Mellow Glow's Journal
OH SH×T! I GOT MAIL!!!: Day - 23
Previous ChapterNext ChapterMellow shot up in bed, the sound of Snookie's squeaking jolting her out of her slumber. She took the 3D Book from her face, the pages of the stories crumpled and warm from her cheek. She looked around the room, the early morning light streaming in through the windows, casting a soft glow across the floorboards.
Her eyes fell on Snookie, who was standing at the end of the bed with a letter held delicately in her mouth. "Oh my stars!⭐️" Mellow exclaimed, her heart racing as she took the envelope ✉️. It was the first time she had seen Snookie do anything other than eat, spin, sleep and showoff. "What do you have there?"
Snookie squeaked again, dropping the letter into Mellow's hooves. The paper was thick and creamy, the seal a perfect wax emblem of a dragon's claw. Mellow's heart 💓 pounded in her chest as she broke the seal, her eyes scanning the neat script. It was a response to her ad. Someone had taken her job offer seriously.
The letter was short but intriguing. An albino dragon, curious about her situation and willing to meet in secret. The Whistling Woods at dawn 🌲The words danced before her eyes, setting her imagination alight with excitement. This was it, her chance to take control of her life again, to have zero restrictions and bodyguard she so desperately needed for her plan to work.
With trembling hooves, she reread the letter, her mind racing with the possibilities of who this mysterious dragon could be. Was he kind? Strong? Would he understand her and keep her secret? The anticipation was almost too much to bear.
Mellow knew that she had to be prepared for the meeting. She took a few deep breaths, reminding herself that she had time before dawn. With a determined look, she set to work. First, she took off her Ruffle Shirt 👕 It was a beautiful shade of sky-blue, but she knew it was no match for her fiery sneezes. Carefully, she began to weave a spell around the fabric, enchanting it to be both flame-resistant 🔥 and waterproof 💦. The shirt grew warm under her touch, the threads shimmering with a faint, protective aura.
Once her shirt was sufficiently safeguarded, she put it back on and turned her attention to Snookie. The spider had been a loyal companion, but she was still a bit... messy. With a flick of her magic, Mellow cast a hygiene spell, the runes etching themselves into the air before enveloping Snookie in a soft, glowing light. Dirt and grime slid away from the spider's body, leaving her gleaming and clean 🧼. Snookie squeaked in delight, spinning around in her newfound cleanliness.
Finally, she looked at herself in the small mirror 🪞 above the dresser. Her mane and tail were a mess, and she knew she had to look presentable. She focused her magic, the runes swirling around her hooves. With a pop, she felt the dirt and tangles vanish, her coat shimmering as if it had been freshly washed. Her Mane and Tail has been untangled and now perfectly swirled while her entire outfit has been cleaned.
With a grin, she reached into her magical pouch and pulled out two small bottles 🧴. One was filled with a sparkling pink liquid that smelled like the sweetness of peach 🍑 lychee on a summer's day. The other held a fine, iridescent mist that shimmered in the sunlight or moonlight. She sprayed the perfume first, the delightful scent filling the room. Then, with a flick of her wrist, she coated her mane and tail in a fine mist of glitter ✨️. The sparkles danced around her, clinging to the strands of her hair like stardust.
Mellow heard a knock on her door and it was the receptionist, her voice cheerful and bright. "Breakfast is ready, dear," she called out. "You should eat with the others."
Mellow's smile faltered for a moment, her heart racing. She had been so caught up in her preparations that she had almost forgotten about the other foals. But she knew she couldn't hide in her room forever. Taking a deep breath, she steeled herself and called back, "Thank you. We'll be right there."
As they approached the cafeteria, the smell of freshly baked muffins 🧁 and hot oatmeal 🥣 filled the air, making her stomach growl. Snookie squeezed her hoof reassuringly, and she took comfort in the spider's presence. Entering the bustling room, she spotted a table in the corner, mostly empty except for a few foals who were too busy with their food to notice her. That would be perfect, she thought.
The cafeteria was a whirlwind of activity, with foals of all shapes and sizes chattering away as they scarfed down their breakfast. Mellow's eyes darted around the room, looking for any signs of trouble or unwanted attention. She led Snookie to the table and sat down, her hooves tapping nervously against the floor. The other foals at the table glanced up at her, their eyes widening slightly at the sight of the gleaming spider and her bipedal stance. But they said nothing, focusing instead on their food.
Mellow took a deep breath and served herself a plate of oatmeal, her hooves shaking slightly. She took a spoonful and tasted it, the warmth spreading through her body like a comforting blanket. As she ate, she studied the faces around her, looking for any sign of curiosity or bullies. But all she found was the innocent chatter of foals enjoying their morning meal.
