The Coziest of Diamonds

“Oh, golly! So we’re both each other’s sex partner number one then, huh?” I say before putting the freshly rolled joint in between my lips… I’ll admit, since Diamond just got back from the head shop, I’m kinda anxious to try this new shit out! I’ve never smoked it before!

Diamond smiles, “Yeah, that’s true! But that’s fine now, since we have each other. Now hurry up! I wanna know how this Everfree purple stuff smokes!”

I suddenly realize that I’ve turned my marefriend into a stoner, as I bring the yellow plastic hoof lighter to my face to ignite my joint! I have no idea where this lighter came from?

Diamond stares at me intently while I spark the lighter and bring my snout towards it to inhale…

Flame kisses the end of the stoge, and soon ignites the weed contained therein as I inhale delicious earthy floral flavor on my tongue as the smoke rolls down my throat…

Diamond just continues smiling at me, and I find this unnerving for some reason?

I exhale a big cloud of smoke as I take the joint out, and she stares wide-eyed, “Oh, wow! Are you okay darling?”

Oh, right! Pet names! Uh, what was I talking about again? “I-I’m good! Sweetie honey pie! Yes…” I manage to stutter out before bringing the joint to my lips for another drag…

Diamond frowns, “You’ve been smoking a lot, even for you!”

I exhale smoke before me and finally turn my head right towards Diamond to lift my hoof in the air, so she can collect the joint, “Yeah, well, learning I was gay is kinda stressful! Whaddaya say we burn this guy here, and then we don’t smoke again until the evening!”

She stares at the joint in her hoof and says, “Add on a bowl, and you got a deal!” before bringing it to her lips for a drag…

Oh, golly! She really is a stoner! “Deal!” I say happily while smiling…

Diamond exhales smoke when suddenly, a purple flash appears on the other side of the room!

I stare at the purple alicorn now standing there, “You know Twilight, you have bad timing! Could you come back in a couple of hours?”

She frowns at me, “You’re smoking again?”

“We did just wake up, you know!”

She sighs and rolls her eyes, “Fine! I’ll be back in two hours!” and then vanishes in another purple flash!

Diamond exhales smoke and turns to me, “What did Twilight want?”

I frown, “How would I know?”

Diamond brings the joint back to her snout while staring at me with her enormous azure gaze…

(About two hours later…)

I stare at the bizarre seaweed and Grey Ponpon mustard sandwich on the table in front of me, “Are you sure this is a good idea Diamond?” my love asks me from across the way…

“Trust me Cozy! These sandwiches are awesome!” I say before grabbing mine and taking a hearty bite! I’m not usually this messy…

I happily munch the sandwich as Cozy stares at hers, and timidly picks it up to take a bite…

I see her eyes narrow in satisfaction and I can tell I just about have her, when there’s another purple flash behind her!

I stare at Twilight just to the right, “Cozy is right! You do have bad timing!”

She frowns at me as Cozy swallows, “What? You said a couple of hours! That would suggest that I be back in two hours, correct?”

“Okay, you got me there Twilight! And now the million bit question, what do you want?”

“It’s fine! I wasn't hungry anyway…” Twilight mutters to herself…

“Twilight! Focus! You came up here for some reason! What was it?”

Her eyes widen as she starts, “Oh! Yes! That!” and smiles. “I just wanted to see how our adorable inmate was doing!”

“I was a lot better before you showed up!” Cozy says nonchalantly, before taking another bite of her sandwich…

I smile at the alicorn, “Well, you’ll be pleased to know that we’ve been making wonderful progress! Cozy Glow has agreed to accept both my love and companionship and she’s beginning to realize that there’s a better way!”

“You know, I was already thinking a lot about that when I was trapped in the other universe!” Cozy casually mentions before taking another bite of her sandwich…

Twilight stares at Cozy, “Yeah, I was meaning to ask you about that! What do you mean, you escaped to another universe?”

Cozy swallows her sandwich and frowns and I can tell this is a touchy subject with her as she sets down her food on the plate and turns her head right towards Twilight, “Well, you were a nerd in school, right?”

Twilight’s eyes widen as her snout frowns, “Well um, that is to say, well… “

Cozy nods, “Right! You were a total dweeb and let me guess! The other fillies and colts wanted nothing to do with you, am I right?”

Her face muzzle goes to an indignant scowl, “Hey! I had friends!”

“Oh, yeah? Who?”

“There names were, uh, Sandy uh, Sandy Plateflank! Right!”

“You made that up by looking at my sandwich on the plate, huh?”

“Hey! Sandy Plateflank could be real!”

Cozy nods again, “Well, imagine your life at school back then, only constant. As in nopony really acknowledges you or wants anything to do with you! And you know, the most messed up thing is, I never knew why!”

Twilight frowns skeptically again, “But how did you get to the other dimension? You never did explain that.”

“Well, that’s hard to explain… “Cozy says before bringing her eyes to the ceiling…

“Give it your best shot!”

Cozy’s eyes go back to the alicorn, “Okay, as I stayed frozen there in place and unable to move, my mind began to wander… Eventually, I guess I kinda went into myself?”

Twilight frowns, “Into yourself?”

Cozy nods, “Yeah!

Twilight stares at Cozy for a moment, “Cozy, you’re not psychologically healthy!”

