I'll Do Something Nice Today: Day - 24

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

The first light of dawn had barely kissed the horizon when Snookie, the ever-vigilant guardian spider, nudged Mellow awake. Her eight legs tickled the young Pegasi's nose, and Mellow's eyes fluttered open with a snort. She blinked sleepily, the events of the previous day rushing back to her. The guilt of causing worry to the creatures she had done to the staff in the orphanage.

"Thank you, Snookie," Mellow murmured, her voice still thick with sleep. "I know what I have to do."

The spider chirped in understanding, her eyes gleaming with pride at the foal's maturity. Mellow swung her legs over the side of the bed, the cold floor a jolting reminder of her resolve. She had come up with a plan to make amends during her restless night, and she was eager to set it into motion.

She quickly put her outfit on and cast rune magic to clean herself and Snookie, as her shoes barely made a sound as she padded down the hallway to the cafeteria kitchen, her stomach rumbling with excitement and nerves. Snookie's body glowed softly in the dim dark of the corridors, and she rummage through her magical pouch. She pull out all the ingredients.

Ingredients from her homeland.

With a flick of her wrist, the ingredients began to whirl and dance around her, forming a delightful symphony of flavors and aromas. Waffles took shape, their surfaces pocked with little bee-shaped craters filled with sweet honey syrup and chocolate chips buzzing like bees. Fruit Cream Brownies appeared next, their tops studded with berries that seemed to glisten with morning dew. Then, the delicate blooms of Flower Ravioli emerged, each one plump and perfect.

The kitchen counter grew crowded with her creations, Asthetic Strawberry Cream Sandwiches that looked like they were made by the hooves of a master pastry chef, a chilly Cinnamon Pumpkin Apple Pie Smoothie to bring nostalgia to the soul of foalhood memories, and a cauldron of Crockpot Butterbeer that bubbled with a comforting sweetness. Lastly, she conjured a pitcher of Pink Milk, the frothy beverage of her childhood, hoping it would bring a smile to the faces of the foals who will enjoy the meal while apologizing to the staff she had worried.

As the kitchen filled with the mouthwatering smells of breakfast, Mellow felt a sense of worry and Hopefulness wash over her. This was her way of saying sorry, her way of showing that she cared. She knew it wouldn't erase the fear they had felt, but it was a start. With a final flourish of her rune magic, she sent all the dishes floating to the cafeteria, eager to face the day and the apologies that awaited her.

The cafeteria was empty, the tables gleaming with the light from the early morning sun. She set each plate and dish down with a gentle thump, arranging them just so. The waffles with their bee-shaped craters filled with honey and chocolate chips, the fruit cream brownies, the strawberry cream sandwiches, and the cauldron of butterbeer steaming in the center of the table, a whole tray of Cinnamon Pumpkin Apple Pie Smoothie with the Tray next to it is Pink Milk. Snookie scurried around her, placing little sprinkles of spider web decorations here and there, adding a personal touch to the feast.

Mellow took a step back and surveyed her work. It was perfect. Or as perfect as she could make it. With a deep breath, she cast one more spell, this one to clean the entire kitchen and cafeteria area, leaving everything spotless. The floor shone like it had been freshly mopped, and not a crumb remained on any of the tables.

Her heart racing, she turned to Snookie. "Ready?" she whispered.

The spider nodded, her legs bobbing with excitement. Together, they made their way out of the kitchen and into the main hallway, where they could hear the distant chatter of the waking orphanage. Mellow felt a knot in her stomach. Would the staff be mad? Would the foals like her food?

They reached the cafeteria doors and pushed them open. The room was filled with the chatter of the young foals, all eager to start their day. When they saw Mellow standing there, their conversations died down, and all eyes were on her. She took a deep breath, her heart pounding in her chest, and stepped forward.

The foals gasped as they saw the spread before them, their eyes widening in amazement. The staff looked up from their morning coffee, their expressions a mix of shock and suspicion.

Mellow cleared her throat, her voice shaky. "I made breakfast," she announced. "As an apology for worrying every creature. I know I kinda went overboard, but I hope it makes up for it."

