Friendship withered away that night, beneath the woven branches of the Everfree.

On the Eve of the Summer Sun Celebration, princess Celestia vanished. The celestial bodies halted in their tracks, and nothing has been the same since.

Everypony knows where she disappeared to. The Everfree forest. It has become so saturated with monsters and horrors that it is to be avoided. Magic fails to function properly near it, and the deeper one delves into it, the darker and more maddening it becomes. Hope has all but extinguished for a brighter future.

But Pinkie Pie never gave up. She never gave up even when everyone left for brighter lands, when they became content with this new existence.

The arrival of an old acquaintance, Twilight Sparkle, may be just what is needed to set the wheels of fate into motion. Forges will be fired up, blades will be sharpened, bodies will be needed and spent. They will have to make do with who comes to Ponyville, for they will cleanse the bottomless maddening pits of the Everfree once and for all.

And friendship might be just what is needed to survive such a place...