Honestly she was glad the Orphanage she was in was Nice, not the horrors she had read or watched from Fanfiction or Movies... maybe she shouldn't mix her fictions into her new Reality...
She had a mission to complete, a future to forge. Her eyes drifted to the window, where the first light of day was just beginning to peek through the clouds. She had to stay sharp, stay focused.
The clock ticked away the minutes, each one feeling like an eternity. She finished her breakfast, the food sitting heavy in her stomach. The dragon's letter weighed on her mind like a stone, the promise of a new beginning calling to her like a siren's song.
As the last of the foals cleared their plates and the cafeteria grew quiet, she stood up, her eyes never leaving the window. "Let's go, Snookie," she whispered. "We have an appointment to keep."
The two of them made their way to the door, the 2 clatter of shoes against the floor seemingly amplified in the emptiness of the room. As they stepped outside, the cool morning air brushed against her cheeks, carrying with it the scent of dew-kissed leaves and the promise of a new day.
They hurried through the deserted halls, their footsteps echoing through the emptiness. She couldn't wait to get to the Whistling Woods 🌳, to meet the albino dragon who might just hold the key to her freedom. As they reached the front door, Mellow took one last look back at the orphanage, her heart heavy with the weight of her decision.
With a deep breath, she stepped out into the world, Snookie at her side. The sun ☀️ had just begun to rise, casting long shadows across the path ahead.
They made their way to the town square, the cobblestone streets cool beneath their hooves. The square was bustling with early morning activity, with creatures setting up stalls and chatting in hushed tones. She scanned the area, her eyes searching for the tell-tale sign of a cartographer's shop.
Mellow spotted a pony with a large map spread out on a table, surrounded by curious townsfolk. He looked up as they approached, his eyes twinkling with interest. "Looking for something in particular?" he asked, his mane a wild tangle of colors.
Mellow nodded, trying to keep her voice steady. "I need a map of Ponyville and the surrounding areas," she said, her eyes darting to the clock ⏰️ tower. Making sure she's not late.
The cartographer's smile grew wider, revealing a set of teeth that looked like they had seen better days. "Ah, a young adventurer, are we?" he said, his voice carrying a hint of mischief. "Well, you've come to the right place. I'll make sure you get the best map I have. For a small fee, of course."
Mellow fished out a few bits from her pouch, the clinking sound music to the pony's ears. He rolled the map with surprising speed and handed it to her. "Take care now," he said.
With the map securely in her pouch, Mellow studied the cartographer closely, noticing the way he winced slightly with every smile, his teeth a dull, yellowed mess. Her heart 🧡 went out to the elderly stallion, and she knew she had to help. Reaching into her magical pouch, she pulled out a small vial 🍾 filled with a shimmering blue liquid.
"Sir," she said, her voice barely above a whisper, "I have something that might make your day a little better." She offered the potion tentatively, her eyes filled with concern. The cartographer looked at the vial with suspicion before finally taking it in his hooves, his curiosity piqued.
He uncorked the bottle and took a tentative sniff. The scent of mint 🌿 and a hint of cinnamon 🍪 wafted through the air. He took a small sip, the liquid tingling on his tongue before he swallowed. Instantly, a warm sensation spread through his body, reaching all the way to his tail. His eyes widened in amazement as the pain in his back eased, and his teeth felt cleaner than they had in years.
"Thank you, my dear," he said, his voice filled with genuine warmth and wonder. "I've not felt this good in ages!" He took another sip, the smile on his face growing wider. The townsfolk around them stared in astonishment, whispering among themselves. Mellow felt a swell of pride in her chest.
With a final nod to the stallion, she turned to leave, her hooves carrying her away from the square and towards the location of Whistling Woods. The map 🗺 was know rolled tightly in her hooves, ready to put it back in her pouch since she had already read it quickly, the edges digging slightly into her skin. She had a mission to accomplish, a meeting to attend, and she couldn't let anything distract her now.
The journey to the woods was peaceful, the only sound the soft rustle of leaves of Fall🍂 🍁 and the occasional birdcall. She took the time to appreciate the beauty of the world around her, the way the light played through the trees, casting dappled shadows on the ground.
As she approached the woods, Snookie could feel a slight tremble in the earth, the anticipation of a new arrival just around the corner. Snookie climbed up to her shoulder, her 4 eyes blinking and nuzzling Mellow's cheeks letting her know that the Gust is arriving soon.
