Equestria Ninja Girls: Reinkani Forever
The Guardians
Previous ChapterNext ChapterYod led the ninjas to a mountainside. Towards the side of a mountain as he stood there facing it.
“So, which way are we going?” Casey asked.
Raph looked up, “Are we gonna climb this mountain?”
“No. We're going through it.”
Yod tapped twice on the mountain. Just then, the mountain wall began to open, revealing a hidden passageway.
“Whoa, a hidden passageway?” Scootaloo asked with excitement.
“It was created many years ago as a secret lair and training ground,” Yod explained.
“Secret Lair?” Leo asked.
“Follow me,” Yod instructed as he led the others.
Yod led the gang down a tunnel that was lit by flame torches.
“So, where are we going again?” Mikey asked.
“To meet with someone who wishes to meet with you,” Yod simply said.
“And who exactly is this person that is so interested in us?” Twilight asked
“And the fact you told him about our existence!” Raph exclaimed, angry that someone couldn't be trusted with their secret.
“I can't really lie to him, especially about the Hamato Clan,” Yod explained, “You'll find out when you meet him.”
The gang continued to walk until they reached giant double doors at the end. Yod opened the doors. Casey tried to enter, but Yod stopped him.
“Remember what I said about before entering people's homes and sacred places,” Yod said as he removed his boots.
“Oh, of course, darling,” Rarity replied.
The gang and Yod removed their shoes, which was still very important, before entering. They were walking through what looked like a dojo.
“What is this place?” Fluttershy asked
“This is where I trained to be the warrior I am now,” Yod said, feeling grateful for the place.
They then approached an elderly man. He was brown-skinned, with one hazel eye and the other blind. He had brown dreadlocks and wore black robes that reached his ankles. However, the gang saw that he had only one foot, as the other was prosthetic.

“Everyone, meet my sensei... Abhib Tal,” Yod introduced his mentor.
Leo stepped forward, “Greetings, Abhib Tal.” Leo bows, with the others following suit.
Abhib slowly approaches Leo.
“So I finally meet the new Master of the Hamato Clan,” Abhib said with a severe face, but then he smiled. “Yoshi's son.”
Abhib then began to laugh as he hugged Leo. The others were a bit freaked out but this development.
“Okay, who are you, and how do you know about Master Splinter?” Raph asked the man.
“Yes, you deserve an explanation,” Abhib said.
Abhib pulled up his right sleeve, revealing a tattoo of the Hamato Clan symbol. The gang was shocked to see it.
“I don't believe it,” Karai said in shock.
“You're a member of the Hamato Clan,” Sunset realised.
“Yes, from so many years ago,” Abhib explained.
“Would it be alright if you explained it to us?” Donnie asked.
Everyone sat down together to hear Abhib's story. Abhib took a deep breath and began to tell them, “To start, many years ago, when I was a child, I lived on the streets of Reinkani. I always stole food and gold from other people. Until one day, when I was nine years old, I stole from the wrong person. I was chased until I hid on a ship that docked on Reinkani. After which, the ship left, making its way to Japan with me in it. I hid on the ship until it docked, where I was discovered by Hamato Yuuta.”
“Our grandfather?” Leo asked.
Abhib continued, “Yes. Yuuta saw potential in me. He brought me to his Dojo, where he trained me, and I excelled. I found my home with the Clan. Then, when I was twelve, Yuuta's wife, Hamato Akari, gave birth to their son, Yoshi”
The gang gasped when they heard about their master's birth.
Donnie then realised something, “If you knew about Yoshi, did you know about... Oroku Saki?”
Abhib had a grim look on his face as he continued his story.
“I was there during the final battle between the Hamato and Foot Clans, leading to our victory. When Yuuta adopted Oroku Saki, I was hesitant, but I supported his decision. I watched the boys grow and even helped them train. While Saki was just a young student, Yoshi was like a little brother to me.”
The group were happy to hear about their fallen Sensei.
“So, would that, technically, make you our uncle?” Mikey asked.
Abhib couldn't help but chuckle, “I guess so, in a way.”
