EG X G5 – I Can Be Your Champion

(Maretime High – Hallway)

It had finally came, the week before the first ever match of the new charity league. The players of the Maretime High Pegistars were bustling as they had to dress well for the party in smart casual. In the hallway, the Main 6 as they were often called, were enjoying their free period before they had to board the bus to the SFA Centre for the Preseason Party.

Putting her books away after a good history class, Sunny was called by her friends who were around Hitch as he was showing off pictures and videos of him and Sparky. “So, how did the conversation go Hitch?” Sunny asked.

“Well.... I was going surprise you all, but I convinced Grandma Figgy, I get to bring Sparky home next week!” Hitch squeaked in joy as he looked forward to bringing his new best buddy home.

“Ah! I gotta post this for the gram!” Pipp chimed as she aimed her phone to Hitch, who just smiled and without noticing, Zipp joined the photo, though Pipp saw her sister join in, causing her to giggle.

“Well come on guys! I really want this free period to end!” Zipp stated, but then she heard her mother calling for her, with a very elegant dress which made her bolt, with Izzy and Pipp going after her.

“Some things never change” Misty laughed, however Sunny seemed to be focused on Hitch.

“You mind meeting up with the others? Need to speak to Hitch in private” Sunny stated with a sad smile; however, Misty was already understanding and knew what she was going to say to Hitch and headed off to join the others.

As Hitch put his school bag away and grabbed his clothes bag to get ready for tonight, Sunny tugged his arm.

“Is everything okay?” Sunny asked, being childhood friends with Hitch since enrolling in elementary school, Sunny always knew when Hitch had something big on his mind.

“Y-yeah, I’m fine” Hitch quickly responded, though it was clear he was hiding something.

“Come on Hitch, we’ve been best friends for years, I know when something is up, you can talk to me” Sunny said sincerely.

Hitch sighed and closed his locker, “Okay, I may have something in mind, you're obviously, too good reading me" Hitch replied and tried to smile.

“As always Hitch” Sunny giggled.

“It's about Zipp” Hitch admitted and lowering his head.

“Why? You two are always getting along well, I even remembered the Fall Dance; you two were in-separatable that night” Sunny stated.

“Yeah, but a lot of people kept wondering if me and Zipp were an item, I tried to ignore it, but i started to believe them and when we won the final match and becoming champions, we hugged afterwards, I just…. felt something” Hitch explained and felt very vulnerable.

Sunny was immediately sympathetic, she never liked seeing her friends feeling down or hurt, “Oh Hitch, why don’t you tell Zipp how you feel?” she asked with worry.

“I can’t do it Sunny, and with the charity league starting soon, I can’t let a relationship cloud my judgement in the league” Hitch replied, though Sunny saw that it was a clear attempt to avoid the subject.

“If you keep this all inside you, it will hurt you Hitch and I know that if Zipp finds out on her own, she’ll just be as hurt” Sunny explains.

“But.... does she even like me, like I do with her?” Hitch asked, looking at Sunny with what she thought were tears in his eyes.

Sunny placed a hand on Hitch’s shoulder, “You won’t know until you ask her, and I promise I’ll have your back, no matter what” Sunny softly spoke and hugged her best friend.

“Thanks Sunny” Hitch replied and felt a little better, “Anyway, I better get ready, see you at the bus?” he asked to which Sunny nods.

However, Queen Haven arrived in panting breath, “Oh my dears, have you two seen Zipp?” she asked.

Sunny and Hitch looked at each other and shook their heads, Queen Haven rolled her eyes and kept on running after her daughter, which caused a few laughs with Sunny and Hitch.

(On the bus – Canterlot High Wondercolts)

The bus ride to the SFA Centre was full of excitement, a party and looking forward to the upcoming league. The Wondercolts were all eager to get their boogie on, especially Pinkie Pie, she even had emergency party supplies if the party was boring.

“You ready for a epic night, Wondercolts?!” Rainbow Dash called out to her teammates, and she got an epic response; showing their eagerness.

“I can’t wait to meet the players from Maretime High, I heard they’re quite the team” Sunset stated.

Fluttershy was as always timid and nervous, “I just hope, they’re nice; really don’t want to deal with another team like the Shadowbolts” she stated timidly.

“OH Darling! The Shadowbolts have gotten better since the Friendship Games and of course our fabulous music video” Rarity stated, trying to defend the Shadowbolts.

“Come on Rarity, when it comes to sports, the Crystal Prep Shadowbolts will always be the same” Applejack spoke bluntly.

“Hey, don't be so negative Applejack” a male voice spoke up, it was Flash Sentry, “I get we always will have our rivalry with the Shadowbolts, but even I have to agree with Rarity and that music video was awesome!” he states with his charismatic smile.

“Glad to know you're full of optimism Flash” Twilight spoke and adjusted her glasses again, “I’m 50/50 on the Shadowbolts, even during our final match, it got very intense, especially near the end” she adds.

“Yeah, but that's the past, we should look forward to tonight and of course the opportunity to help raise funds for the disabled students” Sunset stated.

