A Dragon's High School Years
Chapter 13: Halloween Horror Nights

Aaron and Smolder were walking into the main entrance of Universal Studios Orlando, in human form. There, everything was set up for Halloween.
"Whoa," Smolder said. "What is this?!"
"Halloween Horror Nights," Aaron said. "Every Halloween time, Universal Studios decorates all of Universal Studios for Halloween. Even all the rides, attractions and restaurants are decorated for it."
"Really?" Smolder asked. "Wow. We must have one hell of a time working at the diner."
"We'll see," Aaron said. They reached the gate and showed their passes to the guard. They let them in and they headed to where they work. There, they saw the Mel's Drive In diner turned into the Mel's Die In diner.
"Wow," Smolder said. "I just hope we can also get our homework done before bedtime." Aaron and Smolder then went into the diner and headed for the back so they could get into their uniforms. "I still can't believe they're cancelling the G5 animated series."
"Yeah, after everything we did, they decided to not do anymore work with the series," Aaron said. "Ragnarok, Catrina, Crunch, although the battle against Crunch was in Equestria."
"Yeah," Smolder said. "What about Destiny? Izzy promised she would see her again, and they did." She then pulled out her phone. "I even posted our time in the future on the internet."
"Imagine the looks on the crew members of G5 when they see those pictures," Aaron said, making Smolder cover her mouth to hold in her laughter.
Eventually, they changed into their uniforms and checked in to start working.
Aaron and Smolder returned home, exhausted after the day they went through. They went into Smolder's part of the house so they could get started on their homework.
"That was a long day," Smolder said. "Is it always that rough at Halloween?"
"I wouldn't know," Aaron said. "We've only been living here for two and a half years."
"True," Smolder said, bringing out her backpack. Aaron did the same with his. They pulled out their textbooks and their notepads so they could start working on their homework. Since it was an A-Day, they decided to start with Algebra. "Better to get the easier class assignment done now than later."
"Yeah," Aaron said. "Let's get to work." Aaron and Smolder then started writing on their notepads so they could get their Algebra assignment done. Just then, Liam came into that part of the house with two bowls of spaghetti.
"Here you two go," Liam said. "You two have been doing so well with working at the diner well, and you two made a lot of money so far."
"So, why are we saving up this much money?" Smolder asked.
"You'll see," Liam said. "Although, you two are getting back two hundred dollars of spending money, in your personal bank accounts."
"Which we use to prepay for movies opening weekend," Aaron said.
"Well, I'm gonna check on your aunt and see how she's doing," Liam said. "Just a month and a half until the babies are born. Which probably isn't the best time to have a birthday party."
"Right, because being born close to a gift giving holiday might be a lot of debt on the accounts," Smolder said.
"You said it, Smolder," Liam said. "See you both later." Then he went back into the main part of the house as Aaron and Smolder continued doing their homework.
Aaron and Smolder were walking down the hall of the school, heading to Biology Class. They walked in and went to their seats. Smolder was in dragon form. She then yawned. Then Paul, Kyle and Megan came in.
"Whoa, Smolder," Paul said. "Are you feeling okay?"
"Stayed up until 11:30 to finish our homework," Smolder said. "Aaron and I are still groggy. We're still, trying to adjust to these working hours."
"Luckily, we don't have school tomorrow," Aaron said. "Principal Sanders says that the day after Halloween is a little exhausting for the Trick-or-Treaters."
"And the fact that we're working tonight will give us a little legroom to do our homework," Smolder said. She then yawned.
"Hopefully, you don't fall asleep in class," came the Biology teacher's voice. She was 5'4", had light skin, black hair, brown eyes, was wearing white blouse, black pants and black shoes. "You're gonna need to stay awake for this." She then brought out a stack of papers. "Pop... quiz."
"Aw..." most of the class said.