The room was silent for a moment, and then, as if on cue, the foals rushed the table, their laughter and chatter filling the room as they piled their plates high with the delicious food. Mellow watched them, her heart swelling with joy and relief. Maybe, just maybe, she had done something right.

The staff looked at each other, then at Mellow. Silver Lining approached, her eyes softening as she took in the sight of the foals devouring the breakfast with glee. "Thank you, Mellow," she said. "This is... quite the apology."

Mellow looked down at her shoes. "I just wanted to make sure everyone was happy," she mumbled.

Silver Lining placed a gentle hoof on her shoulder. "You did," she said. "And we appreciate it."

Nurse Redheart also approached, a small smile playing on her lips. "But remember," she warned, "this doesn't mean you can just wander off again."

Mellow nodded, her cheeks reddening. "I won't," she promised.

The room buzzed with excitement as the foals and staff enjoyed the meal, their laughter and chatter filling the space. Mellow took a seat at the end of the table, Snookie by her side, and took a bite of one of her waffles. It was sweet and sticky, just like the honey from her homeland. Mellow is glad that they like her Food and not questioning how she did it.

One of the foals, a young Earth Pony named Thistle, took a tentative sip of the Pink Milk. "It's like drinking a cloud!" she exclaimed, her eyes lighting up. "It's so creamy and fluffy!"

The staff, too, couldn't help but sample the food. "This is... exquisite," said Chef Bloom Shear, her eyes wide with astonishment. "Where did you learn to cook like this?"

Mellow shrugged, her cheeks reddening with pride. "Back in Zokanwa," she said. "My mother taught me." It was a small lie, but she didn't want to reveal her magic capabilities. She watched as the staff members tried each dish, their expressions ranging from surprise to delight.

The headmistress, a wise old Pegasus named Wind Whisper, took a sip of the butterbeer. "This is heaven in a cup," she murmured, her eyes closing in pleasure. "It's like the warmth of a sunny day in a cool autumn breeze."

The foals devoured the fruit cream brownies, their little hooves reaching for more. "They taste like a picnic in a forest," said one, his mouth full of berries. "So fresh and sweet!"

Even the usually stern looking Staff couldn't help but crack a smile as he bit into a strawberry cream sandwich. "This is like a slice of art itself," he said, his eyes lighting up. "So simple, yet so perfectly balanced."

As the meal drew to a close, the foals and staff looked at Mellow with a newfound respect. Her gesture of apology had not only filled their bellies but also their hearts. They had seen the kindness and the love she had put into each dish, and it was clear that she truly cared for their well-being.

While the others talked and ate, Mellow's eyes and ears remained sharp, catching bits and pieces of their conversations. Most were about the delicious food, the creativity behind the dishes, and how much they enjoyed it. A few whispers about her magic and where she came from, but she didn't let it bother her. It was a small price to pay for their happiness.

Snookie's eyes lit up with each compliment they heard, her legs tapping an excited rhythm on the chair. Mellow couldn't help but smile at her friend's excitement. They were a team, and this was their victory.

Mellow felt a warmth spread through her as she saw the smiles and heard the laughter. Her heart felt lighter, the guilt of the previous night's escapade slowly fading away. As the last of the food disappeared and the foals cleared their plates, she knew she had done something right.

"Thank you, Mellow," said Silver Lining, her voice filled with gratitude. "This was truly a feast fit for a princess."

Mellow blushed, her eyes sparkling. "I'm just happy every creature enjoyed it," she said.

As Nurse Redheart approach, "Well you better finish up your tray, or you might accidentally missed recess time, so you two can go out and have fun." She said as she wave goodbye to every creature going back to Ponyville Hospital.

As Mellow try to finish up their meal, the foals began to drift away, their energy levels soaring from the sugary feast. The staff remained, talking in hushed tones that grew more serious as the cafeteria emptied. Mellow's heart raced. Were they discussing her future again? Or was it something else?

