Hey guys! Sure has been a while since I last posted a chapter here, and since all my classes have been cancelled for today I decided to write this~ Hope you enjoy chapter 4.

Chapter 4

An Apple a Day Keeps the Lyra Away

AppleJack trotted upstairs to the guest bedroom to wake Tyler up for his first day of work.  She opened the door and walked over to his bedside, giving him a gentle nudge with her hoof.

“Rise an’ shine Tyler, we got some work ta do.” She said into his ear, causing him to groan and roll over to face the farm pony.

“Awwww c’mon five more minutes…..” he replied pulling the covers over his head.

AppleJack smirked before she gave him another nudge with her hooves, only this time pushing him off the bed, causing him to fall to the floor with a loud thud.

“Ok ok I’m up!” he groaned before sitting up and rubbing his head.  He yawned and stretched as he stood up, cracking his neck and back before following the orange pony downstairs to the kitchen.

“Ah hope ya’ll don’t mind havin’ apples for breakfast, don’t really know what else you humans eat.” AppleJack said as she pushed a basket with several apples in it onto the table.

“Apples are fine I guess, good thing I enjoy fruit so much.” He replied before taking a bite out of one of the apples.

After Tyler and AppleJack finished their breakfast they went out to the barn where AppleJack pulled out an empty cart with several empty wooden buckets in them.

“Alright partner, today you’re gonna help me with harvestin’ the apples, Ah’ll buck the trees so the apples collect in these buckets, an’ ya’ll are gonna take the buckets and put the apples in the cart.  Think ya can handle that?” she asked, causing Tyler to nod in response.

“Alright then let’s get started.” She said before they went to the orchard, setting the buckets under the trees to catch the apples.  AppleJack turned her back to the tree and gave it a hard buck just as she always did, causing all the apples to fall into the bucket, filling it up quickly.

Tyler watched in amazement as the small earth pony had just knocked all the apples out of the tree with just one kick, he pulled himself out of his amazed trance remembering he had a job to do.  He hefted the large tub of apples up and carried it over to the cart, dumping the apples into it, turning to see AppleJack had already bucked three more trees, filling up the tubs with ease.  Tyler knew he’d have to step his game up to keep up with this farm pony.

As the day went on in Ponyville, a certain aquamarine unicorn was trotting around the market, dragging her friend along with her, much to her dismay.

“Lyra can we just give this human thing a rest? You are really starting to annoy me with this strange obsession.” Bon Bon said with a groan as she followed Lyra around the market.

“Bon Bon, you of all ponies would know how much this means to me! If you were my friend you would support me and try to help!” she replied as she looked around every nook and cranny she could in hopes of finding the new human of Ponyville.

Bon Bon sighed and rolled her eyes before trotting over to Lyra.  “Ok fine, I’ll help you.  If not just to help you get by this crazy obsession.  Now if you’d have paid attention last night we wouldn’t have to look around for him. Remember last night when Pinkie Pie said that he left with AppleJack last night?  Maybe he’s still at the farm Lyra.” She suggested, causing the unicorn to gasp loudly.

“That sneaky AppleJack!  She must want to keep the human all to herself!  To think you know somepony so well….” Lyra said, her voice laced with venom.

“Uhm Maybe you’re just over-reacting?” Bon Bon said taking a step back from Lyra, but her suggestion fell on deaf ears as Lyra started galloping towards Sweet Apple Acres, eliciting a sigh from Bon Bon.  “I have got to get new friends…..or a therapist for that pony….or both.”

Tyler was lying on the ground panting heavily, covered in sweat and dirt from the effort he had to put in to keep up with AppleJack’s work.  He wiped the sweat from his forehead as AppleJack trotted over with a glass of water.

“Well you’re not too bad sugarcube, but don’t go doin’ more work than ya’ll can handle, I know what that can do to ya.” She said as Tyler accepted the glass of water.

Tyler quickly drank the water, splashing some on his face, sighing as he started to cool down.  “I’m just not used to working so hard is all.  I tend to be lazy at times.”

“Gee ya don’t say…” she retorted with a hint of sarcasm and a chuckle.

“Hey doesn’t mean I won’t work when I have to.  And I kinda have to if I want a place to sleep and money to spend.”  He replied giving the mare a playful push.

“Ya got that right partner.  Now I just got one more thing for ya’ll to do then you can do whatever ya want.” She trotted into the barn coming back with a basket full of apples, setting them down in front of him.  “I need ya’ll to take these apples to Twilight at the library, don’t forget to ask for 5 bits.”

“Ok, guess I can do that.” He said before standing up and brushing the dirt off his jeans, grabbing the basket and heading towards town.

AppleJack turned to enter the barn but was face to face with a disgruntled looking Lyra.

“Oh howdy there Lyra, what can I do for ya?” she asked with a smile.

“Don’t give me that AppleJack….I know he’s here…..you just want him all to yourself don’t you?”  Lyra replied stepping closer to AppleJack, staring daggers at her.

“He?  What are ya’ll talkin’ about?”  AppleJack asked tilting her head to the side.

“The human!  Pinkie Pie told me you brought him here last night, you just want to keep the human for yourself!”  Lyra shouted, glaring angrily at AppleJack.

“Now hold on Lyra, this is just a misunderstandin’ I brought Tyler here cuz he needed a place to live and a job to make bits, why would I want to keep him all for mahself?”  AppleJack replied to the angry unicorn.