“Did you also know Hamato Mitsu?” Gabby asked.
Abhib's face was sullen. “Mitsu. She was always distant from me. I tried to be nice, and while she was civil, she never truly acknowledged me. She was more focused on her studies.”
“Were you there when Mitsu was banished?” Shini asked.
Abhib shook his head, “I heard about her banishment. I was disappointed. She had so much passion for the Clan, but it looked like it went to her head.”
The Ninjas all looked at each other awkwardly, not knowing how to tell Abhib about Mitsu.
Karai decided to change the subject. “Did you ever meet his wife, Tang Shen?” Karai asked about her mother.
“I remember her, a beautiful young girl. I remember how much Yoshi really loved her,” Abhib said, feeling nostalgic. “You may not know this, but Yoshi was a hopeless romantic with her. And whenever he tried to impress her, he would end up embarrassing himself.”
The Ninjas laughed, hearing a different side of Splinter.
“Master Splinter never told us that,” Donnie pointed out.
“Doubt he was ever proud of how he would embarrass himself,” Yod pointed out.
“Kind of like how you were once with April,” Mikey pointed out, causing the smart turtle to glare at him.
The ninjas all laughed at Donnie; even April laughed. Once they calmed down, Abhib continued.
“After I left and returned to Reinkani, I heard Yoshi won Shen's heart. I was very happy for them.”
“So, how come you left?” Fluttershy asked.
“Yeah, how could you leave the clan?” Rainbow asked.
Yod started off, “As my family told you earlier, the Hamato Clan helped Reinkani in a dire need when invaders attacked our country.”
“Those invaders were an enemy of the Clan. Yuuta declared we needed to stop them, but I was hesitant. I knew I had to face my past. So I accompanied Yuuta as he and the clan arrived to save Reinkani.”
The Ninjas were awed by Abhib's bravery.
“We defeated the invaders, and the Hamato Clan gained recognition. I even saved Queen Unna's life. She was so grateful she offered me a to be a warrior for Reinkani. I was hesitant, but then I remembered when I needed a guardian here but didn't get one. I knew I had to be that Guardian. So after returning to Japan and getting some things in order, which included saying goodbye to Yuuta and Yoshi, I returned home and became Reinkani's first Guardian.”
Yod continued, “Master Abhib was a great protector to Reinkani. He protected the towns from mercenaries and protected the Royal Family from those who disagreed. He became a symbol of protection.”
Abhib chuckled, “I didn't do it alone. I also trained four others to help me. We became the Guardians. But I still kept in touch of Yoshi. He sent me many letters about how the Clan went on. Eventually about him marrying Tang Shen, then about the birth of his daughter, Miwa.”
Karai was surprised when she heard that.
Then Abhib's face turned down, “Then the letters just stopped one day.”
The gang instantly knew what that meant.
“After a year of nothing, I went over there to see them. My team came with me. When we arrived, I learned the truth. Filled with rage, I confronted Oroku Saki, or as he went by then... The Shredder. We fought, and we were losing. I managed to escape,” Abhib subconsciously rubbed the side of his face where his blind eye is and his prosthetic leg, “... almost unscathed.”
Everyone was shocked to hear what happened.
“A... And the other Guardians?” Applebloom asked in fear.
Abhib sighed, “The other Guardians, my teammates, my friends... they weren't so lucky.”
The others were horrified at the fate of the other Guardians.
“After that, I just returned home. I mourned the loss of my teammates. I renounced my position as Guardian and have remained here. Too scared, too ashamed to return.”
After hearing Abhib Tal's tale, the gang felt sorry for the man.
“I'm so sorry for what happened to you,” Leo gave his regards.
“We know what it's like to lose loved ones to the Shredder,” Karai said as the others thought about their late master.
“I thought Yoshi was killed by him as well, but now I hear he survived and gained pupils. Turtles at that,” Abhib admitted with a smile. “How is he?”
The others had awkward faces, which turned into sad looks.
Sunset spoke up, “The thing is….”
That was enough for Abhib to realise the truth. Abhib put his head down in shame.
“So he really is gone now,” Abhib said with his head down. “Now it feels like I lost him all over again.”
