The Changeling and the Protege

The Invasion of Canterlot and a noble soul ejected from the city

Base of bridge to the tower holding the elements of harmony’s artifacts

Fang and his brothers and sisters had surrounded the elements of harmony in front of the tower that held their weapons. Fang was currently copying Rainbow Dash’s movements before shoving her to the floor.

“How did-?”

Rainbow dash began to question as a small group of changelings behind Fang began to transform into her exact copy. Twilight watched in horror as she saw every changeling become an exact copy of her friends, both in appearance and in voice. After Dash got up, Twilight reminded her about their special powers.

“Their changelings remember!”

A second later, five Twilights spoke in unison in a mocking tone.

“Their changelings remember..”

Twilight spoke in a rallying tone, giving her friends confidence.

“Don’t let them distract you! We have to get to the elements of harmony, they’re our only hope!”

Shortly after a massive brawl erupted between the group, many changelings taking serious hits to the face while twilight slammed a changeling, disguised as Applejack, face first into the marble floor. Fluttershy was so scared that when a group of her approached her, she managed to trick them into thinking that she was one of them unfortunately a group of Rainbow Dashes stood in her way as she attempted to flee. Rearing up to strike her, a single Rainbow attacked the group of fakes after pretending to be apart of them, knocking them out.

Eventually it became a few minutes before many changelings were knocked out/or left on the floor whining in painful agony. Rainbow’s eyes narrowed on an exact copy of her still standing if just barely, Twilight used her magic to keep it from moving as Rainbow charged in and land a strike onto the right side of their face. The strike forced the fake Dash to stumble from the hit, a soft crunch of chitin and bones sounding out as the changeling in disguise cried out in pain, dropping their disguise as a large imprint of half a hoof was left on their face while the other have had damaged the bugs cornea. The changeling fell onto their stomach as their right vision became a dark green before feeling liquid floor from their face. Reaching up with a left hoof they gathered a good amount of liquid leaking from their right side before checking what it was in their left, their eyes going wide as green blood was on their chitin hoof. Looking up, the changeling saw his attacker shaking their hoof slowly at the mess on their hoof. The changeling grew fearful for his life, not being a warrior class drone but a simple miner drone. The queen promised an easy win… not this…

Rainbow Dash and the group looked at the changeling that was still conscious. Walking slowly up to it, the changeling instinctively backed away from them only for their hind legs to hit the edge of the railing. The group was slightly divided on the situation, the former aggressor of the initial fight having cowering before them. The changeling knew that no other changeling would be coming to stop them other than the ones in the main towers waiting to ambush them. The group of mares felt different about how the changeling was acting towards them; Rainbow Dash was sneering at the wounded and fearful changeling, Fluttershy was perturbed at being the one that made any other creature anxious, Rarity was odium about the creature and hardly felt any guilt towards its change in attitude, Pinkie Pie was conflicted on what was going on with the situation, Applejack was pitiless towards it for the way it tried to hurt her friends and lastly Twilight had conflicted feelings on the situation. Twilight on one hoof hated what the changelings are doing to the city and to princess Celestia but on the other hoof she felt that the changelings are following a bad leader with blind obedience.
Rainbow Dash reached down and grabbed the changelings neck before lifting them up onto their hooves before slamming their head into their face, giving both a bloody nose.

“Rainbow!”

Fluttershy shouted in shock, rushing between the two before spreading them apart. Twilight and Pinkie got between the changeling and Rainbow while Rarity and Applejack came to Rainbows side.

“What were you thinking! The changeling is defenseless!”

Twilight shouted at Rainbow Dash from witnessing the brutal attack on the changeling and the uncalled for abuse. But Rainbow Dash responded to Twilights accusations.

“The changeling would done the same thing to us! We can’t show mercy!”

Applejack spoke up, adding her input to the argument.

“Them varmints are trying to invade and enslave us! We need to squash them to paste!”

Pinkie Pie looked between the two, seeing the badly injured changeling try to crawl away before looking at her friends. Rarity began to add her side into the conversation, although being far more concerned about their fashion rather than the uncalled for behavior of Rainbow.

“Darling, these disgusting abominations are all completely uncultured and barbaric. They have no sense in fashion which is a crime I cannot even forgive…”

Fluttershy looked at both sides of her friends before moving over to join Dashes side. Twilight was appalled at her willingness to accept the brutality as the right choice, which thankfully Fluttershy spoke up to give her side of why she switched sides.

“They um… would have d.. done worse twilight…”

Rainbow Dash then spoke up with harsh criticism of Chrysalis, making Pinkie Pie doubt herself.

“Those bugs would probably have banned parties… if they even had parties to begin with…”

Pinkie Pie, simple as she was, couldn’t live without parties so she joined Dashes side leaving twilight to her own side.

“Not you too Pinkie…”

Twilight couldn’t believe that all her friends were ether willing too or were convinced otherwise to take Dashes cruelty as the morally right side.

“This is morally wrong! Why are you all willing to go far as… as…”

Twilight looked up, seeing a swarm of changelings slowly flying towards them, causing twilights eyes to widen.

