Something to change everything
Chapter 3: A fresh start and some boast busting.
Previous ChapterNext ChapterBad Guy awoke from his spot on Rarity's couch... he needed money... as soon as Bad Guy tried to get up, he looked down to see Sweetie Belle had fallen asleep on him... again. It'd been a good couple of weeks after Nightmare Moon attacked and Bad Guy was getting used to life in Ponyville in his own... unique... way, let's say that.
He still knew next to nothing about the magic of this world but... he would eventually learn. Bad Guy sighed as he slowly and carefully got Sweetie Belle off of him before getting up himself to fix his mane and tail, making sure he got each and every spike in his tail perfect. If there was one thing he and Rarity had in common, it was that appearences can really say something about who a pony is. Sweetie Belle was slowly waking up and when she did, she hugged Bad Guy. "Hey Sweetie Belle, you had a good rest on me, I suppose," Bad Guy said, simply getting a nod from Sweetie Belle as a response. There were several ponies outside talking about something.
Bad Guy and Sweetie Belle decided to check it out.
Surrounding a stage is what many ponies in town were doing. Twilight, Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash were all here watching some nutcase called "The Great and Powerful Trrrixie!"(Yes, she rolled the R) boast about how she was the best at magic and blah blah.
"By Brendan, she does not shut up, does she?" Bad Guy said, catching Trixie's attention.
"It would seem we have some NEIGH-SAYERS," okay, really? Neigh-sayers? Whatever," in the crowd today! Could you show us how good you are at magic and maybe the Great and Powerful Trrrixie can do it better," Trixie said, not realizing who she picked a fight with.
"Hehehe, that so? I'll let you know my magic is more... unique," Bad Guy put Sweetie Belle on the ground so she could watch as Bad Guy casually floated onto the stage. Then a song seemed to start.
"Oh Trixie...
You scared little Pixie...
You see a threat and anger it...
Well that's that last mistake you do.
I've got powers, beyond your comprehension.
So come at me with your best shot because I... am...
The Bad Guy." Bad Guy snapped and a slime was surrounding Trixie, keeping her in place.
"You sit there,
You poor mare,
I doubt you're worth the spare,
As all you do is waste air.
All your boasting,
And roasting,
And you don't fare,
Up to expectations you placed in the air.
A god's reign,
Is insane,
You angered one...
Today.
A party,
A crasher,
A ready,
A passer,
And yet you chose to anger me...
Ooooh,
Trixie, poor little Pixie.
You know the moon,
Shines on my new nights,
And yet you don't find...
That I am
The
Bad
GUUUUUYYYYYYYYYY!"
As the song finished, the slime vanished as Trixie was staring wide eyed, as did most of the spectators. Bad Guy looked at Trixie. "10:00 PM. Everfree forest. Show up or I'll force you to," Bad Guy commented as he went back to the spectating ponies calling themselves his "friends."
Sweetie Belle helped herself onto Bad Guy's back as she got ready to ask the question on her mind, "I didn't know you could sing! Why did you hide it?!" She asked as Bad Guy shrugged.
"I personally don't think I was that good, was just going with the flow," Bad Guy replied as the group was left alone.
"Baddy, why the hay did ya just sign up ta duel a unicorn when ya don't know any magic yerself?" Applejack asked, using the nickname Pinkie made that he despises.
"Did I say I didn't know magic, last I checked I said my magic was unique. And even then, I didn't say it was a magic duel so, legally, I'd be allowed to bring weapons. Just not kill her," Bad Guy said but everyone looked at him like he was insane then he realized. "Crap. I forgot you ponies don't use weapons often so by default a duel is a magic duel. I am going to hate it, luckily... the duel isn't until 10:00 PM so I will be fine to learn unicorn magic while learning how to combo those with my normal magic."
Rarity and Twilight still weren't happy. Rainbow Dash was extremely concerned for some reason. Sweetie Belle was just excited.
The group was in some empty field as Bad Guy drew a summoning circle to summon some troops to act as... fodder. Yeah, fodder.
"Uh... are... are you sure about this-" A demon said as Silence hit.
"Good, we can kill it," Bad Guy said as Batty the Bat, Sweetie Belle's tamed bat, killed the demon. Now that Twilight had a good idea of where Bad Guy was, which was nowhere near equestrian, she knew where to start. At the beginning.
Five hours later...
It was now 3:14 PM and Bad Guy now knew several Equestrian spells and already had ideas on how to combo some of them into his own magic, while his magic was nowhere near Twilight's, he was still powerful as buck.
Next stop... taking a rest. Bad Guy had a seat, Sweetie Belle going out of her way to come over and rest next to him. "Okay, I never mentioned it before, but you two together is adorable," Twilight said, watching Bad Guy be cuddled by Sweetie Belle(Actually, she was using him as a pillow again) and could help but take a picture.
"You show that to anyon- anypony, I'm kicking your flank to the motherflipping moon," Bad Guy threatened. Twilight giggled at the fact that Bad Guy kept nearly going to his non-pony speech patterns.