Mellow took a deep breath, steeling herself for what was to come. She knew that the dragon she was about to meet could either be her salvation or her downfall. But she had come this far, and she wasn't about to turn back now. With a determined stride, she stepped into the woods, the shadows swallowing her up as she disappeared into the foliage.
The Whistling Woods lived up to their name, with a gentle breeze whispering through the trees, creating a soft melody that seemed to guide her deeper into the heart of the forest. She had studied the map 🗺 thoroughly, committing every twist and turn to memory. She had to be sure she wouldn't get lost.
As she walked, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. She glanced around, her eyes scanning the underbrush for any signs of life. But all she saw were the shadows playing tricks on her.
Finally, she reached the clearing, the sunlight breaking through the canopy in a kaleidoscope of colors. She knew she was early, but she had always been one to prepare.
Mellow pulled out one large, ornate table and two chairs from her magical pouch. The furniture looked as if it belonged in a royal garden rather than a forest clearing, but she wanted to make a good impression. With a flick of enchanted runes, she levitated them to the center of the space and arranged them neatly. Then, she she pulled out a small tablecloth that fluttered down to cover the tabletop, setting it with a bouquet of wildflowers 💐 she had picked along the way.
Next, she pulled out some gourmet spread from her pouch, a silver platter laden with mouth-watering meat sandwiches 🥪 appeared before her, the scent of fresh bread 🥖 and roast beef wafting through the air. She added a few sparkling gems 💎 to the arrangement, knowing that dragons can eat them and is a part of their diet.
With everything in place, she took a step back and admired her hoofwork. It was a simple yet elegant setup, one that she hoped would convey her sincerity and respect. The glow from the gems cast a soft light, creating a serene ambiance that was only occasionally broken by the distant hoot of an owl or the flutter of wings.
And so she waited, her heart racing with every rustle of leaves. Each passing minute felt like an eternity as she rehearsed what she would say to the albino dragon. Her thoughts were a jumble of hope, fear, and determination.
Finally, the sound of heavy footsteps reached her ears, and she turned to see the dragon emerging from the shadows. He was an average height like any other Teenager his age, with scales as pale as moonlight and eyes that is very Pink and Red. He looked around the clearing, his gaze lingering on the table before finally resting on Mellow.
HOLLY SH×T! Mellow thought.
IS THAT BUCKING FIZZLE?!?!
I deicide to use my Analyze Skills to see what he is wearing, He's wearing UV Transition Sunglasses, UV Clothing Protection and UV Radiation Sunscreen. It definitely makes sense, since he did say that he's Albinism in his Letters.
But I never expected it to be Fizzle of all Dragons, of course I kept my thoughts to myself and remained Professional.
"Ah, you must be the one l've been waiting for," he rumbled, his voice a mix of curiosity and amusement. "The little Pegasi who needed a Bodyguard."
Mellow nodded, her heart beating calmed. "Yes, I'm Mellow," she said, trying to keep her voice steady. "Thank you for meeting me, Mr. Dragon."
Fizzle took a seat, his tail swishing lazily behind him. "Please, call me Fizzle or Fizz for short," he said with a grin. "So, tell me more about this 'situation' of yours.
Mellow took a deep breath and began to explain her predicament, her eyes never leaving Fizzle's as she spoke while he ate. "I don't want to be adopted," she said firmly. "I have my own goals, my own dreams that I need to chase."
Fizzle paused, a sandwich halfway to his mouth. "And what exactly are these dreams?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.
"I want to explore the world, learn new things, and help those in need, I also want to open my own business with my Vendor Stand," she replied, her voice filled with passion. "But if the receptionist finds me a home, I won't be able to leave. I'll be stuck in one place, and that's just not for me."
The dragon's eyes searched hers, understanding the gravity of her words. "But you're just a foal," he pointed out. "The world is a big and dangerous place."
Mellow's expression didn't waver. "I know," she said. "But I'm not like the others. I've been training, learning. I can take care of myself."
Fizzle took a moment to consider her words, his eyes thoughtful. "Alright," he said finally. "I'll adopt you, but we need to keep this between us."
Mellow's heart leaped with relief. "Thank you," she said, her voice choking up slightly. "I promise I won't let you down."
Fizzle took a bite of his sandwich, chewing thoughtfully. "And what about Snookie?" he asked. "Is she part of the deal?"
Mellow nodded, a smile playing at the corners of her lips. "Of course," she said. "We're a package deal." 📦
The dragon chuckled, his scales rattling. "Very well," he said. "But you must promise me one thing."
"Anything," she said, eager to seal the deal.