The others felt sorry for destroying Abhib's hope. Karai decided...
“Did you ever find out what happened to Miwa?” Karai asked.
“She died at the hands of Shredder as well,” Abhib admitted.
Karai took a deep breath, “Actually, she didn't because I'm Hamato Miwa.
Abhib gasped at this information. “You live?
“Yes.” Karai shared her story of being taken by the Shredder as a baby and how she grew up believing that Splinter had killed her mother. Eventually, she uncovered the truth, which fueled her desire for revenge against Shredder, leading to a series of events. She then transformed into her snake form, surprising everyone, especially the master. Then she partially shifted back, explaining, “This resulted in my mutation and subsequent brainwashing by Shredder.”
Karai finished explaining how she escaped Shredder's control and vowed revenge against him. They explained how Shredder killed Splinter and Leo took out Shredder once and for all.
"You were right to take down Shredder, better than I was," Abhib told them. “After being defeated by Shredder, I remained here in isolation, away from the people. I even ceased my duties as Guardian of Reinkani."
“So you just gave up?” Gabby asked.
“Yes. I couldn't bare to see anyone else's faces again, especially the loved ones of my fallen teammates. So I gave away almost everything I had to them.”
“Everything? Keno asked.
“I compensated the families of my Guardian teammates. Most were understanding, but it didn't make the pain easier. Others weren't so understanding," Abhib explained.
“Loss can do that to some people,” Leo said, understanding the pain.
“I just isolated myself from the world. I refused to let anyone else in... that was until...”
Yod took over, “Me. When I was ten years old, this kid bullied me a lot. My status as the Queen's grandson didn't matter to him. So, one day, I was being chased when I found and hid in the hidden cave. I thought I lost him, but he saw me quickly. He had me cornered until Master Abhib came and defended me.”
Abhib continued, “I showed the bully my skills and scared him off. And then I also expected young Yod to leave, even told him to. But he kept asking me these questions, much to my annoyance.”
Yod took over, “When I was younger, I wasn't as popular with the other kids. Vera and a few others were the only ones I was close with, along with Aaserack when I found him as a baby bird. I was the cousin to the next ruler, so I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. But when I saw Abhib, I wanted to learn to fight like him, mainly to show I'm not some weakling.”
“I refused at first,” Abhib continued, “But he kept insisting. He was persistent; I'll give him that. Finally, I gave in. I trained him the same way Yuuta trained me, but when we began, he had... troubles. But over time, he improved until he became the warrior he is now, and still couldn't be prouder.”
“From what we've seen, you were trained well,” Raph told Yod, impressed with Yod's skills.
“Thanks,” Yod replied. “During my training, I handled a lot of stuff alone, but after Seattle, I realised that I couldn't do things alone. In other words, I needed a team.”
“We're glad to fight with you, but we're only here temporarily,” Sunset refused.
Yod chuckled, “I wasn't talking about you guys.”
Just then, April used her powers to stop something behind her: arrows with sacks tied to the front.
Then, Lakshy popped out, in wielding a longbow and arrows on his back. The boy then fired another arrow at the ground, which released smoke into the room, blinding the ninjas.
“I can’t see a thing,” Rainbow said as the ninjas got into fighting position.
They were then attacked, but they fought back against their attackers once they recovered. Once the smoke cleared, they met three other individuals around their age.
One was a black-skinned girl with short black hair, wearing a red dress with black leggings and gold bracelets and holding a metal spear.

Another was a young, muscular man with brown skin and brown hair in a ponytail. He wore a yellow sleeveless top, blue pants, fingerless gloves, and a rainbow armband and held a pair of twin maces.

The last one was a teenage boy with brown skin and brown hair, wearing a purple shirt, a black jacket, black pants, glasses, and mechanical gauntlets on his hands.

The three teens and the one with the longbow gathered together and bowed to them.
Yod stood before them, “Everyone, meet my team.”
The four people stood together as Yod introduced them. “After watching footage of you guys on the Ice Fortress, I decided I needed a team of my own, so I recruited them.” Yod put his hand on the shoulder of the one with the longbow, “This is Lakshy, the team's marksman.”
