Chapter 10: Taking the Weekend Off: Beach Day

Sunny went to the Maretime Bay Hospital to check on her idol, who turned out to be her Great Grandmother, Twilight Sparkle. As she got there, Nyx was already there. Nyx was sitting to Twilight's right side of the bed. The bed was on the right side of the room. Sunny then walked over to the left side of the bed.

"She's still hasn't awoken?" Sunny asked.

"No," Nyx answered. "Mom's still in a coma." She then looked at the heart rate monitor. Twilight's heart rate was at 26 BPM. "This is how I know she's still alive." She then moved her head closer to Twilight's. "I just wish I could see her eyes looking at mine once again."

"I still can't believe that the mare I looked up to since I was a filly is my Great Grandmother," Sunny said. "I just hope she wakes up so I can officially meet her."

"Oh, I'm sure that you will," Nyx said. "Alicorns are able to live for a long time. Unless their magic has been taken away, or if they retire."

"How long do Alicorns live after retiring?" Sunny asked.

"At least 10-20 years," Nyx answered.

"You probably know more about Opaline than anypony else in Maretime Bay," Sunny said. "Did she know about Aaron's world?"

"She did know, but she had no idea where the portal was," Nyx said. "Mom had to destroy the portal so she couldn't go after Aaron and Smolder on Earth."

"So, Aaron and Smolder had no way back here?" Sunny asked.

"Of course," Nyx said.

"But, couldn't they have helped in the battle against Opaline?" Sunny asked.

"They were already dealing with their own predicaments at the time," Nyx said. "Smolder was pregnant at the time."

"Sparky has an older sibling?" Sunny asked.

"With twins," Nyx said. "So, Sparky has two older siblings... that I know of. Twins runs in Aaron's side of the family." She then sighed. "But, they're not the only ones from this world that got stuck on the other side."

"What happened?" Sunny asked.

"To protect them as well, she sent their friends through the portal... before she destroyed it," Nyx said.

"Wait, Twilight Sparkle was the one who destroyed the portal?!" Sunny asked.

"That's right," Nyx said. "Besides, it was better for them to be safe on Earth than to have their magic taken here. Besides, Smolder was going to need all the support she needs from friends." She then sighed. "Don't tell any of them."

"Right," Sunny said. "If Aaron and the others find out, they would've helped stop Opaline, and possibly, none of us would've been born."

"Speaking of Aaron and his friends, where are they now?" Nyx asked.

"With what they been through yesterday, the others thought that they deserve to do something fun to lift their spirits," Sunny said.

"Like what?" Nyx asked.

At the beach, Aaron, the Young 6 and Zipp were having a beach day. Aaron, Smolder, Gallus and Zipp were riding the waves on surfboards.

"All right!" Zipp said as she was riding the wave. "Now that's what I call threading the needle!"

"Cowabunga!" Aaron said.

"Woohoo!" Smolder shouted.

"Oh, man, this is so fun!" Gallus called out. Eventually, they made it back to the beach. There, Sandbar and Ocellus were both building a sandcastle. Yona was laying down on a blanket, and Silverstream was nowhere in sight.

"So, you all enjoying time at the beach?" Zipp asked.

"Not first time at beach for Yona," Yona said. "Yona and friends spent time at beach at Silverstream's home during Spring Break."

"Was that on the last day of Spring Break before you all headed back to the School?" Aaron asked.

"Oh, yeah," Ocellus said. "It was fun."

"I still can't believe you got a Cutie Mark as well, O," Aaron said. "Although, it looks like the Cutie Mark you had in your Pony form."

"Oh, yeah, that's right," Sandbar said. "How could I not see it before?"

Ocellus then looked at her Cutie Mark and said, "Huh. Guess I didn't realize it as well."

"Hey, where are Silverstream, Izzy, Pipp and Misty?" Gallus asked, looking around. All Sandbar, Ocellus and Yona did in response was point at the water. Just then, there were four splashes coming out. Silverstream, Izzy, Pipp and Misty came out from under the water.

"Hey, everypony! Look at me, I'm a Seapony!" Izzy shouted, revealing her Seapony tail.

