Doctor Whooves and the Eye of Discord

An Eye for an Eye

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

After a short minute, the Doctor arrived at Canterlot Castle. He stepped out and saw a large drawbridge next to the Tardis. He looked around and saw several ponies scattered around the city, none of which were looking at him or the Tardis.

The Doctor made his way to the drawbridge and walked across before coming to the courtyard. It was with several gardens all around. The main road led into the castle which was decorated with large columns of beautiful marble.

The Doctor walked in and saw the long red carpets that led to the throne room, a large room with several stained-glass windows depicting major events in the Equestria’s history and, in the back, a large golden throne on which Celestia sat.

“Ah, Doctor,” Celestia calmly said. “It’s so good to see you.”

The Doctor chuckled. “Wow Princess, I’m surprised you even recognized me.”

“Of course,” She chuckled. “Even after all this time, you still haven’t aged a day. You must tell me what you use to keep yourself looking that way.”

“I haven’t seen you since I regenerated into this body,” the Doctor said. “How do you know that?”

“Ahh, yes,” Celestia said. “I almost forgot you were a time traveler. Well, don’t worry, this isn’t the first time I’ve seen you like this.” She gave the Doctor a wink.

“Well, I suppose I have something to look forward to then,” the Doctor said. “Now then, what was it you wanted to talk about.”

“It’s about the Eye of Discord,” Celestia said bluntly.

“Ahh yes, the eye,” the Doctor said, remembering the original topic of this meeting. “You know, my people found out about it and gave it a different name. They called it ‘The Moment.’ I think it was because stored the chaos into a single moment.”

“I’ll keep that in mind,” Celestia said.

“Now, what about the Moment did you want to talk about?” the Doctor asked. “I know where the Moment is, it’s back on my home planet.”

“Yes, but there’s... another one,” Celestia said, hesitating.

The Doctor looked at princess Celestia. It looked as though all the stages of grief were repeatedly playing through his head. “What do you mean there’s another!?”

“Months ago,” Celestia started, “Discord escaped his stone prison. Surely you saw it.”

“I must have been out of town that day,” the Doctor said, listening intently.

“I rallied Twilight Sparkle and her friends to use the Elements of Harmony to trap him once again.” Celestia looked towards a window with Twilight and her friends defeating Discord. “However, in all the commotion, I completely forgot about the Eye of Discord that spawned after he was turned to stone.”

“How could you forget!?” the Doctor yelled out.

“I didn’t expect Discord to escape, I’m afraid,” Celestia explained. “Besides it’s been a millennium since I last even saw the eye. This used to be handled by a service that worked under me.”

“And what service was that?” the Doctor asked.

“It was a monster and alien hunting organization I founded called Torchwood,” Celestia replied. “They helped with several magic and extraterrestrial problems before they were disbanded due to a Bugbear escaping.”

The Doctor thought to himself. This sounds like what Bon Bon described in the other timeline, he thought. He wondered if those are the same.

Celestia continued, interrupting the Doctor’s pondering. “Luna watches all the dreams of the night, and last night, Luna saw your dream. It reminded us both of the Eye of Discord.”

“Do you have any clues as to where it could be?” the Doctor asked.

Celestia shook her head. “No, I’m afraid that we have no idea, but it isn’t safe if we don’t know where it is. The only lead we have is that it should be in Ponyville near where Discord was turned to stone, but there’s no way that it stayed there.”

“Well, this would be much more difficult if I didn’t have a time machine,” the Doctor said, smirking. “I’ll bring the eye here, then we’ll know where it’s been all this time.”

“Thank you, Doctor,” Celestia said. “But don’t worry, we won’t send you alone. We’ve got someone who can go with you.”

“Really?” the Doctor asked. “Who’s that?”

“You could say he knows a bit about this subject,” Celestia said, giggling for a second.

The Doctor didn’t have to ponder what she meant by that for long, as the door to the throne room opened. Two creatures began walking in.

The first was a yellow Pegasi with a long pink mane. The Doctor could immediately tell that she was Fluttershy, the one who wore the element of Kindness.

