Chronicals of the Sacred Elements

The soft magenta glow of Twilight's horn illuminated the room as she read her fourth book from the pile resting on the nightstand beside the chair she was sitting on. Glancing sideways, she saw the softly breathing pegasus that was Rainbow Dash laying on the hospital bed beside her. Looking over rainbows body she examined the bandages wrapped around various parts of her body, such as her forelegs and wings, which smelled heavily of antiseptics.

'I still don't believe that a crash could give her injury's like this.' Twilight thought to herself. She, Rarity, and Sweetie Belle had, thanks to twilight's teleportation spell, arrived at the hospital a few minutes after Thunderlane and Flitter had flown trough the doors with a unconscious Rainbow Dash in tow, and were able to witness for themselves what kinds of wounds she had gotten during her "crash" before she was brought further into the building for treatment. The multicolored pegasus wasn't covered in any sort of cuts or bruises that would normally be on her whenever she had crashed before now. Instead her body had been covered in small patches of ice, which after examination from Doctor Stable, had resulted in minor cases of frostbite. Other than that there were no other wounds on her body except for the small bruise on the back of her head. It wasn't even big enough to support the theory that Rainbow had crashed.

"Besides, if Rainbow had been doing tricks before crashing, the speed she would have been traveling at would have been enough to punch a hole through the roof she was found on." Twilight thought out loud. "And according to what Thunderlane and Flitter told me, the roof was still completely intact when they found her. Something else is going on here, but what?" She frowned. "What could have done this?"

"So ya'll caught on too, didn't ya Twi?" Asked a voice carrying a southern accent from a bed situated on the other side of the room. Twilight looked up and watched as an orange earth pony laying upon it rolled over to face the purple unicorn.

"Applejack, your still awake."

"Of course ah ahm. Ah couldn't get a wink a sleep if ah wanted to." Applejack nodded in rainbows direction. "Ahm as worried about her as any of the rest of ya."

"So you don't believe that she crashed either."

"Heck no. Somepony is only afflicted with frostbite when their exposed to extreme cold, which ya probably already knew. Ah've had frostbite before, and let me tell ya, its not a pleasant experience." The orange earth pony shivered as she remembered the winter days of one particularly cold year. "What ah don't get though, is how Rainbow got it? There's still a few months before winters here, and even then it barely ever gets that cold in Ponyville."

"Well, earlier today i was talking with rainbow. Apparently some strange weather that not even the weather ponys can control has been happening all around town in random isolated spots. It had even started to snow around Spike and myself earlier." Twilight stated "But according to dash it never lasts longer than a minute, and it definitely doesn't get cold enough for this to happen. The only other conclusion that I can come up with is-"

"Ya'll think somepony attacked Rainbow don'tcha sugarcube." Applejack guessed.

"Its the only other conclusion that makes sense. Other than in the Everfree Forest, weather is controlled by pegasai. Rainbow dash even told me that she suspected somepony else other than her and the weather team was messing with the weather. She must have found whoever it was and things must have gotten out of hoof."

"Ah don't know Twi. It seems kinda far fetched ta me. Ah mean what pony would want ta not get caught that bad that they'd attack Rainbow. And even if she was attacked, Rainbows one of the best fighters there is. The only ones who could possibly beat her in a fight would probably be a royal guard, the princesses, or one of the two of us. Even ah have difficulty's fightin her when we skirmish."

"But its the only logical-" Twilight started before giving Applejack a look of utter confusion "Wait, you two have fighting skirmishes?"

"Well, after the whole changelin thang, Rainbow wanted ta make sure that if she was in a situation like that again, she would make sure that she was ready. So she came ta me and asked if ah would train with her. Ah was a little skeptical at first but when she explained ta me why she wanted ta do it, i agreed with her. There's nothin wrong with bein prepared."

"While I don't agree with you two fighting each other, i guess Rainbows reasoning is sound." A third voice made its presence known. Looking over towards it's point of origin, both mares discovered that Rarity was awake and watching the two intently, gently stroking Sweetie bBelles mane as the young filly cuddled up against her sister in a deep slumber.