"Of course," Zipp said. "Silverstream has that special necklace that turns herself into a Seapony, along with anypony she touches.

"This is amazing!" Pipp said, crawling out of the water and towards where her stuff was on the beach. She then grabbed her phone and took a selfie. "Everypony is gonna be amazed by this!"

Aaron then sat down next to Sandbar and asked, "How's your head?"

"Still stings a little," Sandbar said. "Sorry about what I almost did to you guys back in the cave."

"Hey, you were under mind control," Aaron said. "You didn't have much choice."

"So, anyone else wanna try surfing?" Zipp asked.

"Not Yona, thank you," Yona said. "Yak can't swim."

"Didn't you spend a week in...?" Zipp asked before remembering. "Oh, right. You were turned into a walrus. Guess you can only swim as a sea creature."

"White flying pony right," Yona said.

Pipp looked over at Aaron and asked, "Does she ever talk like a normal civilized creature?"

"When she practiced for a fancy dance..." Aaron said. "Or when she's a human."

"She can turn into a human, too?!" Pipp asked.

"No," Aaron said. "It was actually because of a special medallion that Twilight made so whoever wears it and taps on it becomes human. For yaks, it's special because it also gives them the ability to talk in full sentences."

"Yona requested that," Yona said.

"Good call," Misty said. She then looked back at her tail fin. "Silverstream, is it okay if I go back to being a regular unicorn? It was fun being underwater, but I'd like to go back to walking on dry land."

"Okay!" Silverstream said. She then grabbed Misty's hoof. Pipp and Izzy also joined in the connection. Then Silverstream tapped her magic seashell and the four of them transformed back into their land forms.

"Whew," Misty sighed in relief. "Thanks."

"No problem!" Silverstream said.

"I'm goin' back out there!" Smolder said, grabbing her surfboard. "See ya." She then tossed her board onto the water, then she jumped onto the surfboard, landing on her stomach, and then she started paddling out.

"Guess those surfing lessons from Hawaii payed off," Gallus said.

"Yeah, it did," Aaron said.

"Look, there she is!" came the voice of a filly. The group all looked towards the voice and they saw the Pippsqueak Trio coming up to them. Seashell then saw Pipp back as her normal self. "Hey, I thought you were a Seapony."

"Oh, I was," Pipp said. "Silverstream." Silverstream then grabbed Pipp's hoof, then she tapped her seashell necklace and both of them became Seaponies.

"Whoa!" the Pippsqueak Trio said in unison.

"That is awesome!" Peach Fizz said.

"I'd so like to be a Seapony, too," Glory said.

Gallus chuckled and said, "Hey, don't these three little fillies remind you guys of some other fillies back in our time."

"Smolder said the same thing when she saw them on the screen," Aaron said.

"Wait, there were three fillies each one a different pony type back in your time?" Zipp asked.

"Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo," Aaron said. "Also known as the Cutie Mark Crusaders. They came together because all three of them were blank flanks."

"What's a blank flank?" Misty asked.

"A pony who hadn't received their Cutie Mark yet," Aaron said. "That term was mostly used for insults... by the school bully because her mom was basically the biggest jerk in all of Ponyville."

"Yeah, she was," Sandbar said. "She thinks just because she was rich, she gets to say or do whatever she wants without thinking about the consequences."

"Aaron got that mare arrested for embezzling from the Ponyville Schoolhouse," Gallus said.

"Oh, nice!" Zipp said. She and Aaron then high-hoofed-clawed. "So, for what did she spend the money on back then?"

"She prepaid for a statue of her daughter, Diamond Tiara, for winning the election for Student Pony President weeks before the election," Aaron said. "And Diamond Tiara lost that year. Not only that, but she lost her only friend. The Cutie Mark Crusaders went to see if she was okay after what happened. So, they showed her the light. Diamond Tiara stood up to her mother and had her father help out with the school funding to pay for new playground equipment. And after realizing that they would rather help ponies earn or understanding their Cutie Marks, that when those three fillies earn Cutie Marks of their owns. All of them look nearly identical."

"How identical?" Pipp asked.

"Same colors, same shape shield, different emblems," Aaron said. "Apple Bloom had an apple with a heart inside it, Sweetie Belle had a star with a music note, and Scootaloo had a wing with a lightning bolt."