The creature right beside her was even more recognizable. It was a serpent like mashup of several creatures like a dragon, pony, bat, and several others as well. It was the Draconequus known as Discord, the lord of chaos.

“Now Discord,” Fluttershy started, “Princess Celestia asked you to help with this because it IS your fault.”

“Oh, but do I have to?” Discord asked. “I’m sure this physician would be fine without my help!”

“No Discord,” Fluttershy said. “Princess Celestia has done so much for you, so it’s only nice for you to do this.”

“Thank you, Fluttershy,” Princess Celestia said.

“And by the way,” the Doctor looked at Discord. “I’m the Doctor.”

“Doctor, physician,” Discord said. “Same difference.”

“I disagree,” the Doctor stated. “A name can make all the difference. It’s how I was able to get away from a platoon of Judoon on the moon several years back.”

Discord gave a look of surprise before smirking. “So, your name is ‘The Doctor’ huh? That’s funny. I seem to remember the pony that helped the Princesses turn me to stone was also called ‘The Doctor’. But you wouldn’t have any idea about that, would you?”

“Well, I would hope so,” the Doctor replied. “If I didn’t, my head might be going bad, and we can’t have that now, can we?”

“Ahhh, so good to meet you finally!” Discord said in an exaggerated tone. “I’ve always wanted to meet the pony that was responsible for the thousand years I spent encased in stone. Let me just say, thank you.” The two scowled at each other for what felt like hours before Discord said, “But hey! You look good, it’s been, what, a thousand years? And you somehow look younger than you did back then!”

“I suppose that’s what happens when you’re a time traveler,” the Doctor retorted.

“Ooooo, a time traveler,” Discord mocked. “I gotta say though, I loved your old outfit much more. That scarf especially.”

“Well lucky for you, I still have it,” the Doctor said, starting to lose his patience.

“Now now, both of you,” Celestia started. “You should be more cordial with each other if you’ll be partners on this mission.”

“Partners!?” Discord and the Doctor exclaimed.

“Yes,” Celestia said. “I figured that the best way to find the Eye of Discord was to use Discord himself.”

“So you want me to go on some big adventure with a pony that helped turn me to stone!?” Discord yelled. “Haven’t I done that enough!?”

“With all due respect princess,” the Doctor said to Celestia, “I only allow creatures aboard the Tardis if I approve them, and I do not approve of Discord to board my ship.”

Princess Celestia looked at the Doctor with a grim face. “Doctor, if Discord can go with you, it could prove easier to find his eye before it could get in the hands of somepony that would use it for evil. Surely, I don’t have to tell you about the harm it can cause.”

The Doctor didn’t speak for a moment. He just pondered Celestia’s words and the impact of an eye being somewhere in Equestria.

“Okay,” the Doctor said. “Discord can come with me.”

“What!?” Discord yelled. “Don’t I get a say in this?!”

Celestia smirked. “Oh, I was just telling Fluttershy that if you went, I’d give you this one-of-a-kind tea.”

Discord’s attention peaked. “One-of-a-kind? How so?”

“It’s my own special recipe,” Celestia answered. “I infused it with my magic, so you don’t even have to heat it up. My magic can almost make it taste like you're tasting the sun.”

Discord’s mouth was watering. “That is something I’ve always wanted to do.” Discord thought for a moment before yelling out, “FINE! I’ll go! But I want that tea hot and ready when I get back!”

Celestia chuckled. “Don’t worry Discord, I’ll start making it now.”

Fluttershy walked up to her friend. “Discord, be sure to be on your best behavior for the Doctor.” Discord rolled his eyes. “I’m serious! He gave you an exception that he doesn’t give to most creatures. Treat him with respect.”

Discord let out an exaggerated sigh. “Okay, I promise that I’ll treat him with the same respect I give everypony.”

Fluttershy smiled. “Thank you. And please be safe, Discord.”

“Don’t worry,” Discord said, “I will.”

“Good," Fluttershy said. She looked over to the Doctor and said, “You too, Doctor.”

After that, Fluttershy began to walk out of the castle. Afterwards, the Doctor looked to Discord and asked, “Do you treat anypony with respect?”

Discord looked at the doctor with a condescending smile. “I do not.”
