Chapter 17: First Cars

Aaron and the Young 6 came through the portal from the closet in the main part of the house the next day. They all headed for the kitchen for some breakfast. Smolder got out the ingredients for pancakes while Aaron pulled the skillet for the pancakes to be cooked on.
"I can't believe Twilight gave you the day off," Aaron said.
"Not that I'm surprised," Gallus said. "Right now, I could go for some grub." He then headed for the pantry and pulled out potatoes. "Where do you keep the grater?"
"In that cabinet," Aaron said, pointing at the bottom cabinet by the stove. Gallus then walked towards the cabinet, opened it, and pulled out a grater. Silverstream then pulled out another skillet so she and Gallus could make hash browns.
"Yona very hungry," Yona said. "Can friends also make eggs?"
"How would you like them cooked?" Aaron asked, getting out a frying pan. "Sunny side or scrambled?"
"Yona want scrambled," Yona said.
Just then, the door that leads to the garage opened up and in came Liam. Then Marissa came in from Smolder's part of the house. Aaron and the Young 6 saw them coming to the kitchen.
"Hey, Aunt Marissa," Aaron said. "Hey, Uncle Liam. What's up?"
"Ah, I see you're all making breakfast," Marissa said. "Let me help with that." Marissa then walked towards the kitchen. She then helped with cooking the pancakes, eggs and hash browns. "And after breakfast, there's something Liam and I want to show you all."
"Really?" Smolder asked. "What is it?"
"You'll just have to wait until after breakfast," Liam said. "Now. Let's get cooking." He then started helping Marissa with cooking breakfast.
Outside, Aaron and the Young 6, all in human form, were waiting on the sidewalk in front of the house. Smolder had her arms crossed.
"So, what do you think Marissa and Liam have for you two?" Ocellus asked.
"Don't know," Aaron said. Just then, the car garage doors started opening. From the main garage door came a green Ford Maverick Hybrid truck with a bed cap. And from the garage door on Smolder's part of the house came an orange Ford Escape Hybrid.
"Whoa!" Aaron and the Young 6 said in unison.
Liam came out from the Maverick and Marissa came out of the Escape. Aaron, Gallus and Sandbar went to the truck while Smolder, Ocellus, Yona and Silverstream went to the Escape.
"A Ford Maverick and a Ford Escape?" Aaron asked. "When did...?"
"Why did you think we wanted you to spend time with your friends in Equestria yesterday?" Liam asked.
"Yeah," Marissa said. "In fact..." She then handed Smolder the key to the Ford Escape.
"Huh?" Smolder asked, looking at the key.
"It's all yours," Marissa said. "And the truck is Aaron's." Liam was handing Aaron the key to the Ford Maverick.
"We got ourselves cars?" Aaron said. "Sweet!"
"Hell yeah," Smolder said.
"We were all in on this," Ocellus said.
"And we got them both in our car insurance plan and today, we got to get them registered," Liam said. "So, let's get moving."
"Tony and Jessica are already in the backseat here," Marissa said. "Now, let's go for a drive."
"We'll see you guys when you get back," Gallus said.
"Yeah," Sandbar said. "We'll hold down the fort here." Then the five of them went into the house. Aaron and Smolder shrugged their shoulders and went into the Driver's Seat of their respective vehicles.
Aaron and Smolder pulled their respective vehicles into the driveways. Both of their vehicles were registered under their names. When they came up to the house, Marissa gave both of them the low down.
"Okay, you two," Marissa said. "When you two are driving, I want you two to be in the same vehicle. You can either switch out vehicles daily, or weekly."
"Okay," Smolder said. "Now that we can do. But, we're gonna have to inform Principal Sanders about our new rides."
"We already did," Liam said. "We just have to wait until your license plates come in."
"Well, this will be interesting," Aaron said. "We might be at work when the license plates come in."
"Yeah," Smolder said. "We might want to wait until the plates come in until we actually drive them to work."
"I'll go inform Universal Studios about your new vehicles," Marissa said. She then went inside as the others followed. Aaron and Smolder saw the rest of their friends sitting on the couch in their real forms.
"So, you guys are finally driving your own cars, huh?" Gallus asked.
"Yeah," Aaron said. "But we're gonna have to wait until we get the license plates for our rides before we can officially take them to work. It won't take long."
A week later on Saturday, Aaron was putting the license plates on his truck while Liam was putting the license plates on Smolder's car. Smolder then came out of the house seeing the two putting on the license plates.
"Wow," Smolder said. "Sure is hot."
"Yeah, it is," Aaron said. Then Megan came up to them from across the street.
"Whoa," Megan said. "Are these yer cars?"
"That's right, Megan," Aaron said. "We just got them last week. The Maverick is mine while Smolder has the Escape."
"And they're both the colors of yer dragon bodies," Megan said. "Green fer you, and orange fer Smolder. Guess now Ah got a ride with y'all in yer vehicles."
"That is for the mornings," Aaron said. "We still have work and sports."
"True," Megan said. "Hey, does that mean yer gonna be in Varsity this Basketball Season?"
"That's right," Aaron said.