"Rarity, were you awake this whole time?" Twilight asked the white unicorn noticing the faint black bags under the fashionista's eyes.

"Yes darling, I have." Rarity confirmed "As much as i would like to have my beauty sleep, rest has eluded me so far as my mind has been consumed with worry for Rainbow Dash here."

"So ahm guessin ya'll heard our disscusion then?" Applejack asked.

"Of course, there's not much else happening, so hearing out what Twilight and your own opinions were was a nice change of pace."

"What do you think Rarity?" Twilight asked giving the unconscious pegasus a worried glance. "There has to be something going on. None of her wounds support the fact that she crashed."

"They don't support that she was attacked either." Applejack countered.

Rarity raised a hoof to her chin and appeared to be deep in thought. After a few moments she said. "I believe Twilight might be onto something. She's right that Rainbows injury's point to something other than Rainbow Dash just crashing. I mean Rainbow wasn't the only pony checked into the hospital today. The stallion that Twilight and myself found earlier had quite a few wounds on him as well. Deep lacerations that could have been easily been caused by him being attacked by somepony. Do you think that he and Rainbow Dash could have both been attacked by the same pony?"

"I dont know Rarity." Twilight frowned. This hadn't even occurred to her that the two cases might be even closely related. "It could have happened, but considering the way we found Gigawatt, and if the two attacks were by the same pony, then why were the methods in the attacks so different."

"Now wait just a dang second here." Applejack interrupted, looking back and forth between the two unicorns in confusion. "Ya'll mind tellin me what ya'll are talkin about. Who's Gigawatt?

"Oh right, we didn't tell you girls yet." Twilight remembered, blushing a little in embarrassment that she had still to let her other friends know what had happened. "We didn't really have any time to tell you girls between then and when we heard about Rainbow Dash. By the time the rest of you got here we must have forgotten."

"Earlier in the day there was a bolt of lightning that struck near my boutique." Rarity continued for the lavender unicorn. "When i went outside to check what had happened, Twilight was sitting by a crater in the ground where the lightning had hit."

"I had almost been hit by the lightning," Twilight took over again, "but what was left in the crater was shocking in itself. A unicorn stallion was laying in the crater, One side of his body was covered in deep lacerations, which oddly weren't even bleeding now that I think about it."

"Twilight, worried about his health teleported here to the hospital to get help, even though it would have been faster to bring him there with her, while Sweetie Belle and I stayed behind to make sure that he was taken care of."

"The reason why I didn't bring him with me was because teleportation displaces all of your senses for a short period of time, which you experienced yourself when we came here to make sure Rainbow was okay. I wasn't sure how it would affect him so I left him with you." Twilight said in defense. "Anyways, after I brought help back he was transported to the hospital and his wound were treated. A little later he woke up and we found out he had lost all of his memory except for his name. And that's all there is to know." Twilight finished the explination, intentionally not telling Applejack about her crush on the stallion.

"Wow, that's quite the story." Applejack commented, tipping her trademark stetson hat over her eyes.

"I'll admit, it was a good story, but I've heard better." A tomboyish voice bragged. cCatching the three mares unprepared, there gaze's were drawn to the ainbow maned pegasus, who was now fully awake and had a toothy grin on her face.

"RAINBOW DASH!." The three mares cried out in unison.

The unified shout of the three suprised mares was almost deafening, and woke the three ponys in the room who had still been sleeping. Sweetie Belle bolted straight up with a squeak, her eyes wide and her horn letting a small spark of green magic escape, as she quickly shot her head around trying to process the scene. Fluttershy, who had been sleeping right in a chair right next to Rainbows bed and had had her head resting right next to the cyan pegasus, had a reaction almost exactly like Sweetie Belle's, except since being a pegasus instead of a unicorn, her wings flared straight out and locked in place. Pinkie Pie who had been sleeping on an extra hospital bed on her back somehow leaped into the air without using anything to give her momentum to do so as she yelled out randomness that must have had something to do with a dream she must have been having before falling to the ground.

