Queen of Trauma
Lots of questions
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWhen we arrived at Canterlot Castle, we quickly realized that we weren't alone. The royal throne room, usually quiet and serene, was filled with more ponies than I had expected.
Twilight glanced around, her eyes widening as she took in the gathering of familiar—and some unfamiliar—faces. “What did you need us for, Celestia?” she asked, her voice tinged with curiosity and concern.
Standing at the front of the room were Princess Celestia, the regal and wise ruler of Equestria, and Princess Luna, her sister who had returned from her time as Nightmare Moon. Princess Cadance was there as well, the Princess of Love, with her husband, Shining Armor, standing by her side. Along with them were Discord, the chaotic spirit who could never resist a good prank, and Tempest Shadow, the fierce former villain who had turned into an ally. But the most surprising of all were the two fillies—Winter Comet and Scarlet Petal—who stood next to Celestia. They were young, but there was an aura of quiet strength around them. I quickly realized that these were Celestia’s adopted daughter and son, and their presence added a layer of mystery to the meeting.
“Why did you call all of us in the middle of the night?” Rainbow Dash asked, rubbing her eyes with a hoof, clearly not a fan of being roused from her sleep.
Celestia’s expression softened. “I understand completely, Rainbow Dash,” she said gently, anticipating the complaint that had been coming. She always had a way of making others feel heard, even if they were a little cranky.
“Can we please get started?” Discord interjected, clearly more interested in what was happening than in the timing of the meeting. He was perched casually on a cloud, looking impatient as he twirled his tail in the air.
Celestia nodded, turning her focus back to the group. “I felt a surge of powerful magic,” she began, her tone serious.
“So?” Spike asked, his arms crossed. He didn’t seem as worried as the others, but I could tell that his curiosity was piqued.
Discord, ever the dramatic one, pulled out his eyes, rolling them in the air for effect. “It means someone has magic that doesn’t belong to them—or they’re far more powerful than they should be,” he said with a smirk, popping his eyes back into place as he floated down to sit on the floor.
“I suggest you wear the Elements at all times,” Discord continued, flicking Twilight’s nose playfully with his tail, clearly enjoying the interaction. “And Tempest Shadow should come to Ponyville to help you find this creature with magic.” His tone was almost mocking, but it was clear that he was giving serious advice, as he often did in his own way.
“Wait, what do we need the Elements for?” Pinkie Pie asked, bouncing up and down beside me. Her bright pink coat and bouncing mane made her almost impossible to miss, even in the tense atmosphere.
“You’ll use them to blast the creature,” Discord explained, conjuring a cloud of cotton candy, which he tossed toward Pinkie with a grin. She immediately grabbed a chunk and started chewing happily, undeterred by the seriousness of the conversation. “The Elements will either return the magic to its rightful place or make it disappear altogether,” he added, wiping his hands as if the situation were no big deal.
“We should gather more evidence first,” Princess Luna interjected, her voice calm but firm. She had always been the more cautious one between the two sisters.
Discord muttered sarcastically, “Yes, the last thing we want is a bunch of unicorns suddenly without magic.” He crossed his arms and glared in the direction of the princesses, clearly annoyed by their cautious approach.
Celestia gave him a look of mild reproach before turning back to the group. “We will gather information, but we cannot afford to wait too long,” she said. “Shining Armor, have the guards keep an eye out for any unusual activity. We don’t want to be caught off guard.”
“Of course,” Shining Armor replied immediately, giving a salute. His armor glinted under the soft light of the room, and I could see the determination in his eyes. He was always ready to protect those he cared about.
“Thank you for letting us know, Auntie,” Cadance said to Celestia, her voice full of gratitude and concern. She, too, had a calm yet commanding presence, much like her aunt, and I could see the protective streak in her as she turned to her husband.
“We’ll keep an eye out too, Mom,” Scarlet Petal added, her young voice steady but serious. She and Winter Comet seemed older than their years, and there was a maturity in them that spoke of experiences I could only guess at.
“I appreciate all of your support,” Celestia said, her voice softening as she looked at each of us. “Thank you all for coming on such short notice.”
The room was still for a moment, and then Twilight stepped forward, her eyes meeting Celestia’s. “Do we have any leads? Any idea where this surge of magic came from?” Her tone was one of quiet resolve, and I knew that she was already preparing to spring into action.
Celestia hesitated, her eyes flickering for a moment with uncertainty. “I have a sense that the magic is coming from somewhere deep within the Everfree Forest,” she said slowly, her gaze shifting to the distant mountains outside the castle windows. “But I cannot be certain.”
“Then it’s settled,” Twilight said, her voice steady. “We’ll head to the Everfree Forest at first light. We’ll bring the Elements and be ready for whatever we find.”
“Good,” Celestia replied, her eyes softening as she gave Twilight an approving nod. “You know what to do. And I will be here, keeping an eye on things from Canterlot.”
With that, the room seemed to come alive again as plans were made and final preparations began. Cadance, Shining Armor, and the rest of the group prepared to help in whatever way they could. As for me, I was still processing everything that was happening. A surge of magic, an unknown creature, and the mysterious force that threatened Equestria.
I had only just arrived in this world, but already I felt a deep sense of duty. A sense that I belonged here, and that I was meant to help in whatever way I could.
“Let’s be careful, everypony,” Twilight said, addressing the group one last time before we all made our way out of the throne room. “We don’t know what we’re up against yet.”
Discord chuckled behind us. “Oh, I’m sure it’ll be fine. After all, we have the Elements of Harmony on our side.” His voice dripped with sarcasm, but it was clear that he was not one to take any situation lightly.