The director's voice grew louder, cutting through the chatter. "We need to consider her unique situation," he said to Silver Lining, he's an elderly stallion with a silver mane, his gaze falling on Mellow. "Her talents and her heritage make her a valuable asset to any home."

Mellow's heart skipped a beat. She didn't want to be an asset. She just wanted to be free. Free to explore the world she had read and waches so much about, to live her own adventure.

Silver Lining caught her eye, giving her a reassuring nod. "We're not giving up on you, Mellow," she said, her voice carrying across the table. "We're just trying to find the best Guardian for you."

Mellow took a deep breath, trying to push down the fear and anxiety. She knew they meant well, but the thought of being tied down to one place, one family, was suffocating.

But Mellow reminded herself to calm down and what for 1 or 2 more days, and Fizzle will Adopt her and Snookie out of this situation, scot free.
"Ok, I'm going to take a Nap in my Room." Mellow said Calmly as she pick up Snookie.

Silver Lining nodded with a smile "Sleep well, Mellow. Remember we are here for you."
Mellow nodded back and went to her room.

Once inside, she closed the door behind her and pulled out a small wooden doll from her magical pouch. It was a simple thing, but she had seen it in a anime once, and something about it had stuck with her. With a deep breath, she focused her magic and cast a runic spell. The doll grew before her eyes, becoming an eerily realistic copy of herself. She touched it gently, feeling the warmth of life that she had given it.

The doll's eyes fluttered open, and for a moment, Mellow felt a pang of guilt. It looked so much like her, so innocent and unsuspecting. Good thing she made sure it's not Sentient while the Doll will just behave and act like her including being able to Blood, Getting Injured, The Bones can Break and can talk if needed to. It was definitely necessary for her survival, and it kinda Works like a Hive Mind since she can linked herself to the Doll while her Real Body is safe.

With a quick flick of her wrist, she cast the same spell on the doll, creating a whole line of them. Each one looked as real as the next, their eyes open and trusting. After she made a ton of them, she puts all of the Dolls back in her pouch to use for emergencys later but positioning the last one on her bed, tucked under the covers, pretending to sleep. Mellow planned to Secretly Teleport back to Zokanwa so she can Plan a Movie Night in the Orphanage tomorrow, after all she needs a distraction and not worry about her Plans failing.

Satisfied with her handiwork, she stepped back and surveyed the scene. It was almost perfect. If any creature came looking for her, they would think she was fast asleep, oblivious on where she's actually is, plus she can Switch places with the Doll when the Runes Automatically Alert her that something happened and gives her the Option Select she thought of carefully when she made the Doll.

Mellow took a deep breath and opened her status window with a flick of her wrist. The glowing blue interface hovered in the air before her, displaying a map of Equestria with a pulsing red dot where she stood. She focused her magic and tapped the location of Zokanwa, feeling the energy build up up around her.

With a flash of light and a pop, she and Snookie teleported to the bustling town square of Zokanwa. The warm, tropical air hit her like a wave, and she took a moment to soak in the familiar sights and sounds. The brightly colored buildings, the laughter of the creatures in the market, and the distant sound of the ocean. But she didn't have time to bask in it's culture and beauty.

Her eyes scanned the square, looking for the telltale sign of a video rental shop. She knows how advanced her Country is and Mellow is pretty sure they have High Quality Entertainment.

After a few minutes of searching, she spotted a small, dusty shop tucked between a potion vendor and a bakery. The sign above the door read "Movies & More" in a quaint, archaic font. Snookie squealed with excitement, her legs bobbing in anticipation.

Mellow pushed open the door to "Movies & More," and she gasped. The inside of the shop was vast, much larger than the exterior suggested. Rows upon rows of gleaming, holographic screens filled with images of all sorts of movies played, creating a kaleidoscope of color and sound. The air was thick with the scent of multiple flavors of popcorn and nostalgia, and she could feel the excitement building up in her body.

The walls were lined with shelves that stretched to the ceiling, each one packed with a dizzying array of entertainment options. There were movies from every genre imaginable: adventure, romance, comedy, horror, and even some that she had never heard of. Her eyes darted around, taking in the glossy covers that promised tales of heroism and friendship, love and loss, and worlds beyond her wildest dreams.

