G5 Adventures in Scooby-Doo! and the Reluctant Werewolf
The First of the Three Nights
Previous ChapterNext ChapterIt was the first of the three nights that Indigo, Crunch and Brunch had to turn Shaggy into a werewolf and bring him back to Dracula in time for the Monster Road Rally, and of course, the Mane 6, Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy were oblivious to the danger that they were in.
Indigo knew that she would have to play some part in this horrible plan, so she hid herself in some bushes while Crunch and Brunch snuck away to begin their schemes.
A few minutes after this, Crunch and Brunch returned with a ladder, with Crunch babbling nonsense to his colleague about what they were going to do with the ladder they found. “Shh! Quiet, Crunch!” Brunch whispered in reply. “We must ascend to the roof and make a hole to let the moon shine through on Shaggy.”
“Then I,” said Indigo from her hiding place, “need to stay here and keep an eye on the situation at paw. If Brunch asks, I’ll say I was doing some… on the ground surveillance. They’ll believe that… won’t they?”

“Are you sure you don’t wanna come to bed yet, Misty?” Sunny asked the blue unicorn as many of the others were heading off to bed. “It’s getting pretty late.”
“I’ll be in bed soon, Sunny,” Misty answered, pulling out her spellbook from Equestria. “I wanted to catch up on some last minute spell practice before then.”
“Suit yourself, Mist,” Shaggy yawned tiredly. “Well, good night, guys.”
“Good night, Shag!” Scrappy smiled optimistically. “Good night,” Scooby bid Shaggy and the ponies (except Misty) farewell as they went into their rooms for the night. “Gee,” said Scrappy to his tired uncle, “wasn't that an exciting horror movie, Uncle Scoob?”
“Uh-huh,” Scooby nodded, although not interested in the conversation as Misty looked through her spellbook a bit. “Gosh,” said Scrappy. “Remember how that monster crashed through the window? And then remember how he came after everybody and ripped up the whole place?”
Misty looked away from her book at this, and even Scooby lifted his tired head to look at his nephew as he continued his narration of the movie. “And then, remember how he caught the hero and opened his big, ugly jaws and showed his big, ugly fangs? And then, how he bit right into…”
Scooby screamed, not being able to take the description of events anymore, running toward the stairs as fast as his paws could take him. “Where are you going, Uncle Scoob?” Scrappy asked, just as Scooby tripped and fell to the bottom of the stairs before answering. “...to get a snack…”
“Wait for me, Scooby!” Misty called out as she went to the bottom of the stairs to join him in the kitchen. “I was actually getting hungry myself.”
Scooby reached into the fridge and got a turkey leg for himself and a carrot for Misty, but as they began to chow down, they saw a ladder going up right outside the kitchen window, causing the two to become confused.
Who in the world could be putting up a ladder at this time of night?
That's when Misty and Scooby looked down from the window to see Crunch and Brunch getting ready to ascend to the rooftop. “'Very good, Crunch,” Brunch praised. “Now to the rooftop, and turn Shaggy into a werewolf.”
These words instantly caused Scooby’s fear to spark. “Shaggy?! A werewolf?!”
“Oh no!” both Scooby and Misty shrieked before racing upstairs to alert the others… more specifically, Shaggy, about the upcoming events.

Shaggy was sleeping soundly when he suddenly heard the door to his bedroom open, and Scooby leapt up on the bed and began shaking him until he was fully awake. “Wake up, Shaggy!”
“Ugh… huh? Wha…?” Shaggy groaned, unsure of what was happening.

“This is the exact spot for the moonbeam,” Brunch said, marking the spot on the roof they were going to cut through. “Cut the hole here, Crunch.”
“Okay,” Crunch giggled sinisterly as he got out a saw to begin cutting.

“What are you and Misty doing, Scooby?” Shaggy asked his dog as he continued to shake Shaggy a bit. “Get up!” Scooby urged. “The monsters are gonna get you!”
Shaggy blinked in surprise at this. “What?”
“Come on!” Misty urged quickly as Shaggy turned over in bed again. “Come on!”
However, Shaggy was not in the mood. “Misty, Scooby, let go!”
As Scooby was still trying to get Shaggy up, he looked up in shock to see a saw blade cutting a hole right through the rooftop. “Ohhhh!!!” he yelped, earning Misty's attention as he did this. “They're coming through the roof!”
“Grab Shaggy and let’s go!” Misty shouted over to the Great Dane. “Hurry!”
So, Scooby scooped Shaggy up out of bed just as a beam of moonlight came through the open hole in the ceiling. However, as Misty and Scooby were getting Shaggy out of danger, they didn't expect to trip over Scrappy and go tumbling down the stairs.
And needless to say… Shaggy was not happy being at the bottom of the pile. “Misty! Scooby-Doo!”
“Monsters!” Scooby yelped. “Coming to get you!”
Shaggy laughed nervously, unsure if he should believe this or not. “Coming to get me?”
“Honest!” Misty pleaded. That’s when Sunny and the others peeked their heads out of their bedroom, concerned about what was going on. “Is everything all right, you guys?” Sunny asked in confusion. “We heard a bunch of yelling.”
“Maybe it’ll be better if Scooby and I just show you,” Misty frowned as she got up onto her feet, a worried expression on her face.

