Noticeable Changes

It was a normal day at CHS, and Amadeus was busy reading a book at the school entrance. Seeing that it was free period, he had a feeling he could use that very last hours to wait outside for a certain someone. That someone was…

“Hey, babe.”

He felt a kiss on the side of his face. He looked to his right and saw it was Sunset Shimmer.

Back then, when he first met Sunset about six months before the Fall Formal, he wasn’t in the least bit intimidated by her. When he met her, and she spouted angry threatening words, which in turn, made him blush when he realized how cute she was whenever she got angry.

Though it would’ve gone well if he hadn’t blurted out loud, ‘Wow, you are a sexy angel’.

This caused her to stop and blush by what he said. Normally she would get mad and would lunge or lynch at him, but for some reason she didn’t. This caused her to walk away and not looking back.

Then shortly, about two weeks before the Fall Formal and a week after she broke up with Flash, Sunset once again tried to torment him. But this time he was close to her face. And in that moment, he couldn’t help himself.

He placed his lips against hers.

This took her completely off guard. Thankfully they were in a secluded area, so no one noticed a thing. After ten minutes, they broke the kiss. Sunset stared at Amadeus for a few moments, trying to process what just happened. Then just like that, she quickly left. Amadeus felt completely embarrassed for what he did, especially to a bully. But Sunset on the other hand, for some reason kept avoiding him, and never even picked or bullied him, she even told Snips and Snails to leave him alone, much to their confusion.

After Sunset was beaten, a pony princess turned human from another dimension, named Twilight Sparkle, she and her friends used the magic of the crown to purge the darkness away from her. When she regretted for what she did, Amadeus was the first to open his hand to her, to be her first friend, where he revealed that he knew there was good in her, he just didn’t give up on her.

Then after the battle of the bands, Sunset was seen in the eyes of many as a good guy, whilst she and Amadeus had officially began their relationship. It had been hard work at first, maintaining a relationship.

Anon-a-miss, the Friendship Games, Camp Everfree, the Magic Mirror incident, the Memory Stone incident, Equestria Land incident, the Spring Break Incident, even the Music Festival, the two of them were closer than anyone else, and they developed a challenging, but healthy relationship. On occasions, on some weekends and summer vacation, Amadeus visited Equestria with her, and the two of them had a lot of fun.

Amadeus playfully kissed her back on the lips with a smirk, and said, “Hey yourself.”

“So, what are you doing out here?” asked Sunset.

“It’s my free period, you?” asked Amadeus.

“Same with me and the girls.” Said Sunset, “But before we went to the music room, I wanted to check up on you, to see if you were okay.”

“Oh, I’m fine.” Said Amadeus. He looked ahead and chuckled, “To think it felt like only yesterday when you wanted to turn your life around, and I was the first to offer my hand to you.”

Sunset looked at the spot, and couldn’t help but smile too, and sat next to him.

“It sure has been crazy, hasn’t it?” asked Sunset. “Now here we are in our senior year and we’re still having one crazy event after the other.”

“In more ways than one.” Said Amadeus. “But still, I’m actually glad you came to this world. I know it’s not what you had in mind, but you actually brought some excitement in our lives.”

“Which I only wish it didn’t put all of us in danger.” Said Sunset dull fully.

“Hey, nobody said it was perfect.” Said Amadeus. He then frowned and said, “Still, I wish I could’ve been there during the whole memory stone fiasco.”

“Hey, you were out of town in a family emergency.” Said Sunset, “Your dad’s heart was acting strange and had to install a pacemaker.”

“Yeah,” said Amadeus, “It felt very unnerving to watch.”

“But hey, at least he’s doing much better?” said Sunset.

“But I still can’t help but worry,” said Amadeus, “Now I call him once a day instead of once a week, just to hear how he’s doing.”

“And at least you and your dad are closer now.” Said Sunset.

“Yeah.” Said Amadeus, “Anyway, we still up for date night this weekend?”

“Of course, wouldn’t miss it.” Said Sunset.