"No whining," the Biology Teacher said. "Now, pass these out to the student behind you as you get yours." She passed the pop quizzes out to the students in the front row. Then the students took the pop quizzes and they got out their pencils. As soon as all the students got their pop quizzes, the Biology Teacher then sat at her desk, which had her nameplate on it. Her name was Mrs. Gibbons. "And you will start... now." Then all the students started working on their quizzes.
With at least two minutes left in class, most of the class was already done with the pop quiz. Smolder fell asleep in class, her head resting on her left hand with her elbow keeping it up. The student to her right poked her right cheek, waking her up.
"Two minutes left," Mrs. Gibbons said. Smolder then went wide eyed and saw her pop quiz. She then quickly started filling the bubbles of her pop quiz quickly. She had ten questions left to finish until Mrs. Gibbons called out, "Pencils down." Smolder filled in the bubbles as quickly as she could before the bell could ring. Then all the other students got up, leaving Smolder finishing up. Mrs. Gibbons walked towards Smolder and said, "You could've just left those answers blank, Miss Drake." She then took the test just as Smolder finished filling the last bubble.
"Oh, uh... sorry," Smolder said. "I was..."
"You know I take away points for wrong answers, correct?" Mrs. Gibbons said, checking the pop quiz answers to see what Smolder filled in was right or wrong. "You can't just..." She then went wide eyed as she checked all the answers. She then looked towards Smolder and said, "You... got every answer correct."
"You mean... I got a... p-p-perfect score?" Smolder asked.
Mrs. Gibbons looked towards Smolder and said, "How about on the next school night, you get a good night's sleep, and work on the rest of your homework on the way to school? You're at your best when you have fully rested."
"Yes, Mrs. Gibbons," Smolder said. She then yawned as she got up, grabbed her backpack, and headed out of the classroom.
Aaron and Smolder, both in human form, walked into the Mel's Die-In at Universal Studios. Aaron was surprised at what Smolder scored during the pop quiz.
"Seriously? You got a perfect score?" Aaron asked.
"Yeah," Smolder said. "Honestly, that was just luck."
"Well, you can't always rely on luck during a test," the manager said. "You say you both don't have school tomorrow?"
"That's right," Aaron said.
"Well, you two have done so much already," the manager said. "School, work, sports, you two have been busy."
"Basketball Season hasn't started for Aaron," Smolder said. "That's his specialty."
"Basketball, huh?" the manager asked. "You must be really good."
"I am," Aaron said. "Time to get to work." Then Aaron and Smolder headed to the back to change into their uniforms.
Aaron and Smolder were leaving the diner, trying to get to the main exit, but they were being stalled by the Halloween Parade. Smolder was getting annoyed by it.
"C'mon," Smolder said. "We gotta go home."
"Hang on," Aaron said. "If we can't go through, we'll go over." Smolder then smirked. She and Aaron then transformed into their dragon forms and started flying over the parade. Eventually, they made it to the main entrance and exit. Aaron had already called for a Lyft back to the house.
"Wow," Smolder said. "These people sure love Halloween."
"Yeah," Aaron said. Then he and Smolder changed back into their human forms. "Well, time to head home." Just then, the car that Aaron called to pick them up came in. Then Aaron and Smolder got into it.
Eventually, they made it home. But when they got there, they saw trick-or-treaters coming from their house. They saw a sign on the door to the main part of the house that said, "Treats on that door" with an arrow below it, pointing towards Smolder's part of the house.
"That's odd," Aaron said. "Marissa isn't that mobile to pass out candy to trick-or-treaters."
"You're right," Smolder said. "And Liam's working late tonight. So who's..." Then some more trick-or-treaters came towards the door and rang the doorbell. Just then, the door opened and out popped a gorilla, scaring the trick-or-treaters. They screamed, but then it turned into laughter.
"Trick or treat!" the trick-or-treaters said. Then the gorilla handed out candy to the trick-or-treaters. After they got their candy, the trick-or-treaters then left. Aaron and Smolder walked up to the house and the gorilla saw them, smiled and wave.
