Something to change everything
Chapter 10: ... So, another human turned pegasus and this one befriends a pegasus.
Previous ChapterNext ChapterBrendan was awake long before the sun rose, he had been given a very very basic tour of Ponyville. And that was after he met all of the friends his brother and his enemy had made. Brendan looked towards the Crafting Grid he owned and the number of recipes he now had, "A plus version of the Overpowered Mouse... the issue is that I have no idea what drops the materials to craft it," he said as he just... jumped out the window.
Landing on the ground was something Brendan got good at, he needed to after all since most dungeons cause you to fall down if you fail a puzzle, so he did it and took little damage from it. Safe to say that the small orange pegasus filly who was running around nearby the base, the Mimic that Bad Guy seemingly let slip looking rather relived. That was before Brendan used his mouse as a mace and crushed the fake chest. "Good to see that Bad Guy's monsters are still idiotically weak to crushing," Brendan said, putting his OP Mouse away.
The young filly, that Brendan had learned was called Scootaloo yesterday, ran up to Brendan with exictement in her eyes, "You're so awesome!" She said as Brendan rubbed the back of his head.
"It's nothin', really. I just got good at dungeoneering and combat, nothing that big of a deal back home since dungeons and monsters are fluffing everywhere," Brendan said as Scootaloo still seemed excited as hell, "If you want, and who ever takes care of you approves, I could take you on some adventures since I love the thrill of going to new places to find dungeons," Brendan suggested and, in a matter of moments, was being dragged by Scootaloo.
Now Brendan and Scootaloo were staring down an ancient temple called "The Temple of Memories."
Brendan sighed, "U.I... Can you do a diagnostic scan on the Temple of Memories?" He asked as the small drone flew towards the temple scanned it, and returned. "Huh? It's a real actual dungeon? Well, guess that makes things easier for me," Brendan grabbed Scootaloo before he glided down to the temple.
Setting Scootaloo on the ground, Brendan looked through his pocket pack for something to give Scootaloo as a weapon but found nothing. It seemed Scootaloo was fine with a stick, however. Brendan nodded as they entered.
Scootaloo looked around the space in awe, "This looks nothing like I thought it would! It's so purple," she said.
But Brendan knew better, "5 by 5 starting room, three possible pathways without including the exit, no signs of enemies yet," he said before looking at Scootaloo, "Listen, I didn't expect a real dungeon during this search but I guess we now have a dungeon to actually get used to, let's hope the boss monster at the end isn't that tough."
Brendan and Scootaloo went down the forward path and found their enemies. Jackalopes and Computers. Scootaloo charged into combat with the Jackalopes while Brendan fought everything at once by swinging his mouse around the room in a flashy sort of movement. The Computers dropped some curcuit boards while the Jackalopes were actually still standing. Scootaloo, surprisingly, finished them off and watched as they melted, leaving just an antler. "Was that supposed to happen?" Scootaloo asked, seemingly confused by how she just killed something.
"Yeah, I assume so, dunno. Never had to fight Jackalopes before," Brendan admitted, "Good to know this adventure is going to be more fun now."
Brendan opened the chest in this room and found a recipe book. "A book... lame loot," Scootaloo said.
"Not exactly, see, it made not look like much but the Crafting Grid and take the recipes stored in this book and thus allow us to craft more things should we have the materials," Brendan explained as the Crafting Grid started glowing and putting the curcuit boards and Jackalope antler into its storage, creating a new weapon that looks like a Light Saber. "A laser blade... interesting, well, considering you use that stick like a sword, you're getting the laser blade," Brendan said as he gave Scootaloo the laser blade.
Scootaloo slowly swung her new weapon as if to get a feel of it. She got used to it faster than Brendan thought she would.
Leaving the dead end, Scootaloo eagerly ran down the left path and Brendan followed her to make sure she was safe. And they found the first puzzle in the dungeon, "A puzzle, let's see... 'For each battle partaken, what was the relic of Bad Guy's pocket dimension' oh, I know this. It was the pocket packs," Brendan said aloud as a chest appeared in the room, containing some pizza slices, "Nice, some healing items can come in handy."
Scootaloo was just confused about why there were pizza slices in a chest. "Are you sure eating pizza slices found in a chest is safe?" Scootaloo asked.
"Well... yes. See, doing some research seems to imply that dungeon chests don't follow the same rules of reality we do, so it could take eons for someone to open a chest and whatever was in there would be just as fresh as if it was brand new," Brendan explained, "Though I have no idea what magic does that so don't ask me."
As Scootaloo and Brendan go to the only open path, Scootaloo notices the now present monsters in the entrance room. Brendan just smirked, "Hey kid, just wait here while I do my thing," Brendan said as he stepped forward. The enemies noticed him but it was too late as his body was covered in a light blue energy, "Hey there, don't forget to like, subscribe, and hit that little bell that's still shining in the cold," he said as a giant bell came down and hit all of the enemies for three, decent hits, killing all but one giving Scootaloo the chance to kill the last Computer though that pink screen compared to the blue ones the others had did worry her.