That’s when they heard a loud explosion, and to their surprise, they saw what looked like a giant bird monster of sorts, tainted by Equestrian Magic. They both stood up in shock, and then the Rainbooms got through the door.

“Sunset, we got trouble!!” said Rainbow Dash.

“And near the animal shelter!!” said Fluttershy in worry.

“Let’s go girls!!” said Sunset.

All of them transformed into their Friendship Power forms. Amadeus couldn’t help but smirk at their forms, especially Sunset’s outfit.

“Knock them dead, Sunset.” Said Amadeus. “Also…”

Amadeus whispered to Sunset, “You look awfully sexy in that outfit.”

This caused her to blush, but giggle before jabbing him in the shoulder.

“I’ll see you later back at the house!!” said Amadeus, “Knock em dead girls!!”

“Will do!!” said the Rainbooms as all of them flew off.

Amadeus couldn’t help but shook his head.

“The more things change, the more they stay the same.” Said Amadeus before moving back to the house, knowing the bell would ring for everyone to go home soon.

After a big battle, the girls celebrated as they landed.

“Aw, yeah, that was awesome!!” said Rainbow Dash.

“I’m just glad we were able to put a stop to that monster.” Said Sunset.

“I know what you mean,” said Rarity, “It’s certainly doing a number on my hair.”

“Let’s go to Sugarcube Corner and celebrate!!” said Pinkie Pie.

“I could go for something to eat.” Said Fluttershy.

All of them removed their transformations, returning them back to normal.

“Alright y’all,” said Applejack whilst adjusting her hat, “Let’s get…”

“Uh, guys.” Said Spike, “Sunset’s not looking so good.”

Everyone looked at Sunset, who had a very tired look on her face, barely being able to stay awake.

“Sunset?” asked Twilight in concern.

Within moments, Sunset collapsed onto the ground, with her posterior sticking out from under her skirt.

“Sunset?!” exclaimed the girls as they all went over.

“Is she alright?!” said Fluttershy in concern.

Spike, with his sensitive ears, heard her breathing.

“Nope, still breathing,” said Spike, “And I think a little snoring?”

“Wait, she’s asleep?” said a confused Rainbow, “What the hay does that mean?”

“Ah don’t know,” said Applejack as she was able to help her up, “Somethin’ tells me we’d better take her back home to Amadeus. Maybe he can help out.”

“What makes you say that?” asked Pinkie Pie.

“He did spent some time in Equestria to hang out with Sunset on their last summer vacation,” pointed out Rainbow, “Maybe we can ask him.”

“Good idea, let’s go.” Said Twilight.

All of them hurried to Amadeus and Sunset’s house, hoping he’d have some insight.

Amadeus was waiting for Sunset on her porch on their small house whilst he was reading. A while ago, Amadeus and Sunset moved in together, for ever since Amadeus moved to CHS to study, his dad was more than happy to buy him a house there. And a while ago, after Sunset had reformed, she couldn’t afford to pay any rent until she could find a job. Thankfully, Amadeus had more than enough room for her to stay in. At first she didn’t want to stay, but since they were dating, he was more than willing to let her stay there.

She really appreciated it and moved what stuff she could. So as Amadeus was able to pay the rent, he was able to help Sunset find a job at a sushi place. It wasn’t much, but at least she was able to find her own income, as well as some gems she brought from Equestria. So far things have been great for them.

Except…that time he walked into her after she got out of the shower. At first, Sunset was confused by why he was so bashful about it, but after he gave her a few lessons about others being bare, she too felt embarrassed and covered herself from time to time in order to protect her modesty.

Though in time though, something was different. The last time he walked in, she didn’t mind him seeing her without any clothes on, and strangely, same with Amadeus.

Thinking about those moments, Amadeus couldn’t help but blush madly at this, and tried to keep the pressure from below his belt under control. Damn it was hard getting it under control.

“Amadeus!!”

Amadeus got out of his own thoughts and wondered who was calling. He looked up from his book and saw the Rainbooms walking down, with worried looks on their faces. And to his surprise, there was Sunset, unconscious in Applejack’s arms.