"You must not take your newfound freedom for granted," Fizzle said, his gaze serious. "I'll be watching over you since I'm basically your Bodyguard and I will pretend to be your Dad, but I won't be your babysitter. You have to learn to rely on yourself and make the right choices."
Mellow nodded solemnly, her eyes shining with determination. "I promise," she said. "I'll make you proud."
The dragon leaned back in his chair, his gaze sweeping over the feast before them. "Now," he said with a grin, "let's eat. We have much to discuss."
The 3 of them enjoyed their meal in companionable silence, the only sounds the clink of silverware against Canterlot and the occasional crackle of leaves. The tension in the air had lifted, replaced by a tentative friendship.
As they finished their meal, Fizzle leaned forward, his expression serious once more. "We must come up with a plan," he said. "One that will allow you to explore while keeping your secret safe."
Mellow's mind raced with ideas, her heart fluttering with excitement. "I've been thinking about it," she said. "I plan to stay in the Orphanage for 2 or 3 days because it would be very suspicious if you came to adopt me right away."
The dragon's smile grew. "Clever Filly," he said. "Very well. We'll pretend to be a Single Dad who wants a Hatchling of their own."
Mellow's eyes lit up. "Really?" she asked, barely able to contain her excitement.
Fizzle nodded. "But remember," he cautioned, "you're still a foal. You must be careful."
Mellow nodded solemnly. "I will," she promised. "Thank you, Fizzle."
The dragon winked at her. "Consider it as a Thank You, Boss." he said. "And who knows? Maybe one day your Products will become famous in Equestria and be well-known."
The two of them stood, the early morning dew glistening on the leaves around them. Snookie chirped happily.
"I'll see you in a few days," Fizzle said, his voice low. "Until then, keep your head down and don't do anything Suspicious."
Mellow nodded, her heart racing. "I will," she said. "Thank you again."
With one final wave, Fizzle took to the skies, his wings casting a shadow across the clearing before he disappeared into the clouds. Mellow watched him go, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension.
They turned and began the journey back to the orphanage, the silence of the woods seemingly amplifying the sound of her shoes on the dirt path. Mellow couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. She had found her way out of the predicament, at least for now.
But as they drew closer to the town, she couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't quite right. A knot formed in her stomach, and she picked up her pace, her shoes beating a steady rhythm against the ground.
As they reached the orphanage, she saw a group of creatures gathered outside the gates, their expressions grim. Her heart sank as she realized that she had been gone longer than she had intended.
Nurse Redheart and the Receptionist rushed over to them, Their eyes wide with worry. "Mellow!" she exclaimed. "Where have you been? We've been searching for you everywhere!"
Mellow took a deep breath, preparing herself for the questions she knew would come. "I just went for a walk," she said, trying to keep her voice steady. "I didn't mean to worry anyone creatures."
The nurse's expression softened, but the concern didn't leave her eyes while the receptionist checked all over them to make sure nothing is wrong. "Well, you're safe now," she said. "Let's get you inside."
As Nurse Redheart went back home after a huge scolding Mellow got from both of them. After that she followed the receptionist back to her room, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt.
She didn't realize that she was gone for that long and she didn't want to worry any Creature at all.
As she had made a deal with Fizzle, Mellow wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do. But she also knew that she couldn't bear the thought of being trapped in a home she didn't choose.
After all it was her Idea 💡 and Plans, getting adopted will hinder her Future and Secrets.
He saw her bed had been remade and her room has been freshly Mopped and Dusted, It was a stark reminder of her old life she had left behind, she shook her head quickly not wanting to remember all the Cringe stuff.
With a heavy heart, she climbed onto the bed, Snookie curling up beside her. "We're going to be okay," she whispered to the spider, her eyes filling with tears. "I'll make sure of it."
Snookie's gentle nuzzle brought a small smile to her face, and she leaned into the warmth of her companion.
[Silver Lining & Nurse Redheart POV]
Receptionist Silver Lining had been going about her usual morning routine when she noticed that Mellow and Snookie were missing. She glanced around, expecting the young foal and her spider to appear from behind a bookshelf 📚 or around the corner at any moment, but they remained absent. Her brow furrowed in concern, she checked the time and realized it was already well past Mellow's Lunch, Afternoon Snack and Dinner...
Silver Lining knew that the young Pegasi had been through so much, and she had grown quite attached to her during her stay. She didn't want anything to happen to her. She called out for Mellow, her voice echoing through the hallways of the orphanage, but there was no reply.
