Remember that day in 6th grade

Gym class

Deep in the Everfree Forest, Two girls are sitting on a mountain watching the sun slowly disappear into the landscape of trees in front of the trees.

Strangers to friends to strangers to somewhat friends and then what?

“ Remember when we first met.” The navy haired girl with two streaks of different shades of pink and purple asked the bacon hair girl next to her.

“Um…” The bacon haired girl answered not fully trying to rack her brain for the Answer

“ I'm very disappointed in you right now, Sunset.” The navy haired girl gave her a somewhat angry look.

“I CAN'T THINK RIGHT NOW TWILIGHT.” Sunset reasoned trying to get their conversation away from fighting’s well as trying to not seem guilty.

Twilight looked at her “friend” with a need to explain in a very detailed way of what happened that day.

“Go ahead with your nerdy story details and idk that stuff .” Sunset said.

“Gladly so 3 or 4 years ago we were in sixth grade…”

“HOW DO I PLAY BADMINTON ?” Sunset yelled to her gym partner.

“ THE FUCK IF I KNOW, it’s better than running a mile though.” Her “best friend” at the moment , Flash sentry yelled at her.

“This rotation the coaches are doing sucks. I don't get it. Do we stay or go to the next group?” Sunset's hands went up to her head clearly in distress, not being able to figure out how to move or swing her racket.

“lol skill issue” Flash told Sunset.

“I’m finna beat ur ass with this racket” Sunset threatened him by moving the racket fast to his face stopping before she hit him to make sure he got the hint.“How many times have we played with these two girls?” She made flash genuinely look at who they were playing against.”

“Oh they're both pretty good tho I mean compared to us I think anybody would be right? Sunset? Flash repeatedly tries to gain the attention of his friend, noticing her stares at one of the girls. Finally with one last loud yell. “SUNSET!”

“OH” Sunset snapped out of the trance but missed the birdie by a long shot therefore ending the round of badminton for them.

“… we lost again. I think at this point it’s not because we’re beginners, I think we’re just bad.” Flash said not surprised at all.

“Yeah probably” Sunset didn’t answer with emotion instead she locked on to the girls again this time with pure intensity. This time, filled with pure infatuation.

“I don’t see it” flash said randomly

Sunset snapped out of it and asked “huh see what?”

“ I don’t see what you are looking at. I don’t see anything interesting about those girls.” Flash squinted his eyes trying to analyze them more.”

“Omg I just think they look cool.” Sunset got in front of Flash to block him from looking at them so creepily.

“If you think they're so cool, why don’t you talk to them.” Celestia knows you need friends.” Flash started pushing her from behind to get her closer to the unnamed girls.

“HEY I DO HAVE FRIENDS alao why do u speak as if Celestia is a god to be named. She’s my mother…” Sunset tried to finish but was cut off by Flashes snark.

“Yeah about that we need to talk about your mommy issues, later tho.” Flash kept pushing her towards the two girls.

Sunset panicked as soon as she got close enough to talk to them and tried to escape out of flash's grip but was unsuccessful in doing so.

“Listen u talk to them I’ll be right here” Flash whispered behind Sunset.

“Oh hi um are you ok?” A tall pink haired girl asked Sunset not fully aware of the fact that Sunset had been forced to talk to them.

Sunset just stood there frozen in place, sweat dripping from her head.

“Don’t mind her, she's … anxious… anyways uh im Flash and this is my friend Sunset. We thought u guys were cool and um idk wanted to talk.”

“Oh I’m flutter shy ” she answered hesitantly and very quietly, frantically looking for her friend to help her conversant.

Sunset still stood there frozen whole Flash tried to get her to talk. “Um hi” is all she could muster up. Giving Fluttershy the impression that she was just as antisocial as her.

“Flutter shy what’s happening over here” a navy haired girl appeared from behind her. Then froze at the sight of two new people conversing with Fluttershy.

Finally sunset mustered up enough courage to loosen up and talk. “ hi im uh sunset. I thought u looked cool and uh…” she tried to figure out what to say next then realized she was completely alone. “ omg he left didn’t he.”

“Uh yea” the navy haired girl was now in front of sunset poking her head out to the side of Sunset's tall body to see flash talking to another person. “He started walking backwards when he saw me coming.”

“I swear man that guy is—“ Sunset was once again cut off.

“Um anyways I’m twilight” she put her hand in greeting.