"Wh-what?" Fluttershy looked around confused before noticing the now conscious Rainbow Dash. The butter coated pegasus's eyes began to fill with tears as she gently hugged her pegasus counterpart. "Oh Rainbow, I-I was so worried. You had so many injury's this time, I thought you weren't going to be okay."

Rainbow Dash lifted Fluttershys head so that she could look the crying pegasus straight in the eye. "Dont worry about me Fluttershy. As you can see, I'm perfectly fine. It's going to take more than that to take me down."

"What happened Rainbow?" Twilight asked

"Yeah Rainbow what happened?" Pinkie Pie bounced up onto the cyan pegasai's bed, a wide grin on her face. "I mean we know you wiped out doing tricks because that's what the doctors told us and why would the doctors lie unless they were trying to hide something from us unless you were doing something you didn't want us to know about but you were doing tricks before you crashed unless you weren't doing tricks before you crashed but what else would you be doing if you weren't doing tricks did the princess give you some sort of super secret mission that you had to fight some really evil bad guy or maybe there were lots of bad guys you had to fight and when you tried to fight them they out numbered you so you had to use your speed to fight them off but there were to many so you-" Rainbow dash forced her hoof into Pinkies mouth to stop her from spouting any more of her crazy ideas that would to continue to grow more and more ridiculous until they made no sense whatsoever.

"No Pinkie, I didn't get sent on some secret mission by the princess." Rainbow dash said before removing her hoof from the pink speed talkers mouth. "I didn't even wipe out doing stunts in the air."

"Then what did happen Dashie?" Pinkie asked this time waiting for Rainbow Dash to answer.

"I was attacked." Rainbow stated. This caused Fluttershy to cover her mouth with hooves and Pinkies ears to flatten against her head and her eyes to widen.

"I knew it!" Twilight exclaimed drawing the attention of all the ponys in the room.

"You knew?" Rainbow asked confusion on her face. "How could you know i was attacked Twilight, i just told you about it."

"Well i didn't know for sure until you confirmed it just now." Twilight explained. "But the wounds you had didn't match up with a crash, so Rarity, Applejack and myself got to talking and came up with the conclusion that you had been attacked. What I would like to know is who would want to attack you and why?"

"Well I could think of a few ponys who would like to, including one very angry griffin." Rainbow answered as she stretched her limbs. "Unfortunately for me it wasn't any of them. If it was they would have been here instead of me. No I was attacked by some random pegasus I've never seen before. Asked if I knew somepony named Gigawatt, which now I'm guessing is the same stallion from the story you just told AJ."

"Wait, this pegasus is after Gigawatt." Twilight's eyes widened in realization. "If that's true then wouldn't that mean-

BOOM!!

A loud explosion sounded throughout the building causing the mares to all look towards the door. Shouting could be heard from the other side, and whoever it was sounded absolutely irate.

"Well sugarcube," Applejack turned to Twilight, "It looks like we may be findin out sooner rather than later."

"Where is he?!" The white pegasus yelled as she slammed an earth pony wearing a white doctors coat against a wall, holding him there by his neck. In her other hoof was another white coated, pink manned earth pony mare wearing a nurses hat, who the pegasus had griped by the back of her neck.

"I-I don't know... who your talking... about." The pony in the doctors coat choked, fruitlessly trying to push the pegasai's hoof off of him.

"Of course you don't." the pegasus sighed glaring daggers into the earth pony. "He's a brown unicorn with a white mane. He has no cutie mark, a lightning bolt shaped horn, and go's by the name Gigawatt. Where. Is. He?"

The earth pony blinked in realization. "I don't... know who your... talking about." The earth pony repeated trying to play dumb.

"Your really bad at lying, you know that." She told the earth pony. "I personally don't want to hurt anyone, but unfortunately for you my own personal desires conflict with the orders I've been given. And as much as I would like to disobey these orders, I can't physically stop myself." she then raised the mare she held in her other hoof who was struggling to get free. "If you cooperate then nothing bad will happen to your friend here. If you don't I'll be forced to turn her into a popsical, its your choice. So I'll ask you one more time, where is he?" To prove her point, she unfurled her wing and started to casually flap her wings casually at the mare in her grip, slowly freezing the nurse, drawing screams of pain and fear from her earth pony captive.