“Sunset!!” said Amadeus as he ran over to her and checked on her to see if she was okay. They soon brought her over to the house and set her down on her queen-sized bed. “What happened? Did she get hurt?”

“No, we’re all fine.” Said Applejack.

“There’s something wrong with Sunset.” Said Rainbow whilst Twilight felt her pulse.

“Yeah, one moment we’re all fine after transforming and going off to fight that magical monster.” Began Pinkie Pie.

“And before we knew it, after we turned back to normal, Sunset suddenly fainted and passed out.” Said Rarity.

“Has this ever happened before?” asked Amadeus.

“No, this is the first time it happened.” Said Fluttershy.

“Honestly, I have no idea what happened, and she’s been out for fifteen minutes.” Said Twilight.

Amadeus thought about this for a moment. Maybe there’s a connection of sorts. After thinking, he got an idea.

“Twilight, see if you can bring most of your science gear with you.” Said Amadeus, “I’ll try to contact Princess Twilight and see if she can figure out what’s wrong.”

“What are y’all thinkin?” asked Applejack.

“Only one way to find out.” Said Amadeus as he had finished writing down on Sunset’s journal to Princess Twilight, “It’s a hunch, but it’s something.”

“Well, if you say so.” Said Twilight before turning to Rainbow. “Rainbow Dash, think you can give me a lift?”

“Way ahead of you!!” said Rainbow before picking her up and running off with her.

It had been three hours since Sunset was brought back to the house and she was still out. Though not before tons of machines were hooked up to her whilst Twilight and Princess Twilight were looking at things over. Amadeus was also helping by taking many notes in case both Twilights need to look at something.

The rest of the Rainbooms were standing by the side, worried about Sunset whilst Spike was looking her over at the same time, along with Spike’s dragon counterpart when he also wanted to visit. After going over a few things, both Twilights came over and placed their notes aside.

“So, is Sunset alright?” asked Fluttershy.

“According to her vitals, she’s still completely healthy.” Said Twilight.

“However, her magic is depleted and she’s taking a while to recharge.” Said Princess Twilight.

“What do you mean?” said Rainbow Dash.

“From what I could tell,” said Princess Twilight, “Ever since you girls found the geodes, you’ve been gaining extra powers and able to transform. Or as Pinkie Pie would say, ponying up.”

“As all of you know, Sunset’s not a human, but a pony from another world.” Said Twilight, “And given from what I remembered, she can still feel magic, even in her human form.”

“Turns out, even if she became a human, she can still feel her magic, no matter how small.” Said Amadeus.

“But what’s this got to do with her, now?” asked Applejack.

“As you might not know,” said Princess Twilight, “When a pony, Unicorns especially, use their full magic, they tend to exhaust themselves before passing out. And ever since all of you gained your geodes like Sunset, the magic of her geode must’ve felt that Sunset was a pony before turning into a human when she chose to move to this world.”

“So, what you’re saying is, Sunset is going to keep passing out every time whenever she used her pony up form?” asked Rarity.

“From what we could tell, yes.” Said Twilight.

“But wait,” said Spike in realization, “The girls use their pony forms and you girls got out okay.”

“Maybe because they’re not ponies.” Said dragon Spike whilst theorizing, “Like my Twilight says, whenever Unicorns use their full magic, they exhaust themselves. And the girls here are human when they received it. So, it’s possible they received magic like Sunset did, just not the full amount, considering most ponies are born with magic and not the girls.”

“Hmm, that’s one way of putting it.”

They saw Amadeus also in thought.

“What are you thinking, Amadeus?” asked Princess Twilight.

“Well, given what I’ve seen so far,” said Amadeus, “Ever since the memory stone incident and the upgrade you guys got on your magic and wardrobe, you girls look great in them by the way.”

This caused the Rainbooms to blush at this, but appreciate the compliment as they gave their voice of approvals.

