The confrontation

Then next morning, Gallus went into the cafeteria and saw his friends having breakfast. He had already thought of a plan to get her to confess, so he went over.

“Oh hey Gally,” said Sandbar. Him and his friends were still looking a bit guilty for not telling him.

“Hey guys,” said Gallus, “Look I’m sorry I got really mad at you guys yesterday, I just, you know, felt a bit embarrassed and left out,” his apology was somewhat genuine but also fairly superficial at the same time.

“It’s okay, look guys shouldn’t we just tell him?” Said Smolder.

“We can’t!” Snapped Sandbar suddenly, “I mean maybe we can eventually but not today.”

But then Gallus says, “Oh no it’s fine guys, you don’t have to tell me if it makes you uncomfortable.”

“Aww really?” Said Yona.

“Yeah it’s fine, it’s just, there is still something else I’m a bit upset about,” said Gallus pretending to look sad.

“What Gallus upset about?” Said Yona again.

“It’s just…the school prom is coming up in a few weeks. And, well, I have no special some creature. And I can’t just go alone,” said Gallus.

“Why are you so sad about it?” Said Ocellus.

“Well I just wish I could go with someone, someone who had feelings for me, but unfortunately I don’t think any creature does have a crush on me,” said Gallus who was obviously lying and pretending to look sad.

“Ohh, don’t worry Gallus, I’m sure there’s some creature there for you. Sometimes you just have to be patient when it comes to stuff like this,” said Sandbar.

“Hey Gallus, there’s uhh…something I have to…tell you,” said Silverstream awkwardly.

“Omg this is it. She’s going to confess to me!” Said Gallus excitedly to himself in his head, “Yeah sure what is it Silverstream?” He said out loud.

“I…uhh…I…….Umm,” she said. She was trying to say it but nothing would come out.

“Go on you can say it.”

“I…uh…I think you did a good job on your project last week!” She said sheepishly. Obviously that wasn’t what she really wanted to say. But what she really wanted to say wouldn’t come out.

It also wasn’t what Gallus was expecting, so he was secretly disappointed, so he just said, “Oh, well, thank you,” and Silverstream just gave him a nervous smile. “I’m just going to the bathroom I’ll be back in a sec,” said Gallus.

“Okay.” And then as he walked off, Smolder got a bit annoyed at Silverstream.

“Why’d you have to blow it Silver? That was your chance,” said Smolder.

“I’m sorry. I tried to, it just didn’t come out right.”

Then Smolder saw Spike in the distance. “Hey Spike.”

“Yeah.”

“Could you maybe just come over here for a second?”

“Okay,” he said and then came over. “What can I do to help?”

“Remember how last night some creature was spying on us.”

Spike was still trying hard to not act suspicious since it was him. “Uh yeah,” he said.

“Well we were wondering if you could maybe help us with your detective skills to help us figure out who it was,” said Sandbar.

This was Spike’s worst nightmare, he was now going to have to pretend to investigate to cover up that it was him who did it. Obviously Smolder can never know because goodness knows what she’d do to him.

Spike tried to make an excuse, “Um, I’m sorry, but I’m really busy today, I need to help Twilight out with something.

“Oh yeah that’s okay,” said Smolder. “It doesn’t have to be today, it could be any time later this week.”

Spike really wanted to just slap his face right now. Then Gallus came back. “Everything alright?” He says.

“Yeah uh, we forgot to tell you Gallus, last night some creature was spying on us while we were talking about our crushes in our room,” said Smolder.

“Oh dear. Did you say who your crush was?”

“Unfortunately yeah,” said disappointed Smolder.

“Okay well don’t worry Smolder I’m sure Sunburst won’t find out you like him.”

“Yeah I suppose, and, wait a second?” Then Smolder gives him a sinister look. “How did you know it was Sunburst?”

Gallus now realised how big of a mistake he’d made. “Uh, lucky guess.”

“OMG OF COURSE! HOW COULD I HAVE NOT FIGURED OUT IT WAS YOU SPYING ON US!!! THAT EXPLAINS WHY YOU STOPPED BEING MAD AT US!”

“No. It wasn’t Gallus it was me,” said Spike, “And then I went and told him.”

Gallus knew it was obviously Spike, but he didn’t want Spike to get blamed for it since Gallus was the one who stupidly blurted out Smolder having a crush on Sunburst, so he decided to take the blame for it. “No it really was me. Spike’s just selling himself out to save me from getting in trouble. You don’t have to do that Spike, I should own up to my mistakes.”

“But, it was me.”

“Spike,” said Smolder, “Don’t sell yourself out to save him because we know that it was obviously Gallus who was spying on us.”

Meanwhile Silverstream was sneaking away feeling embarrassed that Gallus obviously knew now.

“Gallus, I’m very, very angry at for spying on us like that. You just couldn’t help yourself you,” said Smolder.

“Guys I’m sorry, I didn’t know it was me that Silverstream liked, so I didn’t understand why you guys weren’t telling me. Where is Silverstream anyway?”

“Probably ran off feeling humiliated. Now Gallus, since you were the one spying on us last night and know who our crushes are, I think you ought to tell us who your crush is now.”

“I actually do like Silverstream,” he said.

Smolder now had a mild look of surprise on her face. “You do?” She asked.

“Yeah.”

“Then why didn’t you just tell her as soon as you saw her this morning that you knew she liked you and you liked her as well?”

“Because then you guys would have figured out it was me spying on you. I mean you did anyway, but I didn’t intend for that to happen.”

“Well Gallus, you can’t just go around spying on your friends like that,” said Ocellus.

“I’m sorry. I promise I won’t do it again. Is there anything I can do to make up for it?”

Smolder did look unhappy about it but shrugged it off. “Don’t worry about it,” she said.

“Hopefully Silverstream hasn’t ghosted us, I mean she literally just snuck away and now we have no idea where she is. I better go find her and talk to her about it,” said Gallus.

“Well she can’t avoid us forever I mean we go to the same school as her.”

“That is unless she leaves the school,” said Sandbar.

Smolder actually looked a little concerned now. “Heh, I’m sure she won’t just leave the school because of this.”

“Yeah, of course she won’t, what was I thinking.”

“It’s strange because I’ve never seen Silverstream feeling so shy before,” said Sandbar. “Like usually she’s extremely hyper, full of energy and not shy at all.”

“Yeah, I suppose you’re right there,” said Gallus. “I’m going to go look for her.”

“Okay, bye.”

Gallus went over to the library as that’s where Silverstream usually was in the morning. He was keen to find her, and he looked through every section of the library. But no matter how much of the library he searched, he couldn’t find her anywhere.

Then the school bell went off which meant that now he had to get to class. “Goddamnit!” He said angrily.