Sunset shook her hand happily hoping she had just made a new friend.

“You remember it don't you?” Twilight looked at sunset in the eyes.

“Yes I do,” Sunset answered.

“Why pretend you forgot?” Twilight looked at her with a slight sad look.” Are you focusing on what happened after? I swear I forgive you, can we just forget it.”

“ I don’t know.”

“ I don’t know if I can forgive myself.” Sunset told herself.

Now fully acquainted and in the 7th grade, Fluttershy, Twilight and Sunset started to gain a bond. Each becoming more open with each interaction. Then eventually became “the main 7” with their new friends Rainbow dash, Applejack, Rarity and Pinkie pie.

“ When I first met u Sunset I thought u were one of those cool popular kids. I was actually scared of even talking to you.” Twilight was sitting across from Sunset
During their final period of the day.

“ That has nothing to do with science Twilight, But now that you mention it I actually thought the same about you. Turns out I was so wrong.” Sunset smirked at Twilight.

“WHAT EXCUSE ME I WAS VERY COOL” she yelled

“Yeah yeah you were a nerd who read ten books a day and still do.” Sunset gave her a smile and blushed at her outburst.

“Anyways we should get going, the rest want to meet later.” Twilight got up, stretched and got ready to leave. She put her hand out to get the Sunset up.

“I’ll catch up. I have some things to do.” Sunset looked up and smiled at her. “ It won't take too long to do, go ahead.”

“Alright I’ll be waiting. Same spot as usual” Twilight walked out waving a see you later.

Flash scooted into Sunsets table “ I see u have more than one friend now. Of course not as cool as me tho.” How does your “ mother” feel about you finally having a life. Really how does she feel about your “interest” in girls that u like to have as friends.” Flash moved in eyebrows up and down with a sinister look.

“ I will forcefully wax your eyebrows off if you ever do that again. Also why are you so persistent to know what my mother feels?” Sunset's face changed to an ingratiating tone.

“Sunset I know you don’t have the best relationship with her. Also because I’ve known you for at least 5 years I know your body language. Unfortunately I can't tell what's wrong specifically but it’s usually your mother. So what I’m guessing is it's because of your crush on Twilight or because your mom doesn’t know you are a bit gay.” Flash spoke truthfully, not stuttering.

“ wait what…”

“ Sunset I know ur queer in some way” Flash spit out.

“ I-“

“ So what is it? What’s wrong?”

“I hate to admit this but you're completely right. Except for the Celestia part, she doesn’t know and I don’t even think she would even acknowledge the fact that I’m coming out to her.” Sunset looked down at her papers. And slouched on the chair.

“Using her government name now I see.” Flash sat there quietly before asking “why?”

“ She’s not my real mother. She doesn’t treat me the way normal mothers would. She just provides everything that the government requires her too. She never really says beyond good morning and goodnight.”

“ I’m sure there’s a reason for that, she still cares for you for several years. She probably just doesn’t know how to show it. So far I haven’t seen anything she’s disagreed with you about.”

“ Yeah I know but it’s the lack of emotion in what I do good or bad. Though now that you say it she probably doesn’t care if I’m gay. I just didn’t want her to hate me but I think no matter what she couldn’t hate me.Sunset
Straightens her posture.(the only straight thing she can do)

“Oh I think you got the wrong message-“ Flash was cut off by sunset rapidly getting to leave.

Flash grabbed Sunsets arm and pulled her down back into her seat.

“ Huh?” Sunset said confused and dumbfounded, she turned her head to look at Flash.

Flash put his hand on Sunset's shoulder. “Before you try anything, I’ll clarify what I meant but clearly did convey very well, Sunset try to tell Celestia what she does and how it affects you. Sunset you shouldn’t have to raise yourself, not that celestia doesn’t provide for you I mean that she should be there for you mentally.

“Oh, we’ll shit that sounds like it would be hard to do.” Sunset pouted.

“yeah but in the end it’s worth it.” Flash smiled a bit

“ I guess I’ll try, thanks Flash.” Sunset walked out the hand waving goodbye and turned behind the wall and disappeared.

“ WAIT HOLD UP” Flash yelled then realized he was all alone in a classroom he randomly stumbled upon by attempting to find the nurses office that happens to be Sunsets.” I don’t know where the exit is..” then once again is his little big boy mind he realized he forgot to tease Sunset about her crush on twilight.” DANG IT.” Stupidly being more mad about that than his really problem.