“We’ll talk about this later! We got to go!”

The rest of the mane six saw the threat and ran with Twilight to the tower, opening it to be surrounded by changelings.

Fang was surrounded by a few of his brothers and sisters while others were with the unconscious and still half conscious survivors. Twilight and her friends were slowly being led through the fallen allies, suddenly the new brothers and sisters began to execute the fallen, by snapping their necks. Twilight and her friends were horrified at how cruel they were to eachother until a single changeling shouted in anger.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? They are our brothers and sisters!!!!!”

Two drones lifted the one changeling that shouted at them, revealing the changeling that was recently assaulted by Dash, a single drone bucked their hind hooves into their chest. Twilight and her friends winced in pain as they hey heard the changeling scream out in pain, Twilights eyes widen as the changelings chest chitin was cracked heavily. The other changelings chuckle, hearing their weaker brethren cry out in pain. The changelings head went limp from the pain as the changeling that bucked their chest faced them before raising their head with a hoof, seeing the injury on his eye. The changeling chuckled before speaking, the voice of the bug sounded ruthless.

“What a weakling you are Fang… how a mining drone survived this long is absolutely unbelievable, I will love to make a great example of you…”

Fang growled, spitting in the changelings face, the over confident changeling backed away as Fang spoke up.

“Go fuck yourself Pharynx!”

Pharynx looked up at Fang before wiping the bloody spit from his face before speaking up.

“Still a fighter with the odds against you… I’m impressed. The queen will enjoy the pleasure to execute you with these ponies.”

A changeling shoved Fang to the group of ponies, landing infront of Twilight and Rainbow Dash. Rainbow spoke up first, looking at the changeling called Fang.

“You got guts bug boy…”

Twilight leaned down, helping Fang up to his hooves as the changelings led the group toward the castle. Twilight tried to assist Fang to his hooves whenever he fell, only for his hoof to push her away gently.

“Please… don’t… let me die with some semblance of pride…”

Fang said weak as he got up, Applejack felt guilty of the changeling while admiring their stubbornness to take any help. The changeling reminded her of when she tried to farm the whole apple farm alone. Only when her friends helped her that she was able to get it done on time. Trotting over, Applejack helped up Fang onto his hooves despite his protest before Applejack softly spoke.

“Listen sugarcube… you can’t farm the whole farm on your own…. I tried… you need a couple of good friends and family to help you out through tough times.”

Fang looked at Applejack, smiling softly before speaking. Earning a groan from the changelings escorting them.

“Thank you.. Applejack… and I do apologize for my kinds invasion…”

A female changeling groaned loudly, hissing softly before yelling at them.

“Shut up! Your so called friendship is so pathetic!”

Fang looked at the changeling, growling before speaking.

Shut up, Venus! You call killing our wounded strong!? You are as weak as the grubs you stomp on to prove yourself strong..”

Fluttershy eyes widen, hearing that grubs were killed without any pity, hoping that it was just small insects. Venus spoke back in a snarky tongue, revealing Fluttershy’s fear.

“Those little fucks wouldn’t stop asking me for cuddles or food…”

Fluttershy’s eyes begin to tear up, hearing that the changeling Venus killed the children for selfish reasons.

Before Fluttershy could rip into her wings, they entered the throne room.

“-et away with this..”

The voice said from on the altar as a large insect queen came into view of the group of ponies entering the room. The voice that was talking was a small but still tall pink alicorn named Cadence, from how Chrysalis called her the princess of food. Chrysalis looked at the group entering the room with a smile before speaking with confidence.

“You were saying…?”

As the last of the group entered the room, the door was closed to prevent any escaping. Chrysalis looked at the group before she saw Fang among the group.

“Ah Fang.. one of my best mining drones, why are you among this rabble…?”

Fang looks at Chrysalis, growling softly as she wouldn’t have been told already.

“You should know already you holy whore..!”

Shortly after Fang said that, a blast of magic struck him and launched him into the wall. The same magic grabbed him and pulled him to her. Chrysalis chuckled softly, grinning evilly.

“Feisty~ you would have been a loyal mate for your lover… unfortunately you won’t have the chance ever…”

With a surge of magic, Chrysalis blasted Fang out of the throne rooms window. Laughing as Fangs screams left a horrifying reminder to everypony. Rainbow thought what Chrysalis said about how loyal a lover that Fang would have made, feeling slightly uncool for abusing him earlier. Chrysalis chuckled as she went to the broken window she blasted Fang out off, smirking as she watched her changelings terrify the population. While Chrysalis was distracted, Twilight freed Cadence who in turn freed Shinning Armor and preformed their famous shield spell to repel the changeling horde away from Canterlot, ending the invasion before Chrysalis could seize victory.

Derpy Hooves was flying around Ponyville when something flew past her, something small and black with a trail of green, and slammed through the Ponyville library’s window with a large crash. Derpy would have checked it out but she had mail to deliver and wash off whatever green slime was on her, so with a shake of her head Derpy continued her flight talking softly to herself.

“I just don’t know what went wrong…”
