Previous ChapterNext ChapterA Feat on Her Feet (featuring Pinkie Pie, Rarity and Sweetie Belle)
Pinkie Pie is putting on her roller skates for another day of skating to reminisce about their participation in the Friendship Games. All she needs now is Rarity.
“You ready to go skating, Rare?” Pinkie asked.
“Yeahhhhhhh!! I'm a great skater, darrrrlllliing!!!!” Rarity said as she skated uncontrollably. Eventually, she crashes into the closet. “I meant to do that.” Rarity continued, sheepishly. Sweetie Belle shows up after she hears Rarity crash into her closet from her silly skating.
“Are you, okay, sis?” Sweetie said.
“Yeah, I’m fine. I just haven’t skated in a long time since the Friendship Games.” Rarity replied, still in her closet. "I guess I'm going to need all the practice and refresher so I can become a good skater again."
“Well, you can show off all you want as soon as we get to Dragon Land.” Pinkie requested, giggling and removing her skates.
“I’m way ahead of you, darling.” Rarity exclaimed, as she held her dragon scale in her hand and was wearing her dragon badge. They were always stored in her closet, and she knew she was ready the second she crashed in there.
Sweetie Belle and Pinkie Pie put their dragon badges on, held the dragon scale together with Rarity and said the magic phrase: "I wish, I wish, with all my heart, to fly with Dragons, in a land apart!” They all said in unison as the dragons on Rarity's wall flew off, swirled around them all and off they went!
The girls arrive in Dragon Land where they find Ord skating around.
"Hi, Rarity, Pinkie and Sweetie! Look at me go!" Ord cried out, happy to see that they arrived again.
"Wow! Pinkie exclaimed, crouching down and seeing Ord actually floating in midair.
"Wait a minute. Aren’t your skates supposed to be on the ground?" Sweetie asked, confused.
"Maybe?" Ord said, realizing that he was about to fall. “Wow, that was close.” Ord continued, relieved that he didn't quite get hurt from the hard landing.
“Don’t worry, Ord. We can help you try to stay up.” Sweetie said, kindly helping him up.
“You betcha.” Ord replied, happy to see that Rarity's sister is supporting him. Just as Ord was about to let go, he almost fell. Luckily, he was saved by his friends and a few moments later Ord and his human friends roller-skated all-around Dragon Land for practice. Eventually, once the girls let him go, he became very good at it!
At Zak and Wheezie’s knuckerhole, they all flew right out and did an unbelievable 360 skating flip, as they met up with the rest of their friends.
“Hi, Zak.” greeted Rarity.
“Hi, Wheezie.” greeted Sweetie.
“Uh, hi. Hi.” said Zak, still dazed from the flip.
“Whoa, don't you just love roller-skating?” Wheezie said happily. “It's so…” She continued, until... “Scary!” Zak continued.
Just like that, everyone was roller skating and having a good time, kind of like a summer vibe that happens every year.
Meanwhile, Cassie was holding a wagon holding jingle flowers, while singing a song about them.
♪ Jingle flowers, jingle flowers, jingle all the way! Oh, what fun it is to push a wagon full of jingle flowers on a sunny day! ♪ Cassie sang until the unfortunate was about to happen. She sees the others are coming right toward her laughing and shouting.
“SLOOOOOOOW DOWWWWWWWWWN!!!” Zak yelled, obviously not liking the speed he and Wheezie are going. Of course, he can't quite help it, because he shares one body with his sister after all.
“It's Cassie.” pointed out Sweetie, seeing that they're about to crash into the pink dragon.
“Look out! Watch it!” Everyone cried, trying to slow down but to no avail. Cassie pushed the wagon away, but they all crashed into her. Unfortunately, the wagon is rolling down a hill and is about to fly off the edge!
“Oh, no!” Cassie exclaimed, just as the wagon flew up and it almost crashed. Luckily, the flowers survived.
“Sorry, Cassie.” Pinkie apologized, still dazed from the crash.
“Are you okay?” Ord asked, feeling concerned for his friend.
“I'm fine but look at my poor flowers.” said Cassie, starting to feel sorry for the flowers as they are still jingling. The jingles are becoming quiet now and they're drooping!
“Oh, you poor things. How will I ever get you to Singing Springs now?” Cassie asked, worried about the flowers' well-being.