Before the earth pony could give her a response, the pegasus felt an intense pain in her side and found herself flying across the lobby of the hospital. Hitting a wall in the direction she was sent, her wing got caught at an awkward angle causing it to snap under the pressure with a loud, sickening, audible crack. Wincing in pain but not crying out the pegasus dropped to the floor, landing on her hooves. 'Dammit that hurts' she thought to herself as she examined her wound. the wing was bent at an odd angle, but the skin was still intact and there was no telltale signs of bleeding, so that was good. 'Wont be able to use it for a few days though', Looking up she saw an orange earth pony wearing a stetson hat glaring daggers at her. If looks could kill she guessed that the glare the earth pony was giving her would have made her keel over ten times already. Behind her another pink earth pony and two unicorns were helping the two pony's she had been holding and told them to get to a safe place which the two earth pony's agreed to hastily.

"Your going to regret that." she gave the stetson wearing pony her own glare. 'Why did they have to get themselves involved?' she thought to herself.

"Yeah, ya'll and what army." The orange earth pony retorted. The earth pony was then joined by the three other mares behind her.

Looking at each of the four pony's in turn the pegasus let out a small laugh. "Heheheh, just four of you. It's going to take a lot more to take me on, even if my wings broken." With that she extended her good wing and started flapping it. This in turn quickly spawned a small blizzard that flowed around the pegasus concealing her from the mares across from her.

"Twi, what's she doin?!" The orange earth pony looked over to the purple unicorn beside her.

"I don't know Applejack. She's probably doing whatever she must have done to Rainbow Dash." The unicorn replied.

"Not exactly Twilight Sparkle." The pegasus yelled. "What I did to Dashie was meant to knock her out. This on the other hand..."

"Wait, how do you know my name?" Twlight asked, confusion and suprise on her face.

"That shouldn't be what you should be worried about right now." The pegasus then stopped flapping her wing and drew it back behind her. Then with one last mighty flap the pegasus sent the storm at the opposing group.

"Brace yourselves!" Twilight called out as her horn flashed instinctively, conjuring a magenta barrier around the group. The small snowstorm then wrapped itself around the unicorns shield, causing them to disappear from sight. For about thirty seconds the blizzard roared around them before it finally died out and revealed that the barrier was gone and the four ponys were collapsed on the ground shivering from coldness.

"S-so c-c-cold." the pink earth pony chattered.

"Your all still alive?" the pegasus raised an eyebrow. "Well that's unexpected, but i can make this work in my favor too."

the pegasus trotted up to the group and settled herself next to the pink pony. "Your Pinkie Pie correct?" The mare then placed her hoof on the earth pony and looked at the rest of the ponys around her. " You all have one minute to tell me where Gigawatt is or your pink friend gets a nice cool grave."

"Why are you doing this to us?" Twilight groaned from her spot on the icy floor.

"Honestly, I don't want to do this to all of you." The pegasus replied, a hint of sadness in her voice. "Unfortunately I'm not in control of most of my body."

"Whats that supposed to-" Twilight started

"Whats going on out here?" A voice called out from the other side of the room.

Turning to the origin of the voice, the pegasai's eyes widened when she saw a brown unicorn stallion standing at the other side. "Gigawatt!" The pegasus yelled, turning to gallop at the unicorn.

"Gigawatt run! Your the one shes after!" Twilight exclaimed.

The pegasus closed the distance quickly, and when she was about two meters away from the unicorn she pounced at him, and he in turn back peddled away from the mare unsuccessfully. As the pegasus made contact with the unicorn they fell backwards into the hallway that the unicorn had been standing in front of. On the floor the pegasus the wrapped her forelegs around the unicorn and hugged him while nuzzling his chest.

"Oh Giggy i missed you so much." The pegasus cried into the unicorns chest.

"Wait, what?" Twilight asked in utter confusion.