"You know Bad Guy... when I heard of the Summer Sun Celebrstion happening sooner than normal those weeks ago, I didn't think I'd meet a villain, much less two, and somehow become friends with both in some way," Twilight said.
"Twilight. None of you are my friends, the only pony I call my friend is Sweetie Belle. I just tolerate the rest of you. I get you wanna be nice but I don't have the time to deal with you six when I know you can pull that damn Ultimate Trimmer out and stab me, thus killing me, Sweetie Belle at least takes it slow. I don't want to reform and she know it so she's trying to slowly but surely warm me up to it. Granted, it's working at all but that's besides the point. The point is that I'm not your friend, never have been. You six started calling me that because I started genuinely tolerating you," Bad Guy explained as he drew a smaller summoning circle and used it to acquire several small crystals. He placed one of them down and unleashed some magic to make a massive spinning black crystal. "This is a healing crystal, I plan to set one up as well as a teleport crystal in every town to make getting around much easier," Bad Guy stated as he touched the crystal and a bright light appeared from nowhere and healed are physical and magical injuries.
7 hours... just 7 more to prepare.
Four hours later...
Bad Guy was alone in the field, Sweetie Belle having been taken home(A teleport crystal added to the living room out of sight from ponies entering the boutique), Twilight heading back to Ponyville herself.
And Bad Guy was still trying to master magic. "Huff... puff... that's... not perfect. I want to deal as much damage, without killing, as possible. Trixie needs a shot to the ego," Bad Guy explained to himself. He had to stop himself before he overworked himself. Three hours... Bad Guy started trotting back to Ponyville.
9:45 PM
Bad Guy was sitting in a small clearing in the Everfree, a clearing as far from any caves as possible since he dared not anger an Ursa. Trixie took her sweet time arrive but she did arrive right on time. "The great and powerful Trrrixie must letnyou know, that she has never lost a duel before," Trixie said as two colts, who should be asleep by now, had a seat to watch. Sweetie Belle had asked to be awoken so she could watch the duel between Bad Guy and Trixie, as she scooted a little away from the colts. The colts and her started a small bet about whether Bad Guy'd win or Trixie would, and the colts praised Trixie to no end while Sweetie Belle was humble with how strong I was often just saying "We'll see if your praise can hold up" to them.
Bad Guy gave Trixie a smirk as he activated a shield spell around both him and Trixie to keep Sweetie Belle and the colts from being hurt by the duel. Trixie started the duel by launching the first attack, which was just a shot of raw magic that Bad Guy teleported to dodge before doing a combo attack by using both a fire and ice ball spell then Silence. He called this combo the Dance of Fire and Ice. Trixie barely realized what happened when the attack made contact and felt she couldn't use magic nor speak. Sweetie Belle watched in awe while the colts were scared Trixie would lose.
Bad Guy got ready to use the only nonletal attack he knew that dealt a massive amount of damage... False Flash. When he held a hoof up and unleashed a massive flash of light on Trixie, it dealt massive damage. "I'll say Trixie... you're absolutely horrible at dueling and you've never lost? What, did you duel foals everytime or did your opponents pity you enough to just let you win?" Bad Guy stated as he looked at Trixie's shocked and slightly teary form. "You know, I feel bad. I genuinely expected your boasting to hold up and trained so hard to learn magic to make it easier for me to win, or at least last longer. Yet... you proved to be a disappointment who failed to uphold her own image, I'm not even that good at magic. I'd give you the win but I can't do that because that'd be encouraging rampant boasting. Boasting isn't bad, mind you, but it's the scale of the boasts, like come on, beating an Ursa Major? Something all books say is unbeatable? You were signing yourself up for failure," Bad Guy said causing Trixie to just start full on crying.
"Trixie just felt special and wanted to stay special!" Trixie said while crying, Bad Guy sat down and patted her back.
"Trixie, let me tell you a story. A story of a stallion who... well... was not the greatest. This stallion was power hungry, greedily so, and summoned a god he knew could grant infinite power. So that god became indebted to the stallion for having saved him from a purgatory and was willing to grant any wish. The stallion wished for infinite power and was warned that power came woth responsability but the stallion didn't listen. The stallion went to a place with Lava in the oceans instead of water, where he met his greated enemy. Another stallion, one who could play a harp like a master while having a godly energy in him. That stallion and his friends went through the land of lava and eventually ended up with the harp playing stallion against the stallion that wished for infinite power and... well... the harp playing stallion lost," Bad Guy told the whole story, being vague as to who each of the heroes mentioned were and even more vague as to him being a part of the story. Sweetie Belle listened and said nothing in regards to the details, since she was currently the only one Bad Guy shared all the details with.
At the end of it all, Trixie seemed much more... normal? Yeah, normal. Before she galloped off, the colts, appearently called Snips and Snails, went after her. Sweetie Belle got on Bad Guy's back as he set up a Teleport Crystal so he can make getting back to Rarity's home easier.
