Chapter 12: Sophomore Orientation

Summer vacation has nearly ended and Aaron and Smolder had headed to Summer Valley High School for their Sophomore Year Orientation. When they got there, Aaron was on the phone with the manager from Mel's Drive-In in Universal Studios.

"Sure thing, boss," Aaron said. "We'll ask the Principal to have the final class time off so we can head to work. Not on days where we have games of course." He then waited until the manager stopped talking. "Samantha has cheerleading and I have Basketball. But I won't be playing basketball until the season starts. Okay. Thanks." He then hung up as Principal Sanders was walking up to him.

"I heard from your Aunt Marissa that you two are working at Universal Studios," Principal Sanders said.

"Yeah," Aaron said. "Working at Mel's from 2:30 to 7 on days we don't have games. That means we have to miss out on the final period here."

"We hope you understand," Smolder said. "Plus, with Marissa being pregnant, we need to do our part."

"Oh, I understand," Principal Sanders said. "Marissa told me about her pregnancy. She also told me that she'll have transportation for you two after we get you two. For your extra curriculars, you two can only choose one for A and B days. As long as the time is for before lunch."

"Thank you, Principal Sanders," Aaron said.

Aaron and Smolder then continued to the Sophomore Class Extra Curricular Class Sign Ups. Aaron and Smolder were going to choose which classes they were going to attend after the classes they were going to attend were chosen by the school. So far, on A-Days, Aaron and Smolder had Biology, Algebra and PE. On B-Days, they had English-2, World History and Advanced Art. They had to choose one extra curricular for each day so they can leave for work on non-game days. So, on A-Days, Aaron chose Auto Mechanic Class and Smolder chose fashion design. And as for B-Day classes, Aaron and Smolder decided to do an instrument. They both decided to go with guitar class, which means they have to go out and buy a couple of guitars.

"Did you seriously sign up for fashion design?" Aaron asked.

"I don't know why I did it," Smolder said. "It seemed... interesting. After all, we're gonna have guitar class together."

"That means we have to tell Marissa and Liam when they come to pick us up," Aaron said. Then they headed to where they had to get their pictures taken.

Aaron, Smolder, Marissa and Liam were all in the Ford Expedition. Liam was driving the car. Marissa was now five months pregnant. Aaron and Smolder were both in human form.

"You two signed up for guitar class?!" Marissa asked, shocked.

"Thought we could try something new this year," Smolder said. "Plus, we Equestrians love music. You've seen in the show."

"Well, that is true," Liam said.

"I thought I told you both to tell me about all of this yesterday!" Marissa said, angrily.

"We did," Aaron said. "Liam was there."

"It's true," Liam said. "We all talked about this yesterday."

"We did?" Marissa asked. She then got angry. "Well, why didn't you remind me?!"

"It's the mood swings, you two," Liam said. "It's a part of pregnancy."

"Dragon mood swings are much more angrier than human ones," Smolder said. "You do not wanna be facing an egg carrying dragon having mood swings."

"Good to know," Aaron said.

Liam then pulled the car into a parking lot of the Guitar Center. Marissa then sighed and said, "Okay. If you two are gonna get guitars, I suggest you get guitars that are no more than five hundred dollars. Each."

"If they get electric guitars, they're gonna need guitar amps," Liam said.

"Well, yeah, that's true," Marissa said. "Try not to spend so much."

"Alright, let's go," Liam said. Then he, Aaron and Smolder got out of the car and they all went into the music store. Aaron and Smolder went over to check out the guitars. They were checking the prices of the guitars to make sure it wasn't over five-hundred dollars. Aaron then saw a guitar that was a Jackson Dinky electric guitar, that was green. He checked it out. Aaron smiled at it. He then saw the price, and he saw that it was four-hundred dollars.

"Nice," Aaron said. Liam walked up to him and saw the price tag.

"Okay, that works," Liam said. "We'll get you a guitar strap, spare strings, guitar picks and a case."

"Thanks, Uncle Liam," Aaron said. He then saw Smolder checking out the bass guitars. He then said, "Hey, Smolder, that's the bass guitars."