“Why do you need to take the flowers to Singing Springs, Cassie?” Pinkie asked.
“Because they're jingle flowers. I grew them from seeds. But now that they've grown up, I need to plant them at Singing Springs. Without the fountain's musical water, they'll lose their jingle.” Cassie explained.
“You better hurry. They don't sound so good.” Zak suggested, starting to get concerned for the flowers' well-being.
“But the wagon is broken. How will I ever move all the flowers?” asked Cassie.
Suddenly, Ord has an idea. He suggested; “I know. I can carry your wagon to Singing Springs.”
Ord tried to use his strength to pull the broken wagon to Singing Springs, but Ord slipped with his skates and almost fell.
"It's no use. We'll never get my jingle flowers planted in time." sighed Cassie.
There must be some other way to get the flowers to Singing Springs." Rarity says to herself as everyone starts to think of ideas about what they can do. It wasn't long until Sweetie Belle finally got an idea. "The wagon's wheels are broken, but maybe there’s something else we can use for wheels... that's it. We can skate the jingle flowers to Singing Springs." Sweetie explains as the flowers continue their weak jingles.
"Yeah, we can all be the wagon wheel. Pinkie Pie agreed, obviously liking the idea. With that, everyone approached the wagon.
"Everyone, lift up a corner." Rarity commanded as everyone stuck sticks of wood into where the wheels were and lifted the wagon up so they can all skate and carry it at the same time. Well, Cassie doesn't have any skates and Zak & Wheezie take notice of that.
"Oh! Cassie doesn't have any skates. Silly us." laughed Wheezie as Ord reached into his pouch and grabs spare skates that Cassie can use.
"Thanks, but..." Cassie began.
Unfortunately, her problem hasn't fully spoken out yet as everyone helped put her skates on. They were oblivious to her problem. She doesn't know how to skate! It all became obvious when everyone lifted the wagon before Cassie fell.
"What's wrong, Cassie? Are you okay?" Rarity asked, worried.
"I think so. It's just that I don't know how to skate. if I don't learn to skate, my jingle flowers won't make it to Singing Springs in time." admitted Cassie, starting to doubt herself.
Maybe we could fly them there." Zak suggested. However, there's a problem.
"But Rarity, Pinkie and I can't fly, so there'd be no one to hold up the fourth corner. It would take forever to fly them a few at a time." Sweetie Belle complained.
"Oh, oh, I know, I know. We can plant them in our roller skates and teach them to skate to Singing Springs by themselves!" Wheezie suggested, obviously going back to her ditzy ways again.
"Ha! That's the silliest idea ever." Zak replied, obviously annoyed.
"Maybe not. We're gonna teach you to skate, Cassie." Pinkie Pie spoke up, pointing to Cassie.
"Me?"
"Sure. A little help won’t hurt." Pinkie answered.
"First, you stand up." Pinkie explained as Cassie stood up with Ord holding her hand for some support.
"Oh, I can't watch." Zak panicked, having his eye unblocked. Technically, he's watching.
"Okay, Ord. Let her go." Rarity signaled as Ord lets go of Cassie's hand and she's still up and moving.
"Hey, look at me. I'm standing." Cassie exclaimed, giggling and happy about what she's doing now. However, that didn't last long, because she fell anyway.
"Want a pillow, Cassie?" Zak offered, considering that he's the safe and cautious dragon.
"No, thanks, Zak. I wanna try again." Cassie replied, still confident that she can do it. Ord picks her up and holds her until... "Okay. Let me go." Cassie signals as Ord lets her go but she's still struggling to keep her balance.
"Try to keep your balance, darling." Rarity cheered. Just like that Cassie regained her balance and she's starting to get a little better at skating. Everyone cheered for her accomplishments, but that’s only the first step of skating.
"Ready for the next step?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"I think so." Cassie answered, still feeling a little nervous.
"We need something for Cassie to hold on to while she skates." Rarity instructed.
"Okie, dokie, lokie!" Pinkie Pie spoke up as she grabbed a rope and pulled it out of her infinite hammer-space that is her hair. She skates over to a tree and ties the rope around 2 trees. That way, Cassie will get more support while skating, since she's learning.
"Ready." Pinkie signaled, taking to have Cassie hold on to the rope.
"Just hold up to the rope and try to skate along it. If you lose your balance, just hang on. Okay, darling?" Rarity instructed.
