Ch 3: Rage of a Saiyan
It's been hours since Betoro and Polka Plum left their home, and Polka's hatred for the desert grows with every passing moment. The relentless sun beats down, causing her body to feel like it's boiling, while the sweltering air makes her constantly perspire. The seemingly endless expanse of sand creates the disconcerting illusion that they might be moving in circles.
'Why did I choose for us to go into the Bone Dry Desert?' Polka grumbled quietly to herself, feeling the parched sensation in her throat intensify. She longed for a refreshing drink of water.
As she glanced at Betoro, she couldn't help but wonder if her eyes were deceiving her. Despite the oppressive heat of the sun, her brother seemed completely unfazed. He strode on as if the harsh conditions of the desert were of no concern to him, while she struggled and wilted in the relentless sun.
Betorotto noticed that Polka Plum gazed at him with a puzzled expression on her face. "What?" Betorotto inquired, feeling uncertain about his sister's thoughts.
"You... look... completely... normal."
"Uh, yeah. Why wouldn't I be?"
That's when Betoro noticed Polka looked extremely thirsty, so he quickly grabbed his water sack and handed it to his sister. Polka's mouth fell open in shock at this. "You had... water,... this entire... TIME?! Why... didn't you... say anything?"
"You didn't ask and by the looks of it, you really need water."
As Polka gazed at the water sack in Beto's hands, her mouth began to salivate. Without a moment's hesitation, she swiftly snatched the water sack from her brother's grasp and took a long, refreshing swig. As she lowered the sack, she couldn't help but let out a contented sigh.
"Satisfied?"
"Yeah," Polka had finally quenched her thirst and was able to take a moment to rest and cool off. However, the group still had to locate the city that was rumored to be in the vicinity. "But how much farther must we travel? My hooves are beginning to hurt," Polka expressed with a tinge of weariness.
"Don't worry, sis. In fact, we are here." Betoro's words prompted Polka to hurry forward and reach the city to confirm her brother's claim, which turned out to be accurate.
"What is this place?" Polka asked her Saiyan Brother.
"It's called 'Klugetown,' and I thought I would never see this place again," Betorotto said in a disgusted tone.
"It seems like you are holding onto some negative feelings about this place. But if I recall correctly, you mentioned that this is only your second time here. It can't be all that terrible, can it?"
Betoro turned to make eye contact with Polka Plum and said, "Klugetown is a settlement of the Bone Dry Desert and far beyond the borders of Equestria. This means any regulations of Equestria will not be here. And don't get me even started with the merchandiser of this place."
"Ook," Polka examined the image closely, realizing that this location was no good. The acknowledgment filled her with a profound sense of disappointment.
As they approached the city, Betoro and Polka Plum knew they had to disguise themselves. "Is the makeup still hiding my spots?" Polka worried, unsure if her blue spots were still concealed.
Betorotto meticulously checked every area of his sister's body, ensuring that the makeup effectively concealed Polka's characteristic blue spots on her fur. "Yeah, you're all good, sis," Betoro remarked reassuringly.
As Polka fastened her cloak around her shoulders, she observed her brother, Betoro, mirroring her actions. As he secured the cloak around his frame, his long tail coiled around his waist, resembling a rugged belt fashioned from rope. With their cloaks in place and their hoods on, they proceeded to enter the bustling city of Klugetown.
Polka had anticipated seeing other ponies, but to her surprise, the place was devoid of any equines. Instead, it was populated by pigs, fish people, and a variety of other strange beings. Fortunately, Polka found comfort in having Betoro by her side, knowing that he would help shield her from any potential threats.
As the undercover unicorn and Equusbound Saiyan strolled through the bustling street markets of Klugetown in disguise, Polka carefully observed the eclectic array of goods on display. The items being sold were truly peculiar, sending shivers down Polka's spine at the mere sight.
After eventually locating a suitable spot to showcase their produce, they commenced peddling their farm-fresh vegetables to a diverse gathering of customers. In exchange for their wares, both Betorotto and Polka received gleaming golden bits from the various creatures in attendance. Amidst the hustle and bustle of Klugetown, one shining aspect stood out of this place, and that is the profit collected from each vegetable trade.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting the land in shades of deep orange and purple, Polka and Beto began preparing for their arduous journey to the Evertree Forest, the place their mother had instructed them to rendezvous. Just as they were about to set off, Polka noticed something odd in the distance.
Figures were approaching, and they seemed to be making a beeline for Polka and Beto. Betorotto spotted them too and swiftly motioned for his sister to take cover behind him. When the mysterious, reptilian-looking figures drew within fifteen feet, Betorotto stepped forward to engage them in conversation.