"Alright, Smolder," Liam said. "Your license plates are all set up. Now you and Aaron can drive around Orlando, but not out of town without an adult. Unless it's for a game."
"Okay," Aaron said. "So, are we gonna take a plane to Washington this fourth of July?"
"Actually, no," Liam said. "We're thinking of actually taking... both of your new rides to Washington. Your family really wants to see your new rides."
"Sweet," Aaron said. "That's gonna be a long trip."
Aaron and Smolder were driving home from work in Aaron's truck, both in human form. They pulled up in front of the house. After Aaron pulled the truck over. Smolder then got out of the truck.
"That was a good day of work," Smolder said. "We're watching Tony and Jessica tonight while she and Liam are going out on a date tonight."
"Alright," Aaron said. "I'll go pull the truck into the driveway and I'll meet you inside." Smolder nodded and headed for the house. Aaron was about to put the truck into Drive, but then a police car pulled up behind the truck with the siren going off. "Oh, boy." He then put both his hands on the wheel and took a deep breath. The police man got out of the car and walked up to the truck on the Driver's side. Aaron then looked at the police officer. "Hello, officer. Is something wrong?"
"What are you doing in this neighborhood?" the officer asked.
"I live here," Aaron said.
"And where are you coming from?" the police officer asked.
"Work," Aaron said. "I was about to pull up into the driveway and..."
"License and registration," the police officer said, interrupting Aaron. Aaron did as he was told. "Slowly."
"Hang on," Smolder said, running up to the police officer.
"This doesn't concern you, miss," the officer said.
"But officer..." Smolder said before being interrupted.
"I'm not gonna repeat myself," the officer said. Smolder got angry. But then she saw Liam's truck was parked in the driveway. She then went into the house.
"Office, can I ask you why you prevented me from parking my truck in the driveway?" Aaron asked.
"Sure," the officer said. "You, a suspicious looking young man owning a brand new truck? I don't think so."
"Suspicious?" Aaron asked. Just then, Liam came out of the house and ran up to them.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Liam said. "Officer Jenkins, what are you doing?"
"Not now, Daniels," the officer, known as Officer Jenkins, said. "I'm just keeping this suspicious young man from doing anything."
"That's my nephew-in-law," Liam said.
"What?!" Officer Jenkins asked. He then looked at Aaron's Driver's License and Registration. "You're... this kid's uncle by marriage?"
"I am," Liam said. "And I was there when he got this truck registered under his name, and he earned the money to pay for that truck fully since last summer. So, you can move on and continue your police work, or I'm gonna tell the chief about your rude behavior towards my nephew."
Officer Jenkins looked down at the license and registration in shame. Then he handed them back to Aaron and said, "I apologize for the... inconvenience. I'll... be off now." He then got into his police car and then drove off. Aaron then pulled the truck into drive, and then he pulled into the driveway.
Aaron and Liam then walked into the house. Marissa and Smolder then ran up to Aaron and hugged him.
"I'm so glad you're okay," Marissa said.
"I don't get it," Aaron said. "I followed the rules and that guy still treated me like a criminal."
"I've been there myself, Aaron," Liam said. "When I was around your age, I drove around the neighborhood in my own set of wheels. But right as I parked my car, a cop came up and arrested me. The cop kept me in a holding cell until my parents could pick me up. I got out Scott-free because I didn't do anything wrong and that cop got fired for arresting someone without the proper evidence. So, when I got out of high school, I went straight to a police academy and became a cop so no young person would be arrested for that."
"I'm... I'm still a little shaken up about it," Aaron said.
"Don't worry, Aaron," Marissa said. "Just because you got pulled over that one time doesn't mean you're a bad kid. You're a good boy, and a hero both in this world, and in Equestria."
"You practically saved both our worlds from danger," Smolder said. "Ragnarok, Catrina, Tirek, Chrysalis, and you even reformed Cozy Glow."
"Still can't believe she and I have one thing in common," Aaron said. "A father that didn't want their own child." Smolder shook her head at that.
"He deserved Cozy's fate," Smolder said. "Which is why he was turned into a copy of her and turned to stone and became a part of that statue."
"Wait, that was Cozy's father in that Future episode?" Marissa asked.
"Yeah," Smolder said. "He got what he deserved." He then put a hand on Aaron's left shoulder. "Listen, Aaron, you're stronger than you think. And you followed the rules. And if people like that think that you're anything but a good person, then they are just blind to the truth."
"She's right, Aaron," Marissa said. "Now, Liam and I have got to head out on our date. Be good." Aaron nodded. Then Marissa and Liam headed for the door. Aaron and Smolder then headed for the couch. They saw in a baby cage by the TV that Tony and Jessica were both asleep. Aaron then turned on the TV and they started watching the My Little Pony series they had saved on their Prime Video account.
Author's Note
Well, by the looks of it that both Aaron and Smolder have received... both vehicles in a tie. Apologies to Softy Blue for not getting his vote in in time before I started writing this chapter. So, basically, Aaron and Smolder will both have their own set of wheels. And hopefully, their next year of High School will be better. See you all next time.
