Saying Farewell and Returning Home at Last

Previous Chapter

This adventure was finally over.

Warwick and the Howlloween Hound were finally gone.

Pipsqueak, Joseph Johnson and Aurelia were reunited with one another after 75 long years.

The Mane 6 were proud of themselves and the Pippsqueaks for a job well done.

But now… there was one thing left to do.

That next afternoon, after everyone had a full day to try and get themselves together, the kids, Buddies and ponies all stood in front of Aurelia, Joseph and Pipsqueak, along with Pipsqueak’s brothers and sisters in the RV that stood behind them.

The Pippsqueaks and the Mane 6 chose to keep their costumes on, since they would be heading back to Equestria soon, but wanted to give all of their friends a proper farewell in the meantime.

Billy chose to speak first. “Thanks again for all the help on my project, Mr. John… I mean, Joseph.”

“It was a pleasure… dawg,” Joseph said amusingly, causing the others to laugh. “So… what are the three of you gonna do now?” Sunny asked curiously. “Well,” Joseph began, “tracked down Pipqueak's brothers' and sisters' owners. They live all across America now, so we're going to visit.”

“Joseph figured it was about time the three of us did some living,” Aurelia smiled. “See the country and spend some time together after all these years.”

“We’re so happy to hear that,” Misty smiled.

“Yeah,” Hitch nodded. “After all that’s happened, you guys DEFINITELY deserve a vacation.”

As the Mane 6 and the kids continued to talk to Aurelia and Joseph, Pipsqueak turned his attention to the Buddies and fillies. “It's so great to have a new leash on life. I'll miss you, guys.”

“We’ll miss you too,” Seashell smiled sadly. “Yo, dawg, we'll catch you on the flip side,” B-Dawg said. “I think what my brother's saying is,” Buddha clarified, “we’ll never forget you.”

Mudbud nodded to this. “Hang loose, dude. Both you and the dragon.”

“Now that you can eat again,” requested Budderball, “do me a favor. You need to check out the chili cheese dogs at every town you visit and tell us which one's the best.”

“We’re gonna come back to Fernfield soon, I can feel it,” Glory smiled. “And when we do…”

“You’re gonna be the first ones we look up!” Peach Fizz added. Rosebud was the last to bid her farewells. “Have a great time, Aurelia and Pipsqueak.”

Aurelia tipped her head in thanks. “We will. And thank you, for everything.”

“Goodbye, Buddies and Pippsqueaks,” Pipsqueak smiled. Joseph picked up the beagle pup and allowed him to lick his face, causing the Mane 6 to smile alongside all their friends. “I haven’t felt this spry in years.”

“Joseph, we better get going,” Aurelia said. “The country isn’t gonna wait a long time on us.”

“You’re right,” Joseph chuckled. “We better hit the road. Bye, kids.”

“Bye, Mr. Johnson!” everyone chorused while the Buddies barked a farewell. “Bye, Aurelia!”

Joseph and Aurelia boarded the RV, and within minutes, the large vehicle drove off and out of their sight.

Seashell sighed. “Boy… this has been one adventure I’m never gonna forget.”

“And speaking of adventure,” Zipp sighed as she watched the portal open not too far away, “looks like this adventure is over for us. We’d better get you fillies back to Equestria.”

“That’s right! Time pauses back home,” Glory said, “so we still get to go trick-or-treating!”

“We’re gonna miss you guys a lot,” Sam said to the ponies sadly. “We’ll miss you too, but don’t worry,” assured Sunny. “We’ll be back someday. I promise.”

And so, exchanging one final farewell with their Fernfield friends, the ponies and Sparky ran toward the portal before jumping in, leaving Fernfield behind.

“Alphabittle, look!” Paradise gasped as the portal opened and the Mane 6, Sparky and the Pippsqueaks came back through. “They’re back!”

“Mom, Dad!” Misty rushed over and hugged her parents.

“We’ve been wondering if you kids were okay,” Alphabittle stated. “How was your latest adventure?”

“It was so cool!” Seashell exclaimed. “I-In some ways.”

“Let’s just say,” said Zipp, “this adventure really taught us to appreciate the beauty of life a bit more than we thought we had to.”

“And we met some new friends,” Peach Fizz said, “and reunited with new ones!”

“And best of all,” said Glory, “we’re not scared of the Shadow Screechers anymore!”

Paradise blinked in surprise. “Wow, that must’ve been some journey. Why don’t you tell us all about it when we go trick-or-treating?”

“Trust me, Paradise,” Hitch sighed. “We wouldn’t miss trick-or-treating in the safety of Equestria for anything in the world.”

And then, laughing, the group proceeded on their way, another adventure complete, another world was saved…

…and they knew that even though they were far away from their Fernfield friends once again…

…the strength of their friendship would carry through the ages.