Pinkie Pie meanwhile was too busy in preparing for tonight, even coming up with contingency plans if security was going to be present.

(SFA Centre – Party Event)

The party was in full swing, even before the players from Canterlot High, Crystal Prep and Maretime High arrived, they immediately got into a party mood and enjoyed the atmosphere.

“Wow, this party is absolutely lit!” Sunny beamed.

“Ain’t that the truth, this is going on the gram! Can't disappoint the Pippsqueaks!” Pipp stated as she began taking pictures of the party.

Sunny, Hitch and Zipp began to mingle with the other players from the rival schools, while Misty, Izzy and Pipp headed to the snacks table and tried some of the impressive spreads and drinks.

Soon, Sunny meets with Sunset Shimmer, “Oh hello, you’re from CHS?” Sunny asked.

“That I am, I’m Sunset Shimmer, Striker for the Wondercolts, you?” Sunset stated with a friendly smile.

“Sunny Starscout, Centre Attack Midfielder for the Maretime High Pegistars, very nice to meet you” Sunny replied and quite happy to friendly with a rival school.

“I like your dress” Sunset stated, trying to keep the conversation alive.

“Oh! my friend Pipp, helped design it. She has a knack for ‘fabulous’ works” Sunny replies with a giggle.

“I can relate, my friend Rarity is quite the same, she made all our dresses for tonight” Sunset explained and showed off the design of her dress.

“Well, I can say she’s quite the designer, I wonder if those two will get along” Sunny hoped, though Sunset pointed to the snacks table and saw Pipp and Rarity getting along well, talking about the world of fashion and social media influencing.

The night goes on well and despite the Crystal Prep Shadowbolts being sour sports at first, but eventually joined the festivities and began to mingle well with their rivals despite the passive aggressive attitudes from the captains Rainbow Dash and Indigio Zap.

However, the three teams noticed that only they were at the party and the three other teams were yet to arrive, soon the head of the SFA, takes the microphone, “Attention everyone, sorry to disturb the fun, just thought I’d give you all a heads up, our three remaining teams have arrived, be sure to welcome them warmly.

The doors soon open and to every Wondercolt, Shadowbolt and Pegistar’s intense shock, it was the three teams, they never thought they’d face.

“Please welcome, Premier League State, Bundesliga Academy and Ligue 1 High!” the head of the SFA announced.

Leading the Premier League State team was a dark blue haired, blue skinned tall lad, it was the school’s most loved and humble player; Manchester City. Leading the Bundesliga Academy team was a black haired, yellow lad was also the school’s most humble and loved player, Borussia Dortmund. Lastly leading Ligue 1 High was Paris St-Germaine, she was a blue haired and white hair with red bangs. Their teammates join them and immediately mingled with their rivals.

“Well, if it isn’t, my best rival in the leagues! Man City!” Borussia welcomed with open arms. Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund hugged it out, while they were some of the fiercest rivals, they were in reality; close friends and even played together growing up.

“How you been, Dortmund?!” Manchester City asked, enjoying the company.

“Been good man, was another year of being the academy’s runner up” Borussia stated.

“But another year, winning the Player of the Year?” City asked to which the two boys laughed.

“How’s the team?” Stuttgart asked, joining the conversation.

“Same as always, hardworking, determined and looking forward to another league to play the game we know and love” Liverpool soon also joined the conversation and fist bumped Stuttgart, sadly however......

“Well, well, if it isn't the Bundesliga Academy drags!” a female voice, and it was one Manchester City knew very well, it was his bratty, overconfident twin sister, Manchester United.

“Oh man, drop an anvil on my head......” City begged, and the others all felt the same.

However, another female voice rose up, “Don’t know you have another award to attach your name too after doing nothing since freshman year?” it was Bundesliga’s equal to Manchester United; Bayern Munich.

“Oh man, put me on a boat and shoot a fire arrow at me......” Borussia stated in a groan to which City stated he’ll join him on the boat.

It was clear that neither PLS and BA players, really didn’t hold either United or Bayern to a high standard, United was very know to be quite the player growing up, but as soon she entered high school, she was always out classed by her more humble brother, City which lead to her always attaching her name to everything City did, claiming since they were twins, they were a packaged deal.

Bayern Munich wasn’t much better, ever since she enrolled at Bundesliga Academy, she was a great player, but the most obnoxious girl around, she would flaunt her achievements, it wasn’t until Leverkusen, before she became the team’s goalkeeper, outperformed and put Bayern in her place, much to everyone’s delight.

“Don’t you two have anything better to do?!” Laverkusen shouted and finally got the bratty girls to bugger off. Bayern and United scoffed and walked off. “So surprised we haven’t dropped them” she stated in a sigh.

“Ah, ignore them, but great job on beating Munich, Laver” City states which made Laverkusen blush and twirl her hair.

Dortmund, Liverpool and Stuttgart rolled their eyes, “Unknowingly smooth as always” Liverpool stated, it was clear City was a great player, but not so well in reading girl’s emotions or actions.

The night was going well, and it showed no signs of stopping yet.