"Huh?" Smolder said. "Oh. These are the four string guitars. Like in that Disney Channel Movie, Lemonade Mouth." She then looked at her hand. "Well, it would be a little easier to play in dragon form."

"Not if your claws cut through," Aaron said.

"That's true," Smolder said. "Alright, I'll only play this in human form." She then brought out an orange bass guitar from the Ibanez brand.

"Okay, then," Liam said. "Let's get you a case for the bass, along with a strap, spare bass guitar strings, a small amplifier, and a tuner."

"We can share the tuner," Aaron said, making Liam nod. Then they all looked for the needed things.

Aaron and Smolder returned home. They decided to put their musical instruments in Smolder's part of the house. Aaron and Smolder were tuning their instruments before they put them in their hard guitar and bass guitar cases.

"Say, with us going to work after lunch and working at Mel's, how are we gonna get our homework done?" Smolder asked.

"We can work on our homework immediately when we get home," Aaron said. "Hopefully, we won't have too much to do during those days."

"Good point," Smolder said. "Hopefully we'll get it all done before our bedtime." Aaron nodded at that. "We might have to get work down here together since we have the same classes."

"Better to work on it together," Aaron said. Smolder then kissed Aaron on the lips. She then broke the kiss.

"If we somehow end up falling asleep, at least you'll be away from crying babies when they're out of your aunt's womb," Smolder said. Just then, Liam came into Smolder's part of the house.

"Hey, kids," Liam said. "I'm gonna need help with getting pizzas for dinner. Marissa is very hungry."

"Alright, Uncle Liam," Aaron said.

"Smolder, why don't you stay here and help out Marissa?" Liam asked.

"Alright," Smolder said. "Someone's gotta keep her company." She then headed to the main part of the house as Aaron and Liam headed out of the house.

At dinner, Aaron, Smolder, Marissa and Liam were all having dinner. Marissa was eating a whole pizza for her and her two growing babies within her. The others were having personal pizzas.

"So, do you humans know of a way to determine what the gender of your babies are before they're born?" Smolder asked.

"Actually, there is," Marissa said. "But sometimes, they're faulty. I'm sure that the doctors at the hospital are really reliable with their technology. In fact, we're gonna head there next week to determine the genders of the babies."

"Good to know," Smolder said. "I don't think it'll work on dragon eggs."

"It probably would," Liam said. "They just have to be outside of the dragon body to do that."

"Could that work?" Aaron asked.

"Don't know," Smolder said. "Maybe one day, we'll find out."

"On work days, I'll come to the school and pick you two up to take you to work," Liam said. "Be ready to go at the end of Free Period."

"Alright, Uncle Liam," Aaron said. "At least we'll have a ride to work."

"Yeah," Smolder said. "We could use the ride. Might not be okay if we fly to work from school. We might cause too much attention and might cause car crashes on the Freeway."

"That would be bad," Liam said.

"Honey, I am really craving pickles," Marissa said.

"Alright, honey," Liam said, getting up and heading towards the kitchen.

"Sheesh," Smolder said. "The cravings while carrying are very strange."

"What do dragons crave when they're carrying?" Aaron asked.

"Usually gems, but those who are carrying dip them in peanut butter and mustard," Smolder said. "Sometimes, at the same time."

"That's disgusting!" Aaron said.

"I know!" Smolder said. "But apparently, that's what my mom did when she was carrying me."

"I doubt that you have baby pictures in the Dragon Lands," Marissa said.

"Oh, we do," Smolder said. "It's just that we don't take time to look at them."

"Oh, you might have to," Liam said, walking back towards them. "Because when you graduate from High School, they'll show your baby picture as you're being called."

"Principal Sanders said just as you finished Freshman Year," Marissa said. "So, one day, you're gonna need it when you graduate to help look back on how you got here."

"Oh, boy," Smolder said. "Although, it might be a while for that to happen."

"Yeah, that's true," Liam said. "Now, let's finish up." Then they all continued eating.