"Ocellus?" Smolder asked.
"Yeah," the gorilla said in Ocellus's voice before shapeshifting back into her true form. "What? Too much?"
"Let me guess, you wanted to see how we were doing, but you didn't know we were working, and Marissa asked you to pass out the candy to trick-or-treaters?" Aaron asked.
"You got that right, Aaron," Ocellus said. "Plus, I'm not the only one here." The three of them walked into the house and they saw the rest of the Young 6 in Smolder's part of the house, along with Paul, Kyle, Megan and Slab. And all of them were watching Child's Play from 1988.
"This is the movie they were watching in Ghostbusters: Afterlife?" Gallus asked. "Wouldn't all of this be inappropriate for middle schoolers?"
"Yeah, it would be," Paul said. "But hey, we didn't write the script for that movie." Gallus tilted and nodded his head to agree with Paul. Aaron and Smolder came into the room.
"Hey, guys," Kyle said.
"Ooh, thank goodness you're here!" Silverstream said. "That Chucky doll is even scarier than the Storm King!"
"Man, this was almost like our last movie night when Megan was still here," Paul said. "Remember that?"
"Oh, boy," Smolder said, recalling one of their movie nights when Maddie was still living in Orlando.
One and a half years ago, Aaron, Smolder, Kyle and Megan were all in Smolder's part of the house. Smolder was in dragon form. Smolder turned on the TV.
"Okay, so do we have a movie picked out?" Aaron asked.
"I was thinking we could watch How To Train Your Dragon 2," Smolder said.
"Not a bad idea, but I'm kinda in the mood to watch Paw Patrol The Mighty Movie," Kyle said.
"You want to watch a movie based on a little kid's show?" Maddie asked.
"Hey, I heard that there's actual fighting in it," Kyle said. "It's worth a try."
"Plus, you forgot that there's a character from another children's TV show sitting right here," Smolder said, referring to herself.
"Oh, that's true," Maddie said. "Sorry, Smolder." Just then, Aaron's phone started ringing. Aaron picked it up and answered it.
"Hello?" Aaron asked.
"Hello, Aaron," the voice said in a sinister tone. "I got a question for you."
"Yeah? What's that?" Aaron asked, annoyed. He then got up and walked towards the closet where the portal to Equestria was.
"What is your favorite scary movie?" the sinister voice asked through the phone.
Aaron then opened the closet door and said, "We're not watching Scream again, Paul."
Paul was in the closet, but he got annoyed by the fact that his choice was rejected, saying, "Dang!"
"You called?" Dang suddenly appeared by the front door, making all the teenagers scream.
Back in the present, everyone in Smolder's part of the house laughed at that.
"Wait... so... Dang, the janitor, just randomly showed up in your house?" Megan asked. "How did he do it?"
"Either super speed or teleportation," Smolder said. "We have no idea how that works." Just then, something caught her scent of smell. She then sniffed and said, "Anyone else smell popcorn?"
"Who wants some?!" came Dang's voice. They looked towards the kitchen and saw Dang, in a popcorn seller's outfit with his name tag on it, and a popcorn cart next to him, making everyone there scream. "Why do they always scream when I come into the room?"
"Because you come in instantly without giving us any warning," Aaron said.
Dang then thought about it and said, "Oh. I guess that makes sense." He then turned towards the popcorn cart and asked, "So? Who wants popcorn?" Then everyone shrugged their shoulders and headed for the popcorn cart to get themselves some popcorn to enjoy while watching the movie.
Author's Note
Well, it's almost time for Marissa to give birth to her twin babies. And Aaron and Smolder are trying their best to adjust to their completely busy schedule. Even though it might be tiring, they're still trying to get it all done. And as for the movie night flashback, I just want to thank Tidal Wave2 for that part of the story. It was too funny not to put in one of my Aaron/Smolder stories. Also, the votes have been tallied. See you all next time.