“Gee, what was your first clue?”

Twilight clears her throat, “No, what I mean is, you went into an alternate dimension inside yourself…”

Cozy frowns… “What?”

Twilight adjusts her mouth and nods, “I mean, we each have another place inside us…”

“What?” Cozy repeats herself…

“That dimension is within you and you traveled there!”

Cozy frowns, “Okay so, how did I get here?”

Twilight frowns, “Diamond explained it was a window?”

Cozy sighs, “Yeah, I saw a weird window and I saw another Ponyville behind it… I just kinda, jumped through it, glass and all!”

Twilight’s eyes widen, “Didn’t you cut yourself?”

“Golly, I knew to use a blanket, you know! Ratty thing I found under the bridge, but it worked!”

“Where did you live when you were inside yourself?”

“Shack on the East side of town!” Cozy leans towards Twilight, “But you never told me about this inner dimension?”

Twilight clears her throat again, “Well, as Haycart once discovered, books are doorways to other universes, right? But where do you think you begin, before you read?”

“I’m usually sitting in a chair!”

Twilight sighs, “No Cozy! What I mean is, in your mind… This other universe is completely all in your head! It was hostile and evil because of your current mental state!”

“You know, that still doesn’t explain how I was able to get back here!”

Twilight blinks and brings her eyes skyward, “Well, that’s a toughy! I mean, you say it was a window?” before adjusting them back to the light pink mare.

Cozy leans towards Twilight, “Hey, you think Tirek and Chrysalis are also trapped in hostile dimensions?”

Twilight frowns for the umpteenth time, “Probably? Uh, where was this window?”

“I’m finishing my sandwich first!”

Twilight sighs, “Oh, by all means! I mean, I don’t have a tight schedule or anything…“

Cozy smiles, “Just a sec!” before turning back to her plate, and chunking the half sandwich into her snout and happily munching all of it down…

As I stare at her, I come to understand that with my lover, the usual rules of etiquette no longer apply… Still, Twilight was here, so I daintily slide my plate forward and say, “I’ll finish this later!”

Obviously, Twilight is of no concern to Cozy… Who stares at her from the table, “Okay, lets go!”

I stare at the alicorn as we both stand on the dirt roads of Ponyville in the setting sunlight behind me… “It’s on the North end of town! It looks just like any other window and I really don’t know why it led me back to here?”

Twilight stares down at me in the dim light from the sky, “Well, I’d at least like to take a look at it! I mean, what house was it? Doesn’t anypony live there? Is there anything about this place’s history that might indicate it leads to an inner world? I have so many questions!”

I frown, “Well, I don’t know if we can get any answers?”

She sighs, “Well, we have to at least try! Lead the way Cozy! Show me where this window is!”

I turn and breath in, before breathing out… I take off and flap my wings to rise above the pavement and soon, turn my heading left to head north…

I’m pretty sure Twilight is behind me?

I turn my neck right and I see that she’s following…

I turn back and I see the road beneath me, as I drift forward in the air so free…

It’s not the same as before…

Flying in the other world was never like this! It was never this free!

I shake my head when I realize my turn is coming up and so I veer right to head up the road that direction…

Twilight should still be behind me…

I just keep flying forward and I don’t want to stop…

This is exhilarating…

I widen my eyes when I see the house in the distance!

Right on the corner… I soon turn my lips downward in concentration…

I land…

My hooves go clop into the dirt road…

I turn my head to look around, but I don’t see anypony…

“Twilight?” I call out…

I only see this dirt path through a neighborhood in Ponyville… Dimly lit as the sun sinks further and further down before me…

I am alone…

“There you are!” I hear a feminine voice say from the sky behind me!

I turn just in time to see a large purple alicorn descending to her four hooves on the ground in front of me…

She raises her gaze to me, “Why did you fly so fast Cozy? I don’t usually fly like that!”

I blink when I realize that I must’ve left her behind? “Uh, s-sorry Twilight… “

She shakes her head and stares at me, “So, this is the house?”

I turn and look at it… It seems perfectly ordinary… “Yes, out of this window, Twilight… You know, glass came with me into this dimension and there might be a shard or two somewhere on the ground, but after I came through, the window was unscathed! It wasn’t damaged at all, even though I was sure I just crashed right through it!”

It’s so strange, but I really don’t think Cozy is lying to me…

I turn my neck left to stare into the house and the lights are off, and I can’t make out anything inside…

I wonder if anypony lives here?

Why would it link with Cozy’s mind though?

None of this makes sense!

“Twilight? Are you okay?”

I turn back to the pink mare and say, “Uh, yeah Cozy!” then blink, “I-I’m fine… I just have a lot on my mind… “

“Wanna tell me what that is?” The mare asks…

“Y-yeah Cozy… So you were all alone in this other dimension inside yourself for years?”

“I really don’t expect you to understand?”

I sigh again, “Give it a try Cozy!” I stare into her brown pupils… “I know you were evil, but I really think we can make a better life for you and everypony involved… But I want to know more about where you came from… “

“Can we not, please? Don’t you at least wanna look around and check out this window?”

I shake my head, “Y-you’re right Cozy… “ I say before turning my neck back to the window…

It looks completely normal…

I suddenly realize that I need to learn more about who owns this house…
