"I'm going to end this like I should have done before. I draw!" Gold drew his first card. "I activate Graceful Charity. So now I draw three cards, and discard two." Gold drew his cards and carefully chose the two cards to send to the graveyard. "Then I activate To Ashes. You probably remember this card from our first duel, and with three Phoenix monsters in my graveyard, I can summon three Ash tokens." Three piles of Ash appear on the field. "Now I Dimension Summon, Gold-Eyes Crimson Dragon using two of my Ash Tokens, and adding all my spirit into it!" The two piles of ash swirl into the air as fiery wings spread out. Gold-Eyes bursts from the tornado of ash and lands on the field.

"And I'll use its effect to destroy your Dark Effigy and have it gain its attack." Crimson Dragon lets out a deep roar and shatters the Dark Effigy.

The general gets a small smirk. A tinge of fear goes through Gold but his spirit quells it. "This is almost where we were during our first duel. But things will play out different! I activate From the Ashes. If I control an Ash Token, I can send it to the graveyard and summon out a Phoenix monster from my graveyard. But its banished when it leaves the field." The pile of ash ignites with a white flame. "Now arise, Diamond Phoenix." The white flames explodes into a phoenix made of diamonds and surrounded in white flames.

"Now, Gold-Eyes, destroy his Dark Extractor! Flaming Destruction!" Gold-Eyes releases a powerful fire blast. Darkness General is pushed back slightly from the shockwave.

"Nice shot but this will make you regret it. I activate Spirit Link. This Trap makes it so if a monster on my field is destroyed i can choose a monster to be destroyed at the end of your turn. So I choose your Gold-Eyes."

"Nice try. I activate swap to change your target to Diamond Phoenix."

"Why you little!" The general starts to feel angry at Gold's tactics. "I will still do some damage to you. I activate Explosive Destruction, a familiar card. This Trap makes it so that if a monster is destroyed at the end of the turn, you take damage equally to double its original attack."

"Too bad for you, my Diamond Phoenix won't be on the field during the end phase. I tune my level 4 Diamond Phoenix with my Level 8 Gold-Eyes Crimson Dragon! I synchro summon..." Diamond Phoenix turned into 4 green rings that surround Gold-Eyes, which turns into 8 orbs of light. "Arise! Crystalized Phoenix Dragon!" A column of light shoots down onto the field. Giant wings of white fire spread out and a dragon made of diamonds scales and golden light shinning between them lands on the field.

This card cannot by Synchro summoned unless by a "Phoenix" tuner monster. When this card is Synchro summoned, banish as many "Phoenix" monsters in your graveyard as possible, then destroy that amount of cards on you opponents field.

"Now by banishing one of my Phoenix monsters in the graveyard, I can destroy that face down of yours." Phoenix Dragon released a powerful golden light that destroyed the face down. "I end my turn there with two face downs."

The general starts to get angry. "You will pay for that. I draw." He draws his next card. "I will summon out my next copy of Dark Extractor." Another Extractor takes the field.

Rainbow scoffs. "Do you have any other strategy?"

"Stay quite you pest! You were saved by this fool when you were terrified of my power. Now you will all experince the power of the Shadow King! I then activate Shadow Mastery."

When you declare an attack with a Dark attribute monster. Reduce your opponents monster's attack to 0. You must control a Dark Attribute monster or destroy this card.

"Now my Dark Extractor can attack, even if its a small amount of damage, I will still make you feel pain!" Dark Extractor strikes Phoenix Dragon with its needle. Phoenix Dragon's attack drops to 0 and is destroyed in a shockwave.

"Then I activate The Ties that Bind. This makes it so that when a monster is destroyed, its owner gets hit with half of that monsters original attack as damage."

"You think your so tough, so clever. You were supposed to fall at that seal but that spirit of yours wouldn't let you. But now, I can make sure you get buried in front of all these people! I activate my Grand Darkness. If I successfully attacked with a Dark monster this turn, I can banish it to summon my ultimate beast! Come forth... " Dark Extractor is struck by a bolt of dark lightning and sent into the sky. "Master of the shadows! Grand Beast: Shadow of Extinction!" The sky explodes with purple lightning. It strikes the ground, people barely dodging in time. The shadows converge onto the field, and form a giant beast of stone. A being of pure darkness, taking on the shape of a giant statue of a knight, armed with a scythe the size of a building.

All the cards in his deck are shredded into pieces and explode in front of him. He is sent flying back and hits the ground with a massive impact. His life points start to drop...

But then... "I activate Nutrient A." Gold shakily activates his face down.

"Because..." Gold gets up, his old wounds having opened up. "I have something to fight for."

"Well then you still lose once your turn starts, with no cards to draw, you will deck out and fall to my power. So now I-"

"I activate my face down!" Gold's face down is surrounded by light as it flips up. A symbol of a phoenix feather appears on Gold's right arm. "Guardian Seal: Arise Grand Hero!"

If you opponent controls a Shadow Attribute monster, special summon "Unleashed Guardian Solaris" in attack mode.

Light pierces the darkness around the area. "Now I will use its effect to summon out Unleashed Guardian Solaris!" A sword of light and flames pierces the field. A figure with golden armor, wings of fiery red flames and the symbol of a phoenix feather on its chest descends and grabs the blade.

"Darkness General you shall fall here!" Solaris releases a war cry.

Solaris is empowered by all the cards in the graveyard. "Now Solaris, strike down this dark beast and send this general back to the shadows! Go, Flames of the Lost!" Solaris' blade becomes surrounded by flames and he flies at the Grand Beast. With a mighty slash, he slices through the creature. Light pours from the wound as it grows along the beast. Solaris continue slicing through the beast, more wound appearing and being filled with light. The shadowy beast explodes in a grand ball of light. The Darkness General flies back from the attack.

"No! This can't be!"

"This is where you are wrong, foul beast. This is the power of the Guardians!" Solaris slices through the general, turning him back into shadows. "Begone!" He stabs into the ground and disrupts the Dimension Duel, turning the area back to normal. Once everything has returned to normal, Solaris disappears an Gold's glowing mark fades.

The crowd silent from the intense battle explodes into cheers. Everyone starts to rush towards Gold, but his injuries were even more severe now, he collapses onto the ground. Rainbow Dash and Applejack immediately grab and carry him out of the area and to the hospital.

A week has passed and Gold remains in a coma. His new friends, although he doesn't quite know that yet, take turns visiting him to make sure he is ok. Sunset has stayed the longest out of anyone, feeling an unknown connection to Gold. She sits by him one day and just starts talking. "I'm not sure if you can hear me Gold, but I think I should just talk to you." She sighs. "I wasn't the same girl you met before that time. I was mean, hurtful, almost evil. But I was saved by a group of friends. They helped to show me the truth about friendship, but... I'm not sure if I got past what I did. I still need to pay for what I did to everyone." She starts to tear up, but then wipes her eyes and chuckles. "Now I'm talking to a guy that I'm not even sure can understand me. But... I felt something when we met. Like a connection only between the two of us." She lets out another sigh. "I hope you wake up soon, so I can actually talk with you."

Sunset is about to leave when she finds a Duel Monster's card on the ground. She picks it up to find it to be a blank monster card. She places it in her pocket, a small sliver of light shining from it as she leaves the room. A small voice fills her mind. "Help find the others Guardians... Bring them together and be the hero you wish to be..." Sunset looks around but sees no one. She shakes her head, not really believing the voice but a part of her want to follow the words it spoke.