Snookie scurried up to a display of anime, her legs moving rapidly as she tried to keep up with the fast-moving images. Mellow couldn't help but smile at her friend's enthusiasm. It had been so long since she had seen anything from her past life, and it filled her with a warmth that chased away the shadows of worry Temporary.

The shopkeeper, an old Steampunk racoon with a knowing smile, looked up from behind the counter. "Welcome," he said, his voice deep and resonant. "What can I help you find today?"

Mellow took a deep breath. "I'm planning a Movie Night," she said, her voice filled with determination. "Something that will bring everyone together and make them happy."

The old raccoon's smile grew wider. "Ah, a noble quest," he said, pushing his spectacles up his nose. "Let's see what we have here."

Together, they spent hours combing through the vast collection. Mellow's eyes grew wider with each new discovery, her imagination running wild with the possibilities. There were classics from her foalhood, tales of friendship that had made her cry, and epic adventures that had made her heart race. And she had to admit, there were some that she had never heard of that looked utterly fascinating.

Snookie, meanwhile, had found a section of the store dedicated to educational programs and was busy watching snippets of "How Things Work" and "The Wonders of Bug Culture." Her eyes were glued to the screen, and Mellow had to occasionally coax her away to help with the selection.

Finally, as the sun began to set outside, they had a pile of holographic discs that looked promising. The old pegasus nodded his approval. "These should do the trick," he said. "A mix of the old and the new, with a sprinkle of magic and wonder."

Mellow felt a surge of excitement. "Thank you," she said, her eyes shining. "Thank you so much."
Mellow paid him Generously and happily left the shop, the door chiming a cheerful tune behind them while putting all the stuff she bought in her magical pouch except the "Lion King" she has in her Hooves.

And as they made their way back to the teleportation spot, she couldn't help but feel a little sad. She knew that she could stay here, in Zokanwa, forever. But for now, she had her movies, her memories, and the promise of a magical evening ahead.

Once back in her room, Mellow took the wooden doll out from the covers and placed it gently on the bed. She whispered a spell, and the doll transformed back into its original size, the runes on its body glowed shortly. With a gentle smile, she tucked it back into the pouch, knowing it would be there if she ever needed it again.

Then, she picked up the "Lion King" holographic disc. The glossy surface shimmered in the light, and she felt a pang of nostalgia. It was one of the few movies she had ever watched as a kid in her past life, and it held a special place in her heart. She knew she couldn't risk the staff finding it and getting suspicious, so she decided to use her Rune Magic to change it into something more mundane - a VHS tape.

The tape grew warm in her hooves, the plastic bending and shaping itself into the familiar rectangle with the plastic shell. She whispered the incantation, and the holographic image of the disc morphed into the fuzzy static of an old VHS tape. Satisfied, she placed it in a cardboard box that has the movies logo and character.

Mellow took a deep breath and, with Snookie in tow, made her way through the corridors of the orphanage. She had to find Silver Lining before she was missed. The corridors were lined with portraits of ponies who had once lived here, their smiles frozen in time. Each one told a story of a life that had been touched by the warmth and love of this place.

Her heart pounding, she spotted the unicorn in the library, surrounded by a group of foals eagerly listening to a story. She waited patiently until the tale was over, and the young ones dispersed. With a gentle cough, she approached Silver Lining. "Oh, Mellow," she said, looking up with a smile. "I was just about to come check on you."

Mellow held out the box, her eyes shimmering with excitement. "I found something in my pouch while I was organizing and cleaning," she began, her voice trembling slightly. "It's a movie from my home country, Zokanwa. Can every creature watch it together tomorrow night?"

Silver Lining's smile grew. "Of course," she said, taking the box from her. "I'll get everything ready," she said. "While you help me set up all the Snacks." Silver Lining read the cover of the Box. "Loin King, never heard of it but it does say it's for all ages." Mellow's heart swelled with joy. This was it. Her chance to bring a little piece of home to the orphanage and share it's amazing story and music

"I'm so excited for tomorrow!" she exclaimed.

