Daniel Book 3- Life in Ponyville
Chapter Two- Training
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe school bell rang, everypony got up to leave, Daniel got up, now knowing a bit more about pony anatomy, and a bit more on the science behind magic, (no pun intended). Everypony left the classroom save for Daniel, Cherilee, the cutie mark crusaders (yes, they have their cutie marks, but they still run the club house, organizing events for new blank flank fillies to do with them), Diamond Tiara, Snips, and Snails. Diamond huffed by Daniel.
"Go crawl back under whatever rock you came from freak." She said, Daniel cracked a smile, he was going to get alot of entertainment as long as she tried to annoy him. The moment she left the room, Daniel guffawed.
"What is so funny Daniel?" Cherilee asked.
"If that Diamond Tiara girl keeps on trying to insult me, I won't be bored for weeks! It's always fun to see others try to be mean, but fail miserably. It always gives me a good chuckle." Daniel said, Cherilee looked at him as if he had just grown a second head.
"So, you find it funny that Diamond Tiara bullies you?" Cherilee asked. Daniel shrugged, then nodded.
"Pretty much, trust me, I've been through worse than some nobody I don't know calling me a freak, well, see you later I guess Cherilee." Daniel called back, Cherilee's eyes widened at the use of her name without a title.
"Young man, come here!" She said sternly, Daniel rolled his eyes, and turned around once again, standing at full posture.
"Yes? Did I do something wrong ma'am?" Daniel asked shrugging. Cherilee looked upwards at him.
"I need you to tell me something, how old do you think I am?" Cherilee responded in absolute seriousness.
"I don't know, how long does an average pony live for?" Daniel asked.
"300, to 350 years. We mature quickly for the first seven years, then we stop maturing so quickly, we age much slower after that." Cherilee said, Daniel shrugged, not surprised at the long life.
"I don't know, maybe, 90?" Daniel made a rough estimate.
"I'm actually 87, how old are you?" She asked, Daniel didn't get the point behind this, but spoke anyways.
"I'm thirteen, fourteen on the date of September 20, and I live forever." Daniel said simply. "Um, Cherilee, I'm going to be late for practice, and if that happens Nightshade might rip my head off." Daniel added, glancing at the clock hanging on the wall, the kids had all left now.
"Wait, you're only thirteen? How fast does your kind mature? If you live forever, you must grow to massive heights!" Cherilee said, now worried.
"Uh, no, we don't grow much more after this, I might get some facial hair though, I don't exactly know, I might look like this forever for all I know, actually that wouldn't be so bad, looking like a thirteen year old forever, that would be pretty awesome, I guess I'll be a kid for a long time no matter what." Daniel said. Cherilee exhaled a sigh of relief.
"Alright, well, the point I was getting at, is that I'm your elder, and your mentor, so I would prefer if you used a term of authority when speaking ot me, any will do, even Pipsqueak calls me Captain, so just remember then." Cherilee said. Daniel nodded, then thought, remembering Gilda's annoying habit, he spoke.
"You got it Boss!" Daniel said cheerfully, and exited the classroom. Snips and Snails were outside, waiting for Daniel to come out.
"Wow dude! You're awesome!" Snips said.
"Oh yeah eh." Snails agreed, talking a little slower than Snips.
"Oh, uh thanks, listen fellas I gotta head over to the Everfree and start up my training, so if you'll excuse me." Daniel turned and left the two to themselves.

Daniel reached the edge of the woods, and looked in, he was told to enter the forest and to join them in practice, they never exactly said, where in the forest, Daniel shrugged, and grew his tail to protect himself from timber wolves. He stepped inside, suddenly a shadow was over him, he ducked, when Nightshade landed in front of him. "Captain! You scared the shit out of me." Daniel said.
"Where were you today?" Nightshade said bitterly.
"School." Daniel replied.
"School? How old are you? You look at least fifty." Nightshade said.
"I'm thirteen." Daniel said plainly.
"Oh, wow, kid, you are young, how long is your life span?" Nightshade asked.
"Forever." Daniel said.
"Oh, well, uh, let's get going, follow me." Nightshade said, then dashed off into the woods, Daniel followed the dust cloud she left in her wake. Eventually he reached a large crater, caused by him himself. "I found him!" Nightshade called. Charger flew down, followed by the others, Charger came up to Daniel and began talking.
"Kid, we've been waiting to train you for a week. Where have you been?" Charger asked cooly.
"Uh, going on a quest to the temple of war, oh and school started today, I am only thirteen you know." Daniel said, Charger just shrugged.
"Let's get started, so who get's to teach him first?" Starry Skies said.
"Well, we need to get him into his suit, although, I don't exactly know if it will fit him, it's built for ponies." Nightshade said.
"I can help with that," Daniel said, "My friend Rarity can adjust it so it will fit."
"Alright kid, Charger will start you off with the basics of landing." Nightshade said. Daniel shrugged.
"Alright, now kid, you already know how to land without crashing right?" Charger said.
"Pretty much, I have to run when I hit the ground though." Daniel replied.
"Okay, I guess I'll tell you a secret to landing, when you come down, tilt your hind hooves back, like so." Charger leaned slightly backwards, and Daniel saw his hooves were pointed up. Daniel did the same with his back feet, Charger shook his head.
"What?" Daniel asked.
"You're bipedal, it won't work, you need all four legs." Charger said simply. Daniel shrugged, and changed into his full alicorn form.
"Uh, so, you going to change into an licorn every time you have to land? Because that would be an awesome trick to see." Charger said, nodding his approval.
"I guess so, now like this?" Daniel pointed his back hooves upward.
"Kid's got it, now let's try that while actually flying." Charger said, and took off, Daniel changed back into his human form and took off himself, throwing himself into the air to get a good speed, then flapping his powerful wings to get going after Charger, who Daniel learned, wasn't the fastest, Daniel easily caught up with him.
"Okay, so just shift, then land?" Daniel asked, Charger nodded. Daniel closed his wings, and shut his eyes, and began to plumet, he quickly changed into his pegasus form, and flapped to slow the fall, he landed, at an angle, his hind hooves pointing upwards. He didn't even skid.
"Great job kid, you're a natural born flyer. No pun intended of course." Charger said.
"Thanks, now what's next?" Daniel asked. Charger shrugged.
"He's got landing down." Charger said, Blueball Blitz spoke up.
"Hahaha, can I teach him how to take off at high, HEH, speeds?" She said with a couple of large twitches.
"Sure, Blueball, show him how." Nightshade said.
"Hahaha! It's easy, you just jump with you back legs as hard as you can, while giving a strong flap, and then you just--" She wooshed passed Daniel and up into the air. Daniel shrugged himself, then jumped, hard, and with a flap of his wings along with it, he was next to Blueball Blitz in two seconds. "See, HEHEH, it's quite, HA, simple!" She said cheerfully.
"It is quite simple!" Daniel said with a proud smile. They both flew down, and met with the others.
"We're done for today with you, you just learned the basics, next time will be easy feats and tricks. So scram." Nightshade said, coming towards Daniel, when she was close by, she added in a whisper, "Great job kid, you did better then I did the first time." Daniel smiled a little, then kept a straight face, and walked out of the forest.