“Anyway, because of it, you gained an increase in power, resistance, and energy, as well as mixed powers.” Said Amadeus, “But the problem is that the human body, namely all of you, does not have the same level of endurance and wear and tear like the pony body. So, from what all of you said, from time to time, you exceeded that limit. Which leads to whenever you remove your transformations, you’ll end up suffering an imbalance and exhaustion, which you lot do very quickly without taking a moment to rest.”

“That would explain why Sunset collapsed on the ground, whilst also exhausted, asleep and also unconscious from tiredness.” Said Twilight as she wrote down that theory.

“But we have been doing that before we remove them.” Said Rarity.

“Except for Pinkie, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash,” said Spike, “They are the most durable of the group.”

“That’s why we work hard to make sure that doesn’t happen, we have been training a bit lately.” Said Rainbow Dash.

Princess Twilight thought about it, and asked, “Did Sunset somehow gain any changes when she ponies up?”

“Now that y’all mention it,” said Applejack, “Sunset’s able to summon fire and shoot them.”

“Yeah, like a phoenix.” Said Pinkie Pie.

“And she was able to summon a sword out of fire to help expel or destroy a magic based creature or monster.” Said Rainbow.

“Then it seems the magic inside of her has gone deeper,” said Princess Twilight, “And now that her geode magic is connected to her inner core magic, she gains more power by the day. Now she’ll be able to use her magic on a normal daily basis like she did back in Equestria.”

“Darling, are you saying that Sunset’s magic is so potent, she would pass out from using too much magic whenever she powers down?” asked Rarity.

“Exactly.” Said Twilight, “So that would mean the next time another magic disaster happens, we’ll need to be near her at all times.”

“Oh my, and could be vulnerable to anyone or taking advantage of her.” Said Fluttershy.

“So how are we going to wake her up?” asked Rainbow Dash.

“Not to worry,” said Twilight, “From what we could tell from the scanners, every time whenever she depowers, her magic will recharge. She’ll only be out for four hours.”

“And given the time that passed,” said Princess Twilight as she looked at the time, “She should be waking up right about…now.”

Sunset groaned and slowly sat up whilst groaning and rubbed her head.

“Boy, what a trip.” Muttered Sunset. She noticed that the girls and Princess Twilight are in her room, with Anon close to her. However, she noticed she was connected to a ton of machines. She looked at them with a flexed eyebrow and asked, “Why am I hooked up to this?”

“Long story, Sunny.” Said Amadeus as he used a nickname for Sunset.

“What?” said a confused Sunset, “So you’re telling me I’ve been out for four hours because I used a lot of magic?”

After Sunset woke up, they explained what happened, and from what Princess Twilight and the others had theorized.

“That’s right, Sunset.” Said Princess Twilight, “You’re magic is so powerful, you’d exhaust yourself every time whenever you use too much magic.”

“Wow,” said Sunset as he was rubbing her head, “I had no idea.”

“So, we’ll advise you not to use too much magic whenever fighting Equestrian based threats.” Said Twilight.

“I’ll…keep that in mind.” Said Sunset, “And I’d appreciate someone staying to keep an eye on me.”

“We can do that.” Said Rainbow, “Now then, can we get something to eat, I’m kinda hungry.”

“I’ll make some.” Said Sunset before standing up, “I’ve been wanting to try something.”

Sunset and the others walked to the kitchen, however, Princess Twilight stopped Amadeus.

“Amadeus, a word.” Said Princess Twilight.

At first he was confused, but given her concerned look, this must be serious. The two of them walked over to another room in private to talk.

“So, what’s up?” asked Amadeus.

“It’s about Sunset’s magic.” Said Princess Twilight. “It’s growing at an abnormal rate. If she doesn’t find a way to control it, she could get really hurt.”

This worried Amadeus, and asked, “What can we do?”

“There is a way, but it’s a long shot.” Said Princess Twilight, “The only way a magic as strong as hers can be reduced back to normal but still strong, is if she transfers them.”

“Then let’s transfer them to her friends, that shouldn’t be a problem, right?” asked Amadeus.

“Actually,” said Princess Twilight before she strongly blushed, confusing him. “The only way for it to happen…is for it to transfer to a mate.”