One hit and the Computer enemy died, "Nice! Seems like whatever's here doesn't want us heading deeper if it sent a Computer + after us," Brendan said before noticing Scootaloo's confusion, "Right, so, I assume you know Bad Guy's troope?" Scootaloo nodded, "Well, every monster, with some exceptions, has a harder '+' version with better item drop pools and higher stats and these harder ones are usually just a palette swap of the original but it still makes it easy to tell them apart, now I'm stuck waiting to see if a fear of mine is true..."
Brendan and Scootaloo continued through, the monster's getting more plentiful the deeper they get and they found a room with a floating crystal... a blue one. "What's that? I know there's healing crystals which are either black or green and the warp crystals which are a purple-ish color," Scootaloo asked.
"A battle gate," Brendan approached it with no way to progress beyond it but a pathway being directly behind it. When Brendan touched the crystal, it broke into many shards and started to reform into a giant Space Invader, "Shit shit shit!" Brendan said swinging his mouse around but it dealt no damage to the Space Invader, "What in god's name!? This is just as bad as the Soundproofer Dan encountered where my normal attack does jack shit!" He added as Scootaloo did a bit of thinking, her body subconsciously surrounding itself in mana before releasing it as a burst of speed that dealt decent damage to the Space Invader. The Space Invader summoned many of its smaller bretheren to attack and it did some damage bur Brendan counterattacked by using the cord of his mouse like a whip.
The Space Invader shook before shattering into crystal fragments. Brendan picked up the fragments before immediately dropping them, "What the hell?! Why did those hurt like hell?!" He asked as Scootaloo easily picked them up, the crystal fragments reformed into an accessory... "That's... what? A crystal charm... but... why couldn't I..."
Crystal Charm
A forgotten type of accessory unequippable to those blessed with a godly light.
"Because I'm blessed with godly energy..." Brendan stated as Scootaloo equipped the crystal charm he was calling the Equus Charm due to the horse imagery it has.
Scootaloo had new levels of excitment at this accessory giving her speed unlike she had before. Granted it wasn't much but it was still a boost. "Woo! I feel like I can take anything on! Get ready you boss monster, I'm coming after you!" Scootaloo said rushing forward.
Brendan followed after her, opening chests along the way and it resulted in finding a stallion staring at the wall, a certain blaster at his side. Scootaloo looked at the stallion in curiousity. "That's-" Brendan started.
"So the mouse wielder has arrived, you seemed shocked at my owning of the fabled Lost Ire," the stallion spoke in Bad Guy's voice. Before he shifted to a she. A pure white earth pony mare. She held a hoof out and suddenly the powered up human form of Bad Guy appeared in all his blue skinned glory, "Might this keep you distracted while I keep searching for my target, that crown of gold will not be left untouched," she said in many voices before vanishing, leaving Brendan and Scootaloo to face this monster.
"What the hay is that!?!" Scootaloo asked as she somehow dodged Antagonistic Dash.
"That's what Bad Guy looks like at his full power, me and my friends got well acquinted with that and half the time, I'm expecting Bad Guy to go into this form again," Brendan said as his body got covered in mana and he found his mouse glowing with him, actually Scootaloo and her weapon were glowing too...
Brendan had an idea. He reached his mana out and it commected with Scootaloo's, she looked at him for a moment... before she nodded. Scootaloo threw her laser blade to Brendan and his attached it to the end of his mouse and used the full force of both to deal massive damage to the boss monster in three fluid strikes, when it was over, Brendan felt his mana reserves completely emptied from the action as the laser blade returned to Scootaloo.
The boss screeched as it slowly faded and fractured. "Okay, what the hell? What did she mean by 'the crown of gold'?" Brendan asked as the group was forcefully teleported back to the outskirts of town.
"Well... it could be anything really, maybe Celestia's crown?" Scootaloo tried to suggest but it didn't matter.
Rainbow Dash and all of the Mane 6 were worried when they realized Scootaloo was missing. Then Brendan showed up, deep in thought, with Scootaloo who now had the laser blade and the Equus Charm. "Squirt! What the hay was that for, making all of us worried!" Rainbow Dash said. Scootaloo went into detail about the entire adventure.
"+ monsters? So the different colors in Bad Guy's base actually mean different things? I thought Sweetie Belle was being crazy," Rarity admitted.
"No... but that isn't what worries me.... it's that Lost Ire is in this world at all and is being wielded by a pony that could create physical manifestions of memories," Brendan said.
Twilight looked at the others before clearing her throat, "Bad Guy told us about Lost Ire, it's on brand that the one wielding it was in the Temple of Memories but the pony you described sounds like one only in myths... Memory Mare," she said causing Brendan to be suspicious.
"Tell me, is it conceivable that Memory Mare is real?" Brendan asked.
Twilight seemed confused by the question, "Uh... Maybe? Why are you asking?" She asked back.
"Back home, the second home I had after my first one was trapped in a damn pocket dimension, there was a legend of four heroes who would defeat Bad Guy and over the course of the adventure, I learned that all four were real at one point or another. One was Dan the diamond musician, or DanTDM, one was the original version of the god me, and the other two are left vague but I envision that they are an animatronic fox I created called L0L-B17 or codename Lolbit and a small green shirted child called Chara and from there, basically things went to shit. They beat him but... well... that world ended up erased out of mercy and reformed as the one I grew to know," Brendan explained, causing everyone to basically just do the "oh" face.
"Well shit," Applejack said.