“Oh bother! That unicorn and infernal dog ruined our plan!” Brunch growled in frustration as Brunch let out a few mutters himself, still holding a piece of the roof. “Put that back in place, old boy. We'll try again tomorrow night.”
“Okay...” Brunch muttered in compliance and put the piece of the roof he had sawed through back in place. That's when Indigo knew that they hadn't turned Shaggy into a werewolf just yet and flew up to the roof to check on them. “Uh… hey, you guys. I was just surveying the area… what did I miss?”
“Well, no thanks to you, our plan to turn Shaggy into a werewolf failed!” Brunch huffed, causing Indigo to lower her head. “...sorry…” she whispered. “I guess we have to try again tomorrow night?”
“I’m afraid we must, otherwise the master will have all of our hides,” Brunch sighed. “Crunch and I will alert the master of our progress-- you stay here and monitor them… all of them.”
“Yes, sir,” Indigo sighed, wondering deep in her mind when this torture was gonna end.

“Monsters through the roof, huh?” Zipp asked Misty and Scooby as they all walked into Shaggy’s room to see what the panic was about. Scooby nodded in confirmation to this. “That’s right!”
“Okay,” said Shaggy, looking around, “like, where’s the hole?”
Scooby pointed his paw up to the roof. “Up there!”
Shaggy looked where Scooby was pointing but didn’t see anything. “Where?”
“Right up… huh?!” Misty looked surprised as she saw that the hole had been patched in. “Wha… where did it go?!”
“Don’t worry, Misty and Uncle Scooby!” Scrappy said to the duo. “We still love you even if you are a bunch of wackos.”
“Sunny, you HAVE to believe us!” Misty said desperately. “We saw the monsters with our own eyes!”
“Misty, we’re not saying we don’t believe you,” Sunny said gently, taking Misty by the hoof. “But how do you explain the hole in the roof disappearing?”
“I… I wish I could explain…” Misty muttered quietly. “Maybe we were imagining things.”
Scooby whimpered and nudged Misty’s face with his snout, trying to cheer her up. “Come on, Scooby… let’s go downstairs and let Shaggy get back to sleep. Maybe a less scary movie will take our minds off this whole ‘monsters coming to get Shaggy’ stuff.”

Izzy managed to find the ponies, Sparky and Scooby a nice fairytale movie to watch on TV, but during the silence, Misty couldn’t help but feel like such a foal.
How could the hole have just disappeared?
Did she and Scooby really just imagine the whole thing?
Or was something else going on that they didn't know about?
Little did she and her friends know, Indigo was watching them out of the window, and Indigo couldn’t help but sympathize with poor Misty.
She could learn a lot about a pony just by looking and listening, and right now… she was feeling pretty darn bad about what she and the Hunch Bunch were doing.
But… she also admired the fact that the ponies believed Misty and Scooby when nopony else did.
All she could hope for was that transforming Shaggy into a werewolf one of the three nights would not affect his friendship with the ponies too much.

“Dracula calling the Hunch Bunch, Dracula calling the Hunch Bunch! Where are you? Where's my new werewolf?” Dracula said to the Hunch Bunch over the intercom in the BatCopter. “Come in, Hunch Bunch!”
“Master…” Crunch said before babbling a bunch of nonsense, getting spit all over the place and annoying Dracula further. “Get off, Crunch, you monster mush-mouth! I want to speak to Brunch!”
“Uh… yes, Your Evilness,” Brunch took the mic from his acquaintance and gave Dracula the update on their mission. “We've had a spot of bad luck this evening, but never fear, we'll bag your werewolf tomorrow night or our name isn't the Hunch Bunch!”
“You better or your names and that little cat’s name will be mud!” Dracula threatened the duo and Indigo, although she was not present. “Or maybe even… blood.”
“Blood?!” Crunch began to babble in panic, causing Brunch to sigh.
They had to bag that werewolf one of these nights… otherwise, things would not work out for them in the end.