“Well if that’s true then where is he?!” Lyra asked, seeming less angry at AppleJack.

“Ah just sent him to town to take some apples to Twilight, maybe ya’ll can catch up to him.”

The very second AppleJack finished her sentence she saw an aquamarine blur heading in the direction of town.  AppleJack chuckled a bit as she watched Lyra dash towards the town in a speed that could rival Rainbow Dash’s.

“Ah hope that this won’t end badly….” She said before trotting into her barn.

Tyler whistled to himself as he walked into town, waving at several ponies who greeted him along the way.  He smiled as he enjoyed the attention of the ponies who were fascinated by him.  He walked up to the large tree where Twilight lived and ran her library, knocking on the door.  A few moments later it opened up but Tyler couldn’t see anyone, he looked around before a voice called his attention to look downwards.

“Whoa! You must be the human Twilight told me about.”

Tyler looked down and saw a small purple and green reptile walking on two legs like him, looking up at him with big green eyes.

“I’m Spike, you must be Tyler.” Spike said reaching his claw out to shake Tyler’s hand.  Tyler just looked down, not sure what to make of what he was seeing.

“Uhm…..are you okay?” Spike asked looking up at Tyler

“Dude……you are the biggest freakin’ iguana I have ever seen……”

“I’m not an iguana! I’m a dragon!” Spike said angrily.

“Yeah yeah, is Twilight here? I brought the apples AppleJack told me to bring.”

Spike grunted before turning and calling Twilight.  Twilight trotted over to the doorway smiling as she greeted Tyler.

“Oh hi Tyler, what brings you here?” Twilight asked looking to the apples

“AppleJack told me to bring these, and to remember to ask you for 5 bits.”

“Oh alright then, just a moment.” She said before trotting back into the house, leaving Spike and Tyler alone for a moment.

“So if you’re a dragon where are your wings?” Tyler asked looking down at the young dragon.

“I don’t have any, I’m just a baby dragon.” Spike replied.

“Well can you at least breathe fire?  That’s what makes the dragon.” Tyler said looking down at Spike.

“Of course I can.” Spike said before taking a deep breath, letting out a small plume of green flame.

“Well not really what I’d call dragon worthy but fire breath is fire breath….” He said, causing Spike to growl at him.

Twilight returned levitating 5 gold coins over to Tyler.  “Here’s the 5 bits Tyler, that’s the money we use here in Equestria.” She said as Tyler looked down at the shiny coins.

“Wow, gold coins?  Back where I live these would be worth a good bit in my money.” Tyler said looking at the coins.

“Well have a nice day; I have some studying to do.” Twilight said as she and Spike walked back into the library and closed the door.

“Well I better get back to AppleJack.” He said as he turned around, and saw a unicorn with a lyre on her flank staring up at him, grinning ear to ear.

“Uhm…..hi?” Tyler said, a little uneasy from the way she smiled at him.

Bon Bon trotted around Ponyville looking for Lyra, hoping she didn’t get into any trouble.  Recounting several incidents where her human obsession caused a few incidents in town.

“AHHHHHHH!!!!!!”

Bon Bon and several other ponies through the town heard a scream, they looked around for a few seconds before they saw Tyler running as fast as he could through the town, weaving around and jumping over obstacles and ponies.

“COME BACK HERE I NEED YOU!”  Lyra shouted as she galloped after him.

“LEAVE ME ALONE YOU CRAZY HORSE!” Tyler shouted as he ran through town with Lyra close behind him.

Bon Bon sighed and facehoofed mentally as she galloped after her friend.

“I need to put that pony on a leash….” She said as she followed Lyra

Tyler kept running and turned down an alley only to be met with a dead end.

“Dammit!” he said turning to see the crazy unicorn walking towards him, grinning menacingly.

“I finally have you….you are mine…..” she said as she stepped up to him.

“What are you gonna do with me….?” Tyler asked as he backed into the wall.

Lyra’s grin disappeared as she brought her hoof to her chin.  She thought for a couple moments before she looked back at Tyler.

“To be honest….I don’t even know….” Lyra replied

Bon Bon trotted over to Lyra glaring at the aquamarine unicorn.

“Dammit Lyra, what were you thinking chasing him around town like that?  You probably scared the crap out of him!”  Bon Bon said scolding Lyra.

“I-I’m sorry Bon Bon…..But you know how much it means to me that humans are real…..I just had to see for myself…” Lyra replied, looking down at the ground.

“Now apologize to him, you probably almost gave him a heart attack.” Bon Bon said looking at Lyra.

“I’m sorry….I didn’t mean to scare you….I just wanted to meet a human, it’s been a desire of mine for a long time.” Lyra murmured as she looked over to Tyler.

“Well….next time don’t approach me in a manner a psychopath would ok?”  Tyler said before standing up and patting Lyra’s head.

Lyra shuddered a bit and fainted, falling over onto her side with a look of pure bliss on her face.

“Uhm….is she ok?” Tyler asked looking to Bon Bon.

“She’ll be fine in about two hours….” She replied as she dragged Lyra home once again by her tail with her mouth.

Well it’s not much but I have been so busy with college lately so I can’t really write as much as I wish I could.  Constructive criticism is very welcomed, I will try to improve upon my work from any advice you guys give me.