"Good evening. I regret to inform you that our vegetable supply has been fully sold. If you require fresh produce, I would recommend exploring alternative markets for your needs. Thank you for your understanding."
The reptilian-looking figures wore sinister grins as they chuckled, sending a chill down Betorotto's spine. It was clear that they had more nefarious intentions than simply taking their crop.
"Thank you for the offer, but we're not here for your greens," one of the figures sneered. "We've taken notice of your substantial earnings, and we have a little proposition for you. How about you share some of that wealth with us and you'll be on your way. Just so we're clear, it's not a request."
"If you are looking for money, get a job! This is our earnings for working and tending to our garden. And we aren't going to give you these bits just because you demanded us, guppy."
The eerie grins that had once adorned the face of the reptilian-like figure twisted into horrifying scowls. Beto had hit a nerve when he refused to hand over the trinkets. It was at that moment they brandished their daggers, sending shivers down Polka Plum's spine.
"If you won't willingly share the goods, we'll just have to take them by force," one of the reptilian-like figures menacingly spoke to the Saiyan. "You shouldn't have returned here, chimpanzee. Now, we'll be taking those precious golden bananas, one way or another."
Betoro faced the reptilian-like figures with a smirk and a bold statement. "You can go ahead and try, amphibians, but once I'm finished with all of you, you'll be nothing but salmon."
That got reptilian-like figures so furious that one of them charged at Betoro shouting, "We aren't amphibians! We are reptiles!" He hollered.
The reptilian-like figure lunged at the Saiyan with his menacing dagger, but Betorotto swiftly evaded the attack. With a swift motion, Betorotto disarmed the creature, sending the blade clattering away. Stunned, the reptilian figure turned to face Betorotto, only to be met with a powerful punch that rendered him unconscious.
"Get him!" the other reptilian-like figures bellowed as they charged towards Betorotto. Betorotto swiftly shed his cloak in response, hurling it at the oncoming attackers. As the cloak enveloped their faces, temporarily blinding them, Betorotto seized the opportunity and engaged them in combat.
Even though he detests starting conflicts, he has rigorously honed his Saiyan physique in preparation for any potential danger. With remarkable agility, he swiftly disarmed each reptilian adversary, deftly incapacitating them with a series of powerful blows. When one of the reptiles attempted to strike back with a recovered dagger, he overwhelmed his foe with a relentless barrage of lightning-fast punches, swiftly neutralizing the threat.
This maneuver, which he named "Meteoric Fists," proved as effective as it was awe-inspiring. As the last remaining reptile attempted to ambush him, Betoro unleashed his "Multiple Flaming Roundhouse Kick," searing his opponent with a scorching burn that propelled the reptile into a nearby building, ensuring that it would not rise again.
That's when he remembered that there were five reptiles there. Where was the fifth one? That's when he heard Polka cry out to him.
As he turned towards his sister, a chilling sight awaited him. The final reptile gripped Polka Plum's tail, suspending her in the air with none of her hooves touching the ground. This sight fueled Betorotto's anger, propelling him to step forward.
"How dare you hold my sister by her tail! Let her go, now!"
At that moment, the reptile brandished a second dagger, positioning it dangerously close to Polka's tail. "Don't move. Or your pony companion will bid farewell to her tail if you do."
Polka was on the verge of panic as she found herself sprawled in mid-air, struggling to break free from the powerful grip of the reptile. Despite her desperate efforts, she couldn't free herself. "Please, let me go... I don't want to lose my tail!"
"Keep struggling and you will." The reptile threatened.
Betorotto found himself with no other option but to go along with the reptile's demands. "Alright, I won't budge, but please release my sister," Betorotto implored, hoping that the reptile would see reason. However, the reptile's response was far from what Betorotto had hoped for.
"Apologies, but judging by your strength, I think I'll continue holding onto your sister's tail," the reptile smirked at Betorotto. "I have two requests for you first, and then I'll release your sister."
"I presume one of those requests involves handing over our money to you, am I correct?"
"Absolutely on the money, Chimpanzee! And the other request is that." As Betorotto turned, an unexpected punch to the face sent him crashing to the ground. Without warning, one of the reptiles launched a fierce attack on Beto.
"BETORO!" Polka shouted for her brother that have been brought down.
"Teach that Chimpanzee a lesson to never deny us again."
The air crackled with tension as the fearsome reptile, having brought down Beto with a single strike, poised to strike once more. But just as it lunged, a brilliant, magical beam lanced out, felling the creature in a single blow.
The source of the unexpected attack was none other than an enraged Polka Plum, held aloft by the reptile gripping her tail. "Enough!" she cried, before kicking out at the reptile's chest with all her might.