“I have a gift for hitting nearly impossible targets,” Lakshy boasted as looked into a mirror and pointed his bowbehind him and drew back an arrow. He then fired it at a moving target, which the arrow hit dead centre.
Yod then moved on to the girl. “This is Intari, our tracker, huntress and survivalist.”
“Greetings, giant turtles. I never thought I would say that before,” Intari said to the turtles.
“Gee, thanks,” Raph said, feeling annoyed.
Intari then approached Rainbow, “So, you're the famous Rainbow Dash.”
“Yep, that's me,” Rainbow boasted, feeling her ego boost.
“Don't see what all the fuss is about,” Intari said, bursting Rainbow's bubble.
“Hey,” Rainbow retorted, feeling insulted.
To avoid any further conflict between his teammate and the one he loves, Yod moved on to the big, muscled one. “This is Peshaan, the big muscle.”
“Greetings, new friends,” Peshaan said, bowing to them.
“Whoa, the guy's pretty zen,” Mikey whispered to them.
Yod moved on to the last one. “And finally, this is Soch, our resident genius.”
Donnie was interested in Soch's gauntlets, “Did you make those blasters yourself?”
“Yep, they blast light through these concentrated crystals inside the gauntlets, allowing them to create energy blasts,” Soch explained to the turtle.
“Fascinating,” Twilight remarked. “And the snake design?”
“Because snakes are cool,” Soch admitted.
Karai couldn’t help but take it as a compliment. “You like snakes, huh?” Karai transformed into her snake form, much to their new friend’s surprise. “Then I think we’ll get along just fine.” Karai transformed back while chuckling at the looks on their faces.
“This is an impressive set-up you have here,” Leo complimented as the others recovered.
“Thanks,” Yod replied.
“Yod saw potential in them. I was hesitant at first, but they've proven themselves worthy.” Abhib said, which the Guardians then bowed in appreciation.
As the ninjas conversed, they heard some soft noises, suggesting someone was attempting to sneak up on them but was unsuccessful.
Karai shook her head, “Three, two, one...”
A figure tried to sneak attack them, but Karai grabbed them and threw them to the ground. It was Princess Vera, wearing a training uniform.
“You could hear me, huh?” The princess said, clearly embarrassed.
“Only a few grunts,” Karai said cheekily.
“Which is an improvement,” Yod tried to encourage.
“Why is the crown princess trying to sneak up behind us?” Casey asked.
“Just practising on my stealth,” Vera said.
“Not well enough, apparently,” Intari muttered.
“After the Ice Fortress incident, she asked me to train her,” Yod explained.
Vera looked down in shame, “At the time, my family and I were almost destroyed, and we nearly lost the kingdom. I'm meant to be the next queen soon, but how can I protect my country if I can't protect myself?”
“That's very wise of you, Princess,” Leo told Vera.
Karai stepped forward, saying, “Well, if you need training, I'm happy to give you a hand, princess.” Karai gave a smirk that said, ‘You're not going to survive this.’ That made the princess nervous.
Just then, Soch's gauntlet began to beep. Soch pressed a button, and it revealed a holographic screen.
“Is that a holographic screen?” Donnie asked.
“Yep, I managed to figure out holographic technology,” Soch explained while he pressed a few more buttons on his gauntlet. Soch then got worried, “Yod, there’s another robbery in progress in the town square, not far from here. It's the same people from before.”
“Oh no,” Vera said, worried for her people.
“We'll handle it,” Yod said in determination.
“Need some backup?” Raph said with a smirk while cracking his knuckles.
Yod smiled in appreciation, “That would be wonderful, my friend.”
Applejack turned to the CMC, Sweetheart and Melody, “You kids stay here. We got this.”
“Aw, Apple rot,” Applebloom said in disappointment.
“I'll take them back to the castle,” Vera offered.
“Thank you, your Highness,” Rarity thanked the princess.
The Ninjas and Yod's team began to leave the cave.
“Let's show these bad guys what we're all made of,” Lakshy said enthusiastically.