Her concern grew as the hours ticked by, and she called upon the staff to assist in the search. They checked every nook and cranny, every room, and every hiding place they could think of, but the two were nowhere to be found. The sun ☀️ began to dip below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the orphanage.
As the worry grew into panic, Silver Lining made the decision to visit Nurse Redheart. She knew that the kind-hearted nurse had developed a special bond with Mellow and would know what to do.
Nurse Redheart's eyes snapped open at the sound of the door bursting open. "What's wrong?" she asked, her voice groggy with sleep.
"It's Mellow," Silver Lining said, her voice trembling. "We can't find her anywhere."
Nurse Redheart bolted upright, her eyes wide with shock. "What do you mean?"
The receptionist explained the situation, her voice rising with urgency. "We've searched everywhere. She's just... gone!"
Without a second thought, Nurse Redheart jumped out of bed, grabbed her flashlight and throwing a cloak around her shoulders. "We must alert your staff," she said, her voice firm. "We'll search through Ponyville at twilight."
The two mares raced to the orphanage, their hooves pounding the cobblestone streets as they called out Mellow's name. Some of the townsfolk stirred from their slumber, peering out their windows in confusion at the commotion.
As Twilight broke, a small figure emerged from the shadows, looking lost and a little scared. It was Mellow, her eyes wide with confusion as she took in the sea of worried faces. The receptionist's heart nearly stopped as she saw the young foal, her mane slightly disheveled and her eyes filled with tears when she slowly realized what she had done.
"Mellow!" she called, her voice filled with relief.
The foal looked around, her gaze finally settling on the nurse and receptionist. "I'm sorry," she said, her voice small. "I just went for a walk. I didn't mean to worry any Creature."
The receptionist's legs gave out from under her, and she sank to the ground, her relief so profound it was almost painful. "Thank Celestia," she murmured, her eyes brimming with tears.
The staff gathered around, their expressions a mix of relief and anger. They had been worried sick, and now they had to deal with the aftermath of a young foal's impulsive decision. But in that moment, all that mattered was that she was safe.
Silver Lining took Mellow aside, her eyes searching the young Pegasi's face. "Where have you been?" she asked gently.
Mellow looked down, her ears drooping. "I just went for a walk," she repeated. "I didn't mean to be gone so long."
The nurse sighed, her gaze softening. "You know you can't just leave like that," she said. "You had us all worried sick."
Mellow nodded, the weight of their concern heavy on her shoulders. "I know," she whispered. "I'm sorry."
The nurse leaned in, her voice low. "You're a strong and capable foal," she said. "But you're still just a filly. You can't handle everything on your own."
Mellow nodded again, her eyes filling with tears. "I know," she said.
The receptionist looked at her sternly. "You scared us all, Mellow. You can't just disappear like that."
Mellow nodded again, her lower lip quivering. "I'm sorry," she whispered. "It won't happen again."
Silver Lining gaze softened, and she took a deep breath. "Mellow, we understand that you're feeling restless," she said, her voice gentle but firm. "But you must understand that you can't just leave without telling us where you're going. You're still a foal, and Equestria is a big, unpredictable place. We need to know that you're safe."
Mellow looked down at her shoes, feeling the heat of embarrassment rise to her cheeks. "I know," she murmured. "I'm sorry. I just wanted to see the town."
Nurse Redheart nodded, her expression serious. "We're not mad," she said. "But we need you to be more responsible. If you ever need to go out, just tell one of the grown ups in the orphanage. They would have come with you if you'd like."
Mellow nodded, feeling the weight of their words. She knew they were right. "I will," she promised. "I won't do it again."
The two adults exchanged a look before the receptionist nodded. "Good," she said. "Now, go to your room and think about what you've done. I hope this will have taught you a lesson."
With a heavy heart, Mellow made her way back to her room, Snookie trailing behind her. The spider seemed to sense her sadness and climbed up onto her bed, wrapping her legs around her in a comforting embrace.
As she lay there, staring up at the ceiling, Mellow couldn't help but feel guilty. She had promised Fizzle she would be careful, but she had gone and done something stupid. That whole situation made her very tired so she fall fast asleep.
Author's Note
Fizzle was watching 👀 Mellow the whole time, he thinks the Pouch is just an Average Enchanted Bag so she's able to Carry stuff.
Not Knowing that it's the most Dangerous thing that Mellow Owns.
Also Mellow decided to leave the table and chairs in Whistling Woods 🪵 because she want it to be a nice surprise 😮
If any Creature decided to take a stroll in the forest.
Also I finally thought of a good name for the receptionist, Silver Lining does not sound bad at all.