As the reptile reeled from the blow, Polka's voice cut through the air, filled with defiance. "Perhaps I should've taken your tail when I had the chance."
"Leave us alone!" Polka shouted, jumping into the air, and gathering energy for another attack. Suddenly, the reptile delivered a sucker punch to Polka's face, knocking her to the ground.
Betorotto's eyes widened in shock as he watched the scene unfold. Polka lay motionless on the ground. It was hard to believe that the reptile had just done what Betorotto thought it had.
"You... hurt my sister..." Betoro growled through gritted teeth, his eyes blazing with anger. It was an unfamiliar feeling, but the rage consumed him entirely. "No one... hurts... MY... SISTER!!!!!"
A deafening scream erupted from Betoro, echoing through the streets of Klugetown and sending shockwaves through the air. As the intensity of his fury grew, the temperature rose, creating a stifling heat that enveloped the area.
The reptiles, along with the recovering individuals, watched in a mix of awe and terror as a wave of Saiyan rage overtook the scene. Even Polka, in her regained consciousness, was astonished as she witnessed her usually calm and loving older brother succumb to an unprecedented fit of anger. The transformation into this frightening state left her utterly petrified.
Betorotto's piercing screams came to an abrupt halt, but a striking change had overcome him. His once ordinary form now radiated a brilliant yellow glow, his eyes shimmered with a vivid green hue, and his previously maroon hair had transformed into a mesmerizing shade of bright, golden yellow, turning Betoro into a blondie. However, there was no joy in this transformation - his countenance exuded nothing but deep-seated anger.
Betorotto swiftly intercepted the reptile's desperate blow, seizing its fist with ease. The heat emanating from Betorotto's hand was so intense that the reptile's own fist began to feel as though it were engulfed in flames. After a moment, Betorotto released its grip, and the reptile's hand was left steaming.
"He's radiating heat! How is he even doing that?!?" Despite the fear brewing inside them, they steeled themselves and charged at Betoro. However, Betoro was prepared for each of them.
Betoro effortlessly evaded the reptiles' attacks, as they were simply too sluggish to catch him. He swiftly landed a punch on one of the reptiles and simultaneously kicked two others. Betoro then launched a powerful ki blast that sent one of the reptiles hurtling back to the ground, leaving only one remaining – the one who had dared to punch his sister.
Betorotto cautiously approached the intimidating reptile, but stumbled and fell backwards in fear. "Wait please, I'm sorry, spare me!" pleaded the reptile, sensing the imminent danger.
Gathering his inner energy, Betorotto focused his ki into a brilliant sphere in his palm. With determination in his eyes, he lifted his charged arm, ready to unleash a devastating attack on the vulnerable reptile. However, as he released the concentrated energy, a mysterious force took hold of his arm, redirecting the ki beam into the sky, causing it to split the clouds as it soared upwards.
Betoro stood frozen as a shimmering cyan aura enveloped his outstretched arm, preventing him from unleashing his powerful beam directly on his target. Startled, he turned to find his sister, Polka Plum, with her horn aglow, using her magic to restrain him from striking down the reptile. Seizing the opportunity, the reptile regained its footing and urgently signaled to the others.
"Now's our chance, flee! The treasure doesn't matter anymore!" With that, the reptiles scattered in all directions, leaving only Betoro and Polka Plum behind.
As Polka's magical aura faded, she released her hold on Betoro and approached him with a mixture of fear and concern etched on her face. Despite her determination, Polka's fragile state was evident as she struggled to remain upright, and she would have succumbed to the ground if Betoro hadn't caught her in his arms. Even in this terrifying form, Polka's loving brother still remained.
Betoro's appearance had undergone a surprising detransformation. His once blonde hair had reverted back to its original maroon color, his green eyes had changed back to normal, and the intense heat that surrounded him had dissipated. Concerned for his sister, Betoro's focus was entirely on Polka, who was relieved to see that her brother's abrupt change had not resulted in harm to her.
"I'm okay," Polka reassured him, her eyes reflecting a mix of emotions as she leaned into her brother's chest. At that moment, she had feared that Betoro had turned into a monstrous entity, but she was now grateful to realize that it was still her protective older brother by her side. "Please, you have to tell me how you did that."
Betoro gazed at his sister, Polka, her eyes filled with a mixture of tears and curiosity. A moment of silence hung in the air before Betoro finally responded to her question. "To be honest, I don't have the answer," he admitted.
"Deep within the minds of both Polka Plum and Betorotto, a single mysterious question remained, shrouded in intrigue. What was the secret behind that elusive, golden-haired transformation? And why had it remained concealed in the depths of Betorotto's existence until this moment?"
