Previous ChapterNext ChapterYou look around wildly. Surely there's something besides a creepy chair to help you and Applejack get out safely. You don't find anything in the dark room, though. It seems like just another one of the dusty old rooms. "Nothing here. I think we gotta go back into the hallway."
"What?!" Applejack looks over her shoulder at where the sounds had died down. "Ya sure it's safe out there?"
"Safer than staying in here." You nod back towards the door. "Ready?"
She steps nervously away from the door. "Ready as ah'll ever be. Go for it!"
You shove your way out into the hall. The tendrils slither away at the sight of you, ducking down through the hole and disappearing. "Okay, that was creepy."
Applejack kicks the door shut behind you. "Not ta worry! More movin' and less thinkin' bout them creepies. That's our job." She follows after you as you begin to trot down the hall. You keep an eye on the hole, but no other tendrils reach out for you. It must not have been safe for them.
She keeps glancing at that same hole, just as wary as you that an attack could come at any moment. "Okay. We're almost to the front door. I hope that thin' stays put."
"Yeah, me too." You peek towards that gaping hole, knowing what horrors lurked just beyond that dark rim. "Come on, almost there." You continue your journey, step by step. Applejack presses against your side, seeking comfort in the face of such fear.
Just as you get close to the front door, you hear a terrible cracking sound from behind you.
There's no time for thought, only a panicked gallop. Both of you spill out of the house and dash away with startled whinnies.
You rush off, heart pounding, as you look back. There, in the distance, is that old house. It still looks rickety and ramshackle, but now a great tendril slithers free, waving in the air like a terrible flag.
Applejack turns in place, heaving for breath. "Where'd Apple Bloom go?"
Oh no. She:
B: Is missing!