"Nice," Zipp said.

"Oh, and two of them happen to be the younger sisters of two of the previous Elements of Harmony Bearers," Aaron said.

"Really?" Misty asked. "Which Elements?"

"Honesty and Generosity," Aaron said. "Apple Bloom was Applejack's little sister, and Sweetie Belle was Rarity's little sister."

"That's so cool!" Zipp said.

"So, have you checked your family trees?" Gallus asked.

"Oh, we have," Pipp said. "Turns out, Zipperdoodle and I are both descendants of two of the previous Elements of Loyalty and Generosity."

"Mom was on Rarity's side, Dad was on Rainbow Dash's," Zipp said.

"I actually see that," Aaron said. "You inherited Rarity's white coat and Rainbow Dash's fast flying habit." Zipp smiled at that. He then looked at Pipp. "And you inherited Rarity's beautiful style... but... I'm not seeing much of Rainbow Dash in you. Not unless you're into pranks."

"Oh, Pipp was into pranking on Nightmare Night," Zipp said. "She set up the Brighthouse with crazy scary gags, but every time she tried to scare Misty, she failed."

"I still don't understand why she didn't scare when I tried," Pipp said.

"You've seen where she lived before moving into the Brighthouse, right?" Aaron asked. That made Pipp go wide eyed.

Zipp laughed and said, "Burn!"

"Serious burn," Misty said. That made everyone else laugh.

"Okay, I'll admit, Opaline is scarier than me, by about..." Pipp said before being interrupted.

"A thousand times when she's angry," Misty said.

"Yeah, that's it," Pipp said. She then looked at her tail fin. "Silverstream..." Silverstream then grabbed Pipp's hoof, then she tapped her seashell necklace and both of them reverted back to their normal forms. "Thanks. For a moment there, I almost felt like rotting fish."

"That happens if a Seapony isn't in the water for a while," Silverstream said.

"Yeah, and it was stinky," Aaron said.

"Stinkier than Pipp's hoof polish made from Stinkthistle?" Izzy asked.

"I'm sorry, what?" Aaron asked.

"I accidentally foraged the most smelliest plant in Bridlewood called Stinkthistle," Pipp said. "It may have been really stinky, but it shines hooves like crazy."

Then Smolder came back to the group from the water, asking, "How stinky?"

"I was low on the fragrance last week, so I went to get some more," Pipp said. "Wait here." She then flew towards town.

"Oh, it was really stinky," Zipp said. "I wanted out of there as soon as I smelt it."

Then Pipp came back with a Stinkthistle plant, saying, "Here it is." Aaron and Smolder then gave it a sniff. Then they gave a reaction.

"Oh, man, that stinks!" Aaron said.

"You're tellin' me!" Smolder said. "I never thought I'd smell that again!"

"You know this scent?" Zipp asked.

"I wore that scent when I was molting," Smolder said.

"That's what the Molt smells like?" Aaron asked.

"Yep," Smolder said. "You're lucky since you skipped the Molt."

"Molt?" Sandbar asked.

"Remember that day when Spike was giving a tour of the School of Friendship and he was shouting in the library?" Aaron asked.

"Oh, that day," Sandbar said.

"Spike ran away ashamed of appearance," Yona said.

"I would be, too," Pipp said. "I remember that one time I had to cancel one of my concerts when I was younger because my face was breaking out."

"I was the first pony who saw her face that day," Zipp said. "And I can tell you, it wasn't pretty."

"Well, dragons at this age won't have to worry about that," Smolder said.

"But now that you're half human now, you might be breaking out again," Aaron said. "My aunt says in high school, you better prepare yourself for pimples."

"I agree with that," Zipp said. "Pimples might be in your future."

"Meh, we'll see," Smolder said. She then looked out at the ocean. "You know, I think we've had enough time at the beach."

"Perhaps you're right," Zipp said. "Let's get inside."

"Oh, I think I know a way for everyone to have some more relaxing time," Pipp said.

"Like what?" Aaron asked.

"Please don't let it be makeovers," Zipp said. "Please don't let it be makeovers."
