Apple Bloom asked.

“Can we go swimming with you? Maybe we can get our cutie marks in swimming!” Sweetie Belle chimed in.

“We are not swimming, Young Sweetie Belle. I am training with my child. He needs to build up more stamina, as well as work on his Ki and Magic.” Glacious said.

“Ki?” Asked Apple Bloom.

“What is that?” Asked Scootaloo.

Arctic briefly went on to explain Ki to them. But it didn’t quite get through. So, he decided to show them instead. Using his ki, he had a brief sparring match with Glacious.

The Crusaders were amazed. They had seen him use magic, and ki briefly, seeing him fly and occasionally use an energy ball as a light source, but he never really showed them what all he could do with it. They watched him fly all over, move so fast it looked like he teleported, delivered heavy kicks and punches to Glacious which she blocked or parried. At some point, Glacious even vanished. Arctic stood there, looking around for a bit. Then he whipped around and charged a green energy beam in his right hand. He fired the massive beam at Glacious who had reappeared in the air and danced around the blast, jutting out her hind leg to kick his face, only for him to grab her and toss her aside.

The Crusaders watched on in awe at their session. Once the two were over, the Crusaders cheered and ran up to them.

“That was so cool! Probably cooler than watching Rainbow Dash!” Scootaloo shouted.

“That was amazin’! Y’all were flying around so fast, ah couldn’t keep track!” Said Apple Bloom, stars in her eyes as she remembered watching them flying through the air.

“You were like ‘whoosh’ and ‘boom’! And Arctic was all ‘pachew’ and ‘bang’!” Sweetie Belle added, mimicking the moves she saw them do.

“Oh I wish I had that Ki stuff! Maybe we could do stuff like that too!” Scootaloo said.

“You do, actually.” Arctic said.

The Crusaders stopped dead in their tracks.

“Wut?” Apple Bloom asked, looking at Arctic with a dumbfounded expression.

“Yeah. Every living thing has Ki. Even the grass has a slight bit of Ki of its own. You ponies have it, though it’s dominated by your magic. I’d say the race of ponies who use a bit more Ki is Earth Ponies. But yeah, you all have Ki. Even you three.” Arctic explained to the three.

“So you mean, we could do what you do?” Scootaloo asked excitedly.

“With proper training, yeah. But I’d have to teach you how to access your Ki first.” Arctic said.

The three little fillies were absolutely ecstatic. They were gonna learn to use Ki. They jumped and cheered, screams of joy echoing around. Glacious looked to Arctic.

“My child, are you sure about this? These little fillies with such power, who knows what they could get up to.”

Arctic thought for a bit. He cleared his throat, catching the three fillies' attention.

“Okay you three. Learning ki and constant training will give you access to great amounts of power. If you three are going to properly do this, I want you to promise me that you three will use this power to defend yourselves and to protect others.”

“We promise!” The three yelled out.

Arctic stared at them for a bit and smiled.

“Very well. Guess I’ll teach you.” Arctic said.

The three fillies cheered. Glacious went into the shade and sat down, watching the quartet. Arctic sat down in front of the three, his hands held up a bit.

“Now, first, quiet your mind and relax. Then, listen to the center of your body. You’ll feel a warmth within. Once you do, latch onto it. Then, pull it out.”

Arctic explained as he formed a blue glowing ball of Ki within his hands. The Crusaders watched in awe. They had never seen such a thing before. It looked intense, but cool. Quite peaceful, actually. Arctic’s Ki dissipated as he looked at the three.

“Now then, time for you three to give it a shot.”

The three looked at each other. Doing their best to sit in a way similar to him, they held out their hooves and did their best to summon their ki. However, it looked as though they were forcing it. Arctic chuckled.

“It won’t work if you three go trying to force it. Remember. Calm yourselves.” Arctic said.

The three nodded and tried again. Nothing happened for a bit, until Arctic felt something. It was Ki. And it came from Apple Bloom. As Apple Bloom’s Ki rose, a small ball of Ki appeared in her hooves. Arctic smiled and petted her head.

“Good job Apple Bloom! You did good!” Arctic said cheerfully.

Apple Blooms ki ball dissipated as she collapsed.

“Thank yah, Arctic.” Apple Bloom said between heavy pants.

“Now, Scootaloo, Sweetie Bell. It’s your turn.” Arctic said.

The two nodded and tried again. Apple Bloom sat in Arctic’s lap as she and Arctic watched Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle. It took some time, but the two managed to do it. First Sweetie Belle and then Scootaloo. Arctic congratulated them both and hugged them tight.

“We did it!” Cheered the three fillies.

“Does this mean we can do all the cool fighting things you do?!” Scootaloo asked.

“With proper training, you could. But first, I say it’s time I taught you three how to fly.” Arctic said.

Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom were amazed. But Scootaloo, she was beyond amazed. Beyond excited. Finally, Finally she would be able to fly!

Scootaloo was born with underdeveloped wings. She would never be able to fly with them. But she could use them for extra speed on her scooter. With this Ki training, she would finally be able to fly. Be able to Fly alongside her idol, Rainbow Dash, and seemingly new idol, Arctic.

Scootaloo looked at Arctic with fire in her eyes.

“When do we start!?” Scootaloo asked, eager to begin the flight training.