"Okay." Cassie replied. What do you know, she's getting a hang of it since she's holding the rope as everyone is cheering for her. It didn't last long until she fell again.
Not bad, Cassie-Lassie" exclaimed Pinkie, feeling proud for Cassie and how far she's gotten in practice.
"That was terrible. Well, I’m no quitter. If skating is the only way to help the jingle flowers, then I'm gonna skate! I think." Cassie spoke, still not willing to give up. Especially that she has gotten this far. She's not going to quit now!
"When I learned to skate, my sister, Rarity, had me do little small steps, like this." Sweetie Belle explained, taking really small steps and letting her skates roll free.
"That doesn’t look so hard." Cassie tries to go slow, eventually she gets it down and she's skating! "I'm... I'm doing it."
"Way to go!" cheered Ord.
"I knew you could do it, darling." Rarity cheered.
Suddenly, Cassie's starting to slip. Luckily, she's still holding on to the rope. "This is... fun. Pinkie, I think I'm ready for the most important lesson."
"Which lesson is that, Cassie?" Pinkie asked.
"How to stop!" Cassie replied as she started skating a little too fast down the hill until she crashed into Zak and Wheezie, who were waiting for her at the end of the rope.
"Oh, what’s the use?" Cassie sighed, wanting to give up.
"Don’t give up, Cassie. Remember how long it took me to learn to ride a bike?" encouraged Ord.
"We just gotta keep trying. I even had training wheels when I was really small. I never used them anymore since I was in 3rd grade. It’s because I got better at riding bikes." Sweetie Belle explained. She doesn't know it, but she came up with a great idea to help Cassie even further!
"You’re a genius, Sweetie!" Rarity cheered.
"I am?" Sweetie Belle said, surprised.
A few moments later, everyone has prepped Cassie up for another run. They have strapped a roller skate to Cassie’s tail to make it a lot easier for her.
“You really think this will work, Sweetie Belle?” Cassie asked, fearing that she’s gonna fall again.
“There’s only one way to find out, darling.” Rarity answered for her sister. On cue, they all start going nice and slow for their pink dragon friend. Eventually, she’s able to keep her balance, she’s gone from little steps to big steps. She’s definitely a better skater now.
“It's working! I can skate! I can skate.” she cheered as she’s made some really huge progress and she’s skating better now. Even the Jingle Flowers are congratulating her for her progress via happy jingles.
♪ Jingle flowers, jingle flowers, jingle all the way! Oh, what fun it is to skate a wagon full of jingle flowers on a sunny day! ♪ Everybody sang as they approached Singing Springs.
A few minutes later, they made it to their destination. Everyone was so proud and happy of Cassie for her skating skills.
“Nice skating, Cassie!” Pinkie cheered.
“Come on. Let’s get the jingle flowers planted.” Cassie orders as Ord scoops up some dirt, hands the flowers over to him and planted them on the ground.
The flowers are starting to grow but they need one more thing. They need water. Ord realized that as he reaches into his pouch, grabs a watering can and waters the flowers. After that, the flowers are fully grown, and they can jingle normally again! Everyone was happy with their accomplishments.
After seeing the flowers jingle some more, it was time for the girls to head home. They all held their hands and said the magical phrase: “I wish, I wish, to use this rhyme, to go back home, until next time.” Pinkie Pie, Rarity and Sweetie Belle said in unison as they went back home. Instantly, they arrived home.
“We sure had a blast skating with Cassie and all of our Dragon friends.” Pinkie exclaimed, feeling tired from all the skating.
“How about this? I can make you my own jingle flowers.” Sweetie Belle suggested as she warmed up her singing voice and started to sing the Winter Wrap-Up song. The voice was so high-pitched that Rarity and Pinkie had to cover their ears. Eventually, the pots the flowers were placed in have shattered into pieces. Rarity and Pinkie look on in surprise while Sweetie Belle felt like she got herself in trouble.
“Oh, sorry. I was just trying to help.” Sweetie said, feeling sorry for herself.
“Oh, that’s okay, darling. We’ll just have to take you to choir class.” Rarity answered, sheepishly. She wasn’t mad at her sister. She was surprised by her singing voice and how much power it had released.
“Well, you sure made my day a lot more musical!” Pinkie spoke as everyone giggled.