The entertainment room was a large, open space with plush couches and comfortable pillows scattered on the floor. The walls were lined with shelves of books, games, and other entertainment from all over Equestria. Mellow couldn't believe her luck that such a place existed in the Orphanage.

They worked together, Mellow grabbed the snacks from the kitchen to the entertainment room with 2 trays from her hooves, placing them on the table with a flourish. The popcorn was warm and buttery, the soda fizzed invitingly, and the candy bars were wrapped in shiny paper that crinkled as she arranged them. Snookie buzzed around them, her excitement palpable as she anticipated the sugar rush.

Silver Lining, meanwhile, was busy with the projector. She hadn't used the film projector in a while, but she managed to get it to work with a bit of trial and error. The anticipation was building, and Mellow couldn't help but feel a thrill of excitement as she saw the images of the Equestrian Flag come to life on the screen.

"OK, everything is definitely set up for tomorrow."

As she turn of the film projector. "Honestly this took longer than I expected, so you 2 should rest up." Mellow happily agreed and scoop Snookie up in her arms and went to her room.

Once Mellow is in her room she decided that she wants to take a Bath before bed, so she opened the bathroom in her room and turn on the water to make it nice and hot. Of course not too hot since she doesn't want Snookie to get burnt by hot water. She hummed to herself, the melody a familiar one from her faolhood, as she poured the Pink Salt into the tub, watching as it dissolved and filled the room with a gentle, calming scent. She then took out a lavender-scented bath bomb from her pouch, feeling its cool, round shape in her hooves. With a smile, she tossed it into the water, where it fizzed and popped, releasing a soft purple hue and a soothing aroma with glitter.

Snookie sat on the edge of the tub, her legs swinging in excitement as she watched the water rise. *It smells so nice!* she exclaimed with her Webs.

Mellow nodded, her heart swelling with warmth. It had been so long since she had felt truly relaxed, and the thought of sharing this small piece of comfort with her friends was enough to chase away the last of her worries.

With a final flourish, she sprinkled a handful of rose pedals into the water. The petals floated on the surface, adding a touch of elegance and a hint of sweetness to the air. Snookie's eyes grew wide as she took in the sight, and Mellow couldn't help but laugh at her friend's wonder.

"Alright," she said, taking off her outfit and stepping into the tub with a sigh of contentment. "Let's get cleaned up, Snookie." The water was just the right temperature, and she felt the tension melt away as she sank into it. Snookie scurried down the side of the tub and into the water, her legs kicking up little splashes.

Mellow closed her eyes and let out a sigh of pure bliss. For a moment, she could almost forget the weight of her situation and just be a foal, enjoying a warm bath with her best friend. She felt a gentle nudge and opened her eyes to see Snookie holding out a duck shape sponge with a grin. "Time to scrub up," the web said, and the two of them set to work, giggling as they lathered each other in the sweet-smelling bubbles.

The water grew pink as they played, and the scent of roses and lavender filled the room. It was a small slice of happiness in the midst of the storm, and Mellow knew she would cherish it.

When the water had grown cold and the bubbles had all disappeared, she reluctantly climbed out of the tub, wrapping herself in a warm, fluffy towel. Snookie was already snuggled up in a towel, looking content and slightly damp. "Alright," she said, her voice still filled with excitement. "Time to get some rest. We have a big day tomorrow."

Snookie nodded, her legs still slightly trembling from the excitement. "I can't wait," the webs said. "Movie night is going to be amazing." She added on her webs.

Mellow couldn't agree more. She started to cast a drying spell on both of them feeling the magic waving around their Body and disappeared.

As she climbed into bed, the anticipation of sharing her culture with every creature at the orphanage filled her with warmth. Tomorrow would be a special night, a night where I can watch everyones react to the move.

As she drifted off to sleep, her dreams were filled with images of Zokanwa, of her eating Buck Ton of Consumable Goods from the Street Vendor while Snookie was performing in front of a Huge Crowd throwing Grubs at her.