Amadeus did a double take on this and shouted, “WHA…!!!”

Thankfully, Princess Twilight covered his mouth to keep him from making any noise. She removed it, allowing Amadeus to talk normally.

“Are you serious?!” whispered Amadeus harshly, “How do you know it’s going to work?!”

“I’ve read about this before,” said Princess Twilight, “Starswirl the Bearded said that a long time ago, he knew a Unicorn who was greatly powerful with her magic and had trouble like Sunset did. He tried everything, but the magic wouldn’t transfer. But when she met a stallion, she fell in love with him. And when they did the deed, most of her magic was transferred to him. And seeing that she was now back to normal, his magic also became strong, allowing the both of them to live normal lives, but lived happily ever after.”

“But are you sure it’s going to work?” asked Amadeus.

“From what Sunset wrote in her journal, she already has feelings for you,” said Princess Twilight, “She wants to take the next step, but she doesn’t know how to approach it, considering she never felt genuine love instead of the fake relationship she made with Flash.”

Amadeus blushed at this. Sunset really wanted to take the next step? But…was he even ready for something like this? When he looked at her, he had to admit…she’s really beautiful, and the two of them had been in a relationship ever since after the Fall Formal. At first, everyone warned not to, but he didn’t care because he’d been there before. He was also a bully, and he knew how hard it was to fix what one broke.

Amadeus sighed and said, “But how will I know she’ll do it?”

“You’ll know,” said Princess Twilight, “But best do it soon. I don’t want to hazard a guess on what would happen if left unchecked”

Amadeus understood this. He looked at Sunset again. He had to admit…he did want to try the next step…but he wasn’t sure if he’d be ready for that.

Soon enough, the girls left, and Princess Twilight and her Spike went back to Equestria. Amadeus and Sunset were in the middle of having some coffee after their dinner. At the same time, Amadeus was leaning against his chair, deep in thought. Sunset noticed the look on his face whilst he was looking in the air.

“Something wrong?” asked Sunset in confusion, “You’ve been awfully quiet since the girls left.”

“It’s just…” said Amadeus, “Ever since you girls began to use your magic whenever you transformed, you always come out okay. But this…this is the first time that you passed out from too much use. I know you’re used to it when in your hot pony bod…”

Sunset blushed by that part what he said, which caused her to nudge at him with a smirk, which caused Amadeus to smirk at that too.

“But when in human form, it can’t handle the strain.” Said Amadeus, “I’m just scared that someone would take advantage of you if you do go out there and stop another threat, you’d be vulnerable to some passerby to take your geode, or worse.”

Sunset could see the clear genuine worry on his face whilst he was staring at the ceiling. As Amadeus was in thought, he suddenly felt something on his lap. He looked down and saw he was face to face with Sunset, who was sitting on his lap and both her arms were around his neck.

“Hey, don’t worry.” Said Sunset, “I’ll try my best not to use too much magic. But just to make sure, I’ll bring you along with me, or with the girls. That way, you’ll be able to keep an eye on me in case something does happen.”

Amadeus wasn’t sure, for knowing the Rainbooms, they still have a habit of taking things too far.

“And for the record, we don’t take things too far.”

Amadeus looked at Sunset shocked, and noticed the smirk on her face. Amadeus groaned and said, “Figures your mind reading powers are getting stronger. Though I hope it won’t overwhelm you. Don’t want you to end up like Charles Xavier.”

“That I’d go crazy with the mindreading?” asked Sunset.

“That and for you to go bald.” Teased Amadeus as he stroked both his hands onto her hair, “I really love that sexy hair of yours. Yellow and red are my favorite and lucky colors.”

Sunset giggled at that and said, “So does that mean I’m your favorite?”

Amadeus didn’t know why he did it, but his hands suddenly reached underneath and groped her posterior, which made her yelp and look at Amadeus with a flustered look on her face.

“Does this answer your question?” teased Amadeus.

Sunset giggled at that and kissed him. The two of them engaged their lips with one another. Whatever happens, Amadeus will always have her back.
