Daniel Book 3- Life in Ponyville

"Daniel!" Ditzy yelled at the tree, Daniel groaned and and rolled out of the tree.

"Good morning Ditzy." He said, wiping the sleep out of his eyes.

"Good morning Daniel, you do realize that you have to get to the school, right? It starts in about ten minutes." Ditzy replied.

"Oh, right, I forgot I said I would, okay, where is it?" Daniel asked, still not feeling completely awake. He pulled out some dried venicin from his pack, and ate it.

"Over there, just beyond those trees,you'll see a playground and it has a bell tower with it, you can't miss it." Ditzy said. Daniel nodded, and began walking over.

"Good morning class, I hope you all had a wonderful break! Now, before we get started today, we have a new student, so let's make him feel welcome, why don't you introduce yourself!" Cherrilee said, she recognized all the students faces, but she was told one more would be joining class today. Daniel chose that moment to walk through the door, and Cherrilee screamed.

"What! What is it?" Daniel said, getting into a defensive stance whipping out his sword, and turning around, seeing nothing, he shrugged and sheathed his sword. "Why did you scream?" Daniel asked. He held his hand out to help Cherrilee up off the ground, Cherrilee looked up hesitantly, and got up on her own.

"W-why do you have that sword?" Cherilee asked.

"Trust me, if I could leave it ut of the classroom I would, but if I set it down it just returns to me. watch." Daniel put the sword on Cherilee's desk, and it disappeared, returning to his sheath.

"Why are you in this classroom?" Cherilee asked, still slightly afraid.

"I was told to come here for school, you must be Ms. Cherilee, hi, my name is Daniel!" Daniel said cheerfully, holding out his hand, Cherilee shook it carefully.

"Well, alright Daniel, why don't you introduce yourself to the class." Cherilee told him.

"alright," Daniel faced the classroom full of whispering foals and fearful faces, "Hello everybody, my name is Daniel, and I know close to nothing about Equestria." Daniel waved, a few foals waved back, including Applebloom.

"Well Daniel, there's a spare desk by Diamond Tiara there, why don't you take it?" Cherilee said, trying her best to sound supportive.

"Uh, I don't know if I'll fit in the desk." Daniel said sheepishly.

"The desks are enchanted, you'll fit unless your fifty feet tall." Cherilee said.

"Oh, alright." Daniel sat in said desk.

"Uh Ms. Cherilee, do I have to sit here? That sword of his scares me." Diamond Tiara said fearfully.

"Yes, sorry Diamond, but you'll just have to understand that not everypony can have their way." Cherilee replied. A few kids snickered in the back, Daniel pretended not to notice.

"Alright class, who here can tell me who originally created Equestria?" Cherilee asked. Daniel raised his hand.

"Yes Daniel?"

"It was Faust." Daniel said simply. Cherilee nodded.

"Yes, it was, now who can tell me who were the first two ponies to be created. A few hands went up, including Daniel's. "Daniel." Cherilee said, she was asessing his knowlage.

"Celestia and Luna." Daniel said. Cherilee nodded once again.

"Very good! Now who can tell me the name of the Country next to Equestria?" Daniel Raised his hand yet again. Cherilee nodded at him.

"The Griffin Empire."

"What is the name of the first great enemy to pony kind?" Cherilee was talking directly to Daniel.

"As in one pony, or a concept?" Daniel asked back.

"A pony."

"That would be Nightmare Moon." Daniel said.

"Where did Nightmare Moon come from?"

"She was Luna, but an evil hatred set in her heart because nobody would enjoy her night, so she tried to make the night last forever."

"Correct, what is the name of the weapon used to both banish her to the moon, and redeem her?"

"That would be The Elements of Harmony."

"Correct, who are the current holders of the Elements?"

"That would be Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Applejack."

"Correct, who is the queen of the changeling army?" Daniel shrugged.

"I don't know."

"That's alright, not everypony does, What's the difference in the bone structure of an earth pony compared to a pegasus?" Daniel shrugged again.

"I don't know."

"Alright, that's fine," Cherilee changed tactics, "What's four plus sixteen?"

"Twenty one, I think."

"No, It's twenty." Cherilee said. She had a pretty good base on what Daniel knew and didn't know.

"Alright class, let's begin, today we're going to learn about cutie marks, and the magic behind them." Cherilee said.

"Again? We learn about this every year!" Diamond complained. Daniel raised his hand.

"Yes Daniel?"

"What's a cutie mark?" Daniel asked. Several ponies gasped, and a couple snickered.

"You don't know what a cutie mark is?" Cherilee asked, Daniel shrugged.

"A cutie mark is the mark on your flank that tells other ponies what you're good at." Cherilee said, a little disbelievingly.

"Sorry, but my kind doesn't get those."

"Oh? and what exactly are you? Other than a freak of course." Diamond snickered, Daniel chuckled slightly as well, to Diamond's surprise. "What are laughing at?" Diamond asked suddenly.

"Your joke, it made me laugh, I guess I am a freak, I mean when I first came here, I was wierded out, where I come from, ponies are beasts, like rabbits and bears, so imagine going to a land where all the people are rabbits, and they all talk, and they didn't have any ponies, wouldn't you be wierded out? But the thing is, you would be the abnormal one there, not them, so I guess that makes me the natural definition of, a freak." Daniel said, explaining what he found funny in her statement.

"You're still a wierdo." Diamond muttered.

"That's the same thing." Daniel said, chuckling once more.

"Well, I guess we should get started on cutie marks." Cherillee said, seeing that everypony had settled down. 'This is going to be a wierd year.' She thought to herself.
